In the realm of display technologies, the VGA (Video
Graphics Array) cable has long been a stalwart companion for connecting
computers to monitors. Despite the advent of newer and more advanced
interfaces, VGA cables continue to play a significant role in certain setups.
This article aims to provide a thorough understanding of VGA cables, exploring
their history, functionality, advantages, limitations, and relevance in the
contemporary tech landscape. Read More: biztipsweb

I. Historical Evolution of VGA Cables

The VGA standard was introduced by IBM in 1987, setting a
new benchmark for video display. The original VGA standard supported a
resolution of 640x480 pixels and 16 colors, a considerable advancement over its
predecessors. Over the years, VGA technology evolved, with subsequent versions
offering higher resolutions and color depths.

II. Anatomy of a VGA Cable

A. Connector Types

VGA cables typically feature a 15-pin DE-15 connector. This
connector is often referred to as a "VGA connector" or "VGA
port." The pins are arranged in three rows of five, and each pin serves a
specific purpose, including the transmission of RGB signals, horizontal and
vertical synchronization signals, and grounds.

B. Cable Construction

VGA cables consist of multiple coaxial cables bundled
together. Each coaxial cable is responsible for carrying a specific color
signal (red, green, or blue), while others handle synchronization signals. The
cable is shielded to reduce electromagnetic interference, ensuring a stable and
clear signal transmission.

III. Functionality of VGA Cables

VGA cables transmit analog signals, making them suitable for
older display technologies, such as CRT monitors. The analog nature of VGA
signals, however, poses limitations in terms of image quality and
susceptibility to interference. As technology advanced, digital alternatives
like DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort emerged, surpassing VGA in terms of signal
quality and versatility.

IV. Advantages of VGA Cables

A. Legacy Support

One of the primary advantages of VGA cables is their
widespread compatibility with older hardware. Many older computers, projectors,
and monitors feature VGA ports, allowing for seamless connections without the
need for adapters.

B. Cost-Effectiveness

VGA cables are often more affordable than their digital
counterparts. This cost-effectiveness makes them a preferred choice in
scenarios where budget constraints play a crucial role.

V. Limitations of VGA Cables

A. Resolution Limitations

VGA cables have inherent resolution limitations. As display
technologies advanced, higher resolutions became the norm, and VGA struggled to
keep pace. Modern applications requiring 4K or higher resolutions necessitate
the use of digital interfaces for optimal performance.

B. Susceptibility to Interference

Being an analog signal, VGA is susceptible to interference,
leading to issues such as ghosting or signal degradation. This limitation
becomes more pronounced over longer cable lengths.

VI. Relevance in the Contemporary Tech Landscape

While VGA cables have largely been replaced by digital
interfaces in mainstream applications, they still find relevance in niche
scenarios. Some legacy systems, industrial equipment, and specific educational
environments continue to rely on VGA connections. Additionally, VGA to HDMI or
VGA to DVI adapters enables the integration of older hardware into modern
setups.

VII. Conclusion

The VGA cable, despite its analog roots and inherent
limitations, remains a resilient component in the ever-evolving landscape of
display technologies. Its legacy support, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability
through converters ensure that VGA continues to have a place in certain corners

repairing the flaws of GPS

GPS in its many regional flavors has end up a ubiquitous
function in telephones, clever watches, vehicles and different connected
gadgets, however for all of the region-primarily based features that it helps
enable (mapping being the maximum apparent) it has numerous shortcomings: it
could be gradual and misguided, it can make a contribution to quicker battery
drain and, as human beings are discovering, it may be manipulated or exploited
in unintentional and alarming approaches.

Today, a U.K. Startup referred to as FocalPoint that's
constructing a software program to improve GPS's operations and accuracy. Safety
is saying a round of investment to retain building out its tech — which
nowadays works as much as 4G and will in destiny also work with 5G and Wi-Fi —
and to roll out the first business deployments of its system with early
customers. Use instances for the tech encompass the correct area for smartphone
apps for navigation or area tracking (for example, for running and different
sports activities), to assist businesses with their navigation offerings (for
example, for transportation or fleet management), and for higher GPS security
general.

Based in Cambridge and as a spinout from Cambridge
University, FocalPoint has raised £15 million ($17 million), a part of a Series
C round that it expects to overall £23 million ($26 million) while wholly
completed. Molten Ventures (FKA Draper Esprit) — which led a £6 million Series
B in 2021– and Gresham House are the two traders so far. Ramsey Faragher, the
CTO, and founder, stated that the alternative investors, which include a prime
U.S. Automobile emblem that could be a strategic investor, maybe final in the
coming weeks.

FocalPoint, about 12 months in the past, had some other
extraordinary business development that is supporting positioned the startup on
ability customers' radar: last September, it appointed Scott Pomerantz as its
CEO. Described as a "dwelling legend in GPS," Pomerantz formerly
founded Global Locate, one of the first corporations to deliver GPS to the mass
marketplace, with its tech utilized by Apple and others. That startup, in the
end, got obtained by Broadcom.

Speaking of Apple, FocalPoint's consciousness of better GPS
is coming at a timely second. Just the day before this, the iPhone large
introduced its newest Apple Watch models, proposing plenty of extra correct GPS
and the usage of a multiband method on devices touting newly extended battery
existence. It is a sign of the concern that tool makers are placing on
enhancing GPS and investments that they would be inclined to make to accomplish
that, and thus the possibility for startups supplying new and extra practical
approaches to crack the market.

As Faragher defined to T.C., GPS improvement to date has largely
been primarily based around chipsets embedded within the devices using it,
which has supposed that enhancing offerings via and massive have relied on new
versions of that hardware. That's a big hill to climb, however, while thinking
about the embedded market of legacy chips and the system of rolling out
subsequent-era hardware: There have been 1.8 billion GPS chipsets shipped as of
2019, with the total projected to grow to 2.8 billion by 2029. Smartphones
account for the bulk of these numbers, but autonomous, street, and drone
gadgets are developing quickly.

Also, GPS is predicated on using one or some other radio
bands; typically, one produces better positioning than the opposite, but it
does so at the cost of draining battery lifestyles in the method.

FocalPoint is working on a software-based solution, Faragher
stated, which he said is a method that the chipsets themselves do no longer
necessarily need to be swapped out or upgraded to enforce its quicker process.

It's running on algorithms, he stated, that are geared
toward expertise in the guidelines of satellite tv for pc signals, the use of
this to advantage better expertise of precise area of a tool — a technique that
not best improves the accuracy of a place, however enables to perceive when a
sign is potentially getting spoofed to appear in one place when it's sincerely
some other place. This is performed with the usage of the band that is less
battery-intensive, which formerly was deemed to have poorer positioning
performance. "The higher appearing sign has constantly been greater
computationally extensive," he said, which is why it impacts battery life.
"We can make the lower best, decrease-battery-intensive signal higher."

Other tactics aim for the same final results. However, Faragher
said they were too steeply-priced and clunky.

"Only navy antennas have been able to stumble on motion
like this earlier than," he stated, with those antennas coming within the
shape of satellite dishes which are the scale of a dinner plate and price
around $10,000 each — a hefty fee. At the same time, hundreds need use across a
wider cell community. "What we are imparting is a army-grade function for
the fee of software program improve," he stated. "We synthesize
highly-priced antennae."

Companies which have labored with FocalPoint to test how its
software works are a key to wherein the organisation is aiming its commercial
enterprise: The startup partnered with Google and its Android crew to test how
its software should improve area of users for its mapping software program in a
tribulation that the two corporations ran in London.

"We tested to Google that earlier than the usage of our
technology, it couldn't use the lower-quality GPS band for its in-house mapping
era," he said. That in-house tech is what Google might use for any
navigation service, inclusive of Google Maps as well as its gadgets. He stated
that Google's approach, which appears at how signals leap off buildings to
determine our area, is helpful with the higher GPS signal; however, no longer the
lower one, therefore being a complete drain on battery life. "We ought to
make that decrease band work."

Faragher would not touch upon whether or not it turned into
operating with Google, or any other unique organizations, at some stage in the
interview.

"Existing GPS technologies are no longer healthy for a reason,
and we're proud to preserve our guide for FocalPoint in its mission to
revolutionize the accuracy of GPS and different global navigation satellite tv
for pc structures and, in doing so, solve the troubles confronted by using
enterprise and purchasers with obscure and risky receivers," stated David
Cummings, an undertaking associate with Molten Ventures, in a declaration. In
addition, we've been impressed with how the team has endured building and
increase given that its Series B investment round is closing 12 months, and are
thrilled to aid FocalPoint on this subsequent thrilling bankruptcy for the
organization".

What’s The Future Of Graphic Design?

Over the beyond decade, freelance sites like Fiverr and

it is clean to get into the enterprise, simply create an account, and of route
Google has made it easier than ever to do this study layout.

about designing a life you can't wait to look. The writer has talked about
three easy steps to forestall drifting and take manipulate of your lifestyles.
But earlier than we communicate about those three steps, let's communicate
about who this book was written for.

If you're a person who enjoys your paintings, you may have a
respected role on your paintings and network, and you like and are loved with
the aid of the ones around you, but deep down you are not interested in the
lifestyles you have got created. You are not excited to stay this lifestyles,
you do not experience much of whatever. Life is going with the aid of so fast,
you don't have time for your self. Your responsibilities are by no means
entire, just entire a undertaking to look a list of other incomplete tasks.

The problem, in keeping with the writer, is that you never
consciously created your habits, you simply let them come to you, and therefore
your lifestyles simply happens to you.

In the book, the writer talks approximately creating a life
that you can not look ahead to. The e-book inspires you to assume the sort of
future wherein, as you consider it, there's this sort of deep experience of
excitement approximately making it show up that it conjures up you in that
moment.

“Create your destiny, 3 easy steps to stop drifting and take
manipulate of your life.” That's what the ebook says, what does the author
imply by drifting? Let's speak about that first.

What is drift?

To apprehend the glide, the author gave only one instance
from his life. He mentioned how he made sure to do whatever he should to be
popular into society. Get suitable grades, get an excellent activity, occupy a
positive position, but deep down he has never concept approximately what he
wants. When he subsequently executed everything society expects from a person,
he felt a certain numbness, he wasn't as glad as he notion he might be. And
after discovering plenty about himself, he found out that these had been not
the matters he wanted.

So that is adrift. Do we now not do that to ourselves? To
make our parents and own family glad, we are seeking extra fulfillment, extra
money, a kind of rat race, but we in no way in reality consider what exactly we
want. And that is exactly what the author does now not need. That is why the
author has talked drastically about whether or not we are adrift or not and
while we are adrift he has offered us with three easy steps to create our
destiny.

These 3 steps are:

wake

disturbing

Design

Let's speak about these steps one after the other.

Shape your destiny

Shape Your Future by means of Dominick Quartuccio

Awakening: Step 1 to form your future

Our beliefs and memories are an inevitable a part of who
we're and unconsciously assist us with every selection we make in existence.
When we awaken, we recognise those ideals and testimonies. They are not in our
subconscious but in our conscious thoughts. So what this indicates is that
after the first step, we end up aware about our subconscious beliefs and tales
and take manage of our choices.

Awakening is a moment whilst some thing modifications inside
us and we are ready to exchange. “Change” that is very painful for the human
spirit. Most of our behavior is automatic and unconscious, and we do anything
it takes to face up to trade. Mainly pain of trade > pain of the equal.
Awakening occurs when the ache of trade is < the pain of the equal. And the
ebook talks approximately how we can flip that equation and wake ourselves up.

Disruption: Step 2 to shape your destiny

What occurs whilst we set our new desires? We are exquisite
excited, arise early within the morning and be productive all day, at night we're
worn-out but happy that we made it. And what occurs the following morning? We
are worn-out, we want to move returned to our "ordinary", stand up
past due and use social networks every now and then, right? This is taking
place due to the fact although we've awoke, we've no longer broken our old
styles. The dictionary which means of 'spoil' is 'destroy' and to create our
new life, our new future, we must smash our vintage patterns. There's a Tony
Robbins quote: "If you do what you have always carried out, you may get
what you have continually gotten." So, to create a brand new life, we need
to ruin our antique habits and styles and create a new one. And how are we
going to

4 Ways Your Website Can Build Trust

In a relationship, absence of trust is a critical factor.
After all, introducing even a small element of doubt can lead to the fact that
the relationship will fall apart. Have faith in it or not, it's the same for
your site's users. Trust is a attractive hot topic when it comes to content
marketing and website design.

"I know. Like. I trust." It's been a winning
copywriting formula for decades. And Google expects "experience,
credibility and credibility" from highly ranked search content.

So why should you care about trust? Because people buy from businesses,
websites and brands they trust.

If your website has even the slightest hint of doubt (you
know, the kind that triggers a customer fraud detector), then you've already
lost the relationship (and the sale). And if you're using a lead generation
website, you can't afford to lose a single lead. Building trust on the Internet
does not take years or even months. There are changes you can brand to your
website design to speed up the trust building process.

Let's take a look at 7 ways to increase customer
satisfaction and gain trust simply by redesigning your website.

1. Site layout and design

Many websites don't take into account the impact of their
design on trust. But think of your web design as your final first impression.

website design and layout

If a user oodles your website and it is out-of-date,
unprofessional, or poorly readable, they will leave. All the great copywriting
in the world won't save you if your client leaves without reading.

Let's say the user decides to stay. They may even know
exactly what type of product they are looking for. But the problem is, if the
site design is clumsy and information is difficult to find, relationships will
suffer.

Even if a customer is desperate for the product or service
you're selling, you won't waste minutes browsing through subcategories or
complicated menu bars.

In addition to keeping Google and users happy, your site
needs to be as functional on mobile as it is on desktop. A modest layout will
work well for users on all devices.

Bottom line: A well-designed website should be simple, easy
to use, and designed with customers in mind.

2. About page

Unless you're a well-known name, an About Us page is essential
to building trust online. Your visitors want to know who they are interacting
with before handing over their email address or credit card.

site about page

The About Us page is a great place to make your brand known
and show potential customers your value. Many well-known brands use their About
Us page to tell stories and create a personal connection.

Writing a good About Us page can be tricky. Resist the
temptation to start every sentence with "I" or "we" when
listing accomplishments. Instead, focus on your About page on your ideal
customers. Let them know what they can find on your website and remind them how
it will benefit them.

Bottom line: The About Us page is one of the most visited
pages on websites. Don't let this premium digital property go to waste!

3. Contact page

For many, nothing worries so much as the lack of contact
information. While visitors can easily find the address and phone number of a
local business, they are suspicious of internet companies that don't even
reveal their email address.

Website design and contact page.

As with the About Us page, customers want to interact with
real companies. By providing a chat box, email address, or phone number, you
will build the trust of potential customers. In an online world where it's becoming
normal to "ghost" someone, your potential customers want to know that
they can contact you if something goes wrong.

Just as bad as not having a contact page is hiding your
contact details in a hard-to-reach place. Why force potential customers to look
for a way to contact you? They might be itching to make a purchase if they only
knew how to find it!

Bottom line: Help visitors by providing your contact
information in a logical place, such as a contact link in your menu or footer.

4. Valuable and useful content

SEO and Google experts commend the power of "quality
content". Not sure if your happy is high quality? If your content is
valuable and useful, you are off to a good start. What if it's conversational?
Even better.

A guide to building customer trust through the power of desig

So, you've developed an innovative product that has been
hugely popular even before it was released. It's also likely that you've found
a brilliant team that believes in your product and will go above and beyond to
launch it. You may even have created a solid marketing strategy to start
promoting your product. But is it enough intended for your product to generate
the desired income? Will your business flourish?

Don't worry, we're not going to keep you. Having received a
more than satisfactory sigh of relief, you can be forgiven for thinking that
the most important work is done. But if you're launching a brand new product,
perhaps from an unknown brand, you're asking your consumers to take a huge leap
of faith to trust you. And like any relationship, customer trust usually comes
with a price (especially when it's left phantom and not written here from
experience).

Digital illustration of building customer confidence

Customer trust needs to be earned, and good design can help
you achieve that. OrangeCrush illustration.

Design is the first thing a consumer sees when looking at
your brand. Design fills in any gaps that are missing from the written word,
conveying your brand's personality, values, and overall personality to the
audience. Design is invaluable to all your marketing assets; when done
effectively, it sets you apart from the competition. The decisions you make
about your brand design can create strong emotional bonds with your target
consumer, but they can also completely alienate them.

In this article, we'll walk you through the easiest ways to
gain customer trust through design. But first, let's dive into why customer
trust is so important.

Why is customer trust important?

Fox reads a newspaper and drinks tea

Crazy Pepper

In today's competitive, consumer-driven marketplace, your
potential customers have many options.

Even for something as simple as a cup of mint tea. There are
tons of branded pack options, and this doesn't even include individual or fresh
leaves. How to convince a person to choose your tea if he has never heard of
it?

Assuming your tea is pretty phenomenal, how do you convince
them to keep coming back to you when there are so many other teas on the field?
The answer is that, in addition to retention and loyalty, customer trust.

1. Trust boosts conversions

You cannot build a successful business without winning and
maintaining the trust of your potential and existing customers. This is even
more important when you're running an online business and don't have the means
to communicate directly with consumers.

Trust is a key factor that helps you convert website
visitors into leads and active leads into customers. This will help you
outperform your competitors and encourage consumers to try your brand.

2. Higher retention

Ideally, your customers will keep coming back to buy more
products/upgrades. Earning the trust of your existing customers is essential to
retaining them as it helps you build strong and long-term relationships with
them. This is especially important given that the cost of acquiring a new
customer is five times higher than retaining an existing one.

3. Increase loyalty

Plus, it builds loyalty and turns customers into dedicated
supporters, which can be huge if you make your brand an authority in the
industry and make it stand out from the competition.

If you have a network of repeat customers who tell their
friends how great you are, your popularity is likely to rise. This, in turn,
will help you attract more paying customers and further increase your income.

In today's competitive market, it is no longer possible to
simply prioritize customer trust. Every aspect of your business, from produce
development and marketing to sales and customer service, should be focused on
building trust. If you deviate from this approach, you risk being left behind.

So how do you earn customer trust?

trust autumn book cover design

Book cover design by armin_design

When you think about gaining customer trust, content
marketing and search engine optimization are the first things that come to
mind.

It also goes without saying that meaningful, valuable,

The Japanese company certainly needs no introduction, especially in the OLED
field, after all Panasonic has focused on this for its top-of-the-range TVs.
Last year the HZ2000 impressed in our review , thanks to a peak brightness
unattainable for other OLED TVs, painstaking care in calibration and its
versatility, since it supports all HDR standards on the market, all elements
that make it a one-of-a-kind TV .

This year Panasonic has decided to raise the bar even more,
making its successor JZ2000 ready not only to best represent video content, but
also games , thanks to the implementation of HDMI 2.1 and an even more accurate
gaming mode.

A truly versatile TV

Panasonic JZ2000 is the spearhead of the OLED 2021 range.
The other models are still unknown, which will be unveiled in March, however
the Japanese house has allowed us to take a look at its top of the range, albeit
in a virtual way. Also this year Panasonic aims to impress with an
above-average peak brightness of OLEDs , thanks to the use of a Master HDR OLED
Professional Edition panel, which should allow to reach up to 1000 peak nits.
This year there will also be competition from Sony with its A90J , also with a
higher brightness than average, but the fact remains that Panasonic has been
offering solutions of this type for some time and has more experience in
pushing to the maximum. an OLED panel.

JZ2000 will come in 55 and 65-inch cuts and will be equipped
with the new HCX Pro AI Processor image processor : its impact on video quality
and audio output is still to be discovered, what is certain is that compared to
last year they have been made significant steps forward in the gaming field,
also possible thanks to this more advanced processor, which has an impact on
input lag.

During our test with the HZ2000 we had measured an input lag
of about 22 ms, this year, thanks to the test carried out by Panasonic during the
presentation, we can confirm that this value has dropped to about 14 ms . In
the gaming field, however, the most important novelty is certainly the presence
of the functions related to the game of HDMI 2.1 . Full support is given to 4K
at 120 Hz, VRR and ALLM, we also expect a renewed game mode, given the name
change to " Game Mode Extreme ", which will be able to take advantage
of a video preset designed specifically for the game.

Also on the audio front Panasonic has chosen the best
available, with the integrated 360 ° Soundscape Pro speaker system, compatible
with Dolby Atmos, created in collaboration with Technics. We haven't heard it
yet, but the HZ2000 system was already great, with the new model we'll see if
there are any tangible improvements.

Like the last one, all HDR standards are present, from HDR10
to HDR10 +, passing through Dolby Vision. There is also Dolby Vision IQ and
Filmmaker Mode with Intelligent Sensing, two modes that, thanks to the sensors
integrated in the TV, adjust the image quality based on the light present in
the viewing environment . New this year is HDR10 + Adaptive, which applies the
same formula to HDR10 + content.

On the operating system front , the My Home Screen is
confirmed, however, in version 6.0. Although some low-end models from Panasonic
have arrived in Europe with Android TV, the Japanese company continues the path
traced in recent years, confirming its OS also on the OLED 2021 range. No
indication has arrived on the price or availability in Italy, we will probably
have to wait until March for more details.

event dedicated to 14 today, but in fact it has already unveiled almost all its
cards . Thanks to the advances released to the Korean press, today we know
almost everything about the televisions coming in the coming months. Many
details are missing, this is true, but the path dictated by LG seems clear: as
always, the focus is on OLEDs, but with important innovations for the quality
of vision and in the dimensions of the panels available, without however
disdaining the LCD technology, which can now also count on Mini LEDs, recently
also seen in Samsung .

On closer inspect, probably the most important news is the
arrive of a 42-inch OLED panel, long await even by players given its smaller
than average size.

All the latest from LG

The took place
shortly before the end of 2020, passing almost on the sly. Behind this acronym
hide the first LCD TVs with Mini LED of the Korean house, which has no
intention of focusing only on OLED technology, thus going to compete with
Samsung in a common ground, that of high-end LCDs. For now, no more details are
known, neither on the upcoming models nor on the prices, which will be announced
in the coming weeks.

Much more information is available on the new OLEDs, which
this year will be able to count on greater differentiation. Until now LG has
brought two types of panels to the market, at least in terms of vision quality,
one to equip the entry level of the OLED range and the other mounted on all the
other variants. Except for special design needs, therefore, by purchasing a
mid-range LG OLED you obtained the same visual quality seen in the higher
models, at least until now. With "evo" OLED panels, LG intends to
bridge the gap with Panasonic and its JZ2000 , bringing higher peak brightness
OLED TVs to the market.

We have seen a first practical example of the application of
the new technology with Sony 's A90J , but this year LG will also have a TV
with the same characteristics on the list. It is still unclear how LG achieved
a higher peak brightness, Sony says however that in its model this result was
achieved by increasing the substrates capable of emitting light: before only
the white one was able to do this, now also RGB components are called upon to
generate higher luminance.

At present it is not known in which models this type of
panel will be applied, it is therefore necessary to understand if LG will use
it only at the high end or if it will also be used for the new C1 range, but
the possibility that it will arrive only in the most expensive TVs is concrete.
.

Very important news, announced by LG Display, is the arrival
of OLED panels of different sizes than in the past, starting from the new 83
inches up to the expected 42 inches . Many, especially gamers, are waiting to
be able to buy smaller OLED TVs.

Finding a high quality 42 inch today is simply impossible,
which is why the arrival of this cut is so important. LG Display also announced
that, during the year, OLED panels from 20 to 30 inches dedicated to monitors
will arrive on the market , also an interesting novelty and that we will deepen
as soon as there is more information.

see in the coming months. It starts from the new RealSense ID facial
recognition system up to Tiger Lake-H processors , designed for notebooks. The
news, however, was not lacking even in the desktop field, since the American
house showed the first data relating to its next top-of-the-range processor,
the i9-11900K , the most powerful eleventh generation CPU, arriving within the
first quarter. of 2021.

Based on Cypress Cove architecture , it brings with it
several new features, starting with completely new integrated graphics, based
on Xe architecture, which should bring performance to significantly higher
levels than in the past in this area.

Fewer cores, more IPCs

Intel said at the event that the i9-11900K will be the best
gaming processor you can buy. A strong statement, especially in light of the
excellent results achieved by AMD in 2020 with its Ryzen 5900X that we reviewed
, used for comparison during the presentation. The Cypress Cove architecture
will have to contend not only with this model but also with a particularly
successful generation of AMD processors. Intel says the gain, in terms of IPC,
should be 19% compared to the past, just enough to outperform AMD and deliver
2% to 8% better performance than the 5900X in Full HD gaming, as shown by
popular benchmarks. during the event.

On a technical level, the i9-11900K is made at 14 nanometers
and uses 8 Cores and 16 Threads, two cores less than the current i9-10900K.
According to Intel, the increase in IPC should close the performance gap with
the predecessor with multi-core applications, since the clock will also remain
the same, with the possibility of going up to 5.3 GHz on a single core and
reaching 4.8 GHz on all. the calculation units. Intel therefore renews its
vision of optimizing real workloads, where software, especially games, does not
make the most of processors with a high number of cores. To discover the
integrated GPU based on Xe architecture , which offers 50% more power than that
used previously and fully supports the encoding of the AV1 video standard.

This element is also important in the presence of a
dedicated video card, for example during gaming and simultaneous streaming the
discrete GPU is freed from the video encoding tasks, which are performed by the
integrated one. The TDP is 125W (PL1), but it goes up to 250W (PL2), with the
ability to use full power for 56 seconds.

The new architecture supports 3200 MHz RAM memories without
overclocking (previously it reached 2933 MHz) and provides 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes,
in this way even Intel is now able to support the latest connection standard,
which has long since arrived at AMD. Compatibility is expected with Z490
motherboards, many of which will be able to enable PCIe 4.0 through software
updates, but the new Z590s will also arrive, with many models already presented
in these days.

for a shot.

The exterior design

Corsair wanted to create a quality case with this iCUE5000X
and you immediately notice it from the materials used. In fact, we find
tempered glass on four sides of the chassis, not only in the side panels, but
also in the front and in the upper part. On the left side there is a large
sheet of darkened tempered glass, a choice that makes the interior lighting
less aggressive, lowering its brightness, while concealing many elements that
are not very pleasing to the eye: in our case, the custom power cable of the
RTX 3080 used for the test is practically hidden to the eye, a positive thing
given the difficulties in hiding this element. The right bulkhead is
characterized by a perforated polycarbonate grid, necessary to offer an
alternative in the positioning of a possible liquid AIO heatsink. We have
mounted it in the upper part, but it is also possible to install it vertically
with the air vent right through this grille.

On the front the glass hides the three 120 mm fans supplied,
protected by a first magnetic dust filter; the second instead is present in the
upper area of the case, also covered by tempered glass, while the third is in
the lower one. The use of plastic is reduced to a minimum, in terms of build
quality Corsair has done a great job. The power button, along with that for the
reset, is installed on the top edge and at his side are two USB 3.0 Type A
space and a USB 3.1 Type C .

The presence of a high-speed connection in an accessible
area of the case is a welcome and still uncommon novelty, which proves to be
convenient in everyday use, especially for those who often have to transfer
large amounts of data. Both the front glass and the one at the top are
interlocking and to remove them just apply a little pressure, in this way you
can easily access the dust filters. The two side bulkheads instead are fixed to
the case by four screws, two each. For assembly we recommended the use of
gloves, all the glass parts are covered with a protective film but once removed
it is very easy to leave fingerprints on the glass, in this way you avoid
having to clean it at the end of the work. The dimensions are 520mm x 245mm x
520mm, which is average for a mid tower case like this.

Plenty of space inside

The Corsair iCUE 5000X is a mid-tower that offers plenty of
room for the internal components, which is immediately noticeable as soon as
the side panels are removed. Full support is guaranteed to motherboards on
standard Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX and ATX, but it is also possible to mount the
largest E-ATX motherboards, up to a maximum size of 305x277 mm. The lower area,
where the power supply is installed and where the housing for the mechanical
disks is also located, is covered by a non-removable metal panel, looking up
instead you can see a metal element that serves to hide the cables coming from
the rear of the case. Right in the back Corsair has installed a second bulkhead
below the glass one, used to hide the cables from view. Also interesting is the
RapidRoute system , which allows cables to be routed in a simple and rational
way. Also in the back there are two separate controllers for managing the fans
and lighting via iCUE software.

Inside, three 120 mm fans can be mounted on the front (in
this case already included in the price) or two 140 mm fans, another three 120
mm fans can be mounted at the top (alternatively two 140 mm), while a the other
120 mm fan can be positioned in the rear area. By removing the metal cover for
the cables, you can add three more 120mm fans (or two 140mm) in extraction on
the right side. Wide options for liquid systems, with the possibility of installing
360/280 mm radiators on the front and in the upper part, while the limit of 140
mm remains on the rear. However, owners of 3.5 "mechanical disks will find
a limited availability of slots in which to install them, only two, while for
the 2.5 "SSDs there are 4 total slots. Those who want to highlight the GPU
more can also install it vertically, in this case, however, the PCIe raiser not
included in the price. Still speaking of video cards, the large internal space
allows you to install models up to 360 mm, even the largest variants have no
problem being used inside the 5000X.

Our assembly experience

Space and the possibility of hiding the cables, in addition
to the excellent RGB lighting, are certainly among the strong points of this
case, which allows the creation of PCs with an elegant and very refined
appearance, obviously based on the chosen components. In our case we have
focused on a blue tint when the configuration is completed, no effects or
flashy colors, thus obtaining a sober and elegant configuration. We encountered
no difficulties whatsoever during the installation of the components, the space
to work inside is large and Corsair worked well on cable routing, so much so
that in the component area only those of the AIO system and those of the RTX
3080 power supply can be seen. The latter, being in an area without lighting,
are however well hidden from view thanks to the visual effect given by the
darkened glass. A few more small difficulties are encountered in the
positioning of the power supply, the tunnel in the lower part is not removable
and forces you to install this component by inserting it from the right
bulkhead of the case, with consequent removal of the compartment for the 3.5
"disks . Once positioned these two elements you realize that the space for
the cables coming out of the power supply is not much, the use of a modular
power supply is recommended, but on a $ 189 case like this the choice of
quality components is practically mandatory.

We would also have preferred greater compatibility between
the RGB LED and fan management system installed in the rear of the case and the
Corsair H115i Elite AIO liquid cooler used for testing . At first we thought of
installing this AIO without the fan and lighting controller included in its package,
simply taking advantage of those already present inside the case, the problem
is that the power supply of the pump of this model takes place through a
proprietary connector. The result is that we had to remove the case controllers
to use the PSU controller, no big deal, but it's still a waste of components
that is easily remedied with greater integration between the Corsair ecosystem
products.

In any case, the final result is very satisfying, both
visually and in terms of temperatures, with the air flows that are managed well
inside the case, cooling all the components in the best possible way. An
applause must then be made to Corsair for the excellent sound insulation
offered, but in this case the credit goes above all to the fans installed as
standard and to the H115i Elite heatsink, which paired with the iCUE software
offer truly remarkable hearing comfort. the computer is inaudible during normal
use . With the game the five fans in our configuration start to be heard, but
never reach high noise levels.

Another strong point is the aforementioned iCUE software.,
both in terms of color and performance, with the possibility of finely managing
the fans through the creation of customized profiles. Very important is the
ability of this software to control third-party devices, for example in our
case iCUE correctly detected the ROG Maximus Hero VIII WI-Fi motherboard used
for the test and allowed us to directly control its RGB lighting, same thing
for the RTX 3080 Founder Edition. Too bad for the incompatibility with the
lighting system of the G.Skill Trident Z Royal RAMs, which we instead had to
set from the Asus Aura software.

Think that the term " desktop replacement " was often used , since
they were devices to be used mainly indoors. Portability was therefore confined
to its own walls, an aspect that made the concept of a laptop a little less.
Luckily, enormous progress has been made in the last period, even if
"desktop replacements" have not yet completely disappeared.

However, ASUS ROG seems to have found a solution. During the
2021 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show, the Taiwanese company unveiled
the new lineup of gaming laptops , which includes some interesting devices. techwadia

ASUS ROG Flow X13 and ROG XG Mobile

The product that aims to revolutionize the concept of gaming
laptop is called ROG Flow X13. The latter is in fact a convertible with a
thickness of 15.8 mm and a weight of 1.3 kg . Equipped with a Full HD 120 Hz or
4K screen and support for Adaptive Sync, under the body the device has an AMD
Ryzen 9 5980HS processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. To keep the
temperatures at bay we find a cooling system liquid metal. The estimated
autonomy is 10 hours and the recharge takes place via USB Type-C up to 100W.
There is no lack of support for Dolby Atmos and noise cancellation technology.

Put simply, ROG Flow X13 is already able to offer a gaming
experience all in all of good quality, running as it should be some of the most
famous titles on the market. However, ASUS is well aware that the most
demanding gamers want to go far beyond the GTX 1650. For this reason, the
Taiwanese brand has decided to combine the announcement of ROG Flow X13 with
that of ROG XG Mobile, an eGPU with a thickness of 29 mm and weighing 1 kg.
Think of the classic eGPUs: they generally take up a large part of the desk.

In this case, though, we are talking about a device that can
potentially be stored in the backpack dedicated to your laptop. Under the body
we find a 280W power supply, a cooling system based on vapor chamber and above
all a video card up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.

Considering that ROG Flow X13 is a convertible and can be
used in a variety of modes, the portability and power offered by the
combination ROG Flow X13 and ROG XG Mobile can potentially create an excellent
portable workstation , far from the classic "bricks" to we are used
to in this field. Surely it is all to prove, as we have not yet had the
opportunity to get our hands on the products and the prices are not yet known,
but you understand that this could be a potential revolution for the sector.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE

Another laptop from ASUS that caught our attention during
the 2021 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show is ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE.
Going beyond its specifications, which include a processor up to AMD Ryzen 9
5900HX and a GPU up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, as well as a 4K display at
120 HZ or Full HD at 300 Hz / 3ms, what is striking is the presence of the
latter. screen , located just above the keyboard.

The latter, called ScreenPad Plus, is able to show useful
information during gaming. It could also be useful for both multitasking and
content creating, also given the partnership with Xsplit Gamecaster. The price
is not known in this case either, but ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE is certainly a
product that stands out in the myriad of gaming laptops available on the
market.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14

You will forgive us if we avoid mentioning all the technical
features of ROG Zephyrus G14 here, but you can easily retrieve those. What
struck us about this device are not so much the specifications, which are
traditionally of high caliber for gaming, but the design of the lid. In fact,
ROG Zephyrus G14 attracts attention mainly for the presence of the rear LEDs,
which potentially allow the user to recreate the figures he wants. During the
press event, the Taiwanese company quickly showed some sort of
"Tamagotchi" functionality . Put simply, the ASUS ROG team plans to
implement a virtual companion recreated using the laptop's rear LEDs. We can't
wait to find out more.

The other laptops of the ROG and TUF series

Alongside the solutions that seek to innovate such as ROG
Flow X13 and ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, ASUS has also presented other products
that have a slightly more "classic" vision . We refer to ROG Strix
SCAR 15 and 17, ROG Zephyrus G15 and ROG Strix G15 and G17. The latter have
high-caliber features for gaming and can be explored in our dedicated article ,
as well as through the official website of ASUS ROG .

If you want, there is also a free interactive experienceto
download from Steam. For the rest, we remind you that during CES 2021 the new
TUF series laptops were also unveiled. To learn more about the latter, or TUF
Gaming A15, TUF Gaming A17 and TUF Dash F15, you can refer to our report on the
event .

These names probably won't say anything to most of you, but what if we told you
that this handful of modern engineering Beatles founded a company that
revolutionized the video card and 3D graphics landscape?

The 3dfx was officially created on August 24, 1994 by four
former engineers of Silicon Graphics, the same who was responsible for
designing and producing the graphics technology that was the basis of the
Nintendo 64 (in this article we recall what was its flagship game : Mario 64 ).

Silicon Graphics at that time was a hotbed of incredible
technologies, but its target were supercomputers and workstations and did not
see PCs as a possible source of income, despite the fact that the gaming video
card market was a fertile ground, not yet channeled into the current duopoly.
which sees AMD and NVIDIA as the only competitor.

The mid-nineties was a period of continuous innovation, just
think that in 1995 Microsoft bought a company called RenderMorphics, and that
their 3D API called RealityLab were integrated into Windows 95 becoming the
basis of Direct3D, which became the standard of modern gaming. on PC.
Meanwhile, productions like Doom and its debated fake 3D or 2.5D - as some
liked to call it - had shocked gamers all over the world by giving a taste of
what the future could offer, bringing PC gaming into the third dimension.

At that time Id Software was working on Quake and designing
an engine , Id Tech, ( now in its seventh iteration with Doom Eternal ) capable
of generating real 3D graphics - based on polygons - even on a modest Pentium.
Quake turned out to be a real "killer application" that helped arouse
enormous interest in 3D and its performances and unleashed a real "arms
race" on gaming PCs, to snatch a couple of extra fps on the seminal
masterpiece of id Software.

Voodoo magic

3dfx made its market debut during E3 1996, using the first
version of its Voodoo technology on an Arcade cabinet. Their first product was
called Home Run Derby , the aim of the game was to make a "Home Run"
by hitting a virtual baseball with a real bat: the proprietary technology
calculated by infrared time, inclination and speed of the stroke. Surely the Arcades
were a good entry point to present their technologies to the world, but at that
time the market was saturated and 3dfx had very different objectives.

On August 5, 1996, the iconic Diamond Monster 3D was made
available on the shelves of retailers around the world, based on Voodoo
Graphics technology (chip also called Voodoo 1) and produced by Diamond
Multimedia, as at the time 3dfx did not have its own production lines. The
performances were incredible, just think that with its 50 MHz clock and 4MB of
RAM it was able to push Quake to 50 fps at 640x480 with 65,000 colors, against
the 10-20 fps of the Pentium 120 at 320x200 and 256 colors, making it in fact
the most powerful card on the market.

Diamond Monster implemented the rendering of polygons via
hardware with a series of applicable graphic effects including texture mapping
with filters and mip-map management. The maximum supported resolution was
800x600 at 16 bits per pixel without Z-buffer or 640x480 at 16 bits per pixel
with Z-buffer. The Voodoo series did not handle any computation on primitive
geometries, but rasterized the polygons using the data calculated by the CPU.

The first Voodoo chipset-based video card could only handle
3D graphics and had to be used in tandem with a 2D graphics card connected with
a pass-through VGA cable, so many preferred to call it a "graphics
accelerator" rather than a video card. The Voodoo in fact had two VGA
ports, an input and an output: in the 2D rendering phase it acted as a bypass
and took over for the rendering of 3D.

One of the most significant introductions that accompanied
the release of the Voodoo were the Glide API proposed to the developers, a
package of libraries that improved 3D games in several respects, supporting
geometry and texture mapping in formats identical to those used internally by
the architectures, allowing to interface and communicate directly with the
video card like never before.

In 1997 3dfx tried to solve the problem of using 2 video
cards by producing the Voodoo Rush, which unfortunately turned out to be a
commercial flop. The 2D and 3D chipsets shared the same bandwidth and the
performance was reduced by up to 20% compared to the previous model, to the
point that 3dfx stopped producing it a year after its first marketing.

The second Voodoo model was released in 1998, with its 12 MB
of EDO RAM and 90 MHz clock it conquered the market again. The Voodoo 2
supported multitexturing with a dedicated chip, a feature that quadrupled
performance with games using this technology.

This card was the first to introduce SLI or Scan-Line
Interleave rendering , as it was called at the time by 3dfx: this feature
allowed you to install two video cards in series in order to divide the image
rendering load, guaranteeing no only a net performance boost but bringing the
maximum possible resolution to 1024 × 768.

In 1998 3dfx also proposed a card thatit didn't target the
high-end market like Voodoo 1 and 2, with the Voodoo Banshee 3dfx it wanted to
grab the consumer market . Banshee was based on the technology of Voodoo 2 but
integrated a chip to manage 2D graphics, avoiding users having to buy a second
card to manage it. This model proved to be yet another commercial success for
3dfx, which by now was establishing itself as one of the most important players
in the market.

A terrible misstep

At the end of 1998 3dfx announced the acquisition of STB
Systems, one of the major video card manufacturers and from that moment it
stopped supplying its chipsets to third parties, effectively changing its
business model. This choice brought 3dfx into direct competition with video
card manufacturers, first of all ATI and NVIDIA. On balance we can trace the
beginning of the end of 3dfx back to this specific moment.

The first video card designed and built directly by 3dfx was
the Voodoo 3 and represented a real blow on the technical field. In fact, the
NVIDIA cards could take advantage of the color depth of 24 bits per pixel (16
million colors) against the 16 bits (65,000 colors) of the Voodoo. Despite the
generally higher framerate of the Voodoo, the image rendering was better on the
NVIDIA cards which, subsequently, with Riva TNT and TNT2, also filled the gap
in terms of performance.

In November 1999 at the Comdex in Las Vegas - an exhibition
comparable to the modern CES - 3dfx announced the Voodoo 4 4500, Voodoo 5 5000
and 5500 (based on the VSA100, which differed in the number of chips operating
in parallel on the same PCB ).

3dfx's budget offering, Voodoo 4 4500, was immediately
outclassed by NVIDIA with GeForce 2 MX and all the rest of the lineup by
GeForce 2 and GeForce 2 GTS, which had a much more attractive quality / price
ratio. 3dfx suffered further defeat, those who hoped for 3dfx series 5 as a
possible rematch were shocked, by now the market was always one step ahead and
first the GeForce and then the Radeon DDR became too strong opponents to
defeat.

The fall of the giant

3dfx took a final shot of the tail to try to keep up with
Nvidia by announcing the Voodoo5 6000. The card had 4 VSA100 processors
operating in parallel, at 166 MHz, each with 32 Mb of SDRAM, making the 6000
the first card. with 128 MB of RAM in the world. The huge $ 600 price tag, the
external power connector and some really cool specs turned this card into one
of the most anticipated ever. But while fans around the world eagerly awaited
its new little gem, 3dfx was in dire straits.

A millionaire lawsuit by NVIDIA for patent infringement and
a production line not up to supporting its commercialization led 3dfx to cancel
the 6000 in November 2000. Some Voodoo 5 6000 benchmarks that see it above the
GeForce 2 are still available on the net. Ultra and the Radeon 7500, which at
that time dominated the market, and in some tests it was even superior to the
Geforce 3, which would only be released in February 2001.

Despite being in obvious difficulties, there were two
projects at stake that could have revived the fate of the company. Microsoft
was looking for the ideal graphics chip for its brand new gaming machine, the
Xbox (by the way, find our end-of-gen special on Xbox One here.), but in the
end, as we know, Nvidia's proposal was preferred. The second was a project that
3dfx engineers had been working on for years and that could have completely
revolutionized the market: the Rampage chip .

The video cards based on the Rampage chip should have been
three: the Specter 1000, 2000 and 3000 and they saw for the first time the
introduction of hardware support for transformation and lighting , which NVIDIA
had already brought to its GPUs starting from the GeForce 256.

But by now 3dfx was at the end of its life cycle, its
creditors started a bankruptcy process and, with no hope of being victorious,
on December 15, 2000 it announced the cessation of the business through its
website and it was acquired by NVIDIA, until at that time its biggest
competitor. Many of 3dfx's two hundred employees went to work for ATI on the
"CrossFire" series cards and for NVIDIA, creating the "FX"
series.

3dfx Legacy

In a parallel universe could Rampage have changed the cards
on the table? Difficult to say, the only certain thing is that it would have
outclassed any other card on the market at that time, some of the solutions
adopted on that chip were in fact used by NVIDIA for the GeForce 5 series,
which would be released three years later.

It took only two years and a big misjudgment to bring a
company capable of dominating the market to a disastrous fall. 3dfx had the
merit of being able to interpret and convey the market of the mid-90s, the
introduction of specific APIs for 3D support was revolutionary and for the
first time allowed developers to interface directly with graphics chips,
creating a standard , so much so that some of its engineering solutions are
still part of the genetic makeup of modern video cards.

Apple in 2020. With this move, the apple house will become increasingly
independent from Intel for the CPUs, adding a fundamental element to an already
strongly " Applecentric " ecosystem , which allows a 360 ° control of
future MacBooks and Macs. The new MacBook Air with M1 processor , as well as
its Pro variant, are just the beginning of a path that will lead Apple to
become even more closed to the outside, with the advantage however of greater
optimization and vertical integration.

From the operating system to the software, now to the
hardware, Apple has managed to take an important step towards greater
independence and towards an alternative way to x86 applications, a process
thatMicrosoft has tried to do it in recent years but with poor results . The
truth is that Windows notebooks with ARM processor have not convinced while
with the new M1 processor, net of current limits, there is already an air of
victory.

Iconic design, do we really need news?

One of the main criticisms leveled at Apple with its MacBook
Air M1 concerns its design. Identical to its predecessors, this must be said,
but was it really necessary to change? Just take a look at the Windows world,
where models that reflect the style of the apple abound: why should Apple have
changed lines that are immediately recognizable and become iconic over time?
True, there are no news whatsoever, but the need is not yet felt given the
general quality of the apple notebook.

The style is the classic one seen in many Apple products,
minimalism reigns supreme in the unibody body made of aluminum, available in
Space Gray, Silver and Gold colors. The dimensions are 30.41 x 21.24 cm, while
the thickness is 1.61 cm, for a total weight of 1.29 kg, data that clearly
indicatethe propensity of the MacBook Air to work on the move .

It is not the lightest laptop we have tried, in this area
some Windows products do better, but the build quality is at the top of the
category, conveying a distinct feeling of solidity. By placing your thumb on
the lid, it rises without the bottom of the notebook lifting, showing a screen
with clearly visible but not too thick edges. The keyboard, backlit, has been
revised compared to the past, thanks to the elimination of the butterfly system
in favor of a scissor one .

The feedback of the keys is very good, to the touch the
pressure seems to generate the "click" of a mechanical keyboard, but
with a barely perceptible audio feedback. Difficult to press a button by
accident, the actuation force is slightly above average for laptops and the
short key stroke does not cause any discomfort when typing.

The TouchPad, as always in a central position, is generously
sized and very responsive, there is no shadow of a doubt that, for use on the
move, we are facing one of the best laptops among those we have tried in the
course Some years.

On the sides of the keyboard you can see a part of the frame
perforated, which hides the integrated speakers. Already with the iPhone 11 and
12 Pro Max Apple had made a small miracle, but even with this MacBook Air we
are faced with an audio section that amazes for the quality it manages to
express , despite the small size of the speakers. The sound performance has a
high maximum volume without exaggerating, with a very clear and distortion-free
sound reproduction. The spatiality is also excellent, listening to music or
watching a film the sounds seem to come from a wider position than the
placement of the speakers, making it very pleasant in both uses.

Is everything perfect then? Not really, because the few
connection portsavailable can give some problems. In all there are two
Thunderbolt - USB Type C, one of which is also dedicated to charging, and a 3.5
mm jack. In mobility this limit is felt less, if you need to connect an SD card
reader just an adapter, in a fixed workstation instead the situation changes,
especially in this period where you often work from home. What if you need to
connect a mouse, keyboard, and external memory drive to your MacBook Air, along
with perhaps a higher quality webcam?

Those who already have wireless input devices have an
advantage, for everyone else the purchase of an external hub becomes
practically mandatory. Speaking of webcam, Apple could have updated it with a
unit capable of reaching 1080p, while this stops at 720p : given the importance
of this element in the last period, perhaps an upgrade would have done well.

M1, the new architecture

The Apple Silicon M1 processor is the pivot around which
Apple has built its new architecture. Actually speaking of
"processor" is not really correct, in this case the term SoC is more
appropriate, because the M1 chip is more similar to a System On a Chip of a
smartphone than the classic computer CPU. The main difference is that many more
components are integrated in an SoC, starting from the GPU, then moving, in the
case of the M1, to the Neural Engine, the Thunderbolt / USB connection
controller, the security chip, the image processor. up to RAM memory. Also in
this case the term RAM is only partially correct, Apple speaks of Unified
Memory , because this memory is shared between processor and GPU.

This is memory that is handled differently than x86-x64
solutions using a similar system. In the case of a normal Windows notebook with
shared memory between GPU and CPU, the RAM is separated into two parts, one
dedicated to the smaller GPU and one to the CPU. The new Apple architecture, on
the other hand, allows complete access to RAM both to the CPU and to the GPU ,
without reserving memory for one or the other component, which can thus access
data without having to move it between one buffer and another. A huge
advantage, especially since the RAM is integrated directly into the SoC, thus
increasing the data transfer speed and the speed with which they are retrieved
in memory.

Such a concentration of silicon in such a small space is
possible first of all thanks to the engineering carried out by Apple, and
secondly to the production process at 5 nm , which makes its first appearance
in a Mac and in a computer in general. Basically it is only the fast NVMe SSD
that is left out, everything else is enclosed in very little space. This offers
an evident advantage in performance, because CPU, GPU and RAM can communicate
at very high speeds and with reduced latency compared to the classic
configurations that we are used to seeing on the AMD / Intel platform.

Obviously there are also disadvantages, so many transistors
generate heat, which as we will see in prolonged tasks makes itself felt, but
above all it makes any update to the specifications impossible: it is not
possible to add RAM or even increase the capacity of the SSD. All components
are soldered , which is why we strongly recommend the variant with 16 GB of
RAM, which ensures greater longevity.

The CPU consists of eight cores, including four
high-performance Firestorms and four Icestorms for the most basic tasks. We
also report the peak clock rates of 3.2 GHz for Firestorms and 2.06 GHz for
Icestorms, but a direct comparison with AMD / Intel processors on this
parameter can only lead to an error. In recent years, the development of
processors has been driven on the one hand by the increase in clock
frequencies, and on the other by the increase in the number of cores. Apple has
chosen a lower clock than other solutions on the market because high
frequencies generate heat, the M1 chip mounted on the MacBook Air is fanless ,
however , which has an incredible view of the power it is capable of
unleashing.

But how did Apple achieve it without clocking up and with
only four high-performance cores? The secret is all in the way in which the CPU
cores manage the instructions to be processed, managing to better parallelize
the work for the SoC : the result is higher performance with the same clock and
number of cores available. Apple has given a twist to the way processors handle
information, a twist that, like it or not, even AMD and Intel would sooner or
later have to take if they want to achieve greater efficiency.

Together with the CPU cores, the SoC integrates a GPU with 7
or 8 cores depending on the model chosen, with a power of 2.5 TFLOPsfor the
7-core variant used during this test. In terms of brute force this is the most
powerful integrated GPU you can buy today, even the Vega adopted by AMD's
mobile CPUs remain behind.

We talked about two versions of the MacBook Air, in fact
there are not many customization possibilities. The basic variant costs € 1159
and offers 8 cores for the CPU and 7 cores for the GPU, along with 8 GB of
LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of memory (version we tested). Alternatively, you can
buy the model with 8 Cores for the CPU and 8 Cores for the GPU, which also
brings the internal memory to 512 GB, for € 1429. Our trial version is the one
with the best price-performance ratio, the problem comes when you decide to add
another 8 GB of RAM, an upgrade costing as much as 230 € . A figure that is too
high, but which we believe necessary to take home a laptop that can last longer
and offer better performance over time.

Native applications, Universal App and Rosetta 2.0

In recent weeks, the benchmarks of the MacBook Air with
Apple Silicon M1 processor have amazed everyone. In reality, today it is very
difficult to make valid comparisons with other architectures, given the extreme
difference between the Apple processor and all the others, not to mention that
it is the optimization of individual programs that makes the difference. The
Mac ecosystem software needs to be updated to make the most of the peculiarities
of the M1 chip, but we are still at the beginning. Obviously the Apple
applications are all ready to use, in addition to these there are the Universal
Apps , designed to make the most of the M1 processor but also the Intel ones,
thus ensuring a smooth transition to the new architecture, without cutting out
the old models. .

It is also possible to run the apps for iPhone and iPad,
perfectly compatible since they already work on ARM architecture in the mobile
environment. However, many software are still designed to work only with x86
instructions, in this case Rosetta 2 takes care of it . It should be noted that
Rosetta 2 is not an emulator, we can define it as a sort of "instruction
translator": when an incompatible software is started, the x86 code is
translated in real time to be understood by the M1 processor, a process that
requires a a little more time at the first start of the application but that
then becomes faster.

Even Microsoft allows you to "emulate" x86
applications on Windows notebooks with ARM architecture, but the results are
almost always poor . As we will see, in the case of the MacBook this does not
happen, we must then consider that the vertically integrated structure of the
Apple ecosystem has seen developers at the forefront of converting applications
. To date there are still many, but Apple intends to make the entire software
fleet fully compatible with the M1 chip, a process that Microsoft has never
managed to start in a Windows on ARM environment. Meanwhile, where the
developers are not getting there is Rosetta 2, which already works very well.

Performance

In general use, ranging from web browsing to document
management and multimedia content viewing, the MacBook Air is simply a
splinter. Never a slowdown, never even a slight uncertainty, the perfect
integration between the Big Sure operating system, the processor and native
applications generate an impressive execution speed for reactivity, after all,
access to RAM memory is facilitated both for the CPU and the GPU, in this way
the data can be recovered or transmitted very quickly. For a use of this type
already the trial version with 8 GB of RAM is able to satisfy every type of
user, even the most demanding will not feel the lack of more memory. If, on the
other hand, you want to use this MacBook Air for more complex tasks, you need
to do a little reflection. The power generated by the MacBook Air and the new
MacBook Pro is pretty much the same, even the absence of a core in the graphics
chip doesn't change the performance much. What makes the difference is the
dissipation system , passive in the case of the Air and active in that of the
Pro, which can rely on an internal fan.

In daily use the two notebooks are equivalent, and this is a
huge step forward for the Air range, the situation changes when you need to
perform complex tasks for an extended period of time, as in the case of video
rendering. In this case the Air is subject to a rather significant thermal
throttling , which limits the frequency of the high-performance cores to just
over 2.2 GHz.

Basically, the difference between the two models is all in
the dissipation system, which allows the Pro to perform complex tasks for a
longer time. This is a usage scenario that does not concern all users, indeed,
the clear majority will not find differences between the Air and the Pro
variant, but it is good to know that if you are looking for a laptop also
suitable for video editing of a certain level, then the MacBook Pro is to be
preferred without delay.

On the benchmark front we tested the MacBook Air both with
Universal App and with applications "translated" from Rosetta 2, the
performance drop is there, but it is limited compared to what happens with
Windows 10 on ARM processor. Rosetta 2 manages to perform a small miracle in
this sense, because almost always you do not even notice that you are using a
non-native application.

Just look at what happens with Cinebench R20 , started
precisely through Rosetta 2.0, which records a score of 1947 in multi core,
very close to that of the i7-1165g7, an incredible result if you think that it
is obtained using a completely new architecture and not intended to run x86
applications.

Moving on to Geekbench 5, already updated to Universal App,
we get 1742 in single core and 7648 points in multi core. The value in single
core is the highest we have ever recorded among all the CPUs released so far ,
even the desktop ones: from the Intel i9-10900K to the Ryzen 9 5950X nobody can
reach this score, stopping just below 1700 points. In multi-core, on the other
hand, it easily surpasses that of the Ryzen 4900H, currently the top of the
range of AMD for laptops, which stops at just over 7000 points.

Results of this type, moreover for the first CPU produced by
Apple, say a lot about the paradigm shift brought about by the M1 chip, which
we remember works without the help of fans . Only the longer tasks to perform
can put him in difficulty, while remaining on more than acceptable levels of
performance.

The performance offered by the M1 SoC is exceptional, but
how does it fare in a complex task like gaming, where is the GPU that is most
subject to stress? We tried Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Alien Isolation,
certainly not very recent titles but the Mac ecosystem is unfortunately
incompatible with many games. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider we ran several
benchmarks at 1280x800 pixel resolution with AA disabled, which generated an
average of 39 fps.

A good number, however, during the test we saw a lot of
micro shots , which make it impossible to play. Alien: Isolation, on the other
hand, turned out to be perfectly playable at the same resolution and with
medium details. Then there are the games of Apple Arcade, the platform launched
last year, however at least for now playing with a MacBook with M1 processor is
not the best , also due to compatibility problems that are encountered from
time to time with some titles, still not ready to work on this model.

During the game, the increase in temperature is felt on the
body, in the upper part of the keyboard, but it is a particular context of use.
Despite the absence of fans, the MacBook Air with M1 chip remains cool during
daily use , a positive result given the power it is capable of unleashing.

Good, but not great, the test results on the SSD, which
shows a reading speed of around 2800 MB / s, stopping at around 2400 MB / s in
our test. A figure that does not disappoint but does not impress, given the
cost required by Apple to switch from the 256 GB version to the 512 GB version,
we would have expected better.

Screen and battery

Over the last year we have notice a drop in the quality of
notebook displays, except for particular models. TN panels are still often used
today, a situation that does not allow to get the best out of modern hardware.
However, Apple has gone against the trend, equipping the MacBook Air with a
13.3-inch IPS panel, with a resolution of 2560x1600, True Tone technology and a
declared maximum brightness of 400 nits.

The real novelty, at least for the Air range, however , is
the support for the P3 color space . To see the difference compared to the past
just import some images taken by an iPhone, thanks to the extended color space
the yield increases significantly.

This screen looks good both inside and out and offers
excellent visual impact, with vivid but not too strong colors. When you
consider the price of the base variant of the MacBook, this is one of the best
screens to be found in a laptop of that price range.

On the battery front, thanks to the total synergy between
SoC and operating system, we are facing a real monster, capable of staying out
of the socket for long periods of time. Even during the busiest days it is
impossible not to reach the end of the working day. In our case, even after 10
hours of use (web browsing, a little Photoshop, watching videos, text editors,
etc) there was still enough battery left for a few hours of extra use. If you

everyone takes into consideration sooner or later. Today's guide aims to
eliminate one of the reasons that leads to giving up: fear . Assembling a
computer can seem like a difficult operation, however with the right amount of
attention and preparation but above all following a logical criterion it will
become a breeze .

Before going into our assembly guide it would be good to
make a list of the necessary:

- Make sure you have all the components of our build
available;

- A set of screwdrivers;

- Patience and attention.

In our path we will take as an examplea mini-Tower
configuration in micro-ATX format and the stock coolers for the CPUs supplied
by the parent companies will be considered for assembly purposes.

PREPARATION OF THE CASE

The first step is undoubtedly to bare the case we have
chosen, removing both side panels and putting them aside until the end. This is
the ideal time to do the preliminary work, i.e. mount the fans, aluminum
motherboard I / O panel, and power supply.

As for the fans, the best advice we can give you is to learn
the basics of airflow, or how to set the airflow inside the case in order to
avoid turbulence and stagnation of heat . In a very traditional way, we imagine
a flow that takes air from the front and throws the heat away at the back.

It is therefore necessary to understand the directionality
of the fans. The general rule is that the side with the diagonal supports is
the back, i.e. the side where the air will EXIT. It would be upright not to
rely on the central sticker because there is no convention on this. Some
companies, such as Noctua, only apply one on the back, while others, such as
Arctic, on both sides.

After creating our air flow, we proceed to insert the power
supply in the appropriate compartment by screwing it as in the photo, making
sure to pour the cables on the right side of the case.

Ultimately, this is a great time to install the motherboard
aluminum I / O panel in the window. The assembly must be carried out from the
inside out. This is a simple snap-together operation, so make sure you have
inserted all four corners correctly. With many modern motherboards this step is
not necessary, because the panel is integrated directly on the board itself.

PREPARING THE MOTHERBOARD

So let's move on to the highlight. First of all, it would be
worth checking that the threaded spacers are present inside the case to be able
to screw the motherboard. Otherwise you can find them in a box surely included
in the package of the case. As for their positioning, usually on the sheet that
represents the virtual space where the motherboard will be fixed you will find
a small legend engraved or imprinted, otherwise it will be on the instruction
booklet.

Once this brief preliminary operation has been carried out,
we can proceed to insert the motherboardand screw it without special warnings.
There are actually two schools of supposed at this point. Some prefer to first
mount the motherboard inside the case and then install the components, while
others prefer the opposite.

MOUNTING THE CPU

It should be noted that, given the enormous variability on
the market, between different sockets by brand and generation but also for
different visions of motherboard manufacturers, you will have to somehow pay
attention to the manual of your motherboard, to have references as clear as
possible.

The first process to be carried out is to lift the handle of
the socket for the CPU and insert the processor paying attention to the direction.

On Intel processor motherboards, there is usually a plastic
plate to remove before assembly, on which a small raised triangle is marked. It
is necessary to remember exactly the angle indicated to make it match with its
analogue printed in gold on the processor.

Similar mechanics for AMD processors in which, however, the
triangle on the motherboard is imprinted directly on the socket. In this case,
particular attention must be given to the handling of the CPU since, unlike
Intel processors, AMD CPUs have male pins with the socket on the female
motherboard , so you could run the risk of bending some PINs, an accident more
frequent than do not imagine.

At this point we lower the bar, also following the advice
given in the motherboard manual and we go to the next step.

RAM ASSEMBLY

This step, with DDR4 memory, may seem more complex than it
actually is. We anticipate that the following procedure is not certain that it
is superimposable to what we will see in the new DDR5 RAM .

The first step is to push out the safety latches located at
the end of the slots on the motherboard. Some motherboards have a fixed side,
so be careful not to break it.

At this point the bank can be inserted into its slot, paying
attention to the reverse. In the central part of the interface with the RAM
pins there is a cleat that divides the bench into two asymmetrical portions.
The slot on the motherboard is exactly complementary, so you just need to pay a
little attention to avoid problems.

Finally, with a slight pressure, the memory will snap into
place and the previously opened latch will return by itself to its initial
position, securing the RAM to the motherboard.

ASSEMBLING THE HEATSINK

This step is extremely different depending on whether you
have chosen an Intel or AMD processor. Stock heatsinks are generally shipped
with pre- applied heat-conducting paste, otherwise follow the "grain of
rice" rule to never make a mistake, ie apply to the exact center of the
heatspreader (the satin aluminum part of the processor engraved with the name)
a quantity equal to exactly one grain of rice , no more and no less.

The AMD Wraith MAX and Wraith PRISM series heatsinks have a
central lever fixing system. The steps to follow are usually explained in a
sufficiently exhaustive manner in the enclosed booklet, but we remind you of
the salient points. Note the orientation of the two plastic brackets on either
side of the processor socket. In the center of the heatsink there is a thin and
flexible metal plate, which will be inserted first on one side and then on the
other between the two plastic supports of the motherboard. Finally, turn the
lever located on one of the two sides of the heatsink to close the system.

To fix the Wraith Stealth and Wraith Spire heatsinks
instead, it will be necessary to remove the plastic plates by unscrewing them
and screwing the heatsink directly in their place. The most useful suggestion
when dealing with dissipation systems with screw fixing is to not screw it one
screw at a time until it stops but proceed at opposite angles one turn at a
time .

Non-K Intel processors ship with included heatsink. Although
it is not the best in terms of aesthetics, in terms of performance, for most
configurations, it can be used as a first choice, especially if we have a
limited budget.

The installation procedure in this case is much simpler:
just align the four side pins with the corresponding holes on the motherboard,
rotate them 90 degrees counterclockwise from the initial position and only then
press them until the heatsink is firmly fixed. .

MOUNT THE STORAGE

In our setup we chose M.2 NVMe memory because the
motherboard allowed it. Otherwise, all homes have a dedicated storage space.

Assembling an M.2 SSD is a matter of moments . It is
necessary to insert the memory on one side, exert a slight pressure to make it
go to the stop and then screw it to the motherboard, as in the photo.

MOUNTING THE VIDEO CARD

This step is obviously optional, especially if you have
opted for a solution with AMD Ryzen APUs. If, on the other hand, you have decide
to insert a dedicated GPU, its assembly requires that you remove the
appropriate number of dust-proof tabs from the case. Most of the latest
generation gaming GPUs occupy two slots , with very few exceptions. This means
that at least two tabs will have to be removed.

Obviously, make the necessary comparisons to have absolute
certainty. Then insert the video card in the appropriate slot, as marked in the
picture, until it clicks.

Finally, recycle the screws that held the tabs to secure the
GPU to the case.

CONNECTIONS

Now it's time for the wiring. A succession of explanatory
photographs will follow.

Particular attention must be paid to the connection of the
fan cables. The case fans will go into the correct ports, conventionally marked
"SYS_FAN" on the motherboard. On the contrary, the CPU heatsink fan
will be connected to the port marked "CPU_FAN". If your motherboard
shows discrepancies, obviously the relevant manual will prevail.

If you have purchased a modular or semi-modular power
supply, it will be your concern to connect the 8-pin power cable (or cables, if
your GPU requires two) to the power supply. At this point we will need to
connect the 8-pin CPU power cable in the upper left corner of the motherboard.
The 8-pin CPU cable differs from that for the video card in that it consists of
two "square" 4-pin blocks, while the power cable for the GPU consists
of a 6-pin block plus a 2-pin extension . Power to the motherboard is provided
by the 24-pin cable.

The final step of our guide is to connect the cables of the
case. The cables to be connected are numerous and very small. The scheme is
usually conventional (you can see it in the images), but we refer you to the
motherboard manual for more safety. Below is a cable marked with the writing
HDAUDIO that will be inserted into the JAUD1 port, usually located at the
bottom left. The last cable in the case is the big blue JUSB3.

If you have included traditional hard drives or SATA SSDs in
your configuration, now is the time to connect them via SATA cable as well.
These hard drives also need a dedicated power supply , so you will also need to
add the appropriate cable to your power supply, if it is a semi-modular.

LAST TOUCHES

Our PC is complete. We just have to connect the external
cables and carry out an ignition test. If you have followed the guide carefully
you will not encounter any problems whatsoever. Proceed to close the panels of
the case, fixing the cables on the right side in the best possible way with
electrician clamps. The cable management is a crucial step to avoid creating
turbulence inside the case , so you can slide the back all the excess, in a
more orderly as possible.

FINAL REMARKS

If you've made it this far, it means you haven't returned
your new components to port on a laptop. Well done!

We invite you to express your questions in the comments,
which will not be missed since the amount of hardware on the market makes it
impossible to create an all-encompassing assembly guide.

If you want to venture into assembling a living room mini
PC, the steps are very similar but the displacement of the components inside
the case will be different depending on the idea behind the small form factor
case , which we talked about in our special. on the best mini-ITX houses of
2020 .

Probably not,
the sector is still young and too exclusive, given the prices that circulate,
but if there is a certainty this is represented by Samsung. The Korean house
was among the first to offer folding devices ready for the general public,
starting with the excellent but improved first generation Galaxy Fold up to the
Galaxy Z Flip. Thanks to the presence of multiple models, and the good name of
the company in this field, Samsung has managed to gain a huge market share in
the foldable segment, which exceeds 70%, in fact we are facing almost a
monopoly. bacobolts.yictic

In the last months of 2020 a new model has also arrived, the
Galaxy Z Fold 2 which we will talk about in this test, which has managed to
improve its predecessor in several respects. Samsung was good at listening to
the criticisms that came with the first variant, so much so that today the Fold
2 appears to be a much more mature smartphone and more ready to take advantage
of the AMOLED folding display that distinguishes it. hollyhealthfitness

Similar design but with many improvements

The concept behind the Fold has not changed from the first
model. Basically, Samsung has created a smartphone that can be used closed for
the most basic operations, thanks to the external screen, and open when
carrying out longer and more complex tasks. In this respect there are no
differences compared to the past, it is in the actual usability of the two
displays that a lot has changed. With the first Fold, in fact, the dimensions
of the external screen were too small to allow comfortable use: the result is
that the internal display was almost always used. This is no longer the case,
with the change to 6.23 inches from the 4.6 inches seen in the pastSamsung has
greatly improved the usability of this panel, which is still too narrow to
write long messages in comfort, but is still more usable in everyday use. construction-bolts.tockhop

The build quality has remained the same, excellent, seen
with the first Fold, as soon as you take this new variant in your hand you
immediately perceive a clear sensation of quality, especially in the hinge,
this revised and improved too.

Its structure appears more solid and rigid and allows you to
position the smartphone in ways that were previously impossible, for example
with one half resting on a surface, where the keyboard is displayed, and the
top one open to function as a display. The external screen now occupies almost
the entire front of the smartphone and is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus,
the most resistant available today, while at the rear, in the camera area, we
find Gorilla Glass 6. techqueer

The internal screen now uses a more glass-like material as a
cover, but the pre-applied protective film does not allow you to feel it on
your fingers. This surface is also a real receptacle for fingerprints and dust:
it is difficult to do better in this case, at least until materials more
similar to the feeling given by glass are used. The positive aspects are a
greater rigidity of the folding panel and above all the disappearance of the
notch for the internal camera , which took away space for vision. Now in its
place Samsung has integrated the cam directly into the screen, a better
solution that also satisfies the eyes better. tc-bolts.dyifo

The sales pack is quite complete and includes AKG USB T ype C
headphones, of excellent quality, and the 25 W charger:shame about the absence
of the cover , to be purchased separately, and given the price of almost 2000
euros at present we would have expected it available directly in the package.

Charging takes place via USB Type C while fingerprints are
available on the front release systems, with the sensor located under the power
button on the right edge, and face recognition. The fingerprint reader is quick
to detect but not always very precise, the unlocking with the face, on the
other hand, does not always manage to recognize the face in low light
conditions: certainly in this respect it could have been done better.

Ergonomics, net of the weight of just over 280 grams, is
excellent when closed, where the narrow and elongated shape allows a good grip.
Once opened, the greater rigidity of the hinges makes the use identical to that
of a traditional tablet, confirming that the innovations made to this element are
important and functional.

Great displays and audio

Samsung has equipped the Fold Z 2 with two high-quality
screens. The external one is 6.23 inches with a resolution of 816x2260 pixels;
has an aspect ratio of 25: 9 and uses Super AMOLED technology. We have used
this panel much more than the first Fold, the increase in size has made it more
functional: you can write short messages like surfing the internet without
problems, even the telephone management starts mainly through this panel. bolts.answerhop

But the news is not lacking even in the main display, which
has grown in size, from 7.3 to 7.6 inches , but also in resolution, going from
2152 x 1536 pixels to 2208 x 1768 pixels. Another important novelty is the
support for dynamic 120 Hz , the same technology seen in the Note 20 Ultra
review . Thanks to it, the smartphone moves easily from a refresh rate of 11 Hz
up to 120 Hz, depending on the task performed: if you need more fluidity, the
OS goes to 120 Hz, when instead more static tasks are performed it can go down
to 11 Hz, thus saving precious battery and at the same time offering greater
fluidity to images.

This display is perfect for web browsing and viewing videos
in a larger format, plus the option to use HDR10 +. The crease in the center of
the panel is still visiblebut, as we also highlighted in the first model, after
a few hours of use it practically disappears from sight and even to the touch
you no longer notice it. Certainly the benefit of being able to use a screen of
this size is much greater than the possible annoyance generated by the crease,
which is not a problem during daily use.

The absence of the notch also greatly improves the vision of
the contents, which can now be exploited without interruptions whatsoever, if
not for the small hole dedicated to the camera.

On the audio front Samsung did a great job , the sound is
very powerful and clean and even during conversations we had no problems
whatsoever. Enjoying a movie with the main screen together with the small but
good speakers of the Z Fold 2 is really a pleasure.

Top performance

Waiting for the Snapdragon 888, which will equip the top of
the Android range of 2021, we can only congratulate Samsung for the excellent
performance offered by this Z Fold 2 . The credit goes in larger part to the
Snapdragon 865+ processor used inside, the most powerful available today, and
to its Adreno 650 GPU, along with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of non-expandable
internal memory. The Snapdragon 865+, combined with Samsung's consistently
great work on its One UI software, has made the Fold Z 2 one of the most
performing and responsive phones you can buy, and moreover with a truly
remarkable autonomy, thanks also to the 4500 mAh battery. At the end of the
days you always arrive, with a more contained use the two days of use are
widely within reach.

In this period of smart working on the other hand, the use
of Wi-Fi rather than mobile networks gives hours of extra autonomy, for a phone
that does not fear even the most busy days. On the connectivity front, the
presence of the Snapdragon 865+ guarantees all the latest standards, from 5G to
Wi-Fi 6, passing through NFC and wireless charging.

Camera and software

On paper, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 does not have a photographic
sector that can compete with the S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra, but in reality
this is not the case. The large 108 Megapixel sensor installed in the
aforementioned models offers greater detail and a more advanced zoom, but the
more traditional configuration of the Fold 2 guarantees a simplicity and a
faster shutter speed , thanks to a faster and more precise focusing.

In all there are five cameras, three in the back that make
up the main module, one front for the external screen and another for the
internal one.

The main module consists of three 12 Megapixel sensors, the
first with wide-angle optics and f / 1.8 aperture, with OIS stabilization and
PDAF autofocus. Then we have an ultra wide-angle sensor with a field of view of
123 ° and an aperture of f / 2.2, while the latter has an aperture of f / 2.4
and is dedicated to 2x zoom without loss of quality.

The yield of the shots is very good (even at night), the
focusing speed is higher than that obtainable with the 108 Megapixel sensor.
The result are images perfectly in line with the product's caliber, even in the
case of the Ultra Wide sensor, only the zoom is penalized compared to the other
top of the range from Samsung. The two 10 megapixel front cameras do their job
very well, the Fold 2 does not stand out for photographic quality but remains
excellent.

As for the software, the work done by Samsung is
exceptional, starting with the three years of guaranteed updates . At the time
of written the device has just been updated to One UI 3, with Android 11 and
security patch of January 2021. The offer of options is huge, advanced
multitasking allows you to open up to three apps at the same time, or to take
advantage of floating windows to have more software open at the same time.

There is also the Flex mode, which is activated when the
smartphone is positioned open only halfway, as if the lower part were a
keyboard and the upper one an independent screen.

In this case, depending on the applications, you can take
advantage of different functions, from an extended keyboard to a better
separation of controls, as in the case of cameras. Samsung has created a
flexible and feature-rich operating system, if we add to this the possibility
of using DeX (a sort of alternative interface designed to be used in
conjunction with an external screen) without wires, we get a smartphone capable
of turning into a tablet. and at the same time skilled of becoming a hub for
big screen work.

portability offers proposed by telephone operators. After the short break, also
caused by the Christmas holidays and Christmas promotions, Wind, Vodafone and
TIM have renewed their price lists with a wide range of winback options for
those who intend to change operators. Let's see what it is. healthbeautystudio

Vodafone

Vodafone this month offers a very rich list, which is
available as always for various categories of users and former customers of the
telephone operator. Let's see what it is:

- Vodafone Special 50 Edition : at a price of 7 Euros per
month, it includes unlimited minutes to all fixed and mobile network numbers,
unlimited SMS and 50 Gigabytes of traffic at the price of 7 Euros per month.
The promotion is available only to those who carry out the portability from
Iliad.

- Vodafone Special 100 Digital Edition : includes unlimited
minutes to everyone and 100 gigabytes of internet traffic at the price of 9.99
euros per month. This promotion is available for Iliad, Fastweb, PosteMobile,
Ho customers. Mobile and other operators with the exception of Very Mobile;

-Vodafone Special Unlimited at 10 Euros per month, on the
other hand, offers unlimited minutes and SMS and 50 Gigabytes of internet
traffic. In this case it is a promotion aimed at TIM, WindTre and Very Mobile
users.

The promotions are accessible through the points of sale or
with home delivery. If you choose the Special 50 Digital Edition there is a
one-off activation cost of 20 euros, while for the other two this cost is 25
euros. Obviously, the cost in question includes both the first monthly payment
and all the accessory costs of shipping and SIM activation.

TIM

TIM also renewed its price list to be offered to its users.
There are three promotions: TIM Special LE, Tim Super LE and TIM Jet GPro
which, as always, are aimed at various categories of users:

- TIM Special LE has a price of 9.99 Euros per month and
includes unlimited minutes and SMS to all 70 gigabytes of internet traffic.
This is a promotion aimed at those who carry out portability from Iliad,
PosteMobile, Spusu, 1Mobile, Daily Telecom, Optima Italia, Plintron Italia
Full, Europe Energy, Green ICN, NV Mobile, Intermatica, NTMobile, Rabona
Mobile, NoiTel, Enegan , DigiMobil and Plink;

- TIM Super LE has the same price and includes the same
bundle of options. Practically this is the twin offer, which however is
proposed by TIM to those who want to activate a new SIM with a new number, as
well as for portability from Fastweb Full, CoopVoce, Tiscali, BT Italia Full
MVNO, Welcome Full and BT Enia Mobile;

-TIM Jet GPro is available online through the "Switch
to TIM" page and includes unlimited minutes and SMS to all 50 gigabytes of
internet traffic. However, the promotion can only be activated by those who
come from Ho. Mobile and LycaMobile, but prices are variable.

TIM Special LE and Tim Super LE have no activation fee, and
can be subscribed by simply calling the dedicated number. TIM Jet GPro, on the
other hand, has an activation cost of 25 Euros, of which 5 for home delivery
and 20 for traffic included, which is enough to cover the first month too.

WindTre

The WindTre list has also been expanded, which this month
kicked off an important campaign of promotions aimed at former customers and
those who have moved on to other shores.

One of the promotions offered to users is WindTre GO 50 Fire
+ LE , which at 6.99 euros per month includes unlimited minutes, 200 SMS and 50
gigabytes of data traffic. WindTre is offering it only to some former
customers, but apparently the distribution would not be widespread on the
national territory.

Also available Go 100 Star + Easy Pay , which costs 7.99
Euros and includes unlimited minutes, 200 SMS to all and 100 gigabytes of
traffic. The payment instead takes place on the current account or credit card.

WindTre is also offering Go 100 Special + LEat a price of
9.99 Euros: in this case, users can choose unlimited minutes, 200 SMS to all
and 100 gigabytes of internet traffic, while the charge is made directly on the
remaining credit.

For all the options in question the activation cost is zero,
and there are no restrictions.

versatility. From the number of controls on the headset it is clear that Razer
has designed it to be used in different areas, in fact it goes from full
compatibility with Xbox Series X and Series S to support for PCs and
smartphones. A significant advantage, because with a single purchase you can
cover a large number of platforms and possible uses, even if this versatility
has limits as we will see. techiescity

In any case, Razer's proposal meets the needs of a large
slice of the public, with a rather clear preference for the world of Microsoft
consoles.

Design and build quality

Razer offers its Kaira Pro in a sales pack as always well
done, with a complete bundle of everything you need. We find the charging cable
with a USB Type C on one side and a Type A on the other and the microphone with
3.5 mm jack to be inserted directly into the headphones. The headset looks very
good at first glance, one of the advantages that are immediately noticeable are
the size, contained for the average gaming headset, and the weight, of about
330 grams, light enough not to tire the head even after hours of use. The
design is certainly one of the strong points of the product, sinuous in the
lines and with a sufficiently aggressive but at the same time sober color
combination. The Razer Green, present in the holder under the headband and
around the ear cushions, blends well with the black, and to these is added
Chroma lighting , available only under the company logo on both ear cups.

The build quality is decent but not exceptional, the use of
metal is limited (but at least it is used for the bow), plastic is the most
used material.

Memory foam was chosen for the cushions, with a breathable
fabric cover, which favors air exchange and reduces sweating. In this winter
period we have not been able to test the product with high ambient
temperatures, but from what we have seen there should be no problems even in summer.

On the design front, the only note that can be moved to
Razer is the lack of a joint to fold the ear cups inwards : given the focus
also on the smartphone world, this detail would have allowed the headset to be
transported more easily. on the move.

Speaking of the pavilions, on the left one there is a small
switch to disable the microphone, the wheel for adjusting the volume, the
status LED, the power button, the USB Type C input and the jack for the
microphone. At its side you can see a small hole that hides an additional
microphone, to be used when the headphones are connected to the phone: in this
mode, in fact, the main microphone cannot be used.

On the right pavilion there is instead the button for
pairing with Xbox Series X / S (via Xbox Wireless standard ), from which you
can also choose between four equalization presets, a wheel for controlling the
game and chat volume and finally the button for pairing via Bluetooth, which
occurs with the 5.0 standard.

Usage impressions

In the introduction of this review we talked about the great
versatility of this headset, but also about its limits. The first is
immediately encountered: on the headphones there is in fact a tag that invites
you to update the firmware before use, an operation that can only be done via
PC . This is not a complex procedure, but since consoles are the main target of
the product, switching from a computer can be inconvenient. Also in the PC
field, there is no compatibility with Razer Synapse, it is therefore not
possible to customize the listening experience except through an additional
application downloadable from the Microsoft Store, which works only if you have
an Xbox wireless adapter, the simple bluetooth connection does not allow access
to the app.

We would have preferred that the headset, on a computer,
could work simply by connecting the cable , but unfortunately this is not the
case. Another problem, deriving from the deep integration with the Xbox world,
is given precisely by Bluetooth. In fact, once the headphones are turned on,
priority is given to the Xbox Wireless protocol, which automatically turns on
the console, a problem if the goal is to use the PC or smartphone, and that
forces you to turn it off manually. In short, the versatility is all there, but
it has not been well integrated into this product, whose favorite use is
clearly paired with a Microsoft console rather than with a PC and smartphone .

Having said this, we found ourselves well with the Kaira
Pro, the sound is quite balanced , without a predominance of bass, which are
present but are heard less than other headsets. The headphones are compatible
with the Windows Sonic standard which makes the sound more spatial, thus
emphasizing the surround effect. The Hyperclear Supercadioid microphone,
despite its high-sounding name, is average for the price range, hard to get
more without a dedicated external microphone.

On the other hand, the comfort is excellent, the low weight
combined with the support for the head under the headband and the excellent ear
cups give hours of play without problems and without causing pressure on the
head. On the battery front, we managed to do more than 15 hours without
recharging, a duration that allows us to overcome even the longest gaming
sessions.

The event saw the presentation of several interesting smartphones, among which
we find the new TCL proposals. The model that stands out is certainly TCL 20
5G, a device that enters the new era of connectivity. The price? € 299.90
through TIM (the product is also in the Vodafone price list ). This is,
therefore, an interesting figure, given that last year the "battle for the
democratization of 5G" took place around 400 euros.

Given also the intriguing devices previously launched by
TCL, a brand that has been trying for some years to undermine the competition
also in this market as well as in that of televisions, the placement of the TCL
20 5G is interesting . Will the Chinese multinational have managed to create a
convincing product? techgeeksblogger

Sales packaging and design

Inside the sales pack there is a convenient transparent
cover , the pin for extracting the SIM compartment, a USB Type-C / USB Type-A
charging cable and a 10W charger. In short, TCL offers a complete equipment to
the user, even if the power supply makes you turn up your nose, since we would
have expected at least an 18W in this price range. We will deals with this in
detail later in the review.

Moving on to the design of TCL 20 5G, the stylistic choices
made by the Chinese brand convinced us. The Mist Gray coloringthat we have had
the opportunity to try in fact manages to properly highlight the "traffic
light" design of the rear camera module, also giving life to interesting
"plays of light". The color that will most appeal to those looking
for something more lively is the Placid Blue one. In any case, note the touch
of class represented by the thin line that divides the rear body, presenting
two different shades of the same color and highlighting the TCL logo. The
backcover is able to hide well the fingerprints left by the hands, a sign of a
good oleophobic treatment. A good job has also been done at the level of the
protrusion of the camera, since the latter is so thin that it is almost
non-existent.

However, you would be wrong to identify TCL 20 5G as a
compact smartphone, given that its dimensions are equal to 166.2 x 76.8 x 9.1
mm , for a weight of 206 grams. In short, we are on values that are not the
most contained, which make themselves felt as a device in hand but which are
now part of the norm. Trying several models we have often come across this
feeling and it has never been a real problem, but it is good to let you know
that if you come from more "compact" smartphones you may have to get
used to it initially.

In terms of build quality, the main material used is
plastic, which guarantees a good overall feel in any case.

On the left side we find the button for the Google
assistant, while on the right the volume rocker and the power button with
integrated fingerprint sensor peek out. The unlocking methods offered by TCL 20
5G, including facial recognition, always proved to be quick during our test.
For the rest, at the top of the smartphone there is an element that will surely
please a certain type of user. In fact, next to the microphone we find the 3.5
mm audio jack for headphones. The speakers and the USB Type-C 2.0 port located
at the bottom complete the circle. The OTG is there, but forget the video
output via Type-C. Summing up, the terms that best fit the TCL 20 5G design are
elegant and complete. Too bad only for weight and size.

Technical data sheet of TCL 20 5G

The era in which there was only a 5G processor for this
price range is now over and in fact the smartphone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon
690 octa-core SoC , with two cores operating at 2.0 GHz and six cores operating
at 1.7. GHz. Next to the processor we find an Adreno 619L GPU, 6GB of LPDDR4X
RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal memory (expandable via microSD up to 256GB).
In short, the configuration is not the best performing on the market, but it is
calibrated to give life to a low cost smartphone with 5G support. The
performance therefore does not compete with other devices in this price range,
but in the daily field it is possible to carry out all the classic operations
without too many problems.

TCL is a brand that has a lot of experience in the world of
televisions. The Chinese multinational has transposed its vision into the
smartphone field, creating a display that is difficult to find under 300 euros.
TCL 20 5G is equipped with a 6.67-inch IPS screen with Full HD + resolution
(2400 x 1080 pixels), 91% screen-to-body ratio, 20: 9 aspect ratio and a
centrally positioned camera hole. The characteristic elements of the panel,
however, reside in the presence of NXTVISION technology and support for HDR10.

We have already known NXTVISION with other TCL smartphones
and is able to improve sharpness, contrast and color, for example making the
image more vivid (you can change color and temperature). The HDR10, on the
other hand, goes to match the Widevine L1 DRMs, which guarantee a Full HD view
of the contents of streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
The multimedia sector is then assisted by Hi-Res Audio certified speakers, able
to guarantee higher sound quality and maximum volume than many other
smartphones in this price range.

The colors of the display are well calibrated and the
brightness of the panel is good for the price range. On the software side there
are various interesting features, from the Ambient Display to the ability to
set the refresh rate in an intelligent way to save battery. Do not get us
wrong: the refresh rate of the screen is equal to 60 Hz, unfortunately we do
not go further, but to increase the autonomy you can choose to rely on a smart
option that automatically adjusts the frequency .

Generally speaking, TCL has done a great job in terms of the
display. The smartphone comes with a film, which in our case was not applied in
the best way and we therefore decided to remove.

Arriving at the photographic sector, we find onetriple rear
camera , flanked by an LED flash. The main sensor is from 48MP with opening f /
1.8, while in support we find an 8MP wide angle (f / 2.2, 118 degrees) and a
third 2MP lens (f / 2.4) for macros. On the other hand, an 8MP sensor with f /
2.0 aperture peeps out. The rear cameras record videos up to 4K / 30 fps
resolution, while the front sensor reaches 1080p / 30 fps. The videos are well
stabilized at the latter resolution, which is also the one set by default, even
if the quality at night leaves something to be desired.

The Camera application is the one we have come to know with
TCL: the features range from Pro to Super Night, through Portrait, Panorama,
Stop Motion, Long Exposure, Super Macro, Slow Motion and High Pixels.

There is also Google Lens, accessible using the appropriate
button on the left with respect to the shutter. The macros all in all come out
well, even if the resolution is always a bit too low for our tastes. The
wide-angle lens instead takes average photos, which are however easily usable
on the social side. All in all, the selfies are good, which will convince the
average user if carried out in the classic contexts.

TCL 20 5G defends itself well in contexts with good light ,
the true limits of the photographic sector come to the surface at night, where
even using the night mode it is not possible to obtain satisfactory shots. In
any case, the maximum zoom that can be reached digitally is 10x, although to
publish the photos on social networks we would not go beyond 2x.

In short, the photographic department of the smartphone is
without infamy or praise: it manages to please the average user, but it does
not reach what we have seen with other devices. If you wants to learn more, you
can find uncompressed photos in our Drive folder dedicated to TCL 20 5G .

For many users, a particularly important aspect is autonomy.
The device is equipped with a 4500 mAh battery, which allows you to arrive in
the evening without too many problems. Taking advantage of the smart refresh
rate option, it is also possible to remain with a good residual charge. Too bad
for the 10W charger in the box, which completes a full charge in several hours.
Thankfully, the TCL 20 5G itself supports 18W charging , so you can use another
power supply to get results closer to those offered by other devices. On the
connectivity front there is no lack of 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac,
Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC. The SIM slot is hybrid: two nanoSIMs or one nanoSIM and
a microSD card.

TIM software and "branding"

The operating system is Android 10 with TCL UI v.2.0.1A.1.Z
customization. At the time of writing, the security patches are those of 5
October 2020. The features implemented by the brand are mainly those we have
already learned about in the past, from NXTVISION to Smart Manager, passing
through the smart refresh rate functionality. In general, the TCL UI is
comfortable to use and, in our view, introduces appreciable features. For the
rest, our test sample has a TIM "branding". This means that on
switching on and off there is a short animation linked to the well-known
telephone operator. Furthermore, the default background shows the TIM logo in
plain sight. There are also some pre-installed operator applications, namely
TIMMUSIC, TIMVISION, TIMpersonal, MyTIM and TIM Smart Kid.

For the less experienced, you should know that it is also
allowed to use SIM cards from other operators without problems. In short, the
only aspect that remains is the animation on switching on and off: the
"branding" is essentially negligible in the case of TIM.

Performance, benchmarks and user experience during the review

TCL 20 5G is a smartphone that by its nature does not aim at
brute force, but to guarantee the user the performance that allows you to use
the device without too many problems during the daily context. The choices made
by the brand seem to focus mainly on multimedia, autonomy and connectivity.

The feeling that we had smartphones in hand is also confirmed
by the benchmarks, which scored 287202 points on AnTuTu and 608 points in
single-core and 1830 points in multi-core on GeekBench. These are good numbers,
which, however, cannot compete with other solutions in this price range.

The main thought goes to the recent Redmi Note 9T, which on
AnTuTu reaches almost 350,000 points. However, we are not even face with a
result to be discarded, as, for example, the Motorola Moto G 5G Plus scored
273469 points on AnTuTu during our review. In short, the performance will not
disappoint the average user, but we are not at the top of the market. Too bad
for the absence of an increased refresh rate, which would have guaranteed that
extra touch of fluidity, even if it could have impacted on autonomy.

Gaming

While performance isn't exactly TCL 20 5G's strong point,
the smartphone can actually be used for some casual gaming as well . Call of
Duty Mobile, in fact, runs well with graphics quality and FPS set to "Very
High". You can also set the FPS to "Max", but going down to
"High" in terms of details. The merit is, in addition to the
optimization of the title, of the "Turbo Game" option, which can be
activated from the settings and can be combined with gaming mode features such
as blocking notifications and constant brightness. Don't expect an advanced
game mode like that offered by other devices, but some basic functionality is
there.

Moving on to other more expensive titles in terms of
resources, however, the limits of the smartphone hardware sector emerge. For
example, ARK: Survival Evolved struggles to appear fluid already from the main
menu and even setting the preset to "Low" there are significant drops
in framerate. As for Dead by Daylight Mobile, the latter runs as it should only
with the "Medium" preset. In short, TCL 20 5G is not the best device
for gaming, but it still manages to guarantee some good satisfaction for less
demanding users .

In a
historical period in which the most commercial brands have managed to arrive
even in physical electronics stores, at prices that are either too attractive
or very high, entrusting completely, or almost entirely, to the aesthetics of
the final product the burden of "selling themselves" , there are also
companies capable of inventing, surviving and even exploding by aiming to
exasperation on quality and ergonomics , in exchange for a substantially small
price difference. healthnutritionhints

Undoubtedly, SecretLab stands out among all, a brand founded
by two competitive gamers in not too distant 2014. A gaming chair designed by
professional gamers. This is probably the extreme strength of the entire
Secretlab ecosystem, which offers just two models of armchairs, in a myriad of
color combinations, extremely similar in terms of technology, identical in
terms of quality, different in target . On the other hand, it is the store
itself that suggests us, based on weight and height, on which of the two to
aim.

In this reviews we will talk about the SecretLab Omega 2020
, the little one of the house, which we have chosen in the particular Cookies
& Cream color. We realize that defining a combination of beige and black as
exotic might be out of place, but the real peculiarity of this combination is
in the SoftWeave fabric on which we really had a lot of expectations.
Absolutely not disappointed.

Unboxing and assembly

The SecretLab Omega arrives in a deep black box and among
the courier's bad words. Its 35 kg are a distinctive trait and represent one of
its most important features.

The pieces that makes up the puzzle of our Omega are
meticulously separated into compartments and layers of packaging foam,
individually sealed and only partially pre-assembled. The assembly tools are of
exquisite workmanship and are contained in an elegant box.

A praise for the accessibility, since the instructions are
printed on a huge panel that covers the upper packaging, the width of the box.
Leaning on the wall at the opening, it will never be necessary to get up from
the floor to read the next step.

At first glance it will seem like a long and complex
operation, especially given the overall weight of the chair. In practice,
however, assembling the SecretLab Omega will take no more than 20 minutes .

Build quality and first impressions

The ADC12 aluminum base is extremely robust and the castors,
two per arm for a total of ten, are coated in PU XL and are quiet and smooth.

The hydraulic piston is a class 4 KGS and the mechanism
placed under the seat, or Multi-Tilt system , allows, through an integrated
suspension , to swing or to finely select the degree of inclination.

The main block consists of armrests, seat and a fully
reclining backrest, like car seats. And it will happen more often than you
imagine to pull the lever, stand horizontally and watch Twitch in complete
relaxation .

The armrests are padded with PU, developed with Secretlab 4D
technology , with metal structure and fully adjustable on three axes: height,
depth and diagonal. Apart from the quality of the structure, the padded top did
not absolutely make us cry out for a miracle. It never gets tired or hot, but
it returns a feeling of a lower category. Perhaps, for our purely personal
taste, we would have preferred them in fabric.

There are two cushions supplied, one for the head and one
for lumbar support, and are padded with SecretLab Signature memory foam. On
this we need to open a proper parenthesis: SecretLab Titan in fact, is sold
with only the head cushion, since the lumbar support is not only integrated
into the back of the chair but is also adjustable to three levels.

Returning to Omega, the cushions are extremely comfortable
and of the highest quality. The head pillow, in particular, is coated with a
cooling gel that actually does what it says, even after particularly intense
and prolonged sessions.

Road test

Finally, let's talk about the seat, cross and delight of the
SecretLab line: there are those who define it as the most comfortable chair in
the world and those who define it as the hardest surface on which they have
ever sat. Neither extreme is in agreement.

The SecretLab vulcanized foam padding might raise some
suspicion at first . It returns a strange feeling to the pressure, more rigid
than one would expect, but not uncomfortable for this, even after several hours
of continuous use.

The Omega and the Titan are armchairs designed with the aim
of providing a comfortable but above all posturally adequate support. In fact,
it's only a matter of days before you get used to the way she wants you to sit,
limiting and alleviating back pain, if caused by incorrect postural habits.

In order to draw conclusions as genuines and truthful as
possible, we decided to test Omega for more than a month for at least 6 hours a
day.

Let's start, without mincing words, stating that the
SecretLab Omega 2020 is a crazy armchair . You could really say everything and
the opposite of everything about this product, but it is undeniable that it is
a chair with an above-average build quality.

The Omega is truly a rock, solidly planted in the ground,
thanks mainly to the sturdy floor lamp. Not a creak or uncertainty, not even in
a horizontal position.

Even the choice of the SoftWeave fabric proved to be a
winner , both because it goes against the trend compared to the lower-end
armchairs generally in medium-low quality synthetic leather, and because the
quality of the proposed fabric is really excellent workmanship and extremely
touch and feel. satisfying.

The back thanks and the butt doesn't complain. Hardness, in
our opinion, is just a matter of approach . And of habit. Without a doubt the
best armchair within this price range, especially given the alternatives.

SecretLab gaming armchairs are on sale on the official store
starting from 440 Euros, but are constantly offered at a promotional price. The
Omega 2020 in particular, it will be difficult if not impossible to buy it at a
price that exceeds 400 euros. Furthermore, by sharing a photo of your purchase
on social networks with the hashtag #secretlab, you can benefit from an
extension of the warranty up to 5 years.

The ideal model between Omega and Titan is suggested by
entering height and weight. There are three materials available: Prime 2.0 PU
synthetic leather, SoftWeave fabric and very high-end NAPA leather. Finally, as
regards the color combinations, we have enormous possibilities of choice,
including some special editions including the line dedicated to The Throne of
Swordsand the most recent iteration inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 , the latest
effort by CD Projekt RED.
