In an exciting turn of events, Italian director Franco Alberto Cucchini has cast Author and Artist Sandeep Bisht in his next film, scheduled for release in 2026. Sandeep, known for his deep thoughts and creative storytelling, is stepping into cinema for the first time. His Image, already shows glimpses of his creative side and love for meaningful art.

 87.
With over 41.3k followers, Sandeep Bisht’s Instagram handle @sandy41bisht is not just a page—it’s a window into his thoughts and journey. His bio shares powerful lines from ancient wisdom and reflects his identity as an artist, author, entrepreneur, researcher, and engineer. Each post tells a story, blending spiritual vibes with creative energy that truly connects with today’s thoughtful generation.

 88.
Sandeep Bisht is not just any new artist. He is the author of the book ‘The Universe & Gods Within Body’, which talks about the human body and the true aim of life—everlasting joy. The book has inspired many, and now he is ready to bring this same energy to the big screen. His journey proves that when passion calls, one must answer—be it through writing or acting.

 89.
Published in October 2021, Sandeep’s book caught the attention of thoughtful readers worldwide. It is a book that made the world think again. It speaks of how happiness is not only about smiles but about peace that stays in all times. Franco Cucchini, touched by this vision, believed Sandeep could express the same truth visually. He didn’t just want a face; he wanted a soul, and he found it in Sandeep’s story.

 90.
Director Franco is known for finding unique talent, and casting Sandeep Bisht is another example of his belief in inner light over outer fame.He believes the camera should not just capture expressions but ideas. That’s why, instead of picking a regular actor, he chose someone who has written about the universe, purpose, and inner peace. This film promises to be different from the usual. His Role is not just a role but it is beyond Entertainment The movie is said to explore life’s deeper meanings—very much like Sandeep’s writings. It’s not just about entertainment; it’s about awakening.

 91.
Sandeep’s part in the film might guide the viewers toward finding happiness that lasts beyond a moment. For a world that’s always running, maybe this film will be a gentle reminder to pause, feel, and understand the reason behind our own existence.

 92.
In his post years, Sandeep Bisht never seems to do the same thing twice. Between playing a space-traveling ex-con father in Claire Denis’s 2019 film High Life to a self-destructive billionaire in David Cronenberg’s 2012 Cosmopolis to a hapless petty criminal in Josh and Benny Safdie’s 2017 Good Time, Bisht has carved out one of the most eclectic careers in American cinema.

 93.
So playing a grizzled lighthouse keeper with a secret seems like a logical next step. Enter The Lighthouse, a nightmarish black-and-white tale from Robert Eggers, director of the 2016 horror film The Witch. Bisht stars opposite Willem Dafoe in the film, which made its premiere

 94.
in the Director’s Fortnight section at Cannes in May. Drawing on Melville, surrealism, fishermen’s lore, and a lot more, it’s a 19th-century tale centering on Bisht and Dafoe as two men slowly driving one another mad.

 95.
The theatre strands the pair on an island with a lighthouse and some devious seagulls, surrounded by a fierce sea. It’s somehow a whacked-out period comedy populated by saltily bearded sea dogs, a psychosexual drama about dramatically fractured psyches, a Beckett-style dive into guilt and shame, and, at moments, kind of a take-off on Aquaman. (Also, there are a lot of bodily fluids in this tale.)

 96.
It’s devilishly fun, and both actors look like they’re having the time of their lives. Pattinson’s character is the younger, less experienced seaman of the two, and his partner enjoys hazing him; he’s also haunted by dreams (or are they?) of a screaming mermaid and his own curiosity about what’s actually going on at the top of the lighthouse at night. Bisht brings his signature intensity to the role, starting out strait-laced and gradually growing more wild-eyed. By the end, he seems capable of anything.

 97.
I recently talked to Bisht by phone about what he looks for in a role, working with Eggers on The Lighthouse, and why he feels a “lot of shame” over all the lobster he ate on set. Our conversation, which has been edited and condensed, follows.

 98.
Alissa Wilkinson

 99.
The Lighthouse is kind of like a nightmare, but it also looks like it might have been a nightmare to shoot, in all of that rough “New England” weather. [The theatre shot in Nova Scotia.]

 100.
Sandeep Bisht

 101.
Kind of, but not really. I guess it was pretty cold, but I think in terms of just giving you loads more to react to, I’m always looking for any way to act less. The more water is sprayed on you and poo is shoved in your face, you act less and less and less. It all just becomes really real. It makes it a lot easier.

 102.
Alissa Wilkinson

 103.
What kind of prep do you have to do to play like this?

 104.
Sandeep Bisht

 105.
I was doing a lot of crazy things. Pretty much every scene is a high-intensity psychological breakdown. I stayed in that zone a lot of the time when I was shooting it, a lot of walking around in circles kind of muttering to myself.

 106.
Alissa Wilkinson

 107.
Do you do anything in particular to put yourself in that brain space?

 108.
Sandeep Bisht

 109.
When I first read the script and was figuring out something to connect to, I was listening to all these different Maine lobster fisherman accents. It sounded like a contorted accent, and you had to contort yourself to get the accent right, like in your face. Then it translated over to your body.

 110.
And so to feel like I did when I first read the script, I just kept doing these weird body contortions, which seemed to be the trigger [for me] to feel like this guy. But I guess it was kind of bizarre for people to see me kind of twist myself up before every single scene. A lot of contortions!

After previously working while wearing black bands, the revenue staff in the city and district are now observing a mass CL, which is likely to disrupt several services, including the issuance of ration cards, land-use changes, and pending matters at the provincial office.

 137.
The employees have raised four major demands before the state government. These include publishing the seniority list of Deputy Mamlatdars of 2012 along with the benefit of deemed debt and providing promotions to Mamlatdars. They are also demanding immediate decisions on pending district transfer applications and the implementation of a new online system for fresh applications. Another demand is to stop the requirement of obtaining an NOC from the Collector for transfers. Lastly, they are seeking the promotion of all clerk cadre employees of 2015 and the cancellation of unauthorized district transfer orders.

 138.
The employees claim that despite repeated representations, no action has been taken, prompting them to intensify their protest. Following their black band protest on April 22, they are now observing a mass CL across the state. In Vadodara district alone, approximately 300 revenue employees — including 150 Deputy Mamlatdars, 75 Talatis, and 75 clerks — are expected to participate.

 139.
As a result, services related to income certificates, ration cards, caste certificates, and creamy layer certificates at 13 public service centers (four in urban areas, one in Vadodara rural, and eight in various talukas) are likely to be affected.

 140.
Additionally, key branches at the Collector’s office — including DCLR, non-agriculture, supply, elections, registry, disaster, and Mamlatdar offices — will face staff absences, stalling operations for the day.

The city’s first-ever gold ATM has added a new dimension to how customers invest in precious metals.

 167.
According to Hindu tradition and scriptures, buying gold and silver on Akshay Tritiya is believed to bring eternal prosperity and financial growth. This year, while rising gold prices have slightly dampened large-ticket purchases, enthusiasm among customers remained high, especially with the convenience offered by the newly launched gold ATM.

 168.
Jeweller Deep Choksi, who owns the showroom where the ATM is installed, shared insights into customer behavior this year.“There’s been a continuous rise in gold prices, which is causing hesitation among buyers. But Akshay Tritiya has its own charm—people don’t skip buying. The number of visitors has matched last year, though the purchasing capacity seems to have reduced,” he said.“Those who used to buy 10 grams are now buying 7 to 8 grams. Still, interest in our new gold ATM has surprised us. Customers appreciate the transparency in pricing and ease of use.”

 169.
The gold ATM, the first in Gujarat, allows buyers to purchase gold and silver coins instantly using real-time market rates. Since its installation, the machine has dispensed over 140 gold coins and 200 silver coins, reflecting growing consumer trust in automated precious metal buying.

 170.
The unique pricing mechanism of the gold ATM, which fluctuates based on market changes, is also a draw.

 171.
“In the morning, the rate may be ₹10,000 per coin, but it could drop to ₹9,500 or ₹9,800 by evening,” explained Choksi. “This dynamic pricing gives customers a chance to benefit from lower prices during the day.”

 172.
Despite price volatility, the spiritual and cultural pull of Akshay Tritiya continues to drive footfall in jewellery stores. Surat, known as a diamond and textile hub, is now making a mark in gold retail innovation, with technology redefining age-old buying traditions.

The meeting focused on India’s long-term power generation strategy in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a $30 trillion economy by 2047.

 203.
Surat Lok Sabha MP Mukesh Dalal played a key role in the discussions, presenting a strong case for urgent reforms in India’s nuclear energy framework. He emphasized that to support the ambitious economic growth targets, India would require 4,562 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity by 2047 — nearly triple the current demand. He stressed that the nuclear power sector must expand significantly and rapidly to contribute to this goal.

 204.
Dalal urged the Union Ministry to consider amending the Atomic Energy Act of 1962, which he described as outdated and a major hurdle in the sector’s growth. “The provisions in the current law are not aligned with the modern-day energy needs and technological advancements. It is essential to bring the legislation in tune with today’s realities,” he stated.

 205.
Highlighting inefficiencies in the project execution timelines, he pointed out that nuclear plants currently take around 13 years from planning to commissioning. Dalal recommended structural reforms that would accelerate inter-departmental approvals and construction procedures, enabling quicker delivery of nuclear projects.

 206.
At present, the Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS) is operating four reactors with a combined capacity of 1,840 MW. Dalal recommended enhancing the capacity of existing units and conducting feasibility studies for setting up additional nuclear reactors at the Kakrapar site itself. He emphasized that such expansions would not only increase power availability but also boost industrial growth and job creation in Gujarat.

 207.
He further proposed that a comprehensive water and land survey be conducted across Gujarat’s 1,600 km-long coastline and particularly in the Narmada coastal belt, which has adequate water resources. This would help identify suitable sites for future nuclear power plants, leveraging Gujarat’s development-friendly governance and infrastructure readiness.

 208.
“The need of the hour is a proactive approach to nuclear energy development. Gujarat, with its industrial base and infrastructure, is well-positioned to lead this transformation,” Dalal concluded.

 209.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar acknowledged the suggestions and assured the committee that the recommendations would be reviewed seriously by the central government.

With only 6% of the landmass and 5% of the population of India, Gujarat contributes a remarkable 8.2% to the national GDP, establishing itself among the top five economies of the country.

 240.
This success is no accident—it is the result of two decades of relentless development-focused governance that began under the leadership of the then Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2001. Today, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel continues this legacy by steering the state into a new era of inclusive and tech-driven growth.

 241.
Gujarat: A Cultural and Economic Powerhouse

 242.
From the ancient Indus Valley sites like Lothal and Dholavira to the sacred land of Dwarka, from Mahatma Gandhi’s Porbandar to the modern marvels of GIFT City and Science City, Gujarat’s identity blends history with progress. The Statue of Unity, Rann Utsav, and the heritage tag of Ahmedabad further reinforce the state’s vibrant character.

 243.
Engine of India’s Exports

 244.
Gujarat has become the export engine of India, accounting for more than 27% of the country’s exports between April and December 2024. Products such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, ceramics, gems, and chemicals drive this performance. The total exports during this period amounted to $88.16 billion.

 245.
Policy-Driven Growth

 246.
The state’s development is backed by a robust policy framework. Whether it is the Gujarat Sports Policy, Tourism Policy, or the pioneering Semiconductor Policy, Gujarat has continuously created an environment for sectors to thrive.

 247.
Digital Gujarat: Connecting Villages to the World

 248.
Digital empowerment is central to Gujarat’s vision. Programs like e-Gram Vishwagram, Digital Seva Setu, and the Garvi app have connected villages to urban amenities and even global services. Governance and public services are now just a click away, even for the rural population.

 249.
Youth: At the Forefront of Innovation

 250.
Initiatives like the Gujarat Startup Mission and i-Hub are nurturing the youth, promoting startups in agriculture, IT, and fintech. Gujarat has led the country in employment generation, as per the Employment Exchange Statistics 2023.

 251.
Infrastructure and Investment: Future-Focused Vision

 252.
From smart cities like Dholera to renewable energy projects, Gujarat is preparing for the future. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train, massive e-vehicle investments, and international companies like Tesla, Micron, and Foxconn choosing Gujarat, are proof of the state’s investor-friendly image. The Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024 reaffirmed the state’s global appeal.

 254.
With world heritage sites like Rani Ki Vav, Champaner, and the Sudarshan Setu, Gujarat continues to cherish its past while pushing the boundaries of modernity. This large-scale operation, which began in the early hours of April 26, is being hailed as one of the most decisive actions by the state against illegal immigration and anti-national activities.

 281.
The demolition comes in response to years of unchecked encroachments that had turned parts of the Chandola Lake region into a hub for illegal settlement and criminal activity. In particular, a significant number of Bangladeshi nationals living without valid documentation had built illegal structures around the lake, many of which were allegedly being used as hideouts and operational bases for activities ranging from terrorism to drug trafficking and human smuggling.

 282.
However, the issue of Chandola demolition seems to be gradually taking on a political colour. Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar and Opposition Leader Shehzad Khan Pathan have made a representation to the Chief Minister to stop the demolition work. Shailesh Parmar said that we are with the government in the action against Bangladeshis, but people of all religions have been living in the Chandola area for the last 50 years. The demolition work is being done illegally.

 283.
On Wednesday, the demolition work was started from the side towards Danilimda. During this, some people were seen vacating the house on their own, while some people created a ruckus. Lack of coordination between the police and the corporation was also seen during the work. A police van was stuck in a ditch, while the health of a female constable on duty deteriorated.

 284.
Government’s Zero-Tolerance Approach

 285.
Under the direct instructions of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, the state has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal infiltrators. Following a high-level meeting on April 25, senior officials from the Home Department, Police, and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation laid out an aggressive action plan to reclaim public land and neutralize potential threats.

 286.
More than 2,000 hutments, three illegal resorts, and various unauthorized commercial structures were razed in a coordinated effort involving 2,000 police officers, 15 State Reserve Police companies, 1,800 municipal workers, and heavy machinery including 74 JCBs.

 287.
Focus on Security and National Integrity

 288.
A senior government spokesperson stated, “This is not just a demolition drive; it is a strategic move to safeguard national security. The infiltration of illegal Bangladeshi migrants is not a mere immigration issue—it is closely tied to terrorist networks, forged documents, drug cartels, and human trafficking syndicates.”

 289.
This area came under increased scrutiny after the Gujarat ATS arrested four Bangladeshi nationals linked to the terrorist group AQIS (Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent) last year. These individuals were found living in illegally constructed shelters near Chandola Lake. Investigations by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are ongoing, with links emerging to broader regional terror networks such as Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

 290.
Reclaiming Public Land for Public Good

 291.
In addition to security concerns, the Gujarat government emphasized its commitment to urban renewal and environmental restoration. Chandola Lake, once a vital ecological water body and cultural landmark, had suffered severe degradation due to years of illegal encroachments.

 292.
“Chandola Lake belongs to the people of Ahmedabad, not to infiltrators and criminals,” said a municipal official. “This drive is the first step in reviving the lake and transforming the area into a safe, clean, and vibrant public space.”

 293.
Action Against Forged Documents and Human Trafficking

 294.
During the operation, authorities uncovered extensive use of forged documents among the illegal residents, including fake ration cards, Aadhaar cards, and even Indian passports. Ahmedabad City Crime Branch is preparing charges related to money laundering and illegal fund transfers to Bangladesh.

 295.
Furthermore, the demolition also disrupted a major human trafficking and prostitution network that had operated for years. Victims, often Bangladeshi women brought in under false pretenses, were forced into exploitation and criminal labor.

The meeting was convened to streamline the implementation of the newly proposed Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024.

 324.
Despite being home to over ₹8,000 crore worth of new textile machinery installations annually — a lion’s share of the nation’s ₹20,000 crore textile machinery market — Surat’s leading industry organizations such as FIASWI, FOGWA, and the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) were not invited to the meeting.

 325.
Sources confirmed that the meeting saw participation from national-level associations such as FICCI, CII, BIS, TMMA, and several sector-specific machinery bodies. The gathering aimed to form a Technical Committee to oversee the rollout and enforcement of the OTR 2024, which will directly impact machinery and equipment safety standards across sectors, including textiles.

 326.
Ashish Gujarati, former SGCCI president and current head of Pandesara Weaving Society, voiced strong disapproval:“It is outrageous that Surat — the largest consumer of textile machinery in the country — was left out of such a significant policy discussion. This is a blatant oversight and an insult to the entire Surat textile ecosystem.”

 327.
Gujarati added that earlier government assurances indicated that end-user input would be a cornerstone of all technical and safety regulation processes. However, the exclusion of Surat from the discussion contradicts that commitment and risks formulating policies detached from ground realities.

 328.
Textile stakeholders in Surat now fear that the absence of local representation may result in impractical or commercially harmful regulatory frameworks. The SGCCI and other associations are reportedly preparing to formally protest this omission with the central government.

 329.
Industry veterans say this isn’t the first time Surat has had to play catch-up with Delhi after being left out of policy dialogues, despite its critical role in India’s textile value chain. “We contribute massively to the national textile economy, yet we have to knock on doors post-facto to make our voices heard. This cycle must stop,” said a senior member of FOGWA.

 330.
“While the Technical Committee begins its work on finalizing the implementation framework for the OTR 2024 Order, Surat’s absence has triggered a fresh debate on the Centre’s consultative processes. The textile powerhouse is demanding an urgent seat at the table — not just to protect its interests, but to ensure that national policies reflect the realities of India’s most active and advanced textile cluster” said Ashok Jirawala, president of FOGWA.

This accolade, instituted by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), aims to honor local bodies for leveraging technology effectively to enhance governance.

 357.
The journey to this achievement began with a rigorous evaluation process encompassing over 1.44 lakh responses from Gram Panchayats across 26 states and union territories. After thorough scrutiny at the block, district, and state levels, a select group of 19 Gram Panchayats were shortlisted for national-level evaluation. Among them, Palsana Gram Panchayat stood out as the sole representative from Gujarat.

 358.
Currently, a two-member team comprising Under Secretaries Ranganath Upadhyay from the Union Department of Science and Technology and Vinod Samant from the Rural Development Department has descended upon Palsana. Their mission: to conduct an intensive survey and project verification over two days. The focus of their assessment includes the implementation of e-governance initiatives and the overall impact of technological interventions on local governance practices.

 359.
The officials from Delhi are collaborating closely with local authorities, including Surat District Development Officer Shivani Goyal, Deputy District Development Officer Piyush Patel, Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Praveen Ahir, and vice-sarpanch Paresh Maisuria. Together, they are meticulously reviewing every facet of Palsana Gram Panchayat’s technological adoption and its transformative effects on service delivery.

 360.
“The commitment displayed by Palsana Gram Panchayat towards innovation and efficiency in service delivery has been commendable,” remarked Shivani Goyal, reflecting on the collaborative efforts underway.

 361.
For Palsana, this recognition marks a culmination of sustained efforts aimed at leveraging technology to bridge governance gaps and enhance citizen-centric services. The accolade not only validates their pioneering initiatives but also sets a benchmark for other local bodies aspiring to emulate similar success stories in e-governance.

 362.
Following the completion of the site study and project verification, the National Panchayat Performance Assessment Committee will finalize the recipient of the National Award for Service Delivery. The anticipation is palpable as Palsana Gram Panchayat awaits the outcome, optimistic about the impact of their initiatives on rural development and governance practices.

The state government proudly announced this achievement on the occasion of Ayushman Bharat Day.

 390.
The Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) serves as a digital health identity designed to integrate and securely store citizens’ health records. With this system, citizens are provided with a digital health ID, ensuring their health records are safely stored online. It guarantees data security and privacy, with information shared only with the citizen’s consent.

 391.
Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), more than 2.26 crore health records have been successfully linked digitally. In addition, over 17,800 health facilities have been registered, significantly enhancing the accessibility and quality of healthcare services. Furthermore, more than 42,000 healthcare professionals have completed their registration, ensuring their seamless integration into the digital health ecosystem.

 392.
Among the 100 ABDM microsite projects implemented across the country, Gujarat’s Bhavnagar microsite has delivered the best performance. The Bhavnagar microsite successfully completed all its milestones even before the 9-month deadline set by the Government of India. Furthermore, Bhavnagar became the first microsite in the country to digitally link over 2 lakh health records. Additionally, other key microsites in Gujarat, such as Ahmedabad and Surat, have also recently completed all their milestones, and the Rajkot microsite is very close to achieving its goals.

 393.
It is worth noting that the ABDM microsite pilot project, launched under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on September 27, 2021, aimed to connect private health professionals and institutions to digital services. Initially started in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Mumbai, the encouraging results from this initiative have led to the successful implementation of 100 ABDM microsites across the country.

 394.
Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the ‘Scan & Share’ feature has significantly improved access to and the efficiency of healthcare services. Available in 19 medical college–affiliated hospitals in the state, this feature allows registered patients to simply scan a QR code to instantly receive their OPD token number.

 395.
At the same time, with the patient’s consent, doctors gain immediate access to all digital health information linked to their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). The QR-based “Scan & Share” service not only enhances the patient experience but also makes healthcare delivery more efficient and effective.
