Son Heung-min’s big chance miss continues to be talked about.
Tottenham Hotspur fell to Manchester City 0-2 in the 34th round (net) of the 2023-24 Premier League (PL) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, at 4 a.m. ET on Friday. The loss ended Tottenham’s hopes of a fourth-place finish and a spot in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).
The first half was a tight affair. Both teams shared the best chances. In the fifth minute, Spurs had a threatening mid-range effort from Rodrigo Bentancur. Ederson stretched out to make the save. City didn’t stand still. In the 15th minute, Phil Foden took advantage of a Tottenham mishandling of the ball and went straight at goal, but his shot was saved by Guglielmo Vicario. The first half ended 0-0.
In the second half, City struck first. In the sixth minute of the second half, Kevin De Bruyne’s <a href="https://sportstotolink1.stck.me/profile" title="cutback">cutback</a> was finished by Elling Holland. City took a 1-0 lead.
Tottenham were looking for an equalizer. They had a golden opportunity. In the 41st minute of the second half, a mistake was made in the City defense. Tottenham pounced on it and won possession, leaving Son Heung-min with a one-on-one opportunity. He looked to the far post with his right foot but was denied by goalkeeper Stephan Ortega.
After missing the perfect opportunity, Tottenham failed to equalize and conceded a penalty in stoppage time. Holland stepped up to take the spot kick and the game ended 0-2. And with that, their UCL hopes were completely dashed.
After the game, criticism was directed at <a href="https://www.sportstoto.link" title="스포츠토토">스포츠토토</a> Son Heung-min. It was argued that he missed the perfect chance to lose to Man City and that this was done to prevent Arsenal from winning the title. Arsenal fans were furious.
There are even cartoons that reflect this opinion. The U.S. Bleacher Report published a cartoon of Son Heung-min’s big misses on Friday. There were four cartoons in total, with Son facing Ortega’s goalkeeper and Arsenal players holding the PL trophy behind him. The cartoon ends with Son sweating and his shot being blocked. It was portrayed as if Son had missed out on Arsenal’s title. “This save, or this missed big chance, may have decided the title race,” the media added.
The story didn’t end there. There were also reports that Son had let Arsenal fans down. “Heung-min needed to show more,” said the UK’s Evening Standard. “Heung-min let Arsenal fans down when he was denied by Ortega,” said the Evening Standard.
It’s an absurd claim. The idea of deliberately missing a chance to prevent a rival <a href="https://oncablog.xyz" title="team">team</a> from winning the title is ridiculous. Son Heung-min even said before the 2-1 win over Burnley that he would do his best to qualify for the UCL. “The UCL is where every player wants to be,” he said. We still have three games left. We have to give it everything. In football, sometimes magic happens. We will do our best in the last three games,” he said. Is it time to part ways with Tottenham?
After a full season as a regular starter, his performance is still a question mark. We’re talking about Dejan Kulusevski, a Swedish winger who played alongside Son Heung-min in the 2023-2024 season.

Global sports media outlet The Athletic made the claim. “Italian side AS Roma have made an offer to Tottenham for Kulusevski,” reporter Charlie Eccleshire said on Friday (June 15). Born in 2000, Kulusevski made his debut for Italian Serie A side Atalanta in 2017 at the age of 17, and moved to Italian top-flight side Juventus in January 2020, but failed to make the first team and joined Tottenham on an 18-month loan in January 2022. He then completed a full transfer last summer. The transfer fee was £33 million ($56 billion), including a loan fee.
However, Kuluczewski’s performances this season have not met the expectations of the fans. Playing primarily as a right winger, but also as an <a href="https://www.majortotosite.top" title="토토사이트">토토사이트</a> attacking midfielder when James Maddison was out injured, he has scored six goals and provided three assists in 35 Premier League games this season. Samsung Electronics will launch a family care service in June, an AI solution for older adults who are not familiar with digital devices and services and who need close family support, the company said Wednesday.The service will use Samsung’s Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart home platform SmartThings to let clients check whether their family members are using home appliances or whether there have been any changes in movement patterns.
The service connects users’ older family members’ TVs, refrigerators, water purifiers, induction cooktops, smartphones and other appliances with the SmartThings app to manage their daily routines based on AI technology, Samsung said.For example, when an older parent takes medication, the water purifier will optimize the amount and temperature of water for the medication. The service also allows users to check inside the refrigerator through a camera to see what groceries need to be purchased. Korea has invited K-culture lovers from around the world with special ties to the country to offer them opportunities to experience Korean culture as part of the 2024 Visit Korea Year campaign, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Wednesday.The campaign, dubbed “KOREA Invites U,” will host around 50 participants who are “true fans” of Korea for a five-day tour from May 20 to 24.The culture ministry and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) are co-organizers of the campaign.The 50 participants were selected through story contests and a recommendation process by KTO’s overseas branches.A total of 77,224 applicants from 185 countries submitted their stories throughout the month-long application period from March 19 to April 19, according to the ministry.Some of the stories selected through a four-step evaluation process included those who overcame personal struggles through training in taekwondo and those who went on to study Korean courses at university as late bloomers based on their interests in Korean drama, culture, history and language.Participants will visit tourist landmarks in Seoul on a city tour bus and attend a welcoming event and an exchange meeting at Samcheonggak, a traditional Korean food restaurant in central Seoul.

The Republic of Korea Air Force is reviewing the feasibility of deploying the country’s homegrown supersonic fighter jet, the KF-21, at an air base in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, to better respond to North Korean aerial threats, according to military officials Wednesday.The KF-21, also known by its Korean name Boramae, is set to be deployed beginning in 2026.The Gangneung air base is currently utilized as the home of the Air Force’s F-5 fighters.Officials said Gangneung is strategically significant due to its proximity to North Korea and its role in ensuring swift response capabilities.The F-5, despite being in service for over 40 years, boasts a key advantage over other modern aircraft for its quick turnaround time for flight preparation, rapid takeoff and aerial response.
The KF-21, the 4.5-generation supersonic fighter jet, has been undergoing rigorous testing to verify its performance and combat readiness. Since its founding in 1999, the Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) has been the state-run gatekeeper and guardian of Korea’s cultural treasures.However, in the eyes of CHA chief Choi Eung-chon, who celebrated the second anniversary of his post this week, the agency has, over the years, come to be perceived as inflexibly bureaucratic and regulatory in its approach to historical heritage in the name of conservation.That’s all about to change on May 17 as the organization faces the biggest turning point in its two-decade history, marked by the sweeping overhaul of its policies to measure up to its new name — the Korea Heritage Service (KHS).
“The launch of the KHS signals a reorientation of our policy focus from mere preservation of the past to embracing heritage as a living, sustainable asset with which people of today can actually engage,” Choi, a veteran player in the field with prior roles at the National Museum of Korea and the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, said in an interview with The Korea Times, May 7.“Our aim is to streamline regulations previously tangled in red tape so that the assets can coexist with development efforts without being put at risk of damage.”The state agency’s unprecedented overhaul follows the enactment of the new Framework Act on National Heritage last year. “Our VIP club in Nagarwold, Cambodia, will officially open to the public in mid-February,” Takchun CEO Le Bon Chan reported.
The announcement did not clarify whether the new club is in the original naga world building, which opened in November 2017, or in the nearby naga2.
“We promise to further establish our presence in the Southeast Asian market with our operations in Manila, Philippines, and Da Nang, Vietnam,” Takchun’s Chan was quoted as saying.
The Takchun statement was released on Friday and announced the relocation and reopening of the junket-branded VIP club at Macau City of Dream Casino Resort.
It said the latter’s relaunch was attended by City of Dreams Macau Real Estate President David Sisk, Melco Resorts International Marketing and VIP Joseph Tang, and Takchun shareholder representatives.
The club moved to the second floor of City of Dreams Macau. According to the data, Macau has six game rooms and 14 game tables.
The Takchun statement noted that the company had paid so-called “daily bonuses” to all employees ahead of the Lunar New Year last week.
Cambodia’s NagaWorld Casino Resort is operated by Naga Corp Ltd. The expansion of the complex with the launch of Naga 2 in November 2017 allowed casino operators to increase total gaming revenue by about 94% over the next nine months, the company said.
The Hong Kong-listed company in October said rolling chip sales in its VIP table gaming division rose 128% to more than $25.03 billion in the first quarter of 2018.

Ra Gun-ah, from the United States, was named Ricardo Ratliffe, and he entered the KBL as a foreign player in 2012 and made his first connection with Korea. Ra Gun-ah joined the national team under the national flag and played in two Asian Games, the FIBA Asian Cup, and the Basketball World Cup, playing as an undisputed ace.
Until now, the interests of his team, the professional basketball federation, and the basketball association have all been intricately intertwined in Ra Gun-ah’s contract for Korean stage activities. However, after the 2023-24 professional basketball championship decision, which ended in early May, all related contracts for Ra Gun-ah were terminated, leaving the future in a fog. It is necessary to reconsider Ra Gun-ah’s status, contract status, method, duration, and scale from the ground up.
Ra Gun-ah’s contract with the national team ended after the “2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifier” against Thailand in February and has already put down the national flag. As the contract period with KCC, a professional team, also expired, they had to sign a contract or find a new team. KBL says it will also discuss Ra Gun-ah’s issue at its board meeting in May.
When asked about the possibility of renewing his contract in February, Ra Gun-ah said, “Personally, I want to continue my relationship with Korea. But that’s not something I can decide on. It’s up to the Basketball Association and the KBL.”
In terms of skills, Ra Gun-ah is still good enough to play in both the national team and the KBL. Born in 1989, Ra Gun-ah was evaluated as having seen her skills decline slightly from her heyday when she was in her mid-30s, but she proved her strong performance by appearing to be rejuvenated in the playoffs this season. The problem is that even though Ra Gun-ah gained Korean nationality as a special naturalized player, she is still in an ambiguous state of being classified as a foreign player in the KBL. This was a different treatment from half-Korean (mixed blood) players such as Moon Tae-jong, Moon Tae-young, Lee Seung-joon and Jeon Tae-pung, who were naturalized before Ra Gun-ah and also played for the national team. It was also a decision that considered that if Ra Gun-ah, who had the best skills as a foreign player in his heyday, was recognized as a domestic player, the power imbalance between the team with Ra Gun-ah and other teams would become too severe.
However, many pointed out that it is a contradictory “double standard” to treat a player who gave Korean nationality and wore a national flag as a foreigner in his own league. Of course, Ra Gun-ah also agreed to hire a national team member on condition of receiving a separate allowance, but the scene revealed that she was treated only as a foreign “mercenary” of the national team using the system of naturalized players rather than recognizing Ra Gun-ah as a true Korean player.
The biggest variable in whether Ra Gun-ah will renew his contract again this time depends on whether he recognizes his status as a domestic or foreign player. The problem is that the professional team is still too good to be recognized as a domestic player, and on the contrary, it is worrisome that the decline due to his old age is too high to be classified as a foreign player.
