40.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, technology is transforming every aspect of our lives, and healthcare is no exception. One of the most promising advancements in the medical field is the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI). With its potential to revolutionize clinical decision-making and enhance diagnostic accuracy, AI is reshaping the way we approach patient care.

 41.
Clinical Decision Making

 42.
Clinical decision-making lies at the heart of healthcare delivery, where timely and informed decisions can make all the difference in patient outcomes. AI algorithms are increasingly being utilized to analyze vast amounts of patient data, medical literature, and real-time information to provide clinicians with evidence-based recommendations. This not only assists healthcare professionals in making more informed decisions but also streamlines the decision-making process, ultimately improving patient care.

 43.
Personalized Medicine

 44.
AI enables the development of personalized treatment plans tailored to individual patient characteristics, such as genetics, medical history, and lifestyle factors. By analyzing patient data and predicting treatment responses, AI helps healthcare providers deliver targeted therapies that are more likely to be effective and minimize adverse effects. This personalized approach to medicine maximizes treatment efficacy and improves patient satisfaction.

 45.
Improving Healthcare Operations and Efficiency

 46.
AI streamlines administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing electronic health records, and billing processes, thereby improving the efficiency of healthcare operations. Additionally, AI-powered predictive analytics help healthcare organizations anticipate patient needs, optimize resource allocation, and prevent potential complications. By automating routine tasks and optimizing workflows, AI frees up healthcare professionals to focus on delivering high-quality patient care.

 47.
Diagnostic Accuracy

 48.
Accurate and timely diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment and management of diseases. Here, AI is proving to be a game-changer. By analyzing medical imaging data such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, AI algorithms can detect subtle abnormalities and patterns that may not be readily apparent to the human eye. This not only enhances diagnostic accuracy but also facilitates early detection of diseases, leading to better patient outcomes.

 49.
Medical Education

 50.
As the role of AI in medicine continues to expand, medical professionals must stay abreast of these advancements. Institutions are increasingly incorporating AI-related coursework into their medical curricula to equip future physicians with the necessary knowledge and skills. Moreover, resources such as Medicine video lectures and online courses provide accessible avenues for medical students, whether pursuing an MD in Medicine or a PG in Medicine degree, to learn about the intersection of AI and healthcare.

 51.
Challenges and Opportunities

 52.
While the potential of AI in medicine is vast, it is not without its challenges. Concerns surrounding data privacy, algorithm bias, and the need for rigorous validation are paramount. Moreover, there is a risk of overreliance on AI systems, potentially diminishing the role of clinical judgment and human intuition in patient care. However, by addressing these challenges proactively, we can harness the full potential of AI to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.

 53.
Navigating the Hype in AI as a Supportive Tool in Medicine

 54.
While the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine is undoubtedly transformative, it’s essential to address the hype surrounding its implementation. One aspect of this hype revolves around the perception of AI as a replacement for human doctors rather than a supportive tool. Machines lack human qualities such as empathy and compassion, leading to concerns that patients may feel disconnected from their healthcare providers if AI takes center stage. Moreover, there is a lingering mistrust surrounding AI technology, with patients hesitant to place their full trust in algorithms for critical medical decisions. Consequently, AI is often tasked with handling tasks limited in scope to ensure that the primary responsibility of patient management remains with human doctors.

 55.
In conclusion, Artificial Intelligence is poised to revolutionize healthcare in ways we have never imagined. From enhancing clinical decision-making to improving diagnostic accuracy, the possibilities are endless. As medical professionals, it is incumbent upon us to embrace these advancements and leverage them to provide the best possible care for our patients. By staying informed, adapting to new technologies, and addressing challenges head-on, we can truly harness the transformative power of AI in medicine. Together, we can usher in a new era of healthcare that is smarter, more efficient, and more patient-centric than ever before.

The post Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: Hype or Hope? first appeared on Metro Student Media - Elementary Teaching Advice - Get Tips.

 67.

It might be easy to assume that a second-grade teacher would have harder days on average than a tenth-grade teacher, but the truth is, every teacher struggles at a relatively similar clip. This is because being a teacher encompasses much more than just the way in which they lead a classroom, but extends also into the unexpected, such as the ways in which they communicate with parents of their students. Often times this can be one of the most challenging elements of being a teacher, whether as one just getting their start or one who’s tenured. Communication with parents is challenging, because every teacher hopes that they can offer constructive value to their student without coming off as too critical to their parent. If this is a worry, it’s best to approach any communication with a parent with a predetermined goal. For example, if discussing some troubling behavior, maybe find a way to weave in discussing the ways in which the student has improved along with any accomplishments and academic strengths they’ve recently displayed. Most importantly, though, teachers must adhere to their school’s policies and procedures when it comes to any and all parent-teacher interactions. Once these rules have been respected, then teachers can prepare for the parent conversations at hand. To learn more about the ways in which teachers can effectively ready themselves for these interactions, be sure to check out the resource coupled alongside this post for additional information.

 81.

Strong leadership in K-12 education is crucial. It became more apparent when the pandemic started, which forced school leaders to find a better approach to retaining and empowering their teachers.

 82.
With that said, this article details simple yet effective ways K-12 leaders can provide support to their teachers in all situations.

 83.
Maintain clear communication

 84.
Establishing an effective communication line is necessary for several reasons. One is that it helps boost the morale, productivity, and satisfaction of the school staff. As a result, it helps create a positive and thriving working environment.

 85.
Here are some tips that can help K-12 leaders maintain good communication with teachers:

 86.

 87.
Have an in-person talk with them in their classroom instead of your office. It shows them that you respect their time and that their voices matter to you. Ensure removing distractions (i.e., put your phone in silent mode).

 88.
Provide teachers with the best resources to give their feedback, concerns, and suggestions in a constructive manner. Some examples are anonymous surveys, a single-page sheet with your questions, and weekly email communication.

 89.
Take advantage of modern technology to keep teachers and other school personnel updated. Google Hangouts, Slack, and Remind are some of the best messaging apps for principals and teachers.

 90.

 91.
Focus on character strengths

 92.
Capitalizing on teachers’ strengths seems obvious. However, the traditional management approach has always focused only on employees’ weaknesses to improve performance.

 93.
According to a Gallup study, people who use their strengths daily are three times more likely to report a high quality of life and six times more engaged at work. In addition, they are more productive and less likely to quit.

 94.
Some of the ways school administrators like you can encourage teachers to grow in their careers using the strengths-based approach might be by getting an expert strengths-based development coach to help teachers determine what they are naturally good at. Also, setting a good example by sharing your own strengths with your teaching staff and emphasizing that it is okay to have limitations is a great way to show your colleagues that you understand their daily responsibilities. You can further this by creating a rewards system and publicly acknowledging their achievements and contributions.

 95.
Promote stronger collaboration

 96.
Creating a collaborative environment for teachers is no simple task. However, it offers benefits that can positively impact all aspects of the school.

 97.
One of those benefits is working together to brainstorm creative and effective solutions for existing or potential issues in the school. Another great benefit of collaboration is that teachers can improve their teaching practices, which ultimately impacts the students.

 98.
Collaboration between school administration and teachers can take different forms. For instance, principals can support teachers by providing opportunities for pursuing certifications and advanced degrees, such as a doctoral degree in education (Ed.D.).

 99.
Rockhurst University, a top-ranked university, offers a doctoral degree in education. To answer the question: “What can you do with a doctorate in education?” Rockhurst University can help students understand how to lead teaching staff, change policy, and nurture the younger generation. School administrators can also set up a mentorship and peer support program for newer teachers.

 100.
Provide constructive and informed feedback

 101.
Intentional and impactful feedback can help teachers build confidence and further develop their craft. There are different ways K-12 leaders can do this, such as through classroom observations, individualized sessions, and instructional rounds.

 102.
Constructive feedback

 103.
When providing informed feedback to teachers, K-12 leaders should know what constructive criticism is and how to use it. In order to maintain open communication chains between colleagues, discussing and agreeing on the specific definition of “constructive and respectful feedback” is essential. You would not want to leave any room for misinterpretation and misunderstanding.

 104.
Similarly, praising your teachers for their performance is good, but make sure you also provide them with actionable feedback. Not doing this could cause teachers to feel stressed and uncertain about their abilities.

 105.
Language and communication

 106.
Language is key; be mindful of the language you use. Avoid using words such as “should,” which could make teachers less receptive to your feedback. Use open-ended questions for a more meaningful conversation with your teachers. Remember: Like any other employee, teachers want to feel heard and be able to share their opinions.

 107.
Listen effectively

 108.
Effective listening, also called active listening, is probably one of the most crucial communication skills. It goes beyond simply hearing the person’s words. It seeks to understand the emotions, intent, and meaning behind every word.

 109.
When school administrators take the time and effort to listen to their teaching staff, they can use the valuable insights they gather to come up with better solutions and policies. They can also use them to improve school culture and avoid teacher burnout.

 110.
However, listening effectively can be difficult to put into practice. With that said, here are a few things you can consider when communicating with your teaching staff:

 111.
Welcoming but professional

 112.
Initiate an open-door policy where teachers are welcome to discuss concerns, ideas, and suggestions. This kind of policy helps improve collaboration and build mutual respect between administrators and teachers. Avoid overcommunication (i.e., being available to talk the whole day or during weekends).

 113.
Body language

 114.
Pay attention to your non-verbal cues—eye contact, posture, facial expressions, and gestures. That means using open and non-threatening body language: open hands with palms facing up, leaning in, and nodding or tilting your head at key junctures, to name a few.

 115.
Concise communication

 116.
Ask relevant and open-ended questions to encourage longer and more thought-out responses.

 117.
Use paraphrasing to clarify certain statements and show the other person how well you understand his/her ideas. Use responses such as “Tell me more about it” or “I understand” to show you are actively listening.

 118.
How K-12 leaders can support teachers: key takeaways

 119.
K-12 leaders are in the best position to create an environment where teachers feel empowered, respected, and supported. They can achieve this in many ways; focusing on the teachers’ strengths, fostering open communication, providing actionable feedback, and creating a collaborative environment. When teachers feel valued by leadership, they are more likely to stay in the long term and become more motivated to perform well.

The post Simple ways K-12 education leaders can support teachers first appeared on Metro Student Media - Elementary Teaching Advice - Get Tips.

 264.

In the ever-evolving landscape of job hunting, having a strong resume is your golden ticket to securing your dream job. As we step into the year 2023 and beyond, it’s crucial to keep up with the latest trends and techniques to stand out in the competitive job market. Crafting a modern resume that catches the eye of potential employers requires a strategic approach. In this article, we will provide you with the recipe for a strong resume of 2023/2024.

 265.
Professional Summary Section:

 266.
At the very top of your resume, create a Professional Summary section. This is your elevator pitch, your chance to make a strong first impression. In a concise paragraph or bullet points, highlight your key qualifications, skills, and accomplishments. Tailor this section to the specific job you’re applying for, emphasizing how your background aligns with the company’s needs.

 267.
Tailor Your Resume to a Specific Job Offer:

 268.
One of the most significant shifts in resume writing is the emphasis on customization. Gone are the days of using a one-size-fits-all resume for every job application. To create a strong re

 269.
sume in 2023/2024, you must tailor it to a specific job offer. Carefully read the job description and requirements, and then align your qualifications and experiences accordingly. This not only demonstrates your genuine interest but also shows that you’re a perfect fit for the role.

 270.
Use Keywords:

 271.
Many companies now use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to streamline their hiring processes. ATS scans resumes for relevant keywords before a human ever sees them. To pass this initial screening, incorporate keywords from the job description into your resume. Use these keywords naturally within your content, but avoid keyword stuffing. Balancing readability and keyword optimization is key.

 272.
Use Industry Language and Phrases:

 273.
To create a resume that resonates with employers, use industry-specific language and phrases that will be well understood by the employer. Every field has its jargon and terminology, and incorporating these terms into your resume signals that you’re well-versed in the industry. However, be mindful not to overdo it or use jargon that may not be universally understood.

 274.
Quantify Your Achievements:

 275.
In the modern job market, employers want to see concrete results. Instead of vague statements, use quantifiable achievements to showcase your impact. For example, instead of saying, “Improved sales,” you could say, “Increased sales revenue by 30% within six months.” These numbers grab the reader’s attention and provide evidence of your accomplishments.

 276.
Highlight Relevant Skills:

 277.
List your skills prominently, and make sure they align with the job requirements. Include both hard and soft skills, but prioritize those most relevant to the position. Use bullet points for easy readability, and consider incorporating a skills section near the top of your resume to make them stand out.

 278.
Include Relevant Certifications and Training:

 279.
In today’s rapidly changing job landscape, showcasing your commitment to ongoing learning and professional development can set you apart. Include any relevant certifications, courses, or training programs you’ve completed. This demonstrates your willingness to adapt and grow in your field.

 280.
Keep It Concise and Well-Formatted:

 281.
While detailing your qualifications is essential, it’s equally crucial to keep your resume concise and well-organized. A one-page resume is still the norm, but if you have extensive experience, two pages may be acceptable. Use a clean, professional format with clear headings and bullet points for easy scanning. Check out free resume templates from coolfreecv.com.

 282.
Proofread and Seek Feedback:

 283.
Finally, before sending your resume out, proofread it carefully for errors in spelling, grammar, and formatting. Consider asking a trusted friend, mentor, or professional for feedback. A fresh set of eyes can catch mistakes and offer valuable insights.

 284.
Crafting a strong resume for 2023/2024 requires a combination of strategic thinking, customization, and attention to detail. By creating a Professional Summary section, tailoring your resume, using keywords and industry language, quantifying your achievements, and highlighting relevant skills and certifications, you’ll be well on your way to creating a resume that impresses employers in the modern job market. Remember, your resume is your first opportunity to make a lasting impression, so invest the time and effort to make it shine.

The post A recipe for a strong resume of 2023/2024 first appeared on Metro Student Media - Elementary Teaching Advice - Get Tips.

 296.

It is safe to say that some of us are born for leadership – however, there are plenty of great ways to work your way up to top roles if you have the passion and drive! Working as a nurse can be challenging, but there are multiple opportunities out there to grow in this career path.

 297.
Before you start looking at different courses and universities, however, there are likely to be a few tell-tale signs that indicate a move into leadership or management might be right for you. Let’s look at a few moments you might notice in your everyday work that could inspire you to take a step further.

 298.
People look to you for support

 299.
If you are already working as a nurse, you may find that other members of your team seek out your advice and guidance even if you are not a supervisor. This is a good sign that people trust you and, what is more, that you apply some of the most crucial skills in healthcare leadership in your current role.

 300.
If you find that you regularly manage a team and are not a leader in any kind of official capacity, it may be time to investigate additional training and leap into career acceleration.

 301.
If you do find that many people call on you for advice and guidance, it may be worthwhile asking your peers for opinions on whether they think you’d be a good fit for supervision. While you should never depend on others’ views on what’s right for you, it is always good to learn more about how you are perceived.

 302.
You are ready for the next challenge

 303.
While nursing can be extremely rewarding and challenging in equal measure, it stands to reason that – after a while – you may want to try something new.

 304.
Do you find that you are outgrowing your role or that the everyday challenges no longer stretch your mental muscles? It may be time to start looking into new career opportunities.

 305.
For example, now might be a great time to start thinking about enrolling in a course in DNP executive leadership. You can easily take on such degrees from home, via institutions like Baylor University, and gain knowledge and accreditation that will assist your move up the professional ladder.

 306.
The great news is that you can leap into leadership training once you have a few years of nursing under your belt. That means whether or not there are progression opportunities at your current hospital or surgery, you can take the time to progress at home or from afar.

 307.
You want to help more people

 308.
Many people go into nursing simply because they want to help others. It is one of the best reasons to get into healthcare at all! However, if you find that you would like to do more for people – or more for more people – you may find that a leadership position helps you realize these opportunities more clearly.

 309.
As a nurse or medical professional, you will naturally be helping everyday people with a wide array of concerns and illnesses from day to day. It is clear to see and measure the kinds of impacts you’ll have. However, as a leader, you stand to change even more lives for the better, and not just patients.

 310.
Nursing and medical leaders can help ensure various teams and professionals have the tools, confidence, and guidance they need to keep providing exceptional service. That means your influence and expertise could save even more lives!

 311.
You want to share your knowledge

 312.
In nursing, there will always be ample opportunity for you to share your knowledge and expertise far and wide. Whether you are already in a sub-supervisor role or are collaborating with others, you’re always sharing experiences.

 313.
However, moving into leadership means you get to share more than just a handful of experiences. For example, a nurse coach or educator will ensure the students receive up-to-date knowledge on the latest practices, tools, and standards.

 314.
Sharing knowledge and teaching others can feel very empowering. It is a great way to help others realize their potential pathways and dreams of becoming medical experts in their own right!

 315.
If you would like to do more with your experience other than support other nurses and patients daily, working as an educator can help your expertise travel that little bit further. It is entirely possible to lead a team while educating at the same time.

 316.
You are a great communicator

 317.
Communication is everything in nursing and medical practice in general. If you find it easy to talk to others and even influence those around you, you will likely find working as a leader simple to get into. Of course, you will need to make sure that you enroll in an appropriate degree at a reputable organization.

 318.
Communicating well doesn’t just mean you are good at making friends or are particularly friendly. If you find it easy to communicate difficult information with patients as well as people above your station, you may already have a great set of skills to take you into leadership long-term.

 319.
You’ll know you’re an effective communicator if you find it easy to simplify details or to show empathy to others. Empathy is a fantastic trait that all nursing staff should lean into – but being able to translate medical terminology and potentially frightening topics into everyday conversation is a genuine skill.

 320.
All good leaders are confident communicators. They know how to motivate, persuade, and support people without appearing pushy or rude.

 321.
Are you destined for a role in nursing leadership?

 322.
It is fair to say that becoming a great leader in nursing or healthcare will take a lot of time, effort, and intrinsic skill. However, if you already find you are thirsting for that next big challenge or that others rely on you in a semi-supervisory capacity, it may already be time to start looking at the next rung of the ladder.

 323.
The great news is there are plenty of great opportunities to scale up, learn and grow in healthcare – and there are plenty of people who will be willing to support you along the way.

 339.

Designs today are not just about making things look pretty; it also significantly impacts human behavior and psychology. By understanding design psychology, designers can create more effective and engaging designs that influence how people think, feel, and act.

 340.
Here are some ways that design affects human behavior:

 341.

 342.
Color:

 343.

 344.
Color is one of the most powerful tools in a designer’s toolkit. Different colors can evoke emotions and moods and influence people’s feelings about a product or brand. For example, red is associated with passion and energy, while blue is associated with calmness and trustworthiness.

 345.

 346.
Layout:

 347.

 348.
The layout of a design can also influence human behavior. For example, a clean and simple layout can make a product or service seem more trustworthy and professional, while a cluttered layout can make it seem confusing and unprofessional.

 349.

 350.
Visual Hierarchy:

 351.

 352.
Designers use visual hierarchy to guide the viewer’s eye and create a sense of order and importance. By making certain elements stand out more than others, designers can influence how people perceive and interact with a design.

 353.

 354.
Typography:

 355.

 356.
The choice of typography can also affect human behavior. For example, serif fonts are often used in more traditional or serious designs, while sans-serif fonts are used in more modern and casual designs.

 357.

 358.
Imagery:

 359.

 360.
Images can evoke emotions and tell stories that words alone cannot. Using the right images allows designers to create a powerful emotional connection with their audience.

 361.

 362.
User Experience:

 363.

 364.
A design’s user experience (UX) can significantly impact human behavior. A well-designed UX can make it easier for people to use a product or service, increasing their satisfaction and loyalty. Various design courses are available for people who want to advance their careers in design.

 365.
Now, let’s understand how UX/UI affects human behavior.

 366.
UX/UI design significantly impacts human behavior because it is the process of designing digital products that are visually appealing, easy to use, and understandable. UX design focuses on the user’s interaction with a product or service. A good UX design can create a positive emotional connection with the user, increasing engagement and loyalty.

 367.
User Interface (UI) design focuses on the visual elements of a digital product. A well-designed UI design can make a product or service more appealing and easier to use. UX/UI design can influence human behavior using visual cues to guide the user’s attention and actions. For example, using color and contrast can highlight important elements, while icons and symbols can convey meaning quickly and efficiently.

 368.
UX/UI design has a significant impact on human behavior. A well-designed user experience and the interface can create a positive emotional connection with users, guide their attention and actions with visual cues, organize information logically and intuitively, and make products and services more accessible to a broader audience. All these factors can increase engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty among users. There are many designing course worldwide that cater to all these factors very precisely.

 369.
In conclusion, the psychology of design is a powerful tool designer can use to create more effective and engaging designs. By understanding how color, layout, visual hierarchy, typography, imagery, and user experience affect human behavior, designers can create designs that look great and positively impact people’s lives.

The post A Psychological Look At Design: How Design Affects Us first appeared on Metro Student Media - Elementary Teaching Advice - Get Tips.

 381.

As a leader in online learning, University of Phoenix offers over 30 bachelor’s degree programs across industries like business, nursing, technology, education and criminal justice.

 382.
Undergraduate students embarking on a four-year program with the University typically choose a bachelor of arts (BA) or a bachelor of science (BS).

 383.
Here, we’ll explore the differences between BA and BS degrees and share some of the University’s tips on choosing the right undergraduate degree for you.

 384.
What’s the Difference Between a BA and BS Degree?

 385.
BA and BS degree programs both usually require 120 semester credits, equal to approximately four years of full-time study. But they have one major difference: BA programs usually offer a breadth of knowledge in a given discipline whereas BS programs focus on a narrower path of study.

 386.
Some examples of BA programs include those in the liberal arts, languages and social sciences. BS programs often cover subjects under the umbrella of science and mathematics.

 387.
While most subjects always fit into one of the two categories, some schools vary in classifying subjects as BA or BS (for example, communications, political science or sociology).

 388.
Bachelor of Arts Degree Programs Explained

 389.
Studying for a bachelor of arts degree program can allow students to:

 390.

 391.
Explore the breadth of their chosen subject area

 392.
Develop an understanding of this subject’s wider background

 393.
Work through a diverse curriculum to expand their educational knowledge

 394.

 395.
For instance, a University of Phoenix Bachelor of Arts in English degree can enable students to study literature and develop their writing skills while gaining a deeper understanding of various arts subjects.

 396.
A BA degree can be a great choice for those seeking a well-rounded education that integrates focused learning in their chosen subject with general arts studies.

 397.
Requirements for Studying a BA Degree

 398.
To apply for a BA degree program, students usually require a high school or GED diploma or similar proof of their completion of secondary studies. Some colleges or universities may ask applicants to fulfill grade-point requirements or achieve minimum scores on the ACT or SAT exam.

 399.
BA programs usually include general education classes early on, meaning students can expand their knowledge of the subject area. Some colleges consider these sessions prerequisites for students to move on to specialized or advanced classes. The transfer of an associate degree may, in some cases, fulfill these general requirements.

 400.
BA Career Paths

 401.
Due to its broad focus of study, a BA program may benefit those looking to enter careers that prioritize critical thinking and communication skills. These programs can also lead to jobs that require knowledge of a range of topics instead of specific technical skills.

 402.
Some examples of career paths that BA graduates could pursue include roles in niches like web development, management, and engineering.

 403.
Bachelor of Science Degree Programs Explained

 404.
A bachelor of science degree program provides students with a more focused study of a discipline with courses emphasizing subjects in the fields of science and mathematics. Science-related careers that involve specific or functional working knowledge and technical skill sets often require a relevant BS qualification.

 405.
For instance, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), like the one offered by University of Phoenix, may help nurses progress in their careers. Likewise, a computer science degree could help prepare students for career paths in niches like cybersecurity, data science and software engineering.

 406.
Requirements for Studying a BS Degree

 407.
BS degrees tend to have similar application requirements to BA programs (usually, proof of the completion of secondary studies or a specific grade point average, SAT or ACT score).

 408.
However, the general education requirements of BS programs differ from those of a BA. BS students often spend the first couple of years of their programs taking courses on essential subject-related skills before narrowing down to more focused areas of study.

 409.
BS Career Paths

 410.
A BS degree program can lead to many sought-after career paths including those in:

 411.

 412.
Nursing

 413.
Criminal justice

 414.
Environmental sciences

 415.
Accounting

 416.
Computer programming

 417.

 418.
How to Choose the Right Undergraduate Degree for You

 419.
When deciding between a BA or BS undergraduate degree program, students should determine their educational and professional goals. Those pursuing a more practical or technical career may be best exploring a BS degree. Others who hope to develop broad knowledge across a subject area may wish to consider a BA.

 420.
Additional tips to keep in mind when choosing an undergraduate degree include:

 421.

 422.
Examine a school’s institutional catalog and specific course requirements. This will help you gain a deeper understanding of the programs you’re interested in.

 423.
Seek confirmation of your interest in a subject or profession, perhaps by taking career or personality tests and signing up for an internship.

 424.
Learn what requirements you need to enter your chosen profession. This can help you select a degree that can prepare you for any necessary licensure or certifications.

 425.

 426.
Explore University of Phoenix’s online BA and BS degree programs.

This is in part because these institutions are creating these theme-focused bits for these potential students to see. Within the short and to the point videos, potential students can learn about these institutions without having to leave their favorite apps. Some colleges have even gone as far as utilizing recent graduates to create this content and make it as authentic as possible. It’s easy to see why incoming students might want the testimonies of past students rather than actors for a particular college, but not every institution is capable of coming up with original ideas such as this one. For more information on how your institution can more meaningfully create the content that will connect to the right students, please see the resource accompanying this post.

 454.

In our infinitely large Universe, the probability of intelligent alien life existing is high. But while intergalactic travel is unavailable to humans, how do we attempt to identify alien civilizations if they are out there among the stars? Breakthrough Listen, one of the pioneering Breakthrough Initiatives and the project that, in recent years, has helped revitalize SETI (the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), may have the answer.

 455.
Before diving into the latest developments in the program’s search for extraterrestrial intelligence, let’s look at Breakthrough Listen’s fascinating story. It involves science thought leader Stephen Hawking; Yuri Milner, the man behind the Breakthrough Prize (or the “Oscars of Science”); and the millions of dollars he has donated to science philanthropy via his commitment to his Giving Pledge.

 456.
Funding Scientific Discoveries Through the Giving Pledge

 457.
Ten years ago, an Israeli billionaire and tech investor Yuri Milner and his wife Julia joined the Giving Pledge. Driven by a lifelong fascination with the subject of science and extraterrestrial life, in his Giving Pledge letter, Yuri Milner described his wish to boost scientific brilliance and breakthroughs with private capital.

 458.
The Breakthrough Prize and Stephen Hawking

 459.
In partnership with Sergey Brin, Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, and Ann Wojcicki, in 2012, Julia and Yuri Milner launched the Breakthrough Prize, the world’s largest award for science and mathematics. One year later, Stephen Hawking won the Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics.

 460.
Yuri Milner had long considered Stephen Hawking a personal hero. When picking a scientific field to benefit from private funding, Yuri Milner turned to Stephen Hawking for guidance. The theoretical physicist reminded the philanthropist of that big question – are we alone in the Universe? – and suggested Yuri Milner choose SETI.

 461.
The Breakthrough Initiatives

 462.
In 2015, Yuri Milner and Stephen Hawking launched the Breakthrough Initiatives, a set of space science programs that would revolutionize the search for alien civilizations and the future of humanity as a space-faring species.

 463.
The first Breakthrough Initiative was Listen, followed throughout the years by Watch, Starshot, Message, and Discuss. These programs involve searching for nearby habitable planets, planning a nanocraft space mission to Alpha Centauri, encouraging the public to craft a message for alien civilizations, and bringing academics together to spark new ideas about space exploration and extraterrestrial intelligence.

 464.
We Are Listening

 465.
Backed by $100 million in funding and the use of the world’s best telescopes, Breakthrough Listen is humanity’s largest-ever attempt to identify alien civilizations. How? By listening out for “technosignatures” or signals that might originate from intelligent life beyond our galaxy. Our radios here on Earth produce signals that differ from the sort of natural energy radiating from a star. So, assuming alien communications are the same, Listen is on the hunt for unnatural-looking radio signals from fixed points in distant space.

 466.
Listen’s Latest Discoveries

 467.
A recent study from the Jodrell Bank Center for Astrophysics Director Michael Garrett and Berkeley SETI Research Center Director Andrew Siemion announced an evolution in Listen’s approach to analyzing data.

 468.
Before, SETI observations of a target star came cluttered with other cosmic foreground and background objects. Thanks to the European Space Agency’s Gaia telescope, Garrett and Siemion have now obtained far more accurate measurements for observations and, as a result, have revealed more than 140,000 objects that were previously hidden.

 469.
Among the discoveries are exotica such as galactic nuclei, interacting and radio galaxies, and a galaxy whose gravity has formed a gravitational lens. But the list also includes several neighboring galaxies and galaxy groups that, while many millions of light-years from Earth, could prove an ideal technosignature-hunting ground for Breakthrough Listen.

The post Identifying Alien Civilizations Through Yuri Milner’s Breakthrough Listen Initiative first appeared on Metro Student Media - Elementary Teaching Advice - Get Tips.
