In Word, you can use various styles of lines to accomplish this. Lines can improve the readability of your documents, as well as accentuate certain sections of your text. They can also be used to separate text and images.</p><p>One of the quickest ways to add a line to your document is using the AutoFormat feature in Word. This feature automatically types lines for you as you type. However, it can be a bit annoying. Fortunately, there are also several other methods to create a line in Word.</p><p>You can also use the Borders button in Word’s “Home” tab. You can customize the size and shape of the line, and you can change its color. As you click on the shape, you will see a little crosshair indicating its end position.</p><p>When you have finished putting together your line, you can use the Paragraph tab to add more. This tab will also help you add columns, align paragraphs, and adjust the spacing between them. Using the Tabs feature, you can create empty lines, and you can even put bar tabs at the end of your paragraphs to demarcate them into columns.</p><p>Unlike horizontal lines, adding a vertical line to a document is not as intuitive. It requires more work than it does for a horizontal line. However, it’s still a fairly simple task.</p><p>For a more sophisticated approach to a line, you can use the Shape Format tab. Here, you can choose to create a line with a wavy or a dotted shape. For example, you can format a number or string to a number, date, date/time, text, or a mixture of those. While you’re at it, you can also change the formatting of multiple cells. These formatting changes may affect a single row, column, or entire workbook.</p><p>Excel’s autocorrect feature can be disabled by clicking on the “AutoCorrect Options” window. Another way to prevent Excel from changing numbers to dates is to use an apostrophe in a cell.
