31.

Countless enterprises and individuals in India are striving to innovate in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. According to Fortune Business Insights, which specializes in market research, the EV market in India is projected to grow from $1.45 billion in 2021 to $113.99 billion by 2029.

 32.
Against this backdrop, Pune-based Ashnni Motors embarked on a mission to redefine electric two-wheelers. Recently, their vision received a boost with $244,000 in pre-seed funding from Mumbai’s WealthTrust Capital Services.

 33.
“We aim to transcend micro-mobility by addressing various market needs, particularly last-mile delivery,” explains Vishal Mali, co-founder of Ashnni Motors along with Subodh Karunasagar, their vision taking shape since 2017. “Our focus has been on designing robust vehicles capable of long-distance transportation and navigating rough terrains with high frequency.”

 34.

 35.
Operating from their factory in Chakan, inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in 2022, Ashnni Motors is set to deploy their initial fleet to waiting clients by August. Their journey at Pune’s Science and Technology Park incubator has been marked by efforts to integrate heavy-duty battery and powertrain systems with a lightweight, compact, and ergonomic vehicle chassis.

 36.
Their vehicle design emphasizes flexibility and modularity, allowing customization based on cargo requirements. Early adopters, such as long-distance milk distributors, have found practical utility in Ashnni’s offerings.

 37.

 38.
“Our vehicles, currently capable of carrying 220 kg of load, have been rigorously tested in Pune, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, beyond milk distribution,” Mali notes. The company is actively engaging with diverse market segments, addressing concerns about EV battery safety and vehicle reliability.

 39.
Ashnni Motors faces typical challenges of new EV manufacturers, particularly regulatory hurdles. By year-end, they aim to scale production to 400-500 vehicles annually, poised to meet evolving market demands.

 87.

Siddharth Bhardwaj and Mansoor Rahimat Khan embarked on creating an AI-powered tool for music composition with a clear goal: to simplify the process of generating original background music without the complexities of licensing. Bhardwaj, who co-founded Bengaluru-based Beatoven.ai with Khan in 2021, envisioned leveraging technology to address these challenges.

 88.
Bhardwaj, 31, has always been passionate about merging music with technology. After earning a master’s degree from Music Technology Group, UPF, Barcelona, Spain, following his graduation from IIIT-Allahabad, he gained valuable experience in startups focused on signal processing, deep learning, and music technology. His collaboration with Khan, a seventh-generation sitar player from the Dharwad gharana, was a natural progression towards founding their AI-centric company.

 89.

 90.
The primary aim of Beatoven.ai is to empower creators, especially those new to the field, by simplifying the creation of original, royalty-free background music for videos and podcasts. Their AI tool functions akin to a music director: users specify the desired duration, tempo, and genre, after which the AI analyzes its extensive database to propose five music options that align with the video or podcast theme. This allows creators to seamlessly integrate music into their projects without copyright concerns.

 91.
Behind the scenes, Beatoven.ai employs deep learning networks to process large datasets comprising samples from over 200 artists, resulting in a library of 50,000 music snippets. This approach ensures that the generated tracks are cohesive and professionally crafted. Bhardwaj emphasizes that their platform is tailored for instrumental background music rather than for musicians uploading their own sounds.

 92.
While AI in music composition shows promise for aiding freelancers in mixing, mastering, and generating ideas, Bhardwaj stresses that it cannot replace human creativity. He envisions a collaborative relationship between AI and artists, where AI serves as a tool for initial creation, leaving room for human curation and customization.

 93.

 94.
Beatoven.ai operates on a subscription-based model, with tiers ranging from $20 to $100 per month, catering primarily to over 28,000 users including a significant number of YouTubers and video game developers. Recognizing the immense demand in India for royalty-free music, Bhardwaj plans to expand their offerings to include Indian classical and regional music, enhancing their AI models to better serve these genres.

 95.
Looking ahead, Beatoven.ai aims to launch another AI tool that will analyze video content, interpret scene changes and mood, and recommend suitable music—an innovation expected to further enhance user experience and engagement.

 107.

At a recent startup conference I attended, two remarkable encounters underscored India’s burgeoning spirit of entrepreneurship. One encounter was with a grandmother in her early sixties from Meerut, who enthusiastically shared her journey of starting an online food delivery business specializing in “Awadhi chaat”. She expressed her ambition to scale her culinary venture globally. The other encounter was with a 14-year-old girl from Mangalore developing a “climate intelligence” app to aid farmers in preparing for extreme weather events. Together, these two individuals epitomized India’s diverse and vibrant entrepreneurial landscape.

 108.
The rise of entrepreneurship in India is not only impressing developed nations but also inspiring other developing countries to aim higher. Facilitated by increasing digitization, the barriers to entry for entrepreneurship in India have significantly decreased, contributing to India’s rise of nearly 80 ranks on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index. India now boasts the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, comprising over 70,000 startups, with a noteworthy portion based in non-metropolitan cities. Today’s youth in India are embracing a mindset of job creation rather than job seeking, preparing the nation for sustainable growth well into the future.

 109.

 110.
As the world’s largest democracy and fifth-largest economy with a median age below 30, India possesses the essential elements of ambition, skills, and capital necessary to nurture world-class companies across various sectors. The nation’s approach involves confronting challenges head-on with the vigor and creativity of its youthful population. Government initiatives such as Digital India and Startup India are pivotal in propelling India into the global arena of disruptors, aiming to provide equal opportunities for all to develop their talents.

 111.
India’s evolution from an agriculture and service-based economy to a knowledge-based and product economy marks a significant historical transition, driven by the convergence of education, technology, and innovation. The National Education Policy 2020 underscores the importance of critical thinking and problem-solving skills in preparing the next generation for the future workforce. Education, as a cornerstone of nation-building, is instrumental in fostering economic growth, social mobility, and individual autonomy across India’s diverse population.

 112.

 113.
Today, India embraces a “can-do” attitude, driven by the belief that anyone can succeed with the right choices and determination. As the nation enters what I see as an era of limitless possibilities, we must collectively strive to convert challenges into opportunities. This mindset is crucial in realizing India’s fullest potential and fulfilling Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of actively living one’s beliefs.

 114.
I am confident that before this century concludes, India will emerge as the world’s most powerful, happiest, and most generous nation. The stories of the entrepreneurial grandmother and teenager I encountered serve as poignant reminders of India’s boundless potential, where even a teacher’s son from a village can achieve dreams of impacting millions positively.
