58.
Benefits of Cat Water Fountains

 59.
 60.
 61.
 62.
Cat water fountains are becoming increasingly popular among cat owners. These fountains offer numerous benefits to cats, making them a great investment for any cat owner. Here are some of the benefits of cat water fountains:

 63.
 64.
 65.
 66.
Encouraging Hydration

 67.
 68.
 69.
 70.
Cats are notorious for not drinking enough water, which can lead to health problems such as urinary tract infections and kidney disease. However, with a cat water fountain, cats are more likely to drink water since the water is constantly moving and fresh. This can help prevent health problems and keep cats hydrated.

 71.
 72.
 73.
 74.
Filtration and Cleanliness

 75.
 76.
 77.
 78.
Cat water fountains come with filters that help remove impurities from the water, such as hair and dirt. This ensures that the water is clean and safe for cats to drink. Additionally, the fountain’s design prevents water from becoming stagnant, which can lead to the growth of bacteria and other harmful substances.

 79.
 80.
 81.
 82.
Continuous Fresh Water Supply

 83.
 84.
 85.
 86.
With a cat water fountain, cats always have access to fresh water. This is especially important for cats that are left alone for long periods or for cats that prefer running water. The continuous supply of fresh water ensures that cats are always hydrated, healthy, and happy.

 87.
 88.
 89.
 90.
In summary, cat water fountains offer numerous benefits to cats, including encouraging hydration, filtration, and cleanliness, and a continuous fresh water supply. Cat owners who invest in a cat water fountain can ensure that their cats stay healthy and hydrated, while also providing them with a fun and interactive way to drink water.

 94.
Types of Cat Water Fountains

 95.
 96.
 97.
 98.
When it comes to selecting a cat water fountain, there are various types available in the market. Here are the most common types of cat water fountains:

 99.
 100.
 101.
 102.
Plastic Fountains

 103.
 104.
 105.
 106.
Plastic fountains are the most commonly available and affordable option. They are lightweight and easy to clean. However, they may not be as durable as other materials and may be more prone to scratches and cracks. Uahpet Cat Water Fountain is one of the best plastic fountains available in the market.

 107.
 108.
 109.
 110.
Ceramic Fountains

 111.
 112.
 113.
 114.
Ceramic fountains are a popular choice among cat owners due to their durability and aesthetic appeal. They are heavy and sturdy, making them less prone to tipping over. Ceramic fountains also tend to be more hygienic and easier to clean than plastic fountains.

 115.
 116.
 117.
 118.
Stainless Steel Fountains

 119.
 120.
 121.
 122.
Stainless steel fountains are the most durable and long-lasting option. They are resistant to scratches, cracks, and bacteria growth. They are also the easiest to clean and maintain. The Uahpet Stainless Steel Fountain is one of the best stainless steel fountains available in the market.

 123.
 124.
 125.
 126.
Overall, the type of cat water fountain that one chooses depends on their preferences, budget, and cat’s needs. It is recommended to choose a fountain that is easy to clean, durable, and provides a continuous flow of fresh and clean water for your feline friend.

 129.

 130.

 131.
 132.
 133.
Selecting the Right Fountain

 134.
 135.
 136.
 137.
When it comes to selecting the right water fountain for your cat, there are a few factors to consider. Here are some important factors to keep in mind:

 138.
 139.
 140.
 141.
Capacity and Size

 142.
 143.
 144.
 145.
The capacity and size of the fountain are important factors to consider when selecting a fountain. It is important to choose a fountain with a capacity that is appropriate for your cat’s needs. If you have multiple cats, you may need to choose a larger fountain to accommodate all of them. Additionally, the fountain size should be appropriate for the space where it will be placed.

 146.
 147.
 148.
 149.
Noise Level

 150.
 151.
 152.
 153.
The noise level of the fountain is another important factor to consider. Some fountains can be quite loud, which can be disturbing for both you and your cat. If your cat is easily frightened or easily disturbed by noise, it is important to choose a fountain that is quiet and produces minimal noise.

 154.
 155.
 156.
 157.
Ease of Cleaning

 158.
 159.
 160.
 161.
The ease of cleaning is an important factor to consider when selecting a fountain. It is important to choose a fountain that is easy to clean and maintain. Some fountains have parts that are dishwasher safe, which can make cleaning much easier. Additionally, it is important to choose a fountain that is easy to disassemble and reassemble for cleaning purposes.

 162.
 163.
 164.
 165.
Replacement Filters

 166.
 167.
 168.
 169.
Finally, it is important to consider the availability and cost of replacement filters when selecting a fountain. Many fountains require replacement filters to ensure that the water remains clean and fresh. It is important to choose a fountain with replacement filters that are readily available and affordable.

 170.
 171.
 172.
 173.
By considering these factors, you can select a water fountain that is appropriate for your cat’s needs and preferences.

 174.
 175.
 176.
 177.
Maintenance and Cleaning

 178.
 179.
 180.
 181.
Maintaining and cleaning a cat water fountain is crucial to ensure that your cat has access to clean and fresh water at all times. This section will cover the essential steps for maintaining and cleaning your cat’s water fountain.

 182.
 183.
 184.
 185.
Regular Cleaning Schedule

 186.
 187.
 188.
 189.
It is recommended to clean your cat water fountain at least once a week. The cleaning process involves disassembling the fountain, washing all the parts with warm water and mild soap, and rinsing them thoroughly. It is important to pay special attention to the nooks and crannies where bacteria can accumulate.

 190.
 191.
 192.
 193.
To clean the fountain, you can use a soft brush or sponge to scrub away any residue or build-up. You can also use a solution of white vinegar and water to clean the fountain. However, rinse the fountain thoroughly after using vinegar to avoid any residual taste.

 194.
 195.
 196.
 197.
Replacing Filters

 198.
 199.
 200.
 201.
The filter in your cat water fountain plays a crucial role in removing impurities and keeping the water clean. It is recommended to replace the filter every 2-4 weeks, depending on the frequency of use and the number of cats using the fountain.

 202.
 203.
 204.
 205.
To replace the filter, you need to disassemble the fountain and remove the old filter. Then, insert the new filter and reassemble the fountain. Make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for replacing the filter.

 206.
 207.
 208.
 209.
Troubleshooting Common Issues

 210.
 211.
 212.
 213.
If your cat water fountain is not working properly, there may be some common issues that you can troubleshoot. For example, if the water flow is slow or the fountain is making noise, you can try cleaning the pump or adjusting the flow rate.

 214.
 215.
 216.
 217.
If the fountain is still not working properly, you may need to contact the manufacturer for further assistance. It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for troubleshooting and maintenance to ensure the longevity of the fountain.

 218.
 219.
 220.
 221.
In summary, maintaining and cleaning your cat’s water fountain is essential to ensure that your cat has access to clean and fresh water at all times. Follow the recommended cleaning schedule, replace the filters regularly, and troubleshoot common issues to keep your cat water fountain in optimal condition.

 239.

 240.
More and more pet parents are looking for additional ways to support their dogs’ health that extend beyond giving them an optimal diet and life filled with plenty of exercise. And supplements like salmon oil and CBD oil are some of the first places they look to.

 241.
 242.
 243.
 244.

 245.
 246.
 247.
 248.
It’s not surprising either, as many have found both supplements to be literally life savers, whether they are helping to reduce inflammation, pain, anxiety, and other ailments many dogs struggle with daily.

 249.
 250.
 251.
 252.
So let’s look at how both oils can benefit your dog and the best ways to incorporate them into your dog’s routine.

 253.
 254.
 255.
 256.
What is Salmon Oil?

 257.
 258.
 259.
 260.
Giving your dog salmon oil is a fantastic way to supplement extra omega-3 fatty acids into its diet. Omega-3 fatty acids can have a world of benefits for our dogs. They help support a healthy immune system, promote shiner coats and healthier skin, while also protecting cognitive function and cardiovascular health.

 261.
 262.
 263.
 264.
Science Behind Salmon Oil

 265.
 266.
 267.
 268.
The omega-3 essential fatty acids that fish oils like salmon oil contain are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), two long-chain fatty acids that are composed of 20+ carbon atoms. While they have their own benefits, omega-6 fatty acids are considered pro-inflammatory. However, when in the right balance with omega-3s, they work together in harmony, as omega-3s are anti-inflammatories.

 269.
 270.
 271.
 272.
“Right balance” is the key term here as omega-6s are predominantly found in meats such as beef and chicken, seeds, and oils. While our dogs’ food may have a balanced ratio between the omega fatty acids, the table scraps and treats we tend to overfeed are high in omega-6, throwing off that perfect balance. As you can guess, this is one of the big reasons we supplement fish oil for our health.

 273.
 274.
 275.
 276.

 277.
 278.
 279.
 280.
There are so many supplements we can take and give our dogs, but most of them haven’t received the research they need to prove their touted benefits. The same cannot be said about salmon oil and other fish oils that deliver omega-3 fatty acids.

 281.
 282.
 283.
 284.
So, let’s find out the best way to incorporate salmon oil into our dogs’ diet! But before, we need to talk about the side effects you should expect.

 285.
 286.
 287.
 288.
Side Effects of Salmon Oil

 289.
 290.
 291.
 292.
Salmon oil, like other fish oils, is touted for its low occurrence of side effects. Easily the most common side effect is fishy breath and burps, followed by minor digestive stress. These are pretty easy to avoid/limit by administering your dog’s salmon oil to them when they consume their regular food.

 293.
 294.
 295.
 296.
How To Incorporate Salmon Oil In Your Dog’s Routine

 297.
 298.
 299.
 300.
Salmon oil most commonly comes in gel capsules or liquid versions. The liquid version is great for dogs as most love the flavor and it’s very easy to incorporate into their regular food. Make sure to follow the product label for dosing, as weight plays the biggest role in determining how much you should give your dog.

 301.
 302.
 303.
 304.
What is CBD Oil?

 305.
 306.
 307.
 308.
Derived from the hemp variety of the cannabis plant, CBD oil is a non-intoxicating alternative to medical marijuana, making it safe for both kids and pets to consume.

 309.
 310.
 311.
 312.
Chemically hemp plants are identical to marijuana plants, however, due to various reasons, these plants only produce traces of THC, a chemical that marijuana is abundant in. And that abundance is the sole reason marijuana causes a high, while hemp plants can’t.

 313.
 314.
 315.
 316.
As you may suspect, CBD products share many therapeutic benefits we associate with marijuana. Now, they aren’t as prominent due to lacking notable amounts of THC, but again, this makes them safe to use anytime during the day without worrying it’s going to affect motor control or cognition. It also significantly reduces the side effects commonly seen with marijuana items.

 317.
 318.
 319.
 320.
Science Behind CBD Oil

 321.
 322.
 323.
 324.
So what are all those benefits that CBD can have? Well, thanks to CBD’s ability to interact with a special regulatory system that helps balance other regulatory systems when they are stressed, CBD can help with a seemingly endless list of diseases and medical conditions.

 325.
 326.
 327.
 328.
The most common reasons people take and give CBD include help with anxiety, pain (especially chronic pain), nausea, digestion stress, epilepsy, and to support general health.

 329.
 330.
 331.
 332.
Side Effects of CBD Oil

 333.
 334.
 335.
 336.
Like salmon oil, which delivers an abundance of omega fatty acids, CBD oil is touted for its fairly safe side effect profile. Like salmon oil, CBD oil can cause minor stomach discomfort, but administering it with food can help. If stomach discomfort is a regular occurrence or it’s seen with another side effect, such as drowsiness, the most common recommendation is to simply lower the dosage.

 337.
 338.
 339.
 340.
If your dog is on a prescription medication prescribed by their vet, please consult them before giving your dog CBD oil due to concerns it may interact with the drug.

 341.
 342.
 343.
 344.
How To Incorporate CBD Oil In Your Dog’s Routine

 345.
 346.
 347.
 348.
Like salmon oil, mealtime is a great time to give your dog CBD. Unlike fish oil, CBD can be administered multiple times in a day. However, I recommend only giving CBD during mealtime for the first few weeks to help keep side effects, such as digestive stress, at bay.

 349.
 350.
 351.
 352.
You can experiment with giving CBD with and without food to see what works best for your dog. CBD is fat soluble, meaning it requires the presence of fat for the body to properly absorb it. Giving CBD with food can promote greater absorption.

 353.
 354.
 355.
 356.
However, some may find they need to increase the dosage due to the food ‘stealing’ some of that CBD away from the body. As well, CBD oils already come with a fatty carrier oil to help with its fat-soluble nature.

 357.
 358.
 359.
 360.
Final Thoughts

 361.
 362.
 363.
 364.
In a sea of endless supplements, it can be challenging to figure out which supplements are beneficial and which ones just drain your wallet.

 365.
 366.
 367.
 368.

 369.
 370.
 371.
 372.
More often than not, there just isn’t the research available for most supplements, but that can’t be said about salmon oil and CBD oil.

 373.
 374.
 375.
 376.
When looking to incorporate salmon oil and CBD oil into your dog’s routine, most pet parents find administering them around food works best.

 377.
 378.
 379.
 380.
Because the most popular forms of both are oil-based and work well when mixed into their regular food, many dog owners are making the switch to giving their dogs homemade meals that incorporate both supplements either during the prep or the cooking stage.

 381.
 382.
 383.
 384.
Thanks to dog food-making machines such as Chef Paw food maker, it has never been easier to make your dog’s food for them right in your kitchen. And you don’t need to have a degree in pet nutrition anymore either.

 403.
Today, I’m bringing you 10 CBD-based items for pets that can help elevate your pet’s health.

 404.
 405.
 406.
 407.
CBD is all the rage, but with the products appearing in so many shapes, pet parents can quickly feel swamped when trying to figure out which one is best for their pet. That’s why I’ll discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each CBD item, while also exploring which one might be best suited for your pet. .

 408.
 409.
 410.
 411.
Best CBD Products for Dogs, Cats, and Other Pets?

 412.
 413.
 414.
 415.
Thanks to the endocannabinoid system (ECS), a regulatory system found in all animals except insects, the majority of our pets can enjoy the many benefits CBD has to offer.

 416.
 417.
 418.
 419.
Just like our pets, CBD items come in many shapes. But in general, you only want to purchase a CBD item that is full spectrum, has been independently lab tested, derived from organically grown hemp, and created by utilizing a CO2 extraction process. This helps ensure you’re getting the best of the best regardless of the CBD item you choose.

 420.
 421.
 422.
 423.
1. CBD Oil

 424.
 425.
 426.
 427.
Let’s start our list with the most popular CBD item. A CBD oil or tincture is an excellent option for most pet owners. It allows you to easily customize dosage in small increments not available by non-tincture CBDs. It’s easy to give, allowing you to administer directly or hide it in your pet’s food. You can also make many of the CBD items you’re about to see at home, such as CBD treats, with CBD oil.

 428.
 429.
 430.
 431.

 432.
CBD Oil for Dogs – CBD for EPts – Hemp for Pets 2023 – Innovetpet CBD OIL – Horse CBD Oil

 434.
 435.
 436.
 437.
2. CBD With Catnip

 438.
 439.
 440.
 441.
If you love the perks of CBD oil, but find your cat isn’t a big fan of the flavor, you’re not out of luck thanks to CBD oil infused with catnip. While dogs don’t usually have a problem with hemp’s grassy and nutty flavor — in fact, most love it — our cats aren’t always the same. Catnip’s aroma and flavor are perfect for picky eaters, or as we like to say, perfect for cats with a refined palette.

 442.
 443.
 444.
 445.
As well, catnip can highlight the anti-anxiety benefits of CBD. I know that might be surprising to hear, but catnip has biphasic effects. Catnip is only excitable for a short duration (typically less than 10 minutes). Afterward, it quickly starts promoting calm, especially when consumed vs. smelled.

 446.
 447.
 448.
 449.
3. CBD Treats

 450.
 451.
 452.
 453.
When precision dosages aren’t needed, and in most cases, they aren’t, CBD treats are a wonderful snack to give. Great for when you’re out on the town with your dog and their anxiety starts sneaking up. But to be honest, CBD treats are just a great way to spoil your pet with a scrumptious treat that also cares for their health.

 454.
 455.
 456.
 457.
4. CBD Soft Chews

 458.
 459.
 460.
 461.
Similar to CBD treats but with a soft and easy-to-chew texture, CBD soft chews are excellent for smaller pets and older pets whose dental health needs a little extra TLC. Besides their soft texture, there really isn’t much of a difference between CBD soft chews and CBD treats.

 462.
 463.
 464.
 465.
5. CBD Capsules

 466.
 467.
 468.
 469.
If your pet isn’t fussy about taking pills, CBD capsules are a great alternative to tinctures and treats. No crumbs and no spilled oil; no fuss and no mess! What’s not to love? CBD capsules are the same thing as a CBD tincture, just bundled up in a nice package for convenience.

 470.
 471.
 472.
 473.
6. CBD Topicals

 474.
 475.
 476.
 477.
Unlike the majority of the other CBD-based items on our list, CBD topicals are applied to the surface of the skin and not consumed. This makes them an excellent option for pets with skin issues. As well, they are great at harnessing all of CBD’s power into a localized area, making them great for surface-level pain and sore joints.

 478.
 479.
 480.
 481.
7. CBD Multivitamins

 482.
 483.
 484.
 485.
Many pet parents are giving their pets CBD daily to support their overall health and wellness, so it makes complete sense why we’re seeing more and more multivitamins including it as a staple ingredient.

 486.
 487.
 488.
 489.
Giving your pet a multivitamin, whether it has CBD or not, is a great way to support the foundation of their health, especially if their food isn’t fully doing so.

 490.
 491.
 492.
 493.
8. CBD Probiotics

 494.
 495.
 496.
 497.
CBD can help with a long list of health problems, but without a doubt, its ability to support digestive health is a big reason so many pet owners are giving their dogs, cats, and even horses, CBD. And this makes it a great addition in probiotic aids.

 498.
 499.
 500.
 501.
I don’t know about you, but my dog could certainly do with some extra digestive support. But the benefits of probiotics don’t end there — no pun intended! Probiotics can support dental/oral health and help ease anxiety and other mood disorders. With CBD also helping with those issues, CBD probiotics are a powerhouse of support.

 502.
 503.
 504.
 505.
9. CBD Pet Joint Support Supplements

 506.
 507.
 508.
 509.
Thanks to CBD’s ability to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain, it’s no surprise it’s becoming common to see it included in joint support supplements. Typically, a combination of glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, and essential omega fatty acids, CBD is a logical ingredient to include in joint support supplements.

 510.
 511.
 512.
 513.
CBD can support a pet’s joint health by alleviating excessive inflammation and swelling that can cause debilitating pain and prevent recovery of the joint.

 514.
 515.
 516.
 517.
10. CBD Pet Shampoo

 518.
 519.
 520.
 521.
The cannabinoid receptors that make up the ECS are found in many parts of the body, from the brain to the immune system, and they are also found in hair follicles. This gives CBD items the ability to work their magic on your pet’s skin and coat.

 522.
 523.
 524.
 525.

 526.
 527.
 528.
 529.
Even if you decide to choose a different CBD product for your pet, a shampoo formulated for your dog or cat is still highly recommended due to the sensitive nature of their skin and coat. Our skin is significantly more acidic than that of our dogs and cats.

 530.
 531.
 532.
 533.
Additionally, their skin’s epidermis only has about half as many layers as ours. This is why using a shampoo designed for us on your pet can cause their skin to break out or hair to become coarse.

 555.
What are hypoallergenic dogs?

 556.
Hypoallergenic dogs are excellent for those who suffers from hypersensitivity reactions. It is because of their shedding manner. This way it is very unusual for them to bring an allergy to their owners. But, did you know that hypoallergenic dogs don’t exist? Primarily because a Pit’s saliva and skin can potentiate an allergic event in sensitive individuals.

 557.
Must Read: How to train a pitbull puppy not to bite

 558.
The best advice for all those dog lovers out there who suffer from pet allergies is to consult their doctors advice before choosing and getting a pet. Hypoallergenic Pitbulls have lots of strains as your pet selection. Unfortunately, mixed breeds generally dominate canine shelters nowadays, so there is somehow difficult to identify if those pooch are hypoallergenic.

 559.
Moreover, no single canine is free to produce a hypersensitivity reaction. But, a variety of dog strains work better with hypersensitive individuals. There can be easily identifiable like having a non-shedding coat which is usually danderless. It is said that dander, which is commonly seen on pet hair, is the primary cause of pet allergies in humans.

 560.
It is widely believed that hypoallergenic dogs have a lesser potential to arouse an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals. In a study, an estimated value of 20 up to 30% of individuals that suffer from asthma are also believed to suffer from hypersensitivity to pets. Do not adopt a pet at home if a family member has hypersensitivity to pets. This may also ruin your health. However, there are a few dog strains that are unusual to produce a hypersensitivity reaction. It’s a bright idea to familiarize yourself with these so-called hypoallergenic strains. Is Pitbulls one of those who are free to produce hypersensitivity?

 561.
What are the hypoallergenic dog breeds?

 601.
Are Pitbulls Hypoallergenic?

 602.

 603.
As we say, there’s no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog breed. So Are Pit Bulls hypoallergenic? However, there are some individual dogs that may potentiate fewer allergy symptoms than others. Many people think that pet allergies are due to their Pitbull’s fur. But keep in mind that the real source of pet allergies come from a protein that’s in the saliva and urine of your pooch. This protein is said to sticks to the dander from your canine’s skin.

 604.
Moreover, there are some dog breeds that are considered as hypoallergenic. The reason for this is that they shed minimally or sometimes don’t. These dogs don’t actually trim their fur, that’s why the flakes that usually produces allergy stays to their fur and doesn’t falls down onto the floor like with that of a dog that regularly shed. But while you may have less dog hair with a non shedding dog, the fact is there still no dog strain that is free to produce allergy.<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display: block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-5643258437358551" data-ad-slot="7474597621" data-ad-format="link" data-full-width-responsive="true"></ins>

 605.

 606.
What are the Causes?

 607.

 608.
Allergies normally arise when the immune system reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen, dust or pet hair.

 609.
The immune system produces antibodies. These antibodies protect you from unknown substances that commonly make you get sickness or cause an infection. Having allergies, the immune system makes antibodies that identify the specific allergen as it may cause harm.

 610.
Being in contact with the allergen makes the immune system creates inflammation of the nasal passages or lung airways. Overexposure to these foreign substance may create inflammation of the airway that is commonly related to asthma.

 611.
Allergens coming from Pitbulls are generally found in their dander, as well as in their saliva, urine and sweat, and on their fur. Dander is a number one problem as it is small enough and can stay as airborne over periods of time. It also sticks easily in the furniture and onto your clothes.

 612.
Your Pitbull’s saliva can also stick to carpets, bedding, curtains and clothing. When saliva dries up, it becomes airborne as well.

 613.
Moreover, hypoallergenic dogs may shed less fur than the shedding types, but again there is no breed that can truly produce no allergy.

 614.

 615.
Risk factors

 616.
Allergies from a furry friend like dogs are very common. However, it is believed that you’re very much prone to develop a pet allergy if allergies or asthma already runs in your family. Exposure to dogs at an early age may help you avoid hypersensitivity from this furry creature. There are also studies which reveal that kids who have a dog during their first year of age may have a greater chance to develop immunity to infections in the childhood stage than those who don’t have a dog at home at that age.

 617.
Complications

 618.
Being allergic to dogs may lead to the following complications:

 619.
Sinus infections

 620.
Chronic inflammation of tissues of the nose passages brought by hypersensitivity to dogs can block the empty cavities directed to your sinuses. These blockage may make you prone to bacterial infections most likely sinusitis.

 621.
Asthma

 622.
Often times, individuals who have asthma and dog allergy at the same time finds it difficult to control symptoms of asthma attack. Because of this, the risk of having an attack from asthma needs prompt medical attention.

 623.
Diagnosis

 624.
Dog allergy can be comparable depending on its symptoms, nose examination, and an immediate and precise response on doctor’s medical questions. To assess the condition of the lining of your nose, the physician may use a lighted instrument. A swollen or pale or bluish appearance of the lining of your nasal passage is an indication of a dog allergy.

 625.
Allergy skin test

 626.
An allergy skin test determines the precise source of the allergen. Consult a specialist or allergist prior to subjecting to this test. This test works by using small amounts of allergen extract with an animal proteins. The extract will then be pricked into the skin on the forearm area or on the upper back.

 627.
Within 15 minutes, the doctor will look for any signs of hypersensitivity reaction. However, one may experience redness and itchiness of the skin as an adverse effect of this test. These side effects usually diminish within 30 minutes.

 628.
Blood test

 629.
There are some limitations in using a skin test in determining a hypersensitivity on pet. This is because of the presence of a skin condition or because of interactions with certain medications. As an alternative, the physician may go for a blood test that examines your blood for a certain antibodies that may cause allergy. This test may also indicate how sensitive you are to an allergen.

 630.
Reducing Dog Allergens

 631.
There are a number of ways that you can do in considering to choose a hypoallergenic pooch. Considering this simple tips may help you to have a furry buddy even if you are sensitivity reactions to it.

 632.
· Go for tiny pooch:

 633.
It is believed that the bigger the body built of the dog, the more allergy-causing hair it will cut off. Having a smaller dog means that there is minimal proteins that produces allergy are being spread out into your home. This will also limit the possibility for allergy symptoms from occurring.

 634.
· Bathe your pooch on a weekly basis:

 635.
It is recommended to bathe your doggy at least once a week. This will help remove dander and other possible allergens from your Pitbull’s coat. It will also lessen the possibility of your furry friend tracking them inside your home.

 636.
· A space for your pooch:

 637.
Look for a specific place for your doggy. Better to stick with it as much as possible. Deciding to put your pooch inside your home will limit their time outside. This will also cut down the amount of allergens they may track inside. Choosing your pooch to be an outdoor dog needs you to ensure that you give him a good bath, or at least wipe them down with a wet cloth. Better do this before you bring them inside for the night.

 638.
· Keep them off of furniture:

 639.
Banish your Pitbull inside your bedroom. Never let them onto your furniture. Rather, give your pooch a dog bed for them to lounge around in. Consider using a plastic-coated beanbag, which you can shake off outdoors every few days. Like the bedding in your bedroom, a dog bed tends to build-up and retain dander. Wash it in hot water at least once a week.

 640.
· Clean your floors often:

 641.
It is a bright idea that you clean your floors often. Sanitizing your floor is also an excellent choice. You must shampoo your carpet every 4-6 months, especially if your Pitbulls sleeps inside. If you have hard floors, such as tile or wood, you should consider using a steam mop to sanitize your floors at least once a month.

 642.
· Purify your indoor air:

 643.
Dander from your Pits and many other allergens are commonly distributed through the air. Fortunately, there are available air purifiers for pet dander. Try to use one of these air purifiers in order to reduce airborne allergens. It will also prevent an allergic reaction from occurring.

 644.
Treatment

 645.
The first line of treatment for controlling dog allergy is avoiding the allergy-causing animal as much as possible. You generally should expect to have allergic reactions that are less often or less severe. Especially, when you start to minimize your exposure to pet allergens. It’s very difficult to eliminate your exposure to animal allergens completely. Even if you are not a pet owner or a dog lover, you may unexpectedly encounter pet allergens transported on other people’s clothes.

 646.
To control the symptoms of your dog allergies, you may need some medications in addition to those preventing tips

 647.
1. Allergy medications

 648.
A physician may prescribe you to take one of the following medications to improve nasal allergy symptoms:

 649.

 650.
Antihistamines. Antihistamines generally decrease the activation of a substance that is responsible for an allergic response. They also help relieve itchiness of the nose. However antihistamine medications that may be given by a doctor in the form of nose spray are azelastine and olopatadine. Furthermore, over-the-counter (OTC) tablets like fexofenadine, loratadine, and cetirizine are also available in the market. There are also syrup forms sold in the market. You may also look for other antihistamine options as prescription tablets like levocetirizine and desloratadine.

 651.
Corticosteroids. Nasal spray having corticosteroids as an active ingredient decrease symptoms of allergy including inflammation. Corticosteroids nasal spray include mometasone furoate, triamcinolone, and ciclesonide. These antihistamine dosage form may cater drugs with small doses thus producing a less potential of having side effects compared to oral medications.

 652.
Decongestants. Moreover, there are also medications like the decongestants which decrease the inflammation of the passages of the nose. Because of this action, it helps to breathe easily through the nose. However, combination of antihistamine with a decongestant in an OTC tablet is also available. On the other hand, decongestants that are taken orally rise up the blood pressure. Moreover, nasal spray over-the-counter decongestants alleviate symptoms related to hypersensitivity reactions. But, be cautious of using this product for as long as three days of continuous use as it may trigger congestion.

 653.
Leukotriene modifiers. There are the leukotriene modifiers which block the action of specific substance that acts in the immune system. A tablet is given by a physician such as Montelukast in case antihistamines or corticosteroids won’t work. But, it may produce side effects including infection of the respiratory tract.

 654.

 655.
2. Other treatment

 656.
Immunotherapy

 657.
In immunotherapy, you can create your immune system not to respond to an allergen sensitively. Allergy shots are given to make immunotherapy effective. These shots for one to two weeks introduce you to little doses of allergy-producing protein from an animal.

 658.
A schedule of shots with a minimum of four months and a maximum of 6 months is taken to shoot up the dose little-by-little. Moreover, you maintenance shots is required to be taken in a schedule of every four weeks within the three to five year basis. Likewise, immunotherapy is usually an alternative when other simple treatments aren’t effective.

 659.
Nasal irrigation

 660.
This treatment usually works by flushing the mucus and nasal irritants from your sinuses. By using a neti pot or a squeeze bottle with a saltwater or saline solution, the nasal passage is rinse-off. Furthermore, if you want to use your own saline solution, a water that’s contaminant-free like distilled is recommended. Make sure that you wash the irrigation device after using with contaminant-free water. Afterwards, open and dry it on the air.

 661.
Lifestyle and home remedies

 662.
The best remedy for dog allergy is avoiding your exposure to this four-legged animal. However, this may doesn’t sound like a good option for most pet owners as the family members are often have an attaching relationship to their pets. Better ask your physician about the plan of decreasing your susceptibility to Pitbulls, instead of looking for a new area, location or room of your pooch. This could be more sufficient in treating your dog allergy.

 663.
All dogs would be hypoallergenic and not create any allergy symptoms. But choosing a hypoallergenic dog and consider this advice, you and your furry friend will share an excellent bond and life together.

 681.

The stress of everyday life is increasingly building up. The urban lifestyle has bought in loneliness as man has to engage himself and focus only on work but once everything ends, he has no one for himself. In such cases, one can adopt dogs for companionship as dogs are a man’s best friend. There are several breeds of dogs that one can consider for adopting.

 682.
Pitbulls are becoming an increasingly common household pet despite their history. They are strong and muscular but to the contrary are very sensitive and loyal. The dog has often been misunderstood and ill-treated and for the same reason, there is numerous adoption center overcrowded with Pitbulls.

 683.
They were not domesticated earlier and often questioned why are Pitbulls so muscular because this physical characteristic makes them look violent and aggressive. However, it is not the case as proper training can help to curb it. Some certain traits and characteristics make Pitbulls a family dog.

 684.

 685.
History of Pitbulls

 686.
The Pitbulls can be traced back to early 1800, they were bred from the bulldog and terrier, so it has traits and characteristics of both the breeds. They were originally bred for the cruel sport of bull-baiting- where the dogs were set to harass each other for hours until one of them collapsed. These fights were held for entertainment but in the later years, this sport was prohibited.

 687.
It was because of the breeding that made Pitbulls so muscular and also aggressive. Despite the tenacity, many petted the dog because of its certain qualities and traits. Even today, Pitbulls continue to receive more positive attention, and a large part of media in collaboration with adoption centers are trying to promote an accurate image of the dog.

 688.
Makings pitbull more muscular

 689.
The breed of Pitbulls includes several kinds of breeds like the American pit bull terrier, Stafford bull terrier, etc. They are medium-sized dogs and muscular. Some may be usually lean, although this can vary across breeds. Adding more muscle mass to the pitbull requires little effort, some of them are:

 690.
Natural Wholesome grains

 691.
One can place their dogs in a high-quality kibble. They are voracious eaters but one should make sure that the food does not contain any kind of fillers or artificial additives. Only a primary ingredient is enough for the pet to become healthier. The kibble should have little meat meal or bone meal as possible.

 692.
Animal Proteins

 693.
The next step could be adding lean protein to the dog’s diet. Lean proteins such as bits of chicken, lean beef, and eggs will help the pitbull to develop more smooth muscle. One should also make sure to not feed their dogs too much meat as this will lead to an upset digestive system.

 694.
Training & Exercise

 695.
Road work and jogging can be added to the plan. These exercise helps the muscles of your dog to stretch and contract, this will encourage

 696.
Harness in muscle development

 697.
Growth of the muscle fibers. One can use a harness as it will help to distribute weight better than the thin collar. Eventually, the workout time can be increased so that the dog’s stamina gradually increases.

 698.
Playing with Tug Station in Muscle development

 699.
Pitbulls are known for large neck and chest muscles and a powerful jaw. A tug station will allow the pitbull to work more on the muscles without an injury. Allow the dog to tug using a rubber loop. This will help the dog to be able to tug however he likes and in the process, it can also build muscles

 700.
Proper rehydration, hemostasis & mineral balance

 701.
The whole process of gaining muscles may be hard on the dog. Hydration is necessary to prevent damage to the growing muscles so it is important to offer fresh water to the dogs as Pitbulls are very susceptible to dehydration and stroke.

 702.
Outdoor as well as indoor activities

 703.
It is important to maintain a living space that allows the pitbull to have physical activity. Those who have an ample amount of space can consider setting up toys that encourage exercise even when the dog is alone at home.

 704.

 705.
What makes Pitbulls so muscular

 768.
How hydrotherapy help your Pitbull

 769.
Swimming has a lot of benefits to human, it can cool us off on a hot summer day to be able to stay in shape. However, the good news is swimming with your dogs may also give a reward to your canine friend from time spent in the water. It can keep your Pitbull in shape, relieve his arthritic pain, or get him back on his feet after surgery. All of these can be experienced by your pooch by giving him hydrotherapy for dogs.

 770.
In hydrotherapy, it generally works by the use of water characteristics like buoyancy and pressure of hydrostatic state. Through this, it enables a canine to use his joints. The weight of someone submerged in water is supported because of the water buoyancy. Meaning, your Pit is not against and fighting gravity. The function of water buoyancy is primarily to reduce the stress on the joints. Because of this, there will be a much safer environment for recovery after surgery.

 771.
This type of healing is also beneficial for Pitbulls who are recovering from an injury, those who suffer from degenerative joint disease, and those who have been paralyzed. Not only that, but it can also help your furry buddy suffering from fractures, hip dysplasia, the amputation of a limb, and neurological disorders. It may be especially a good healing for canines who suffer from arthritis due to old age. This is through the warm water that helps reduce joint swelling.

 772.
Types of Hydrotherapy for Pitbull

 773.
There are different forms of hydrotherapy that are available for Pitbull. It includes whirlpools, underwater treadmills, and dog pools. These types all offer a controlled environment. Let us try to identify which one would you like your doggy to experience.

 774.
Underwater treadmills

 775.
This type of hydrotherapy for dogs are often used for those with joint problems. Underwater treadmills work by when your Pit begins to walk on the treadmill and the water creates the resistance needed to strengthen the muscles in a low-impact environment. It can give your Pitbull improved circulation, increased joint flexibility, and decreased joint pain. Other benefits your pooch may get from this type are muscle strength and endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, increased flexibility, a range of motion, and agility.

 776.
However, each aquatic facility for canines is different. Some facilities simply include pools, while others have a higher-tech equipment like this underwater treadmills. The type of water that can be used for your Pits may also vary. Some dogs may need to work out in warm water. Warm water provides the loosening of the tight muscles. It is also used more often for therapy or recovery sessions. Moreover, colder water is generally used for athletic dogs who are training or exercising. This way it helps them maintain a normal, balanced body temperature.

 777.
Further, swimming with your dogs should only be limited. The length of time Pitbulls spend in the pool would still be based on veterinary recommendations. But, most of the swimming sessions for canines can range from 10 minutes to a half an hour.

 778.
Benefits of Hydrotherapy for Your Pits

 779.
One of the benefits of hydrotherapy for dogs is that it stimulates, strengthens, and relaxes their body. Water therapy may also improve your Pitbull’s balance, coordination, and increase overall energy levels. This can all be experienced by your pooch while reducing their pain and stress.

 780.
Below are the benefits of hydrotherapy for your Pitbull:

 781.

 782.
Water helps to increase circulation and helps to have a good skin and fur.

 783.
The water can elevate the drainage of the lymph, prevents the body of acquiring wastes, and aids in developing the immune system.

 784.
Water can encourage better digestion and can promote balance and coordination.

 785.
Hydrotherapy for dogs can also help those who need to shed a few pounds.

 786.
It can help to strengthen and condition your Pits all year round.

 787.
Hydrotherapy also helps dogs to recover after undergoing a surgery or to support dogs with arthritis to move their joints comfortably.

 790.

 791.

 792.
Possible Risk of Hydrotherapy for Pitbull

 793.
Aside from the numerous advantages of hydrotherapy and swimming with your dogs, there are some risks pet owners should be aware of in the water. Here is some risk that your Pitbull might experience:

 794.
1. Recurrent ear infections

 795.
This is the most common risk which results from too much water in the ears. The agitation of certain skin conditions and excessive fatigue may also lead to drowning if your Pitbulls are not properly monitored.

 796.
2. Chlorine toxicity

 797.
It is known that chlorine use in pools may also be one of then concern of pet owners, but the chemical itself should not be a cause for concern. The Chlorine toxicity in Pitbull is dose-dependent. It is better for the aquatic facilities to properly monitor chlorine levels and dilutes chlorine properly. This is for the safety for both Pitbulls and humans. Moreover, there are many aquatic facilities nowadays that also have UV filtration systems. The so-called system helps to lower the need for high levels of chlorine in pools.

 798.
3. Other health concerns

 799.
It is very much advisable that Pits with previous health conditions should follow veterinary advice and let them recover fully before diving into the pool. Most especially those Pits with urinary tract infections, ear infections, skin infections, or open wounds. They should allow these conditions to heal before engaging themselves in hydrotherapy.

 800.
Also, if your pooch is coughing or seems to be having trouble taking in the air, pull them out immediately from the water for observation and rest. Aquatic facilities should provide staff members that would monitor the level of water being taken by your dog. Because this may lead to pneumonia or intoxication from water. This may happen if your Pitbull gets high level of water while in the pool.

 801.
4. Develop stress

 802.
It is a no-no to leave your Pitbulls unattended in the water. If that’s the case the activity should be stopped immediately most likely if signs of stress are observed.

 803.
5. Increase blood pressure and heart rate

 804.
There are Pitbulls who are anxious or stressed, and they may experience increased blood pressure and increased heart rates when they get into the water.

 805.
Post-therapy Care for Your Pits

 806.
You need to bath or at least rinse your Pitbull afterwards most likely if he swims water that is treated with chlorine or salt. Treatments that are suitable for the post-swimming session are provided that you and your Pits might enjoy as well:

 807.
1. Sea Plasma All-purpose Skin and Hair Moisturizing Spray

 808.
Sodium pyrrolidone carboxylic acid is the key ingredient of this product. This is a natural moisturizer of your Pitbull skin which is synthesized from glutamic acid, a non-essential amino acid. Dilute it at the rate of 1 part product to 10 parts water. It absorbs deep down the skin, helps maintain the skin look younger, decreases pet hair-causing allergy, and has a nice smell.

 809.
2. Chamomile-peppermint tea After-swim Spray

 810.
Chamomile is a well-known skin soother that has a calming effect on dogs. This helps your Pitbull to relax and rest after workouts. It helps eliminates irritations of the fur and skin and is very suitable for those Pits with a sensitive skin. The peppermint’s fragrance in it is very energizing and invigorating at the same time.

 811.
You’ll need to pour 1 quart boiling water over 2 chamomile and 2 peppermint tea bags. One quart is enough for small dogs. For large breeds, brew up to 4 quarts (1 gallon) tea. However, do not use this if your Pitbull has white hair because herbal teas can blacken the hair.

 812.
Hydrotherapy for Dogs – Not for All Breeds

 813.
Despite its exceptional benefits, hydrotherapy for dogs is not applicable to every dog. The list of exceptions includes those with diseases of the heart, wound infections, or anxiety of being in the water. A Pitbull with aggression can be a problem as well.

 814.
Another thing that you may need to know about swimming with your dogs is that if a Pitbull has never shown an interest in swimming, it doesn’t mean that he won’t benefit at all. Most of the Pits have learned, that getting into the water and swimming can be fun. However, with the help of those doggy life vests and a very good trainer, your Pitbull will learn all of this. Moreover, let your Pits have a land-based exercise if he is the type who are truly terrified of water.

 815.
Further, not every pet owner can afford hydrotherapy for dogs. This cost much more than recreational water activities. Also, lots of clinics imposed various fees based on the care, diagnosis and mitigation your Pitbull requires. The charges or fees may also depend on region and facility. However, most offer discounts for packages of five or more swim sessions.

 816.
DIY Pitbull Hydrotherapy

 817.
If you don’t have much money to afford those aquatic facilities, swimming with your dog is not a problem. Pet owners who have access to pools, lakes, the ocean, or other bodies of water can benefit from this. Aside from that, they can also help their Pitbull to stay active by taking them swimming.

 818.
Do everything and make the experience positive for your pooch. Introduce your Pitbull and enter the water gradually giving them lots of praise and rewards. Your Pitbull may get to swimming through the repetition of this step. However, better make sure that the area is safe for your Pits. This is very much applicable for those living near a stream, lake, or river.

 906.

In-Ground System

 907.
Get an In-ground system for the following situation:

 908.
• If you are planning to have a complete, more reliable consistent, accurate, and effective dog fence system

 909.
• You won’t mind all the extra time and money that it might take to install the system

 910.

 911.

Wireless System

 912.
Wireless System should be considered if:

 913.
• A faster and simpler set up is vital to you

 914.
• You like to have a portable system

 915.
• You are open with the possibility that the system could be less effective and less reliable if there are a signal or connection interruptions.

 916.

 917.

In-Ground vs. Wireless Dog Fence Network Distinction

 922.
⇒ much larger up to around 25 acres with additional wire

 923.
⇒ takes a lot more time to install

 924.
• Wireless System:

 925.
⇒ set by a signal coming from a transmitter

 926.
⇒ the shape can only be in a circle

 927.
⇒ smaller perimeter at around 1/2 acre for a standard system

 928.
⇒ only takes a couple of hours to set up

 929.
⇒ Portable type

 930.

 931.

In-Ground vs. Wireless Dog Fence Network Comparability

 932.
♦ Both are used to keep one or more Pitbulls within a certain area

 933.
♦ They both come with transmitters and collar receivers

 971.

Seeing our Pitties go through a surgical operation is a heart-wrenching moment. But aside from this, we also have to deal with vet bills and the overall cost of the treatment. To be honest, not all of us have the means to cover all the expenses. This is why a financial assistance for dog surgery is a heaven-sent help to make ends meet.

 972.

QUICK NAVIGATION

 973.
The cost of dog surgery

 974.
How to find a pet financial assistance

 975.
Organizations that give pet financial assistance

 976.
Conclusion

 977.

 978.
It can happen to all dogs. Even if you give all the TLC you can give, there will come a time that some health factors that are beyond your control will take over. Your Pitty may have some sort of genetic problems that are now manifesting as a massive health issue.

 979.
Still, no pawrent would want to let their doggo suffer in silence just because they can’t afford quality health care services. The good news is that many organizations are here to help depending on your pet’s condition.

 980.
The cost of dog surgery

 981.
Most pet owners know that a single illness can cost thousands of bucks in treatment. For Pitbulls, hip dysplasia is one of the most common conditions that will require a surgical procedure to treat. This condition can cost around $1,700 to $4,500 for the most advanced cases. Aside from this vet bill, you may also have to spend for life-long care, especially if your pooch is tied to a dog wheelchair.

 982.
Aside from this, knee problems may also take place. The likes of severe patellar luxation will charge you between $1,500 and $3,500 per affected knee.

 983.
As you see, each condition and the level of severity will affect the cost of the surgery. Here are more of the conditions your Pitbull may have together with the possible cost:

 984.
➕Gastrointestinal surgery

 985.
As you know, Pitbulls have very sensitive stomachs. They are prone to gastric torsion that will require an operation to get the gas out of the dog’s tummy. This is a minor surgery, but if the condition is left untreated, it can cost you up to $5,000.

 986.
Aside from this, intestinal obstruction is also a common condition among Pitbulls. Since they like chewing things, there’s a high probability that your pooch may ingest objects that will block their intestines. This usually requires urgent attention and a surgery that may cost around $800 or up to $7,000 for the worst cases. Pet financial assistance might be needed here.

 987.
➕Canine cancer

 988.
Like any other breeds, Pitbulls can also develop cancer. The likes of bladder cancer, mast cell tumor, hemangiosarcoma, melanoma, and mammary carcinoma are just some of the common conditions among Pitbulls. Each of these will require a different set of continuous treatment and surgical operations.

 989.
When it comes to cancer, surgical procedures can happen more than once. Also, the expenses will include medicines and other costs related to the treatment. Most dog cancer treatments will charge a pawrent up to $9,000 for the surgery and succeeding radiation treatments. This price can escalate as the treatment lingers.

 990.
➕CCL tear

 991.
Pitbulls are very energetic dogs. They can zoom in too fast to the point that they’re going to tear their cranial cruciate ligament (CCL). This can cause limping and intense pain for Pitties if not treated right away. A surgery to fix this issue will cost around $1,000 to $2,000. Seeking pet financial assistance will help ease the cost.

 992.
➕Bladder stones

 993.
The formation of bladder stones can happen to Pitbulls too. However, the cost for the treatment will depend on the method used for the treatment. In the case of urohydropropulsion, the expenses for the sedation, catheterization, and irrigating fluids will be as much as $750.

 994.
If the case of bladder stone on your Pitty will require cystotomy, the cost will start at $2,200 for medium to large breeds. This cost will increase if added medication and hospital confinement are necessary for your pooch.

 995.

 996.
➕Heart problems

 997.
Of all the other breeds, Pitbulls are one of those who have a high risk of heart diseases and failures. This condition requires immediate treatment and surgical procedures. And as you know, heart surgeries are very expensive.

 998.
It’s one-fifth of the overall cost of heart surgery among humans, that’s around $10,000 to $20,000. The sad truth is that only a fraction of all the Pitbull owners can afford this price. And since most Pitties are covered only by animal liability insurance, their owners would have to shoulder all the out-of-pocket expenses. This is why financial assistance for dog surgery is needed more than ever.

 999.
➕Bone fractures

 1000.
Since Pitties have a history of notorious skeletal issues, there’s a chance that they will also experience bone fractures at some point in their lives. This condition will cost around $3,000+ depending on the severity of the fracture. Take note that even a bad fall from your bed can land your Pitty in the vet hospital for days.

 1001.
Follow up visits to the vet will cost more as well as the continuing treatment for the fracture.

 1002.
➕Internal bleeding

 1003.
Internal bleeding can be a standalone condition or a complication of another health problem. Tumors, for one, can rupture internal organs that can cause the bleeding. In this case, your dog is suffering from two life-threatening conditions – the bleeding and the possibly malignant tumor inside his body.

 1004.
The only way to treat this is to undergo a surgical procedure. This can cause thousands of dollars in treatment and continuing care.

 1005.
How to find a pet financial assistance

 1006.
Sure, a hefty medical bill is daunting, but you don’t have to carry the burden alone. Many people and groups offer help for pawrents like you who are exhausting all means to save their beloved pooches. If you’re trying to find a financial assistance for dog surgery, here are some points to guide you:

 1007.
Ask your vet. Veterinarians are usually acquainted with organizations that provide financial assistance to dog owners who have skyrocketing vet bills. The dog doctor may also waiver his professional fee in the event that the cost of treatment is too much for you to manage.

 1008.
Tap your insurance coverage. If your Pitty is covered by a wider policy, there’s a chance that the pet insurance can help with the expenses. Best pet insurance for 2024 may help cover some of the expenses. Our well-thought-out post on the best pet insurance for 2024 covers the latest options and insights in great depth.

 1009.
Secure a pet credit card. The likes of CareCredit are accepted by many veterinarians in the U.S. You can use this and pay the amount in increments. Usually, you won’t be charged any interest if you pay everything on time.

 1010.
Contact animal care organizations. Right now, many animal welfare groups, especially those dedicated for Pitbulls, help pet owners on their financial woes related to vet bills and treatment. Below are some of the trusted organizations that you can reach out to:

 1011.
Organizations that give pet financial assistance

 1012.
If you’re in dire need of financial help, these organizations can lend a helping hand:

 1013.
➕American Pit Bull Foundation (APBF)

 1014.
The APBF promotes and protects the welfare of Pitties by providing help in every way they can. The APBF Helping Hands Fund is made to help Pitties with special needs. Some of the conditions they cover are spaying, gastrointestinal surgery, cruciate repairs, fracture repairs, amputations, and orthopedic surgeries.

 1015.
Take note, though, that their grant depends on the amount of the fund at the time you seek for assistance. Also, you could be denied a grant if the fund is out of balance or if the foundation deems your application void.

 1016.
Also, APBF only provides assistance to Bully breeds and you should submit necessary documents to be considered for the grant. You can check their requirements HERE.

 1017.
➕Magic Bullet Fund

 1018.
Dedicated to assisting dogs with cancer, the Magic Bullet Fund will provide financial assistance to pet owners who don’t have any means to shoulder the cost of treatment. However, you should prove to MBF that you really can’t pay for the entirety of the expenses and that your dog’s life will be extended with their help.

 1019.
When you got accepted to the Magic Bullet Fund, you’ll contribute any amount that you can manage and then the Fund will cover everything. It’s a highly inclusive financial assistance for dog surgery.

 1020.
Take note that MBF doesn’t give grants. Instead, they will initiate a fundraiser where you should take an active part. The amount that will be received through the fundraiser will be used for your dog’s treatment. You can check them HERE .

 1021.
➕Onyx and Breezy Foundation

 1022.
This foundation caters to pets in general with evident medical difficulties. Some of the conditions the Onyx and Breezy Foundation assisted are cancer, dogs suffering from PTSD, rescue and disaster relief, and more physical ailments.

 1023.
Like the Magic Bullet, this foundation relies on donations. The difference is you can apply for a grant if you’re seeking to receive cash to pay for the expenses.

 1024.
To apply for a grant, you first have to apply for a CareCredit account. This will be submitted to the foundation for reviewing. For more information, you can check the process HERE.

 1025.

 1026.
➕Red Rover

 1027.
For those looking for a small pet financial assistance, the Red Rover Relief Urgent Care can give a cash grant. Most of their grants are around $200. It might seem small, but this can already ease a chunk of the expenses on your Pitty’s operation and continuous treatment.

 1028.
They usually respond to requests in one to two days. But like any other assistance organizations, Red Rover can only help on a small chunk of the medical bills. Still, this is very helpful for owners who really can’t support their dog’s medical needs. For more information on how to file a grant request, you can check it HERE.

 1029.
➕The Pet Fund

 1030.
For Pitbulls with non-basic, non-urgent conditions, you can reach out to the Pet Fund for financial assistance. They help dogs with conditions like cancer, endocrine diseases, heart disease, and other chronic health problems. Orthopedic surgeries like CCL tears and fractures ARE NOT included on their coverage.

 1031.
To get the one-time grant, your Pitty should be adopted and you’re living in the U.S.A. And since The Pet Fund receives over 200 calls per day, you will be included in a waiting list. The amount of the grant will vary on the condition and The Pet Fund’s discretion. To know more about their financial assistance, you can check them HERE.

 1032.
➕Paws 4 A Cure

 1033.
This organization intends to help families and individuals with dogs that are currently facing medical challenges. Take note that they only help dogs in private ownership and not those in rescue shelters. Their grant is at a maximum of $500, but this can be lower depending on the availability of the donations.

 1034.
This small amount can help in reducing the bills of your dog. Still, you can tap the help of other organizations to ease the financial burden. Make sure that you complete Paws 4 A Cure’s online application to qualify for a pet financial assistance. Check it HERE.

 1035.
➕Pit Bull Rescue Central

 1036.
This organization helps Pit Bulls by finding and giving them a new home as well as providing financial assistance to owners who can’t afford the increasing medical bills. They initiate fundraising efforts to help Pitties who are recovering from various conditions like cancer, heart disease, and more.

 1039.
It’s every pet owner’s nightmare to see their doggos go through the painful process of recovering from a chronic condition. However, it’s also difficult for the pet parents when it’s time to pay the bills. Surgery procedures and continuous treatments can cost thousands of dollars. And to admit, not all of us have the capacity to shell out such amount of money.

 1040.
This is the reason why the above organizations are providing assistance to pet owners. Although their grants may not pay for everything, the financial help is a big contribution already. As a pet owner, never rely on a single organization alone. You can tap the help of numerous groups to collect the amount that will suffice for your pooch’s treatment.

 1041.
A financial assistance for dog surgery will be a big help, especially if you’re cash-strapped. Still, no matter how hard the situation is, nothing will put a loving pawrent down.

 1061.

Taming an aggressive Pitty pup? This might be an intimidating task, but with patience and the right approach, that doggo will yield to your TLC. As paw-rents, our goal is to have a loveable and kind dog. But for some reasons like poor breeding or violence, our pups tend to develop aggression. But as much as this behavior is formed, it can also be re-shaped into something positive. We only have to know how to train an aggressive Pitbull puppy.

 1076.

 1077.
Pitbulls can be friendly, loyal, and clingy pets. But to enjoy their affection, you have to do your part as the pet owner. You have to train them as early as possible to dampen their negative behavior.

 1078.
For first-time Pitbull owners, this can be an unchartered territory. From someone who also went through the same phase, you don’t have to worry. There are lots of resources you can use and help that you can tap to guide you through.

 1079.
On this post, I’ll share my personal insights and tips on how to turn that aggressive pup into the most adorable doggo.

 1080.
Why is the dog aggressive in the first place?

 1081.
First off, we have to point out the cause of aggression.

 1082.

For Pitbulls, there are two possible reasons: their bloodline or their prior experiences.

 1083.
When it comes to the bloodline, training can be really challenging. You’re fighting against genetic makeup here, and if you want to succeed, you need the help of a professional trainer.

 1084.
As you know, Pitbulls are initially bred for blood sports. The aggressive genes can be passed on to puppies during breeding. If it happens that you got a pup from an unreliable breeder, you’d have to deal with problematic behavior.

 1085.
Another fix for a bloodline-related aggression is to neuter the pooch. With lower hormonal imbalances, your Pitty should be more laid back and toned down. Still, knowing how to train aggressive Pitbulls is required to fully shape their behavior.

 1086.
As for experienced-related aggression, there’s a chance that rescue Pitties would be suffering from this. If you’re adopting, the rescue center should advise you of the pooch’s temperament. This will give you an idea of where to start with training. Remember, however, that even rescue dogs can have bloodline-related aggression.

 1087.
Understanding Pitbull temperament

 1088.
Naturally, Pitbulls are assertive and confident. Still, this doesn’t mean they are innately aggressive. Usually, Pitties become aggressive when their territorial behavior is fueled. The negative behavior also thrives under anxiety and fear.

 1089.

Take note that Pitbulls are more likely to be aggressive against other dogs than to humans. Nevertheless, it’s still important to rule out this harsh behavior or it will start to cause problems within the neighborhood and your insurance company.

 1090.
Knowing how to train an aggressive Pitbull puppy is more than just instilling discipline within your household.

 1091.
You should observe how your dog behaves under certain circumstances. For example, if he’s scared of your cat, it may likely turn into aggression if you don’t do anything about it. Your Pitty should be watchful, confident, and curious but never jumpy and edgy.

 1092.
Starting early

 1093.
If you want to remove the aggression on your Pitbull, subject him to obedience training the moment you bring him home. An untrained dog is a ticking time bomb. Know how to train aggressive Pitbulls by contacting dog obedience schools and organizations. You have the option to either train the pooch at home or enroll him on a formal training school.

 1094.
Remember, you’re trying to fight aggression here. Always practice positive reinforcement. Any harsh or violent response like punishments and shouting will only fuel the problem.

 1095.
Be the alpha

 1096.
Dogs are pack animals. This means that they look up to a member as their alpha. Based on the dominance theory, you, as the pet owner, can be the alpha. But how will you do it? By being in control of his food, toys, and access to parts of the house, your Pitty will start to recognize you as the upper hand.

 1097.

Teach your pooch that he’s not allowed on the sofa or he has to sit first before he can eat. These little actions will define who runs the house.

 1098.
However, this isn’t meant for you to boss around. You should allow your pooch some freedom to explore only if he’s disciplined enough.

 1099.

 1100.
Socialization

 1101.
This is the number one prerogative for owning a Pitbull. You have to socialize this breed so they can grow as friendly and loving dogs. Since they have the tendency to be aggressive and territorial against other dogs, it’s best to let them mingle with other pooches. You can send him to a training school where dozens of other doggos are present.

 1102.
Walking your new pup in a dog park is a big risk. If you’re not skilled in breaking dogfights, you should stick to obedience schools first.

 1103.

Pitbulls need more socialization than any other breeds. If you’ve done socialization on your other dogs, you have to double it once you decide to own a Pitbull.

 1104.
Sending your dog to obedience schools

 1105.
For owners who want to give their dogs a jumpstart in training, obedience school is the way to go. Puppyhood is a very delicate phase for Pitbulls. This is the time where they develop fears and aggression. You only want to do training the right away; otherwise, you will be hard-wiring negative behavior that will manifest at a later age.

 1106.
Dog schools have licensed trainers skilled in dealing with aggressive dogs.

 1107.

Personally, I recommend that you enroll your pooch on the American Kennel Club’s Good Canine Citizenship Program. This is the best training program for a number of reasons.

 1108.
First, this is a solid starting point for your pooch. The training also includes teaching dog owners how to deal with specific behavioral problems. So when it’s time for you to take over, you’ll know how to train an aggressive Pitbull puppy.

 1109.
Next, some insurance companies recognize the AKC’s Good Canine Citizenship Certificate as an exemption on their no-dangerous breed rule. It can also be your ticket to a landlord who’s skeptical about your choice of pet.

 1110.
Desensitization

 1111.
Most Pitbull pups would likely develop aggression on the most mundane things. If your pooch barks and bites the vacuum, you should let him get used to the appliance’s presence. Leave the vacuum around. After that, start turning the vacuum on for a few seconds. Start with the lowest intensity and then increase it slowly. Soon enough, your dog will realize that the vacuum is just part of your daily living and it’s not worth the ruckus.

 1112.
The same goes for the doorbell, the people around, the other dogs, and other fears your doggo might have. Knowing how to train aggressive Pitbulls can be tricky but, if done right, should serve its purpose.

 1113.
Counterconditioning

 1114.
It’s not enough that your pooch develops tolerance towards the aggression-inducing stimuli you desensitize him with. After you successfully performed the previous point, it’s time to counter condition the pooch.

 1115.

Counterconditioning is the process of helping your dog develop positive associations with different aggression-inducing stimuli.

 1116.
You know what’s the trick here? Endless petting. Pitbulls love physical affection and if you pet them in the presence of their “enemies”, they will start to associate this thing to the reward whenever when they are exposed to it.

 1117.
Make sure that you do this while your Pitty is on a leash. You’ll never know when too much excitement and aggression can take over.

 1118.
Physical stimulation

 1119.
Aggressive Pitties may look intimidating, but they only need more love to soften up. Slowly, get the pooch used to physical stimulation like petting or hugging. Slow your roll on this one to prevent the dog from feeling like you’re invading his bubble.

 1120.
As you socialize him, teach him to be accepting of strangers’ petting. This will make the Pitbull a friendly dog in the future. Knowing how to train an aggressive Pitbull puppy should always include this.

 1121.
Aside from this kind of physical stimulation, you should also satisfy the pooch’s activity requirement. Take him to long walks, play fetch with the pooch, and make sure that he’s tired at the end of the day. As they say, a tired dog is a happy dog.

 1122.

The moment the Pitbull associated your presence with fun and exploration, he will start to be nicer to you. You become the alpha in this situation.

 1123.
Once your Pitty can respond well to most of your commands, you can take time to hiking, swimming, and more outdoor adventures. You can also bike and let the pooch run on your side.

 1124.
How about rescued fighting Pitbulls?

 1125.
Back in 2007, NFL star player Michael Vick pleaded guilty to a federal felony case after authorities discovered a dogfighting ring inside his Virginia property. About 51 Pitbulls were rescued from Vick’s property, some in a much-emaciated condition.

 1126.
A majority of the rescued dogs were abused, tortured, and forced to fight each other. Those that are yet to be subjected to the same torture witness the violence other dogs went through.

 1127.
Out of the 51 Pitbulls, 47 were sent to rescue centers and recovery sanctuaries. Some of these dogs are now adopted by their new families and living a happy life as family dogs. Some even became therapy dogs!

 1128.

So you ask me, can rescued Pitbulls be trained to be non-aggressive? With professional help, these aggressive pooches can turn into total sweethearts.

 1129.
So stop believing people saying that a dog’s past determines its ability to be a family pet. Like humans, abused dogs can be reformed with tender love and care. It’s all about knowing how to train aggressive Pitbulls.

 1130.

 1131.
Why you should never use punishment

 1132.
Pitbulls are very sensitive dogs. They share the same stubborn temperament with that of Huskies which means they don’t thrive on a highly assertive nature.

 1133.

If you punish a Pitbull for misbehavior, it would only develop anxiety that will start to border into aggression over a short period.

 1134.
Instead, utilize positive reinforcement. A pet owner doesn’t have to be a dog expert to know that positive reinforcement is the single way of getting your dog to follow commands.

 1135.
Use treats and affection to encourage your pooch to practice discipline and restraint. Make sure that the treats are easy to eat like kibble and soft chews. Reserve the jerkies and other tough treats at the end of the training session.

 1136.
Always use a leash

 1137.
Remember that Pitbulls’ energetic nature and aggression aren’t a good mix. Always leash your pooch during training and when socializing them. Prefer a short leash with a thick material which will last long. Leashing will ensure that you are in control of your pooch’s movement. If he starts to act harshly, you can pull him away to keep him back on track.

 1138.
Aside from the leash, ensure that you’re using a harness instead of a collar. Since aggressive Pitties are pullers, regular collars can injure their neck and trachea. Knowing how to train aggressive Pitbulls should include safety at all cost.

 1139.
Also, some neighborhoods require the likes of Pitbulls to be leashed every time it’s brought in public.

 1140.

Remember: never use shock collars when training aggressive Pitbulls. This form of punishment will defeat the purpose of obedience training.

 1141.
The leash is also a way to protect your pooch from other dogs. Some Pitbulls don’t have the ability to defend themselves against bigger dogs. With that, do the pooch a favor and leash him all the time

 1142.
Don’t rush them with the kids

 1143.
If you have a toddler or baby in the house, never force domestication with the aggressive Pitbull. You’d want to ensure that the doggo is already well-disciplined, affectionate, and way past his aggressive behavior.

 1144.
Since toddlers have sudden movements, aggressive Pitties might see this as a threat. It will both be dangerous for both the child and the dog to co-exist at this point in time.

 1145.

It’s best to seek professional training if you have a child at home. This way, you will have peace of mind that your Pitbull will be more of a protector than a threat.

 1146.
Knowing how to train an aggressive Pitbull puppy is a challenging task. But if you’re willing to extend your patience and love, these hostile doggos can become one of the sweetest canines you can ever have.

 1191.
Pitbulls have one of the most sensitive digestive systems. This becomes worse as they grow older. If given a food that no longer suits their ability to digest, they will experience a host of gastrointestinal problems. For you, as the pet owner, that translates to more vet visits and medical bills.

 1192.
But first, how will you know if your old pooch has a sensitive stomach? Here are some of the symptoms:

 1193.
Signs that your senior Pitbull has a sensitive stomach

 1194.
Diarrhea. Having runny poo is a common occurrence to some dogs. However, if it becomes too prevalent, this can be a sign of intestinal issues. If your senior Pitty is exhibiting this symptom, it’s best to seek the help of a veterinarian.

 1195.
Gas. Is your doggo always bloated? Does he fart non-stop? There’s a chance that his food isn’t sitting well on his tummy. Gas formation is a common sign of this and if the air on their stomach gets trapped, it can pose a deadly consequence.

 1196.
Vomiting. Vomiting is the body’s way of eliminating an irritant out of its system. So if your dog vomits, it means his stomach has encountered an irritant or food component that it finds impossible to digest.

 1197.
Declining to eat. Some dogs who had previously suffered from stomach problems under a certain food would loathe eating. If this happens, it’s important to consult the vet. There’s a chance that the doggo is still feeling some tummy discomfort.

 1198.
Why your dog has a sensitive stomach

 1199.
Stomach sensitivity can be triggered by a variety of factors that can range from food ingredients to emotional stress. It’s important to consult a veterinarian to remove the guesswork on your part as the pet owner. You can have the best canned food for senior dogs but still, observe problems on your dog. Still, make sure that you observe some of the symptoms and these possible causes:

 1200.
➕Allergy

 1201.
One of the leading causes of stomach sensitivity is an allergy. Although it’s a case of a poor immune system, food allergy can still upset the stomach. If you suspect that this is the case, you can start the elimination process to point out which food causes the problem.

 1202.
The vet will also perform skin testing on your dog to verify the allergen.

 1203.
➕Intolerance

 1204.
Your dog’s inability to digest certain food ingredients is a direct cause of a sensitive stomach. And since the ingredients aren’t broken down and absorbed, it can irritate the stomach which can induce vomiting and diarrhea. As for senior dogs, stick with easy-to-digest protein sources as well as food options with low fat. By any cost, do not give your senior Pitty any table scraps. If it’s not good for a puppy, it’s not the best food for senior dogs with sensitive stomachs.

 1205.
Still, you should be mindful if your doggo likes digging on the garbage. He might have ingested something inedible or spoiled.

 1206.
➕Treats as the culprit

 1207.
The main meal may not be the culprit for the sensitivity but the treats that you’re giving. Your senior pitty might be ingesting rawhide or is allergic or intolerant to some of the ingredients. And even if the treats don’t have any of the irritants, giving your senior dog too many will overwhelm its stomach. Remember that senior Pitbulls aren’t supposed to eat as much as they do during their younger years.

 1208.
➕Intense emotional stress

 1209.
It seems like butterflies in the stomach is way more than an expression when it comes to dogs. As Pitbulls are prone to separation anxiety, they tend to experience an overwhelming emotional distress. This may disrupt his stomach’s normal functions as well as the manner of eating.

 1210.
You can address this by slowly eliminating any possible stressor that your senior Pitty is experiencing.

 1211.
Food ingredients that can cause stomach issues

 1212.
If the cause of the stomach problem is the dog food, you should know which of the ingredients are inducing the problem. For sure, one or two of the components are the bad actors. This is the reason why you should get the best canned food for senior dogs. To give you an idea, here are some of the common sensitivity-causing ingredients to watch out for:

 1213.
➕Protein

 1214.
Yes, even the most important food component of your dog’s food can be a problem too. As you know, the protein source is the main allergy trigger for Pitties. Some of these doggos just find it hard to digest some of the meat types. Still, each Pitty will have unique reactions to certain types of meat. If my pooch is allergic to beef, yours may not.

 1215.
You can try switching to a new protein source and see if it fixes the problem. Take note that old Pitbulls will have stomach problems if given too much protein.

 1216.
➕Fat content

 1217.
A high-fat diet is very difficult to digest for old Pitties. If the fat source or oil ingredient is listed as one of the first four ingredients, that means the dog food has very high fat on it. Check the percentage of the food and consider switching to a low-fat one. The advice of a vet will help here.

 1218.
➕Fiber content

 1219.
Fiber is a very important food component but you have to make sure that it won’t affect nutrient digestibility. Because if it does, that’s where the problem starts. Beet pulp is a good source which is commonly used in commercial dog food. But if your dog responds to this negatively, you can ask the vet for an alternative option.

 1220.
➕Nutrient balance

 1221.
If your Pitty is suffering from some kind of nutrient deficiency, there’s a chance that the pooch will have a pissed stomach. A homemade meal is likely to cause nutrient deficiency if it’s not formulated properly.

 1222.
So how will you find the right food?

 1223.
When it comes to the best food for senior dogs with sensitive stomachs, you shouldn’t take chances.

 1224.

Always talk to a veterinarian or a pet nutritionist about the food that suits your pooch.

 1225.
These professionals will recommend food products based on a medical basis. You can also seek the advice of some Pitty owners, still, be careful of who advises you.

 1226.
You can join forums and groups of Pitty owners to get advice from fellow pawrents. Again, always practice caution with these internet sources as some aren’t always based on scientific evidence. Being a little bit more skeptical isn’t a bad thing after all.

 1227.
How to know if a dog food is best for senior Pitties?

 1228.
If you want a convenient way of changing your dog’s diet, the easiest choice is to buy commercial food. You have tons of options but always have meticulous eyes on the ingredients to prevent the same problem from happening. As a guide for the best canned food for senior dogs, here are some things to look for based on the American Kennel Club (AKC):

 1229.
➕Check the label

 1230.
A smart dog owner is the one who takes time to read the label. First, check where the food got its protein. Is it from meat by-products or real meat? Always avoid by-products as these are stripped of nutrients.

 1231.
It may take time to find the perfect food for your pet. Be patient enough and heed the advice of the veterinarian. Take note that you may have to transition your pet in several food products before you can finally land the best purchase.

 1232.
➕Look for “complete and balanced”

 1233.
The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) examines all dog food products to ensure that they are following the industry’s standards. Always look for products that have complete and balanced labels. This means that the AAFCO had checked the formula and deemed it suitable for specific breeds and age.

 1234.
A complete and balanced diet also helps reduce any form of stomach sensitivity of senior dogs. It also helps arrest nutrient deficiency.

 1235.
How about homemade meals

 1236.
If you’re used to preparing your dog’s meals, you can start addressing the problem by removing any seasoning on it. If the pooch’s condition got better, you can simply ditch any flavorings that upset its digestive system. However, the bland taste can be a challenge when it comes to finicky eaters.

 1237.

You can always ask the help of a veterinary nutritionist to come up with a formula that suits your Pitty. Somehow, homemade meals can be excellent for some dogs. However, this is time-consuming for busy owners.

 1238.
Take note, though, that no one commercial diet can be a fix for a sensitive stomach. If this is the case, you can always seek your vet-prescribed food. This is the common option for dogs with very delicate conditions.

 1239.
What to look for dog foods for senior Pitbulls

 1240.
If you’re planning to shop for the best food for senior dogs with sensitive stomachs, make sure that you look for the following characteristics:

 1241.
Limited ingredients. At this point in time of your dog’s life, limited ingredients are better than having dozens in one can. This will make allergy detection easier plus your dog will have an easier time digesting the food.

 1242.
Easy to digest ingredients. Old Pitbulls already have weak systems. It’s important that the ingredients of the food they’re eating are easy to break down. The likes of sweet potatoes, brown rice, and chicken are typically easy to digest.

 1243.
Zero “unwhole” grains. The likes of corn, wheat, and soy are problematic grains. It’s difficult to digest plus it’s also a common cause of allergies among Pitbulls. Always avoid these ingredients if possible.

 1244.
Bland formula. I know that you always want to serve yummy food for your pooch. However, the blander the composition is, the better it will be. For a senior dog, you’ll want to avoid any fillers, seasonings, and heavy mixes that can be too heavy on the stomach.

 1245.
Live cultures. Probiotics help in improving the digestive system of your dog. Having this on your senior Pitty’s meal will be an added perk.
