41.

Prescription drug abuse occurs when people believe the pill will make them more fun, help them lose weight, fit in, or even improve their ability to study. Narcotics on prescription can be more easily obtained than narcotics on the streets since friends or family may have them. However, just like illegal substances, prescription medications are occasionally sold on the black market.

 42.
However, the safety of prescription medications is limited to the individuals who are prescribed them. This is a result of a medical professional examining the patients and determining the appropriate dosage of medication for their condition. Additionally, the doctor has instructed them on the proper dosage and precautions to follow when taking the medication. Additionally, they can keep a watchful eye out for any negative effects because they are aware of them.

 43.
What Perils Are Associated With Medicine Abuse?

 44.
Prescription drug addiction carries significant health dangers when used improperly, just like any other type of drug abuse. Abuse of opioids can result in breathing difficulties, altered mood and behavior, difficulty thinking properly, coma, or even death. When alcohol, antihistamines, and CNS depressants are used with opioids, there is an increased risk of side effects. Click here and get more crucial information.

 45.
CNS Depressants

 46.
Abuse of CNS depressants is also dangerous. People taking depressants may experience drowsiness, lack of coordination, confusion, slurred speech, and slower respiration. Seizures may result from stopping them suddenly or cutting them down too soon. Combining CNS depressants with prescription opioids, some over-the-counter cold and allergy medications, alcohol, or other medications can cause a person’s respiration and heart rate to become severely slowed down, potentially fatal.

 47.
Stimulants Abuse

 48.
Abuse of stimulants, such as certain ADHD medications, can result in cardiac issues, seizures, panic attacks, violent conduct, and paranoia. When stimulants are combined with other medications, especially over-the-counter medications like cold remedies, these dangers escalate.

 49.
And lastly, never use a prescription meant for someone else. Additionally, keep yours to yourself. You run the risk of suffering as well as endangering others because you will not be able to get a prescription filled sooner if the medication runs out earlier than it should. Additionally, it is illegal to give medication to someone else. Contrary to popular belief, using prescription medications improperly might be more harmful than beneficial.

The post What Leads to Prescription Drug Abuse? first appeared on https://healthhospitalnews.com.

 64.

Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects a person’s blood glucose, or sugar, regulation. There is currently no cure, but a person can manage the condition with diabetes medications such as insulin, alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, and biguanides. Some research has looked into whether CBD oil can also help with diabetes. If you’re managing type 2 diabetes, it’s natural to be curious about whether CBD might help you manage those symptoms, too, to help stabilize your blood sugar. In fact, the prevalence of cannabis use increased by 340 percent among people with diabetes from 2005 to 2018, according to one study, which surveyed people on their use of cannabis (CBD or THC, in any form) in the previous 30 days.

 65.
Let’s know more about CBD

 66.
Before understanding the benefits of cannabidiol oil India for diabetic patients, it is better to broaden your horizons and grab the information about CBD first. CBD is known to be a natural compound that is extracted from the Cannabis sativa plant. This is also the same plant from where THC or marijuana is taken. However, CBD is not similar to marijuana as it doesn’t make you feel high.

 67.
CBD is also taken out from hemp as well as cannabis. Hemp is known to be a non-psychoactive cannabinoid and its consumption won’t make you feel high. However, it does contain 0.3 percent of THC and is not considered illegal. People who have diabetes and are looking to use CBD can go for its different forms with THC less than 0.3 percent or THC-free CBD.

 68.
Can CBD help with diabetes?

 69.
A 2021 case study suggests that CBD may be an option for people with type 2 diabetes who cannot use standard diabetes management methods.

 70.
According to the Arthritis Foundation, people with arthritis are more likely to develop diabetes. This link may be due to inflammation as well as genetics and risk factors such as obesity and lower activity levels.

 71.
There are always some questions like how does CBD help diabetes, etc. CBD is known to target the G-protein coupled receptors in the body as they are responsible for the functioning of the body. As per Doctor Chin, cannabinoids have the largest GPCR which is why CBD can affect insulin resistance. He also suggests that CBD should be used for the long term as it has a safe profile and offers cumulative effects. This can help massively for people who have diabetes. Plus, it can treat other core issues and can improve diabetes lifestyle management. Following a holistic regimen can allow patients to see CBD working in their favor.

 72.
You’ve probably also heard that cannabidiol oil India can help lessen stress, anxiety, and pain. When people are in pain, they have a stress response, which causes an increase in cortisol and an increase in blood sugar. Relieving pain can help alleviate the stress response and improve blood sugar levels, as well as aid sleep

 73.
Note:

 74.
However, it is important for people to always take any medication a healthcare professional prescribes. If a person wishes to use alternative therapies, such as CBD, they should always do so with the support and knowledge of their healthcare team. While there is some evidence that CBD may help diabetes management, there is not enough research on humans or enough studies on the long-term effects of CBD

 75.
The American Diabetes Association states that buy cbd oil online India can raise eye pressure, increasing the risk of glaucoma. As glaucoma is a potential complication of diabetes, people should discuss any risks with a healthcare professional.

The post CBD Oil: A promising frontier in helping a Diabetic Patient first appeared on https://healthhospitalnews.com.

 90.

A 2023 report from the CDC serves as a stark reminder of just how prevalent chronic pain is. At the time, the CDC estimated that some 51 million adults experienced chronic pain lasting for more than three months in 2021. Just over seventeen million reported high impact chronic pain. None of this is good news, but the fact that treating pain is so difficult only makes a bad situation worse.

 91.
Why is treating pain so challenging? First and foremost, it is highly complex. In most cases, pain is a symptom of another disease or injury. But there are cases in which pain is the condition itself. Think fibromyalgia as just one example.

 92.
Pain is so complex that doctors can now pursue a specialty in pain medicine. Pain medicine doctors learn about a variety of treatments that go above and beyond physical therapy, prescription medications, injection therapies, and surgical procedures.

 93.
Pain Is Highly Subjective

 94.
One could point to any number of reasons explaining why pain is such a complex medical issue. At the very top of the list would be the fact that pain is highly subjective. So much so that there is no test to measure it – at least in the same vein as a blood test that can identify diabetes.

 95.
Doctors are forced to rely on patient reporting. They ask patients a series of questions about their pain and then apply the answers to a predetermined scale. This is how they determine how much pain a patient is in. Yet it is not a very accurate measurement for the simple fact that people perceive pain differently.

 96.
Personally, I have a very high pain threshold. Blood draws barely affect me. They do not cause enough pain for me to even worry about. Yet they are extremely painful to my wife. It is the same procedure, but the pain experience is different for the both of us.

 97.
The Physical and Mental Link

 98.
The fact that pain is highly subjective adds credence to the theory that there is a link between the physical experience of pain and what a patient thinks about that pain. As an example, a person afraid of significant pain during an injection is likely to experience the pain as expected. The opposite is also true.

 99.
How we think and feel about pain partially influences the pain experience. So much so that clinics like Utah’s KindlyMD.com combine state-issued Medical Cards with both traditional medications and alternative medicine, complemented by mental health treatments. By treating both the pain experience and a patient’s mental health, clinicians can minimize pain to some degree. That is the goal.

 100.
Even with the mental-physical link, healthcare providers are still faced with the reality that people experience pain differently. Pain thresholds are different. So are the physical feelings associated with pain. What you feel as a throbbing pain might be described as a stabbing pain by someone else. A pain that could have you doubled over might barely be a blip on someone else’s radar.

 101.
As Many Options as Possible

 102.
When all is said and done, the complexities of treating pain suggest that we need as many options as possible. Settling on prescription drugs, physical therapy, and surgical procedures as the only legitimate means of treating chronic pain just doesn’t make sense. Pain’s individualized nature suggests that individualized treatment plans are more appropriate.

 103.
Successful pain management doctors have my respect, especially when they do not rely on the prescription pad to treat every patient. Those willing to look at all the alternatives are more likely to help their patients get a handle on chronic pain. That is the way it should be.

The post The Complexities of Treating Pain Limit Clinical Options first appeared on https://healthhospitalnews.com.

 196.

Workplace violence might sound like an out-of-the-space affair, but it is a harsh truth. Workplace violence takes place and creates havoc in employee mental health. This is why, workplace violence needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. According to Gina Temple, workplace violence does not do any good. Rather, it spoils the goodwill of the company and does not promote a healthy work environment. With the negative word going around in the industry, the company involved in workplace violence loses its credibility and the trust of its employees and clients.

 197.
The Harsh Reality of Workplace Violence: Workplace violence in healthcare encompasses a range of behaviors that threaten the safety and well-being of employees. From physical assaults to verbal abuse and intimidation, the impact of such incidents can be profound, affecting both individuals and the overall work atmosphere. The victims of workplace violence often endure not only physical harm but also emotional trauma that can lead to long-term psychological consequences.

 198.
Punishment for Workplace Violence: Recognizing the severity of workplace violence, legal systems around the world have implemented strict measures to hold perpetrators accountable. Penalties for workplace violence can include criminal charges, civil lawsuits, and employment termination. Criminal charges may vary depending on the nature and severity of the incident, ranging from assault to homicide. Civil lawsuits can result in financial compensation for victims, while termination is a common consequence for employees found guilty of violence in the workplace.

 199.
What to Do to Control Workplace Violence:

 200.
Healthcare professionals need to be aware of their employment rights. If you don’t know what to do, you will not be able to handle it. For this reason, Gina encourages people to learn about the workplace violence law and how to take proper measures against it.

 201.

 202.
Develop a Comprehensive Policy: Establish a clear and comprehensive workplace violence policy that outlines unacceptable behavior, consequences for violations, and platforms for reporting incidents.

 203.
Training and Education: Educate employees on recognizing and reporting potential signs of workplace violence. Provide training sessions that focus on conflict resolution, stress management, and effective communication to minimize the likelihood of confrontations escalating into violence.

 204.
Encourage Open Communication: Foster a culture of open communication where employees feel comfortable reporting concerns without fear of retaliation. Implement anonymous reporting mechanisms to encourage reporting.

 205.
Implement Security Measures: Invest in security measures such as surveillance cameras, access control systems, and security personnel to deter potential perpetrators and ensure a safer working environment.

 206.
Promote Mental Health Support: Recognize the importance of mental health in preventing workplace violence. Offer support programs, counseling services, and resources to help employees manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues.

 207.
Conduct Regular Assessments: Regularly assess the workplace for potential risks and vulnerabilities. Address any identified issues promptly to create a safer and more secure environment.

 208.

 209.
Workplace violence in healthcare is an issue that cannot be ignored, and its harsh reality requires a collective effort to address and erase it says Gina Temple. By implementing comprehensive policies, promoting education and training, and developing a culture of open communication, organizations can take significant steps toward creating workplaces where violence is not tolerated.

 226.

Hormones are known to act as vital communicators between cells in the body, and are responsible for regulating many of the functional systems of the body. Experts at Evan Bass Men’s Clinic mention that as people age, their hormones start to change or become imbalanced. In this situation, people may go for hormone optimization. Hormone optimization therapy has been designed to reverse the negative effects of hormonal imbalance.

 227.
Evan Bass Men’s Clinic marks some of the key symptoms that indicate that hormone optimization therapy is needed

 228.
The key goal of hormone optimization is to orderly assess whether the hormone levels in the body are below the optimal threshold, and if so, then to treat the condition by developing a plan to improve hormone function. In case the body is not producing homes in the manner it should, then hormone optimization therapy might be needed. This method either supplements under-produced hormones or replaces them altogether.

 229.
There are many signs that indicate that one may need hormone optimization therapy, which include:

 230.

 231.
Mood changes: A lot of people are quick to dismiss mood changes or irritability as normal responses to the daily frustrations of life and busy schedules. While this might be few in certain cases, one must know that hormonal imbalances can also affect the way a person feels. It would be a good idea to seek professional assistance if one is experiencing severe ups and downs, lengthy depressive episodes and debilitating anxiety. In certain situations, hormone replacement therapy may help in easing these symptoms.

 232.
Physical changes: Hormone imbalances may cause low libido, changes in bowel or bladder habits, as well as unexplained weight loss or weight gain. By narrowing down the hormones that might be causing these issues, a treatment plan can be tailored to the needs of a person.

 233.
Increased risk of bone loss: When people age, their bone density also decreases. If one is particularly at risk for falls or fractures, hormone optimization or replacement therapy might be useful for them. The spine is also at risk of degeneration when people get older. Hence, protecting the vertebrae and discs in between them becomes increasingly important.

 234.
Fatigue: There is a major difference between just being tired from time to time, and being constantly fatigued. Simply being tired may result from many issues, like having a stressful day at work or not getting a good night’s sleep. On the other hand, being fatigued implies to the feeling of being unusually exhausted regularly, and can be caused by hormonal imbalance.

 235.

 236.
From the start of their 30s, a man’s body makes less and less testosterone, and around 40-55 the levels may drop dramatically. Experts at Evan Bass Men’s Clinic mention that even though the reduction in testosterone production is a normal part of the ageing process, low testosterone can present a variety of uncomfortable symptoms. Hence, going for hormone optimization would be useful in restoring vigor during middle age. No matter the age of a person or the stage of life they are in, the balance of hormones would be essential to their everyday living.

The post Evan Bass Men's Clinic Lists the Signs Indicating that One May Need Hormone Optimization first appeared on https://healthhospitalnews.com.

 252.
A Brief History of Laser Technology

 253.
Ever since lasers made their debut, there’s been an incessant drive to refine and improve them. The journey from early lasers, rudimentary in function, to the ultra-precise picosecond lasers we see today is nothing short of impressive.

 254.
From early lasers to Picosecond

 255.
The evolution has been rapid. From bulky machines to streamlined, efficient tools, the progress is palpable. But what’s so special about the picosecond laser, aka the Pico Laser?

 256.
How Pico Lasers stand out

 257.
Pico Lasers, with their super-fast delivery, have set the bar high. They’re not just faster; they’re more effective, less damaging, and incredibly versatile.

 258.
What is a Pico Laser?

 259.
The science behind Picosecond

 260.
The term ‘picosecond’ sounds fancy, doesn’t it? A 皮秒 is one trillionth of a second. Imagine a laser pulse that’s delivered in such a short span. That’s the magic of Pico Laser!

 261.
Applications and Uses

 262.
From tattoo removals to treating pigmentation disorders, Pico Lasers are the new favorites in both medical and cosmetic fields. Why? Because they’re efficient and less painful.

 263.
Benefits of Pico Laser Treatment

 264.
Medical benefits

 265.
Beyond aesthetics, Pico Lasers have proven their mettle in medical treatments too. Think scar reduction, skin rejuvenation, and even treatment of certain vision issues.

 266.
Cosmetic benefits

 267.
Fade those tattoos, get rid of unwanted freckles, or just rejuvenate your skin for a youthful glow. The cosmetic world swears by the prowess of Pico Lasers.

 268.
Pico Laser vs. Traditional Lasers

 269.
Speed and Precision

 270.
Traditional lasers are like manual cars, functional but demanding. Pico Lasers? They’re the supercars, boasting unmatched speed and precision.

 271.
Safety and Risks

 272.
With great power comes great responsibility. While Pico Lasers are powerful, they are also crafted to be safer with minimal side effects.

 273.
The Procedure: What to Expect

 274.
Walk into a clinic, and in a few minutes to hours, depending on the procedure, walk out with visible results. It’s quick, mostly painless, and the results? Absolutely worth it.

 275.
Cost and Accessibility

 276.
Quality comes at a price. While Pico Laser treatments might be a tad more expensive than traditional methods, the results justify the cost. And with its rising popularity, finding a clinic near you is a breeze.

 277.
Future of Picosecond Lasers

 278.
The future looks bright. With continuous research and innovations, who knows what’s next? Maybe lasers that can reverse aging? Only time will tell.

 279.
Personal Experiences: Stories from Users

 308.

We often think that health issues do not affect young people. However, they are strongly concerned. Indeed, although this population considers itself in good physical and mental health, the health of young people remains a concern for public authorities, particularly because young adulthood is a pivotal period where new practices and behaviors multiply, including those at risk which can become difficult to eliminate and have a harmful impact later in life. Status report with Mutualia on the relationship between young people and health.

 309.
Main health risks for young people

 310.
Young people have special development needs, especially around the age of 20. Thus, through their specific lifestyle (exploration and experimentation), but also depending on social, cultural, economic and financial factors, young people are exposed to various health risks , such as risky behaviors, certain developmental disorders, mental suffering, or difficulties related to affective and sexual life.

 311.
All social, cultural and environmental factors are all important. But most of the time young people are unaware of the harms associated with risky behaviors , lack the skills to protect themselves and suffer from a lack of knowledge on how and where to seek help for their health problems. By intervening at this early stage in life, however, many chronic diseases later in life can be prevented .

 312.
The relationship of young people to health

 313.
Heyme and Opinion Way conducted a survey in July 2019 showing the relationship of young people, particularly students, to health. Although the vast majority of them declared themselves to be in good health, this study nevertheless highlighted a plethora of risky behaviors and psychological disorders affecting our young people . Summary of the main elements of this survey available here.

 314.
Degree of attention paid to health

 315.
Only 10% of young people’s monthly budget is devoted to physical activity and health in general , even though these two items are essential to well-being and the prevention of disorders later in life, particularly linked to cardiovascular diseases. . Concerning the field of health more specifically, 83% of students do not or do not systematically consult a doctor when necessary , with 57% of them “ waiting for it to pass ” and 39% who practice self-medication.

 316.
Youth and Nutrition

 317.
The study shows very clearly that bad eating habits set in very early , while a healthy and balanced diet is essential to avoid serious disorders such as obesity and type 2 diabetes for example, pathologies that are increasingly more present in our modern societies.

 318.
Thus, only 43% of young people say they monitor their diet and 32% pay no attention to it . Furthermore, 94% admit to snacking, especially out of greed (54%) or for having skipped a meal. The meal least consumed by young people (45%) is breakfast, a meal that is nevertheless essential to meet the energy needs of the first part of the day and thus avoid fatigue, concentration problems, cravings, or even hypoglycemic states.

 319.
Youth and sleep

 320.
A good night’s sleep is essential to allow the body to recharge the batteries. However, more than half of young people report having sleep problems (55%), of which 33% are due to stress, which mainly causes problems falling asleep, waking up at night, insomnia and waking up early.

 321.
Young people and stress

 322.
Just like working adults, young people also experience stress , particularly related to their studies (exam periods, studies in general and orientation). Thus, although 77% of students are satisfied with their life, 9 out of 10 say they are stressed during the year, 1/3 of whom are constantly stressed . Furthermore, 70% of young people have already felt overwhelmed, overwhelmed by their daily lives, exacerbating their states of stress and anxiety.

The post Young people and health: it's never too early to take care of yourself! first appeared on https://healthhospitalnews.com.

 337.

The ketogenic diet is attracting growing interest among people with type 2 diabetes because it would have benefits, among other things, on weight and glycemic control (blood sugar level). However, it is premature to recommend the adoption of the ketogenic diet to a diabetic person given the lack of knowledge about its medium and long-term effects. Like other highly restrictive diets, the ketogenic diet is difficult to maintain for more than a few months and can lead to overeating in response to deprivation.

 338.
What is the ketogenic diet?

 339.
The ketogenic diet, also called “very low carbohydrate diet” or “very low carb diet” contains mainly fat (lipids) and very few carbohydrates. According to studies, the carbohydrate content can vary between 20 and 50 g per day.. By way of comparison, the diet currently recommended for people with diabetes (conventional diet) and presented in the form of a balanced plate provides between 130 and 225 g of carbohydrates per day! The conventional diet provides enough carbohydrates to meet the brain’s needs, estimated at 130 g per day.

 340.
Adaptation of the body in a situation of severe carbohydrate restriction

 341.
To function throughout the day, the body needs energy from the food we eat. Normally, carbohydrates are its main source of energy. The brain is the exception because a natural barrier blocks access to lipids. In the event of severe carbohydrate restriction, as in the ketogenic diet, the brain must therefore resort to an alternative source of energy called “ketone bodies”.

 342.
During the first few days of a ketogenic diet, the body reacts by drawing its energy from the stores of glucose stored in the liver and the muscles. The use of these reserves releases a significant amount of water which is eliminated in the urine, resulting in temporary and rapid weight loss due to dehydration. Once glucose stores are depleted, the liver uses lipids and proteins to provide energy for the body. The breakdown of lipids by the liver generates ketone bodies which are primarily used to fuel the brain. Part of the ketone bodies are eliminated by breathing, which explains the “fruity” breath present in people who follow this diet.

 343.
Besides this unpleasant breath, some side effects usually occur during the first weeks after starting the ketogenic diet. The most commonly reported are fatigue, headaches, dizziness, nausea and muscle cramps. Hypoglycemia can also occur in some people with diabetes depending on their medications. 1 Constipation sets in quickly and persists due to lack of fiber. This problem is accentuated in the presence of insufficient hydration.

 344.
Effectiveness of the ketogenic diet

 345.
Many benefits are attributed to the ketogenic diet. However, several shortcomings in the studies reviewed limit the scope of the results obtained and make it difficult to evaluate this diet.

 346.
Lack of uniformity in the composition of the ketogenic diet with regard to the type of fat and protein to consume as well as the quantity of vegetables.

 347.
Some conventional diets tested did not meet recommendations and contained a significant proportion of refined starches and foods with added sugar.

 348.
Inability to verify whether the participants actually maintained their adherence to the assigned diet (ketogenic or conventional) until the end of the study.

 349.
Short-term studies, numerous biases, no distinction between diabetics and non-diabetics, absence of a control group, small number of participants, etc.

 350.
Effect on weight

 351.
When there is a significant restriction in calories, the ketogenic diet provides significant weight loss, comparable to that of other diets that are also very restrictive, over a period of 2 to 6 months. In this case, the weight loss observed in the ketogenic diet seems to be caused by the reduction in calories consumed, rather than by the restriction of carbohydrates. After 1 to 2 years, the weight losses observed are modest and similar for all these diets. The inability to maintain such diets beyond 6 months explains these results.

The post What is the ketogenic diet? first appeared on https://healthhospitalnews.com.

 366.

The mouth is not isolated from the human body. At the heart of the tooth is the dental pulp. In the dental pulp are the blood vessels and nerves that supply the tooth. Consequently, the tooth is related to all the organs of our body through blood circulation. In the same way, all gingival tissue is vascularized and this vascularization is also linked to the general circulation.

 367.
In the event of inflammation or infection at the gingival level or at the level of the teeth, the bacteria which are present in the mouth, a tooth or the gums will be able to spread in the body via the blood circulation and install anywhere in the body.

 368.
What is the link between teeth and tendonitis?

 369.
This is the first interaction between oral health and general health. You should know that tendinitis can be caused by untreated tooth decay. It is, in fact, the bacteria present at the level of the cavity that will be grafted onto the tendon. Many top athletes are familiar with this phenomenon and have annual checks so as not to jeopardize their sporting season.

 370.
Another possible case: the inflammation of a tendon will be maintained by bacteria that settle on a tendon, which is then weakened.

 371.
What is the link between teeth and diabetes?

 372.
There have been many studies done on diabetes. One of the complications of diabetes is periodontitis, or tooth loss. A diabetic patient is more likely to have tooth loss because they have poorer vascularization in the extremities and also a poorer response to inflammation. It is for this reason that the risk of loosening is increased.

 373.
This process works both ways: a diabetic patient who has loose teeth is likely to unbalance blood sugar through the inflammation mediator; this will have an influence on the management of insulin and therefore on the patient’s glycaemia. Some patients have, despite drug treatment for their diabetes, unbalanced blood sugar. The periodontitis is then treated and they regain a balanced blood sugar level; by continuing, of course, to take their medication.

 374.
What is the link between teeth and cardiovascular disease?

 375.
Infectious endocarditis is an inflammation of the lining of the heart. Bacteria attach themselves to this wall. This can be treated with antibiotics, but you can also die from it. The first bacterial entry point for endocarditis is the mouth. In case of endocarditis, a cardiologist will look if there is not a problem at the oral level. More recent studies have confirmed this interaction: when a patient has periodontitis through so-called “red complex” bacteria, this will promote the deposits of atherosclerotic plaques in the coronaries and also reduce the elasticity of the coronary. As a result, the risk of myocardial infarction increases.

 376.
Studies have been done on hemorrhagic strokes. In 20% of these cases, we find these red complex bacteria, responsible for periodontitis.

 377.
What is the link between teeth and Alzheimer’s disease?

 378.
In some patients, bacteria of the red complex, responsible for periodontitis, have been found. This does not mean that, for strokes or Alzheimer’s disease, periodontitis is responsible, but it is undoubtedly a contributing factor.

 379.
What about lung infections?

 380.
Finally, lung infections can also have a dental origin. This phenomenon is often found in the elderly, people with numerous untreated cavities and/or gum disease: they will inhale bacteria likely to cause lung infections.

 381.
The control visit to a dentist must take place once a year. In the case of chronic pathologies, such as heart disease or diabetes, a biannual consultation should be preferred. During the examination, the dentist will look for cavities or gum disease and treat them if necessary.

 382.
Studies have shown that smoking may be one of the highest risk factors in the development of periodontal disease. Smoking increases the chance of developing periodontal disease by 3 to 4 times and may decrease the response to periodontal treatment. Vaping is also harmful. Heat dries the mucous membranes and aggravates cellular stress, increasing the risk of oral cancer.

The post Link between overall health and oral hygiene first appeared on https://healthhospitalnews.com.
