<content:encoded><![CDATA[We are excited to launch the pre-sale for this weekend’s pop-up at the State Street Market on the app Friday October 25th at 6pm. Kuzak’s Closet will not be selling items at this pop-up, the goal is to give exposure to small businesses around the Bay Area and give them an opportunity to connect with our shopping base and utilize our app for online sales.We encourage you to support them by making a purchase on the app and also come to the market to say hello in person. The app sale will end at noon on Saturday so that vendors can have time to pack and load sold items to bring to the market.The Kuzak’s Closet staff will be at the market to coordinate app purchase pickups, assist with vendor sales, and help load purchases in your cars. So, I have always been around fabric and quilts. I am always looking for well made quilts in nice color combinations. What are your top three tips for us at home?A: There is a lot of info online about how to wash quilts and everybody has their opinions! I only wash or soak quilts that have sturdy fabric and good quilting so that I do no damage…..so most of them are vintage ones made within the last 90 years. I only dry them outdoors on the lawn on a tarp with a sheet over the top to minimize any fading from the sun. (I do not use a dryer.) I only use a front loader washing machine to spin them dry after I have soaked them in a tub. I prefer to see them used as quilts if they are in good shape. If they are not in good shape, then I feel comfortable with up cycling them into jackets or table runners or craft projects, etc. Q: Where would your dream location be to snuggle up and watch the sunset?A: I love snuggling with a cozy quilt and a book, anywhere on the West Coast so I can watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. One can pile up several on a guest bed and enjoy a rotation of them in between guests!! This is a fun question! I don’t think I can pinpoint an exact item that creates inspiration for me but when I think back on growing up I always tagged along at furniture stores and had something to say about a piece my family was interested in. I have a vivid memory of going to a particular store, Stowers Furniture. They always had fresh baked sweets so I would grab a sugar cookie and then head to the kids section of the furniture store and start rearranging the lightweight furniture/ decor. I never received any negative feedback so I continued doing so and here I am today. Your photos are stunning, what is your go to camera brand? Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words! I went to school and studied Fine Art Photography. Believe it or not– most of the images on my website/Instagram are shot on my iPhone. My first thought is Kristen Wiig because she’s hilarious and I think we’d become friends. However my final answer would be Rihanna. Hopefully A$AP Rocky is around to help if she bought something heavy. This business is all about timing, luck, and risks – what are three tips you would give to someone who is just starting out? 3 tips I wish someone shared with me at the start: 1. Don’t be afraid to ask, the worst someone could say is no. 2. Lift with your legs, keep a straight back! 3. My personal motto is “if it’s meant to be, it will be” We know you love glassware, what is your favorite cocktail? If I’m particularly tired after a long day at a market I like to keep it local so we’ll take a stroll down to Pizzetta 211 to pick up some seasonal pizzas and head home to sit on the couch with my boyfriend and dog! If I’m feeling energized another local favorite is Big Fish House – where we’ve become friends with the staff/owner. After my grandmother’s passing, I helped my family to clean out her house. During this process, I became mesmerized by her closet– I loved looking at her clothes and imagining where she might have worn these beautiful garments. I value the stories and memories that vintage items hold. I’ve been wearing vintage clothing since I was fifteen, and have gone through many style phases since then. Some garments still felt too special to part with, so I kept them around. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Taylor, Sarah, and I hit the road to visit two of our upcoming pop-up vendors who have adjacent window spaces inside Ashford Heirlooms in downtown Gilroy last week. Luanne from Happy Hoes Attic has been sourcing treasures for her booth from Kuzak’s Closet sales for several years. She and her husband Gerald are always a delight to see at pickup and if you ever had the treat of joining in on one of our famous Instagram Live sales during the pandemic you often heard me give a shout out to their daughter Leah at the start of the show. Kristin is new to the shop and Luanne introduced her to the Kuzak’s Closet App so we have gotten to know her over the last year as she picks up beautiful primitive furniture pieces and impresses the guys on the crew when she is able to lift just as much as they can. . She and her business partner Dionna have timeless taste their booth has a wonderful feeling of “home”. You should be able to find a sale schedule and see past sale marketing on their website and social media sites.</li>
<li>Social media and email list subscribers, numbers do matter. If a company does not have a presence on social media chances are they will not market your sale on those platforms which is key.</li>
<li>A clear contract with a start and end date, ideally within 3-14 days. No one should have access to your estate for longer than that.</li>
<li>A photo of the owner/staff on the website. Yes, the company should have a website, this is 2024.</li>
<li>A clear structure of costs up front, avoid services that are billed on an hourly rate. </li>
<li>No big deposits.</li>
<li>Marketing, marketing, marketing, your sale should be easily found by local shoppers and beyond.</li>
<li>Value in additional services, hauling, shipping to family members, valuation of contents, shredding.</li>
<li>An itemized sales list at the conclusion of the sale with payment within 5 business days.</li>
<li>Workers compensation, general liability, commercial vehicle liability policies, a COI.</li></ul><h2 class="wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size">You and your client only get on shot to have a smooth and organized estate liquidation. It is important to put some effort into researching how an estate company operates. Many antique dealers have moved to an online platform with items listed on Chairish, 1st dibs, and their own websites. Those who can still secure an in-person retail location often choose to cross promote and list the items in their shop online to help increase traffic into the store and increase the potential buyer pool. The most common misconception we hear from families and real estate agents who inquire about our services is that they think they can call an antique dealer who will buy everything in the house. What makes them different? I can’t put my finger on it but often dealers have a super specific niche where resellers have a broader scope.
