Back in 2007, Outsource Support was co-founded by our Managing Director Graham Hughes with the aim of providing a complete range of Facilities Management services (contract cleaning, manned security, office support, ground maintenance, pest control etc) to businesses and workplaces of all kinds across Ireland. Graham continues to lead the business from strength to strength and we remain independent and 100% Irish owned. With our commitment to delivering a quality facility support service, bolstered by committed staff and wonderful clients and partners, we have managed to maintain the highest standards, as well as improve on everything we do.

This year World FM Day theme is ‘leading a sustainable future’. Over the last couple of years, FM providers have had to navigate their own way through the pandemic as well as advising clients and partners in making strategic health and safety, technical transformation and environmental decisions. Pre-pandemic, environmental factors and climate change were high up on many boardroom agendas, but now, as we emerge from the COVID19 crisis, it is perhaps the most pressing matter FMs are facing.
The pandemic had far-reaching impacts on all aspects of society, including on our energy use and resulting CO₂ emissions. Buildings account for approximately 40% of Irelands carbon footprint and their energy use makes up almost half of this. According to SEAI there was an overall reduction of 11.5% in CO₂ emissions in 2020. Emissions from transport fell by 26.5% for the same year and had a significant impact on the overall reduction. Continuing with the remote working and hybrid models, ultimately will have a significant impact on sustaining the decline of emissions.
Sustainability of course goes far beyond just emission reductions and the goal of net zero. It covers other environmental pollution and resource use, as well as promoting health, social and economic conditions, with a view to creating an environment that is able to support us and future generations for years to come.
Facilities Management excels in designing and caring for the finer details of any business. The sector is in a commanding position to lead the built environment to a more sustainable future. FM can realise significant changes from reducing plastic and chemical usage in cleaning, moving to electric vehicles, and effective maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve site efficiency. Advancements in technology means the scope of integrating systems to monitor footfall which can then influence energy output or services on demand, such as cleaning, for example, could realise fundamental savings. Both energy and financial.

<h2>About Fyffes Ireland</h2>
Our client, Fyffes, is one of the world’s oldest and largest importers and distributors of tropical produce. Founded in 1888, Fyffes is an important global player and a well-established name in the food logistics sector. It employs 5,400 permanent employees globally, as well as between 11,000 and 16,500 seasonal workers.

<h2>The challenge</h2>
Fyffes Ireland General Manager Ciarán Sweeney, approached Outsource Support looking for <a href="https://www.outsourcesupport.ie/security-services">security</a> and <a href="https://www.outsourcesupport.ie/cleaning-services/">cleaning services</a> for the company’s brand new 100,000 sq. ft. distribution facility. Security and cleaning are a priority at the distribution facility, where around one hundred employees work, and which houses millions of Euros worth of stock and equipment.
Fyffes representatives had experienced one of the Outsource Support teams working on an existing multinational client’s facility, and felt that we were the right facility service provider for their needs. They needed safe, efficient and professional security and cleaning on their facility, and they needed to be able to outsource this to a service partner they could trust, leaving them free to focus on their core business activities.
<h2>Our solution</h2>
We have considerable experience with the provision of facility service protocols for businesses of all sizes, scales and levels of complexity. We used this experience and expertise to tailor a complete facility solution for the Fyffes facility which includes <a href="https://www.outsourcesupport.ie/security-services">manned guarding, mobile patrols, key holding and alarm response, remote CCTV monitoring, security audit/ risk assessment,</a> <a href="https://www.outsourcesupport.ie/cleaning-services/">daily office cleaning</a> and <a href="https://www.outsourcesupport.ie/cleaning-services/">sanitisation services.</a> Fyffes approached us during the construction phase, so we were able to plan our solutions and ensure that they were “built-in” to the facility and its day-to-day running before it even became operational.

We are delighted to introduce the newest member of the Outsource Support commercial team – Brian Carter, our new strategic business development executive. The new position comes at an exciting time for facility services company Outsource Support. In his role as a business development executive, Brian will build awareness of our tailored <a href="https://www.outsourcesupport.ie/facility-management-soft-services/">soft facility management solutions</a> and elevate the Outsource Support brand across Ireland and regionally within Dublin, Meath and Louth.
Brian holds a Bachelor Degree in Business and joins the company from the <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.scholarshotel.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Scholars Townhouse Hotel</a>, during which time he was responsible for the hotel facilities management and overall customer experience for the past eight years. He brings a wealth of business development experience to the role and in-depth knowledge of the North East business community. Brian’s ability to build strong relationships with customers gathered over his years working across the hospitality sector will complement the extensive portfolio of <a href="https://www.outsourcesupport.ie/clients/">clients</a> already engaged with Outsource Support. Also, his appointment will further strengthen and grow our existing strategic supply partnerships with property and facility management companies across Ireland.
