Under its #DattaInfraCares campaign, the company extended support to eight national and state-level athletes from Rajkiya Ucch Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Gram Panchayat Kalasar, District Bikaner.

These students, who have made their mark in different sports disciplines, are now preparing to represent both Rajasthan and India at upcoming competitions. To help them in their journey, the company has not only sponsored their participation but has also provided much-needed sports equipment including sluggers, practice balls, softball nets and poles, match balls, and team training T-shirts.

Speaking about the initiative, the management team of Datta Power Infra said that the effort reflects the vision of their Managing Director, Mr. Gagal, who believes that empowering young talent from rural and semi-urban regions is vital for building an inclusive India.

This support is seen as a significant boost for sports development in Bikaner’s Kalasar region, where young athletes often struggle with limited infrastructure. Locals have welcomed the initiative, noting that such encouragement on Independence Day not only celebrates freedom but also brings new opportunities for the district’s youth.

Datta Power Infra’s initiative highlights how corporate support can strengthen grassroots talent in Rajasthan, ensuring that the state’s athletes continue to shine at national and international levels.

RBI keeps repo rate unchanged at 5.5% amid easing inflation, resilient growth

The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), in its 56th meeting held from August 4 to 6, 2025, decided to maintain the policy repo rate at 5.5%, reflecting a cautious yet balanced approach toward India’s growth-inflation dynamics. The decision, taken unanimously under the chairmanship of RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, aims to support domestic economic recovery while ensuring price stability.

Consequently, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) rate remains at 5.25%, while the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate are unchanged at 5.75%.

Inflation outlook turns more favourable

Headline CPI inflation dropped to a 77-month low of 2.1% year-on-year in June 2025 — driven by a sharp decline in food prices, especially vegetables, which even entered deflationary territory. Food inflation printed at -0.2% in June, marking the first negative reading since February 2019.

The RBI revised its FY26 inflation projection down to 3.1%, with Q2 at 2.1%, Q3 at 3.1%, and Q4 climbing to 4.4% — reflecting some upside risks in the latter part of the year due to base effects and demand-side pressures. CPI inflation for Q1 of FY27 is expected to rise further to 4.9%.

Despite this moderation, core inflation — which excludes food and fuel — inched up to 4.4% in June, partly due to rising gold prices. The MPC noted that while headline inflation appears under control, underlying price pressures in core categories warrant close monitoring.

Growth projections maintained at 6.5%

The MPC retained its forecast for real GDP growth at 6.5% for FY26, with quarterly projections as follows:

Q1: 6.5%

Q2: 6.7%

Q3: 6.6%

Q4: 6.3%

Growth is being supported by strong rural demand, buoyant government capital expenditure, and the resilient services and construction sectors. A favourable southwest monsoon and rising capacity utilisation have also reinforced momentum. However, the industrial sector remains uneven, dragged by weak performance in electricity and mining.

The central bank flagged uncertainties from global trade negotiations, tariffs, and geopolitical tensions as key downside risks to the external demand outlook.

Rationale for pause

The MPC highlighted that the recent softening in inflation was largely due to volatile food prices, cautioning that inflation is expected to edge above the 4% mark by Q4. Core inflation trends, coupled with evolving external headwinds, suggest that a pause is prudent for now.

Additionally, the MPC noted that the full impact of the 100 basis points of rate cuts since February 2025 is still playing out. With monetary transmission ongoing, the committee chose to wait and watch.

“On balance, the current macroeconomic conditions, outlook and uncertainties call for continuation of the policy repo rate at 5.5% and wait for further transmission,” the committee said in its official resolution.

The MPC has decided to retain its “neutral” stance, reiterating its commitment to act as warranted by incoming data. The minutes of this meeting will be released on August 20, 2025.

The next MPC meeting is scheduled from September 29 to October 1, 2025.

KPI Green Energy gets provisional CRISIL AA+ (CE) rating for Rs 700 crore green bonds on August 6

KPI Green Energy Limited has announced that CRISIL Ratings has assigned a Provisional CRISIL AA+ (CE) / Stable rating to its proposed issuance of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs), labelled as “Green Bonds”, aggregating up to ₹700 crore.

In a regulatory filing dated August 6, 2025, the company informed the

Business

Staff Reporter

KPI Green Energy Limited has announced that CRISIL Ratings has assigned a Provisional CRISIL AA+ (CE) / Stable rating to its proposed issuance of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs), labelled as “Green Bonds”, aggregating up to ₹700 crore.

In a regulatory filing dated August 6, 2025, the company informed the exchanges that this rating reflects CRISIL’s assessment of the strength of specific structures tied to the debentures, contingent on the occurrence or execution of certain actions or documents by the issuer.

The NCDs are proposed to be listed under the symbol KPIGREEN (Scrip Code: 542323), and the rating has been given in accordance with SEBI’s regulations on disclosure for provisional ratings by credit agencies.

The rating rationale letter, dated August 5, 2025, has been issued by CRISIL and annexed with the filing.

The update was signed by Moh. In her post, she wrote, “Aaj mera Naamkaran ho raha hai… and no, I'm not even joking 😁.”

The story, written in a casual yet striking tone, quickly caught the attention of fans and followers who are now speculating about what the actress meant. The term “Naamkaran” traditionally refers to a naming ceremony, often associated with newborns or symbolic new beginnings. Given the directness of her statement and the added “not even joking” line, many are taking it at face value — assuming she may be adopting a new name, either legally or professionally.

However, in the absence of any further clarification from Warina herself, the post has also led to speculation that it might be related to an upcoming film or project. Actors frequently use creative teases to build anticipation around character reveals or promotional campaigns, and this could very well be one such case.

Warina, who made her Bollywood debut in Loveyatri (2018), has since appeared in various film and music projects, earning a steady fan following. Whether this Naamkaran marks a personal transformation or a professional announcement remains to be seen.

For now, fans are left guessing — is Warina reintroducing herself to the world with a new identity, or simply stepping into a new character onscreen?

Stay tuned as more details emerge.

Top brokerages on stocks today, August 6: Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports, Britannia, DLF, Gland Pharma & more in focus

Leading brokerages have issued fresh views on select Indian stocks following Q1 results and recent developments. Chasing 134 for victory, the hosts managed to cross the line on the final ball of the match, with Jason Holder emerging as the hero of the night for his all-round brilliance.

Holder shines on both ends of the innings

Jason Holder delivered a standout performance that earned him the Player of the Match award. With the ball, he claimed 4 wickets for just 19 runs in his 4-over spell, stifling Pakistan’s batting momentum in the first innings. He then returned with the bat under pressure and struck a vital 16 off just 10 balls, including the winning boundary off the last ball.

Pakistan, after being put in to bat, managed to score 133/9 in their 20 overs. While the top order crumbled early, Salman Agha (38 off 33) and Hasan Nawaz (40 off 23) injected life into the innings. However, Holder’s double strike in the middle overs ensured Pakistan never found fluency. Shamar Joseph and Akeal Hosein supported well, picking up one wicket each.

West Indies stutter but sneak home

The chase wasn’t easy for West Indies. They lost wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 98 for 7 at one stage. Gudakesh Motie played a crucial hand, scoring 28 off 20 to bring the game back on track. But it was Jason Holder’s calm under pressure that made the difference. He walked in with 37 needed off 26 balls and kept the scoreboard ticking with sensible batting.

The climax came down to the last over, with West Indies needing 9 runs. Shaheen Afridi, entrusted with the final over, conceded a few singles and wides before Holder unleashed a boundary off the final ball to seal the game.

Pakistan's spin trio impresses

Pakistan’s bowling was spearheaded by Mohammad Nawaz, who picked 3 wickets for just 14 runs in his 4 overs. Its light, crisp structure is achieved through a signature pouring method that creates web-like layers: a thin batter is poured over hot ghee in circular streams, forming a lacework of golden crispness. Once fried, the cake is soaked in sweet syrup and garnished with saffron, cardamom, and finely chopped nuts like almonds and pistachios.
It is deeply associated with the monsoon festivals of Teej and Raksha Bandhan, and holds ceremonial significance in traditions like Chhapan Bhog.

The Royal Roots of Ghevar

A Culinary Invention from Rajasthan

Though there’s debate over its exact birthplace, most food historians credit Rajasthan’s royal kitchens—especially in Jaipur and Marwar—with creating Ghevar centuries ago as an ornate dessert for Maharajas and nobles.

Why Monsoon Matters

It may sound counterintuitive, but Ghevar owes its crisp honeycomb structure to the moisture in the Shravan monsoon season. The ambient humidity helps the batter crisp up into the characteristic porous texture. For this reason, Ghevar is traditionally made only in July–August during the Teej-Raksha Bandhan window.

From Royal Courts to Village Sweets

Over time, what began as an exclusive culinary art transformed into a household staple in Rajasthan and neighbouring states—Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat, UP, and MP—with sweet shops churning out kilograms every monsoon.

Why Ghevar is so important in festivals

Teej and Raksha Bandhan: Ghevar’s Signature Moment

During Hariyali Teej and Raksha Bandhan, homemade and shop-bought Ghevar floods festival tables across North India. For sisters celebrating the bond with their brothers, gifting Ghevar has become a symbolic tradition.

Symbolic Shape, Symbolic Emotions

The circular form of Ghevar—without any beginning or end—is often taken to represent eternal relationships, while the layered structure mirrors the complex dynamics of familial bonds.

It’s Part of Religious Traditions

Ghevar even features in temple food traditions: for instance, as one of the Chhapan Bhog (56 offerings) to Lord Krishna at certain Vaishnava temples and during Gangaur celebrations.

Popular Variants of Ghevar

It was a bold disruption—a calculated move to reshape how cinema reaches Indian audiences in a digital-first world.

The idea seems deceptively simple: offer the film directly to viewers on his YouTube channel Aamir Khan Talkies, asking them to pay ₹100 for a single viewing, similar to a theatre experience. But behind this simplicity lies a deep strategy, one that challenges the hegemony of OTT platforms and hints at the future of creator-led digital cinema.

The Creator's Gamble

Aamir Khan reportedly turned down lucrative OTT offers—some estimated to be upwards of ₹125 crore—in favor of a self-controlled digital release. The logic? Independence. “This is janta ka theatre,” Aamir remarked in one of his interviews, positioning this model as a way to give control back to both the audience and the creators.

OTT platforms, for all their reach and budgets, come with caveats: limited transparency, content bundling, platform algorithm dependency, and significant revenue sharing. By sidestepping these platforms, Khan ensures complete ownership—not just of profits, but of how the film is marketed, accessed, and experienced.

A Theatre Inside Your Screen

Sitaare Zameen Par is being offered to users at a one-time cost of ₹100. Once paid, the viewer gets access to watch the film within a 48-hour window—mirroring the theatrical model, but without the physical constraints. This isn’t a subscription. It’s not bundled with thousands of other titles. It’s a deliberate, stand-alone event.

In a way, this model revives the long-forgotten TVOD (Transactional Video On Demand) structure, where consumers pay for individual titles instead of committing to a monthly plan. For a country like India, where streaming penetration is still largely urban-centric and many Tier 2 and Tier 3 users lack OTT access or interest, YouTube remains king. A ₹100 one-time price point, accessible through a widely available platform like YouTube, is not just affordable—it’s inclusive.

Why YouTube?

India has over 490 million monthly active YouTube users. OTT subscriptions, by contrast, cater to a much smaller, mostly urban audience. With mobile-first access, YouTube lets Sitaare Zameen Par reach families who don’t frequent theatres and don’t pay for digital subscriptions.

Beyond reach, there’s a stronger case for control. Releasing the film through YouTube Pay-Per-View means no licensing deals, no delay in revenue flow, and full access to audience analytics. In an era where data is the new currency, this shift could mean better targeting and better future content planning.

Filmmakers like Hansal Mehta have hailed Aamir’s move as “smart and creator-friendly,” suggesting this model could inspire other independent storytellers to take similar leaps.

Fighting Piracy, Innovating Access

One of the biggest challenges faced by any theatrical or digital release today is piracy. Aamir Khan’s team has proactively hired anti-piracy experts and implemented watermarking and digital tracking technologies to combat illegal distribution.

At the same time, the low ₹100 entry point reduces the financial incentive to seek out pirated versions. It’s a double strike—make it easy to access legally, and hard to steal illegally.

Economics of Control

Let’s talk money. On OTT, filmmakers typically give up a significant chunk of earnings to the platform—sometimes over 50%. In this model, almost every rupee goes to the creator after platform fees. That changes the economics of digital cinema. It also means more transparency in performance metrics.

And there's brand building. This release turns Aamir Khan Talkies into more than a production house—it becomes a digital cinema hub. Aamir is reportedly planning to release his classics (Lagaan, Peepli Live, Taare Zameen Par) via the same platform. Over time, this YouTube channel may become a premium cinema destination in its own right.

What This Means for the Industry

The release of Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube has sparked debate. Will other big-budget films adopt this route? Will OTT platforms respond by revising their creator deals? Will more filmmakers opt to control their own releases?

The move also opens doors for regional cinema. A director in Kerala or Assam may not get a Netflix slot, but could use the same pay-per-view model to reach diasporic or regional audiences across India and beyond. For the first time, digital distribution feels democratic.

Of course, risks remain. There’s no guaranteed viewer base. There’s no marketing push from a streaming giant. Piracy is always a threat. And there’s still a behavioural shift required for Indian viewers to pay for individual digital titles.

But if there’s one star in India who’s known for starting conversations and challenging norms, it’s Aamir Khan. With Sitaare Zameen Par, he’s not just telling a story. He’s experimenting with a system.

One that might just redefine the economics of Bollywood.

Disclaimer: This article is based on publicly available media reports and commentary. Ben Duckett remained unbeaten on 34 off 48 balls, having survived a few close moments late in the day. The hosts had made a breezy start, but Siraj’s pinpoint yorker—off the penultimate delivery of the day—clean bowled Crawley and brought India right back into the contest.

India’s second innings: A display of grit and counterattack

Resuming Day 3 at 218/7, India added a further 178 runs to post 396 in their second innings, thanks to vital contributions from the lower order. The star of the innings was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who followed up his gritty start from Day 2 with a classy 118 off 164 balls, including 14 boundaries. It was his sixth Test century and his fourth against England—underlining his growing stature as a dependable opener.

Akash Deep, playing just his second Test, showed composure beyond his experience as he scored a fluent 66, peppered with 12 boundaries. He brought up his maiden Test fifty, capitalizing on a dropped chance early in the day. His counterattacking approach helped India wrest back control and pushed the lead towards a psychological milestone.

Ravindra Jadeja (53), Washington Sundar (53), and Dhruv Jurel (34) also chipped in with valuable runs, taking India’s total to 396 and setting England a formidable target of 374.

The English bowlers toiled for wickets with Josh Tongue (5/125) being the pick of the lot, claiming his second five-wicket haul of the series. Gus Atkinson supported well with 3/127, but the visitors’ lower order resilience hurt England’s hopes of a quick finish.

England’s first innings: A brief fightback

England had earlier posted 247 all out in response to India’s 224 in the first innings, gaining a slender 23-run lead. Zak Crawley (64), Harry Brook (53), and Ben Duckett (43) were the notable contributors. However, they failed to convert their starts into big hundreds.

India’s pace trio of Siraj (4/86), Akash Deep (1/80), and Prasidh Krishna (4/62) shared the wickets, keeping England in check despite an attacking approach. The Indian bowlers were relentless with their line and length, exposing England’s middle and lower order under pressure.

India’s first innings: A shaky start

Batting first, India were bowled out for 224 in 69.4 overs, with Karun Nair (57), Sai Sudharsan (38), and Washington Sundar (26) being the top scorers. The pitch offered seam movement early on, and the English bowlers exploited the conditions well.

Gus Atkinson starred with the ball, claiming 5/33 in a brilliant display of control and pace. Josh Tongue (2/57) and Chris Woakes (1/46) also played their roles effectively, dismantling India’s top order. The visitors failed to string together any significant partnerships, handing England an early advantage.

England’s chase begins, but India strike late

Set a target of 374, England’s openers looked assured in the early overs. Duckett played fluently, driving and cutting anything loose, while Crawley looked set to repeat his first innings success. India surprisingly opened the bowling with Prasidh Krishna, keeping Siraj in reserve, and the new-ball spell was tight but didn’t yield early wickets.

Just when it looked like England would head into Day 4 unscathed, Siraj returned to deliver a hammer blow. His deadly yorker off the penultimate ball of the day castled Crawley, breaking a budding 50-run stand and reigniting India’s hopes.

With England needing 324 runs and India needing 9 wickets, the match is finely balanced heading into Day 4. A lot will depend on how Duckett and the rest of the English top order tackle India’s pace attack under pressure.

The scenario ahead

India have all the momentum going into Day 4, especially after that late wicket. The pitch has flattened out but is still offering occasional bounce and seam movement. With over 300 runs to defend and a potent pace attack at their disposal, India will look to push for a series-leveling win.

For England, the challenge lies in batting time. A lot will depend on how their middle order — including Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Jamie Smith — handle the sustained pressure of a fourth-innings chase.

Score summary at Stumps Day 3:

India 1st innings: 224 all out (Karun Nair 57, Gus Atkinson 5/33)
England 1st innings: 247 all out (Zak Crawley 64, Siraj 4/86, Prasidh 4/62)
India 2nd innings: 396 all out (Jaiswal 118, Akash Deep 66, Jadeja 53, Tongue 5/125)
England 2nd innings: 50/1 in 13.5 overs (Duckett 34*, Siraj 1/11)
Target for England: 374

India may well feel they’re ahead at the end of Day 3, but the battle is far from over. However, the latest update brings relief for fans: if there is no further rain, play is scheduled to resume at 7:30 PM IST (3:00 PM local time).

Before the interruption, India had reached 72/2 in 23 overs, after being put in to bat by England. Sai Sudharsan (25)* and Shubman Gill (15)* were unbeaten at the crease, stabilising the innings after early setbacks. Yashasvi Jaiswal (2) was dismissed LBW by Gus Atkinson, and KL Rahul (14) was bowled by Chris Woakes.

Despite overcast conditions and a grassy surface, India managed a decent start, with Gill playing fluently and Sudharsan showing grit on debut. The partnership looked promising before the skies opened up during lunch.

As per updates from the ground, the rain has stopped, all covers have been removed, and the outfield is drying up under the sun. A fair amount of water had settled on the pitch covers, but ground staff have worked swiftly to prepare the surface. Umpires conducted multiple inspections and have now scheduled the resumption for 3:00 PM local time (7:30 PM IST), provided weather conditions remain stable.

Commentators noted that "India had a pretty good time with the bat despite the grass on the pitch and the overheads, but it will be interesting to see them bat again as the pitch would have soaked in a fair bit of moisture from the rain that took everyone by surprise."

With the pitch potentially offering fresh movement post-rain, the restart will be crucial for both teams. England’s bowlers — especially Woakes (1/28) and Atkinson (1/7) — will aim to capitalise, while India will hope the Gill-Sudharsan duo can build a solid platform.

‘Saiyaara’ collects Rs 10.50 crore on second Wednesday, nears Rs 285 crore India total

Romantic drama Saiyaara is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. As of mid-day on July 31, the Nifty 50 and Sensex were trading lower, while broader market sentiment was also cautious.

The weakness follows a confluence of global macro pressures, geopolitical developments, and earnings volatility across sectors. Investors are evaluating the implications of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff announcement and its expected impact on India’s trade-sensitive sectors, while tracking company-specific performance from the latest Q1FY26 results.

Key reasons behind market weakness on July 31

1. Tariff uncertainty and U.S.-India trade tensions

One of the dominant themes affecting market sentiment is the announcement by Donald Trump of a 25% tariff on Indian goods, raising concerns over the impact on exports across several industries. The lack of clarity on product-specific exemptions, especially for pharmaceuticals and IT, has added to investor unease.

According to CLSA, the move could call into question India's position as a global safe haven, especially amid its balancing act between the U.S. and Russia. Sectors such as electronics exports, energy, and pharma have been highlighted as vulnerable under the tariff-plus-penalty scenario. CLSA also warned that FII flows may decline due to the increased geopolitical complexity and that India's refining margins could be impacted by supply disruptions stemming from constrained Russian crude flows.

Elara Securities noted that India’s GDP growth could face a 30 basis points impact if no trade agreement is reached. Sectors mentioned include auto ancillaries, gems and jewellery, industrial machinery, and pharma. At the same time, some companies in the IT sector could benefit from currency depreciation.

Nuvama said that while India’s goods exports to the U.S. may be affected, the impact is small relative to GDP and could be cushioned by re-routing exports. The brokerage highlighted that INR weakness may help limit the effect of tariffs.

2. Corporate earnings: mixed Q1 performance

Several companies have reported Q1FY26 earnings over the past 48 hours. The market has responded strongly to earnings that either exceeded or missed expectations. Companies that beat estimates on margins and profits saw investor interest, while those missing consensus saw corrective reactions.

Stocks in focus on July 31

Brokerage Views

Navin Fluorine (CITI): CITI maintained a Sell rating on Navin Fluorine with a target of ₹4,750. While many leading female actors range between about 5 ft 6 in and 5 ft 10 in, those officially exceeding six feet remain extraordinarily rare. This article delves into the history, known examples, industry dynamics, and cultural significance of actresses in Hindi cinema standing at or above six feet tall.

Who towers above six feet: Yukta Mookhey

Among Bollywood actresses, Yukta Mookhey, crowned Miss World in 1999, is the only one officially recorded as standing near or above 6 ft. Numerous reliable sources list her height as 5 ft 11 in (180 cm), which effectively places her over the six-foot mark (often rounded) in modelling metrics and media commentary. She is widely acknowledged as the tallest actress in Bollywood history. Although born in Mulund, Mumbai, and active between 1999 and the early 2000s in films and pageants, her height has remained a standout attribute.

Despite her brief film career — with some titles shelved or unsuccessful — her physical presence remains unmatched in mainstream Hindi cinema. Her height is repeatedly identified in industry lists and fan forums as unique and rare.

Actresses often described as exceptionally tall (but under six feet)

Several leading ladies are frequently hailed as very tall by Bollywood norms, though none officially exceed six feet.

Deepika Padukone

One of India’s highest-paid actresses, Deepika Padukone is commonly listed at 5 ft 9 in and in heels often appears well above six feet during public events. Lists of tall Bollywood actresses routinely include her among the top five by stature.

Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon is often the subject of online debate over her height. Commentators estimate her at around 5 ft 10 in, with some claiming she appears as tall as six feet when beside shorter co-actors. Reddit discussions frequently cite her as “almost 5 ft 11 in,” though official metrics place her slightly below. Anecdotes suggest she is taller than many male actors she has worked with, reinforcing her perception as towering.

Sonam Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Bipasha Basu, Anushka Sharma, Diana Penty

These well-known actresses also fall in the taller half of the height spectrum, typically around 5 ft 8 in to 5 ft 10 in. In industries that favour taller physiques, they are often highlighted for their statuesque appearance. However, none exceed the six-foot threshold officially, and height listings consistently place them below that mark.

Why is exceeding six feet so rare in Bollywood?

Cultural and casting preferences

Bollywood’s casting traditions have long favoured height pairing between male and female stars. Male lead heights usually span 5 ft 9 in to 6 ft 1 in, and too tall an actress could disrupt visual chemistry. Consequently, directors and costume designers often prefer actresses within a more conventional range. Exceeding six feet in height can limit opportunities if paired with shorter male leads.

Observational and reporting inconsistencies

Media and fan reporting on celebrity heights is inconsistent. Many tall actresses are described as “six feet” colloquially based on appearance in heels or alongside shorter co-actors. Yet reliable, documented metrics establish that those rarely cross the official line beyond 5 ft 11 in, with Yukta Mookhey the sole exception.

Evolving perceptions and growing acceptance

While exceptional height for actresses remains rare, industry attitudes are changing. Actresses like Deepika, Kriti, Sonam, and Diana have built illustrious careers without height being a hindrance. Their success highlights a shift towards valuing commanding screen presence and talent over adherence to traditional physical norms.

Fashion shoots, music videos and brand endorsements have welcomed taller women, making height less a barrier and more a distinctive advantage.

Comparative heights of prominent tall actresses

While SIP helps investors accumulate wealth by investing regularly, SWP allows investors to withdraw money systematically while keeping their investments active.

Both strategies serve different financial objectives, and choosing the right one depends on an investor’s needs, risk appetite, and financial goals. This article explains the differences between SIP and SWP, their advantages, disadvantages, and which one offers better returns.

This information is accurate as of 16/02/2024. Investors should check for any policy updates before making investment decisions.

1. What is SIP (Systematic Investment Plan)?

SIP is a method of investing in mutual funds where investors contribute a fixed amount at regular intervals (monthly, quarterly, or annually). It helps in long-term wealth creation through disciplined investing and rupee cost averaging.

Advantages of SIP

Rupee Cost Averaging: SIP investors buy more units when markets are low and fewer units when markets are high, reducing the average purchase cost.

Compounding Benefits: Small investments grow significantly over time due to the power of compounding.

Eliminates Market Timing Risk: Since investments happen regularly, SIP reduces the risk of investing at the wrong time.

Flexible and Affordable: Investors can start with as little as 500 rupees per month, making it suitable for all income groups.

Best for Long-Term Goals: Ideal for retirement planning, child education, or wealth creation over 10+ years.

Disadvantages of SIP

Slower Growth in a Bull Market: If markets are consistently rising, lump sum investments may perform better than SIP.

Fixed Contribution Requirement: Investors must continue investing regularly, which may not always be convenient.

2. What is SWP (Systematic Withdrawal Plan)?

SWP is a method of withdrawing a fixed amount from a mutual fund investment at regular intervals while keeping the remaining capital invested. It is commonly used for retirement income or passive cash flow generation.

Advantages of SWP

Regular Income: Ideal for retirees or individuals needing a steady cash flow without redeeming their entire investment.

Tax Efficiency: Compared to fixed deposits, SWP withdrawals are more tax-efficient, as only capital gains are taxed, not the entire withdrawal amount.

Market-Linked Growth: The remaining investment continues to grow and generate returns even after withdrawals.

Customizable Withdrawals: Investors can set monthly, quarterly, or annual withdrawal amounts as per their needs.

Disadvantages of SWP

Market Risk: If markets decline, withdrawals may reduce the remaining investment faster.

Depleting Capital: If withdrawal amounts are high and returns are low, the investment corpus may not last long.

Not Suitable for Short-Term Gains: Works best for long-term cash flow planning, not short-term profits.

3.
