What’s most worrying from a cybersecurity perspective is the lack of proactive defense. xAI’s response was a textbook incident response (not that it ever works well for the culprits) – scrub the posts, patch the prompts, and expect for the best. But in the world of modern infosec, that’s not enough. Proper security requires adversarial red-teaming before launch, not after the damage is done. It demands layered controls – robust input validation, output monitoring, anomaly detection, and the ability to quarantine or roll back models when they go off the rails.
Grok’s rollout, timed with the launch of version 4.0, suggests that the model was pushed live without sufficient penetration testing or ethical red-teaming, exposing millions to risk in real time.
The regulatory consequences of irresponsible chatbot development are already unfolding. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Smashing Boundaries, an exhibition supported by Carmarthenshire County Council, opened at Parc Howard Museum on International Women’s Day, 8 March 2025. Running until 19 October 2025, the exhibition documents and showcases the achievements of women in sport from across the county, many of whose contributions have not previously been widely recognised.

The project was developed by CofGâr with funding from the Sporting Heritage Network and is based on research by volunteer Hannah Jones, whose family history provided the initial inspiration. Smashing Boundaries aims to provide a new perspective on our sporting heritage and inspire today’s emerging sports stars.
CofGâr collaborated with local sports clubs, colleges, and Actif Sport and Leisure to highlight opportunities in women’s sports and to identify inspiring stories. A group of young curators from across Carmarthenshire were selected to co-curate the exhibition. Workshops on conducting interviews and film making were organised to enable the young curators to develop experience in media, research and exhibition development, which they used to interview sportswomen around the county.

The exhibition features donated and loaned items such as jerseys, medals, and trophies, accompanied by interpretation developed by the curators. It includes figures from Carmarthenshire’s sporting past, such as Margaret Jennings and Molly Phillips, alongside more recent athletes like Lisa Pudner and Lynne Thomas. The exhibition also features contributions from emerging talents such as Maygan Fox, a rising star in jujitsu. One of the latest additions is a Welsh football jersey worn by Llandeilo-born Ffion Morgan during the Euro 2025 qualifiers; Morgan is currently with the national team competing in the Championships in Switzerland.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Carmarthenshire County Council is inviting all local sports clubs to join an effort to tackle dog-related anti-social behaviour, particularly dog fouling, on marked sports pitches.
In response to growing concerns from clubs and communities, the Council has developed an Evidence Gathering Toolkit designed to help clubs record the frequency and severity of incidents affecting their playing areas. The information collected will support the Council in assessing the scale of the problem and for informing any potential improvements to Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs).
The toolkit was first launched in November 2024, in partnership with Town & Community Councils, with several clubs already engaged in the process. We are now building on that initial outreach with a broader campaign to ensure that all sports clubs across the county have an opportunity to take part.
It’s important to note that the toolkit is designed specifically to address issues on marked sports pitches and is not intended for use in general park areas.
By working together and gathering accurate evidence, we can better protect our valued sports spaces and ensure they remain safe and welcoming for players and spectators alike.
Cllr Edward Thomas, Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure Services, said:

Involving just under 6,000 ewes across hill, upland and lowland systems, the project, which started in 2022, aimed to cut flock lameness towards the 2% Farm Animal Welfare Committee (FAWC) target while lowering antimicrobial use.

Over the project’s duration, average flock lameness fell from 6.3% to 2.7%, thanks to rigorous application of the Five Point Plan — treat, cull, avoid, quarantine, and vaccinate — and ongoing monitoring using MSD Animal Health’s sheep lameness control planner.
The plan provides a clear framework for tackling lameness and, when implemented properly, builds resilience, reduces infection pressure and improves immunity,” said Sonja van Dijk from the MSD Animal Health Market Access Team.

“All ten farms improved their lameness control scores by 94%, rising from 12 to 23 out of 25 — and that translated directly into healthier sheep and financial gains.”
Before the project began, lameness was estimated to be costing the ten farms a collective £84,000 a year in lost productivity and medicine. By 2025, that had fallen to £30,000 — a £54,000 annual saving.
The benefits of vaccination with Footvax® also stood out. “Vaccination cost just £2.58* per ewe per year yet delivered savings of £11.42 per ewe per year — more than a fourfold return,” Ms van Dijk added.
Gerwyn Evans and his family, who farm 950 Welsh and Welsh cross ewes plus 220 ewe lamb replacements on a 640-acre hill unit in Tregaron, Ceredigion, were involved in the project and saw lameness prevalence drop from 8.8% in 2022 to just 0.8% by the end of 2024.
“We’re delighted that lameness has fallen to such a manageable level, especially through some of the wettest weather we’ve ever had,” said Gerwyn.
“This has always been our biggest flock health challenge — and our daughters were spending hours catching and treating lame sheep. But being part of the project helped us really focus on the issue. The difference has been transformative.”
They are now much stricter on culling repeat offenders and quarantine all incoming rams for at least four weeks. Gerwyn added: “Vaccination has made a huge difference too — we started Footvax® in 2023. It’s a no-brainer — vaccine is far cheaper than constant use of antibiotics, which we want to move away from anyway.” 
Leisia Tudor, Agriculture Manager at Dunbia, said the project demonstrates the wider value of tackling lameness proactively.
“When you see the impact the Five Point Plan has had, it’s clear this is about more than just treating lame sheep,” she said.
“The farmers who are part of this project are seeing fewer losses, spending less time on treatments, reducing their antibiotic usage, and improving overall efficiency — all of which contribute to a lower carbon footprint.
“This kind of proactive health management is one of the aspects that contributes towards sustainable livestock production, and we’re pleased to be supporting farmers on that journey.”
*Based on three doses of vaccine in the first year (for replacement ewes) and one dose thereafter. Assumes ewe replacement rate of 20% each year.

Small and medium-sized businesses in South-West Wales are set to benefit from a dedicated regional supply chain programme funded by The Crown Estate, aimed at supporting the floating offshore wind supply chain.
The programme was announced on Tuesday during an event hosted by The Crown Estate in the Senedd in Cardiff, where Members joined local authorities, industry partners, community groups and skills organisations to showcase the collaborative working taking place on its projects and activities across Wales.
The Crown Estate’s Chief Executive Dan Labbad attended alongside Senedd Members, where the organisation presented its Wales Review to outline positive impact and future opportunities from its activities across the country.
F4OR 
The regional programme will run for up to 18 months and be delivered by the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s successful Fit For Offshore Renewables programme (F4OR).
F4OR supports the development of an increasingly competent, capable and competitive UK offshore renewable energy supply chain. It is a unique programme which is focused on helping UK supply chain companies gain the tools needed to succeed in the offshore renewable energy sector. 
The Crown Estate will provide ORE Catapult with £100,000 in funding to work with businesses in the Swansea Bay City Region, supporting their growth and entry into the floating offshore wind supply chain.
This financial contribution will be matched by the Swansea Bay City Deal, which is co-funded by the Welsh and UK governments, and launched a previous F4OR scheme in the region.
From the end of July, Expressions of Interest in the new scheme can be submitted by businesses through the ORE Catapult <a href="https://ore.catapult.org.uk/programmes/f4or" target="_blank">website</a> and successful businesses will be judged against a set of relevant criteria, including their commitment to expanding their footprint in the floating offshore wind supply chain and alignment with the ambitions set out in the Celtic Sea Blueprint.
The funding for this scheme is in addition to The Crown Estate’s recently announced proposal to invest up to £400m of capital into the UK’s offshore wind supply chain.
Some of this funding is already being deployed in Wales through its £50m Supply Chain Accelerator, supporting organisations including Neath Port Talbot Group of Colleges, Pembrokeshire College and Marine Power Systems Ltd.

“This important programme will support local companies bidding for work in the floating offshore wind industry. This will help improve the awareness of Welsh firms about what is required to do business in the offshore wind sector.”

“As we see the Celtic Sea becoming an increasingly important location for floating wind development, the opportunity for local innovative companies to tap into the huge economic potential is clear, and this support is specifically designed to help those companies turn potential into reality.” 
This announcement follows the news in June that Equinor and Gwynt Glas – a joint venture between EDF Renewables UK and ESB – had been selected as preferred bidders to take forward two new floating wind farms as part of The Crown Estate’s Offshore Wind Leasing Round 5 in the Celtic Sea.
Launched at the start of 2024, a core focus of Round 5 has been to <a>open up</a> a new region of the UK for the generation of more secure, clean energy, while kick-starting the development of a new industry and supply chain around the Celtic Sea. 
The Crown Estate’s Celtic Sea Blueprint published last year showed that Round 5 could support the creation of 5,300 new jobs and deliver a £1.4bn boost to the UK economy.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[NYC heavy trio CHAKA has dropped their thunderous new single “It’s Not Human”, a primal assault of groove and aggression that marks the first release from their upcoming debut full-length album, “Amplifying the Past”, due out later this year.
Formed as a studio project and now evolved into a live sonic force, CHAKA has deep roots in Queens’ metal and hardcore scene. Founding bassist and vocalist Mark Sokoll, a veteran of bands like Darkside NYC and Terminal Confusion, is joined by longtime friends Mike C. (ex-White Trash) on drums and Frank P. (Lost Cause) on guitar. The band also collaborates remotely with Ireland-based guitarist Ty Canon, a childhood friend whose riffs continue to shape their recordings.
Lyrically, “It’s Not Human” presents a sonic excavation. The song delves into the real-life discovery of a Neanderthal tooth, a pivotal moment in tracing the human genome.
“It’s about evolution, science, and ancient ancestry,” says Sokoll. “We’ve always drawn inspiration from human origins, military history, and authors like Arthur C. Clarke and Carl Sagan.”
Musically, the track is a relentless juggernaut—starting abruptly, rushing forward with thrash intensity, then turning dreamy before returning to a pummeling close.
The single’s artwork visually echoes this evolutionary theme, featuring crossed primitive weapons behind a grotesque DNA helix, flanked by dueling skulls—one ancient, one modern.

Set for release later this year, “Amplifying the Past” represents CHAKA‘s most dynamic and collaborative work to date.

“We’re a loud trio—maybe even louder than four or five-piece bands. We’re all in our 50s, but we don’t hold back.”
Despite geographical distance—band members live in New York, New Jersey, and Ireland—CHAKA thrives on modern file-sharing and old-school chemistry as the trio has known each other for over 40 years. That connection fuels their sound.

After five years of anticipation, Calgary’s stoner groove rock trio Woodhawk announces they will be hitting the road this August through October for tour dates across Canada (dates listed below). The show dates are in support of their latest and third album, “Love Finds a Way,” released on June 6th of this year via Grand Hand Records. Fans can expect a high-energy set packed with new material and favorites from their discography that will be delivered with the raw power and passion.
Their most personal and powerful release to date, their new full-length album, “Love Finds a Way”, marks a turning point for Woodhawk.Demonstrating their evolution from early stoner rock roots into something more emotionally complex while maintaining the infectious grooves and memorable hooks that have defined their sound.
“Love Finds a Way” explores themes of darkness, healing, and hope, while still delivering the infectious hooks and thunderous riffs fans have come to expect. With contributions from longtime collaborator Jesse Gander on synth, the band expands their sonic palette without losing their edge. The trio of Turner Midzain (guitar/vocals), Mike Badmington (bass), and Kevin Nelson (drums) poured five years of growth, struggle, and creative evolution into this record.
“We are over the moon to get this album out. Love Finds a Way is easily the hardest we have worked on an album to date. We poured our heart and soul into this one. It really is a journey of getting out of the darkness and into the light. Check in with your friends and loved ones. Hug the ones you love. Be nicer to each other. Love will always prevail and be stronger than anything else. After 10 years of being a band, I feel like we are still just getting started!” adds the band.
After a decade together, Woodhawk is proving they’re just getting started. “Love Finds a Way” is more than an album; it’s a statement of resilience, connection, and the enduring power of rock.
