Apple commissioned a survey which was handled by Morning Consult. 90% of respondents said that they love Apple Pay because of its ease of use; 88% said they love Apple Pay because of the privacy of the service, and 87% said the security of Apple Pay is why they love the mobile payment service.

 44.
“When we started our journey with Apple Pay 10 years ago, we saw a unique opportunity to leverage Apple’s hardware and software to make a meaningful impact on the financial health and lives of our customers. From the outset, we envisioned a world where you could use your iPhone to seamlessly pay for everything — from groceries to train tickets, in person and online, across the globe — all while keeping your personal and financial information safe and private.”-Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet

 46.
Apple is looking to expand the use of Apple Pay by giving users the option to redeem rewards and access installment loans right at checkout via Apple Pay online, or on the iPhone and iPad in-app. Consumers get to pay using the Apple Pay experience they know and love; lenders get to stay connected with their customers allowing them to make reward programs and installment offerings more accessible to many.

 54.
For example, when checking out online using Apple Pay, or in-app on the iPhone and iPad, users in the U.S. receive installment loan options from Affirm and in the U.K. from Monzo Flex. Starting yesterday, eligible users in the U.S. and U.K. can also receive flexible payment options at checkout online and in-app with Apple Pay on iPhone and iPad. Apple says that starting with iOS 18, U.S. Apple Pay users can redeem rewards with eligible Discover credit cards when they check out with Apple Pay online and in-app on iPhone and iPad.

 55.
With Apple Pay, user’s personal and financial information is protected and the number of the credit card used with Apple Pay is never shared with businesses. The tech giant continues its plan to get users to replace their physical wallets with the Apple Wallet app. Today, iPhone users can add certain event tickets, transit cards, government IDs, and more to their digital wallet.

 56.
Apple Pay is truly a volume business as Apple receives only .15% of the value of each transaction paid for using Apple Pay. That means that if Apple Pay is used on a $100 transaction, the banks involved pay Apple 15 cents. It is estimated that Apple generated up to $4 billion in revenue in calendar year 2023 from Apple Pay (15 cents at a time).

 77.
A couple of alleged leaked images of the OnePlus 13 have surfaced online, giving us what could be a glimpse of the upcoming flagship phone’s design. The images, shared by reliable leaker OnLeaks, show a phone that looks similar to the OnePlus 12 from the back. However, there are some notable changes.Unclear on whether it is a photo or a render, the first image, shown below, appears to be of a metallic black version of the device. The camera array looks slightly different, with the flash integrated into one of the lenses and the Hasselblad logo moved to the right. The back of the phone also appears to have a more silvery finish than the OnePlus 12‘s glass back.

 78.

 79.
In addition, a second image was shared that is allegedly the OnePlus 13, in a lighter colorway, face down on a table while a person holds what appears to be a blue OPPO Find X8. The Oppo Find X8 is another upcoming flagship phone that is expected to launch soon.

 80.
It is unclear from the images what the front of the phone will look like or what the internal specifications will be. However, the leaked images suggest that OnePlus is making some changes to the design of its next flagship phone. These images appear to be making the rounds over Chinese social media.

 82.
About OnePlus 13

 83.
The OnePlus 13 is expected to launch in China before the end of October 2024, with a global release likely following in early 2025. Regions typically included in OnePlus global launches are North America, Europe, and India. However, specific regional availability may vary. Here’s a quick rundown of the rumored specs:

 84.

 85.
Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite

 86.
Display: 6.8-inch AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate

 87.
RAM: 12GB

 88.
Storage: 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB

 89.
Cameras: 50MP triple camera array / 32MP selfie camera

 90.
Battery: 5,400 mAh

 91.

 92.

 93.

 94.
The OnePlus 13 is shaping up to be a strong contender in the flagship smartphone arena. The rumored specs suggest a device that excels in performance, photography, and battery life. I’m particularly interested in the potential of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and how it will handle demanding tasks and gaming. Recent leaks have suggested that the price point for OnePlus devices will be going up. However, if OnePlus can deliver on these specs while maintaining a competitive price point, the OnePlus 13 could still be a very attractive option for those seeking an affordable — yet top-tier, Android experience.

 116. The Blackmagic Camera 1.4 update is now available for Android, bringing support for Sony Xperia and Oppo devices, along with Bluetooth microphone connectivity. Since its launch earlier this year, the third-party camera app has seen numerous helpful updates.

 117.
The Blackmagic Camera 1.4 update was announced by the official Blackmagic account on Threads. It expands the app’s compatibility to more Android phones, including Sony Xperia 1, 5, and Pro-I devices, and “compatible Oppo devices.” While Blackmagic doesn’t specify which Oppo phones are supported, it’s likely that most recent flagship models will be able to use the app.

 118.

 119.
One of the major changes in Blackmagic Camera 1.4 is the ability to use paired Bluetooth microphones as audio sources within the app. This feature was previously limited to wired audio systems. Now, users have the option to use other audio sources, including lavalier mics and potentially even in-ear earbuds. To complement this, audio monitoring is also available while recording.

 120.
Another significant change is the addition of support for Tentacle Sync when using timecode sync. This Bluetooth tool synchronizes the in-camera audio with external audio recorders, which can be particularly useful for professional shoots.

 121.
The update also includes the ability to set the recording bitrate when using H.264 and H.265 codecs. This feature allows users to adjust the bitrate for better quality footage or to save space, which is particularly useful for those recording to external devices like SD cards and SSDs.

 122.
Here’s a summary of the new features in Blackmagic Camera 1.4 that are rolling out now via the Google Play Store.

 123.

 124.
Audio monitoring while recording

 125.
Support for Bluetooth microphones

 126.
Support for Tentacle Sync for recording timecode sync

 127.
Recording bitrate options for H.264 and H.265 codecs

 128.
Support for compatible Oppo devices

 129.
Support for Sony Xperia series 1, 5 and Pro-I devices

 130.
General performance and stability improvements

 131.

 132.
The Blackmagic Camera 1.4 update with its added support for Sony Xperia and Oppo devices, along with Bluetooth microphone connectivity, makes the app even more versatile. The ability to adjust the recording bitrate is also a welcome addition, as it gives users more control over the quality and size of their video files. While the Tentacle Sync support may not be relevant to all users, it’s a valuable feature for professionals. Overall, this update makes the Blackmagic Camera app a more compelling option for Android users looking for a powerful and versatile video camera app.

 153.
The deca-core Exynos 2500 was recently put through a Geekbench benchmark test which revealed the configuration of the application processor (AP). There will be three prime cores in the Exynos 2500 in the form of Arm’s new Cortex-X925 CPU core. These cores will run as fast as 2.59GHz and are the most powerful CPU core currently offered by Arm. The chip will also include five of Arm’s new Cortex-A725 power-efficiency CPU cores running with a clock speed of up to 2.25GHz. Lastly, there will be two Arm Cortex-A520 efficiency CPU cores running as fast as 1.75GHz.

 154.
The GPU on the Exynos 2500, the AMD Radeon-based Xclipse 950 GPU, will have an upgrade that adds two additional cores to the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) running at a clock speed of 1.30GHz. The AP is being built by Samsung Foundry using its 3nm process node which could be a problem. Not too long ago it was reported that the foundry’s yield on its 3nm production was down to the 10% to 20% range which means that too many chips are coming through the manufacturing process defective.

 155.
The low yield could lead Samsung to turn to another chip for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ in markets outside of the U.S., China, and Canada. In the latter three countries, we expect Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset to power all three phones in the Galaxy S25 series. Everywhere else you should expect to see the Exynos 2500 AP or MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 AP running the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+. No matter where you are in the world, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.

 162.

 163.
While this sounds like the Exynos 2500 will sport a powerful CPU, keep in mind that the benchmark test was conducted on an Exynos Reference Design (ERD). This is a test platform used by Samsung to test the performance of a chip while it is still in the process of being developed. The ERD is not a mobile phone and the benchmark test doesn’t necessarily indicate that the Exynos 2500 AP will be used on any of the Galaxy S25 series models.

 164.
All this tells us is that Samsung is developing the chipset and that the configuration of the CPU indicates that the Exynos 2500 SoC has the potential to show outstanding performance.

 229.
Design and Display Quality

 230.
Big versus bigger

 231.

 232.
There’s no two ways around it: the main difference between the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus is the size and size alone.

 233.
With the Tab S10 Ultra, you’re greeted with a large, 14.6-inch screen, which pushes the dimensions to 326.4 x 208.6 x 5.4 mm. Meanwhile, the “smaller” Galaxy Tab S10 Plus has a 12.4-inch screen that pushes its dimensions to 285.4 x 185.4 x 5.6 mm. Weight-wise, the Ultra tips the scales at 718gr, while the Plus is much more manageable at 571gr.

 234.
Overall, what you see is what you get. We wouldn’t call either particularly ergonomic to use because of the massive size of either, but if we have to play this game, then of course the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus feels more manageable.

 235.
The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra also has a pretty large notch at its front, used to house the dual front-facing cameras. It’s not an eye-sore by any means, but we can’t lie––we’d have loved the tablet even more without it. The Galaxy S10 Plus, on the other hand, has no such a contraption, which makes for a slightly cleaner design.

 236.
Both tablets have super-thin Armor Aluminum bodies with water and dust resistance.

 237.
There’s IP68 water and dust resistance, as well as an S Pen stylus in the box of either device.

 238.
Performance and Software

 239.
Goodbye for now Qualcomm

 240.
With the Galaxy Tab S10 family, we get some important changes in the performance section.

 241.
Previously, Qualcomm used to supply the chipsets for Samsung’s top tablets. Well, this changes with the new Galaxy Tab S10 generation, which features a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chip on deck.

 242.
It’s a 4nm chip, which delivers some decent performance gains over the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip in the Galaxy Tab S9 generation. Samsung cites an 18% CPU performance increase and a 36% better graphics performance, which sounds pretty good.

 243.
Samsung likely made that change for cost-cutting reasons. That’s fine. Remains to be seen how thermals are handled, though.

 244.
Well, that seems to be the only major difference here. The memory and storage configurations haven’t changed from the previous generation, but we don’t feel Samsung is lacking here. The Galaxy Tab S10 Plus comes with 256GB and 512GB, both with 12GB of RAM, while the Ultra adds a 1TB version to the mix. Both tablets have microSD cards, which is great.

 245.

 246.
One UI 7 with Android 15 will hit the two tablets in early 2025. The Galaxy S25 series will be first with Samsung’s upcoming software update, but we can’t imagine the company’s newest flagship tablets having to wait in queue for a long time.

 247.
AI is another characteristic feature of the two. Aside from the standard Galaxy AI features (summarizing of websites, notes, and voice recordings, Circle to Search, Chat Assist, translation, and the generative image editing features for deleting or re-adjusting objects in photos), the two new tablets get a couple of new features.

 248.
Sketch to Image allows you to draw anything and have Galaxy AI draw an interpretation. Samsung Notes can also do calculations for you, like the iPhones and iPads with iOS 18.

 249.
Camera

 250.
How many is too many

 251.
The rear cameras of the two tablets are identical. Both have 13MP main and 8MP ultrawide cameras, which should be decent enough for regular tablet photography.

 252.
There are more differences at the front.

 253.
The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra comes with dual 12MP cameras, a wide and an ultrawide, while the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus has a single 12MP main camera, which are helpful during video calls and the occasional selfie video is required. That said, we can’t imagine taking a photo or a video with this large tablet to be comfortable.

 254.
Battery Life and Charging

 255.
Big steppers

 256.

 257.
The battery capacity difference between the two tablets isn’t that big.

 258.
Their different sizes would suggest that the Ultra features a much larger battery, but that’s not true. There’s an 11,200mAh battery inside that one, and don’t get us wrong, that’s a lot; however, the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus features a 10,090mAh, which is less, but at the same time, more than enough in comparison.

 259.
Both tablets feature 45W charging, which should top them up in around two hours.

 347. Google Wallet has slowly grown into one of the biggest mobile payment services in the world. In fact, Google Wallet is no longer limited to just making contactless payments with your phone; the app now allows users to store and manage their travel passes, payment and loyalty cards, concert tickets, and more.Still, the main use of Google Wallet remains contactless payments, which is why it’s important for the service to support as many banks and financial institutions as possible.

 348.
Over the years, Google Wallet has added dozens upon dozens of names on the list of supported banks, and it continues to do so. The latest batch of US banks to be added to this list contains 17 names (via AndroidPolice).

 368.
We’re pretty sure that Google will not stop here, so even if the name of your favorite US bank or financial institution isn’t yet on the list, there’s a high chance that it will be added sooner rather than later. For the unaware, Google Wallet is only available on Android devices (Wear OS too), so if you’re running an iPhone as your daily driver, you’re stuck with Apple Pay, which is just as big as Google Wallet (at least in the United States).

 388. I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about attending live music performances is the element of surprise. Besides the music itself, there’s an art to how artists choose the order of their songs. Now, Apple Music is recognizing that.

 389.
Apple Music is turning setlists into playlists

 390.
A new feature allows artists to create playlists featuring the songs they performed at their recent shows. This should make it a breeze for you to relive the concert you just attended and jog your memory with some good (fingers crossed) vibes. Plus, you can check out all the tracks an artist plans to perform before catching them on tour. Now, while this feature is aimed at artists, I think it also brings some perks for us regular users. For example, when artists put together a setlist and share it on social media to announce their upcoming tours or concerts, it makes staying in the loop a whole lot easier. Plus, it’s a great way to reconnect with someone you experienced the live show with.

 403.
Set a publish date for the playlist, ensuring it’s at least one day in the future. The playlist will be published based on your local time. Click Continue when ready.

 427. Google has confirmed that the Night Sight feature for Instagram introduced in the latest Pixel Drop will also come to the company’s mid-range series, the Pixel A series. Previously, the Mountain View tech giant said that the feature wouldn’t come to the Pixel 6a, 7a, or 8a.

 428.
The October 2024 Pixel Drop was one huge update bringing tons of useful features to Google Pixel phones. Understandably, some of the more fancier features such as Underwater Photography and Video, Audio Magic Erasor, and Object Temperature Sensor were limited to newer models, probably because of hardware limitations.

 429.
Google also said that it won’t introduce the Night Sight for Instagram on Pixel A series devices, but this seems to have not been accurate.

 437.
Night Sight for Instagram is a new feature for Pixel users that helps you capture high-quality images in low-light scenarios directly from the Instagram app. At first, the feature was said to come to Pixel 6 and newer, but without the mid-range A series models. However, the company has now confirmed to Android Authority’s Mishaal Rahman that it will come. The availability chart for the feature on its Pixel support forum has also been updated to reflect the change. Now, the Pixel Tablet remains the only device from Google’s lineup of Pixels that won’t receive the Night Sight for Instagram feature.

 438.
The new Pixel Drop features will be rolling out gradually to users globally. The rollout is expected to happen over the next week in phases, and it would depend also on your carrier and device model on when you’re going to get it.

 439.
I think that offering this feature on the Pixel A series of phones is great, and I’m quite happy that Google has changed its decision and will offer it. The Night Sight for Instagram feature doesn’t seem to need very sophisticated hardware.

 440.
Of course, I wouldn’t expect results like on the latest Pixel 9 on a Pixel A phone. However, even the Pixel A series of phones should be able to give you good-enough-looking photos for an Instagram story.

 482.
“We’re excited to offer all businesses — including those without a physical location — the ability to create a brand that appears across the Apple apps that over a billion people use every day. Personally, I’ve never been upset or felt frustrated after buying a new Android phone and finding bloatware on the device. Putting third-party apps on new Android handsets allows carriers like T-Mobile to offer consumers better deals on new devices. I agree that if having your phone come out of the box loaded with bloatware upsets you to the point that you are “livid,” buy your next Android phone unlocked and not through a carrier. Or, buy an iPhone or a Pixel.
