Describing it as an unconscionable act of ecological sacrilege, a betrayal of generational trust, and a project built on a foundation of lies, Guruji has demanded its immediate and permanent termination.

 58.
“Let my words be heard clearly across this state and this nation. This project is not development; it is an act of Adharma. It is a violent, premeditated assault on the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is the cradle of our rivers and the very soul of our land,” stated Shri Maruti Guruji. “To allow this desecration is to commit a sin against creation itself. We are not against progress, but we are vehemently against destruction. Let there be no doubt about our resolve: we are prepared to give our lives to protect this sacred forest. We will die before we allow this devastation to proceed.”

 59.
Speaking with a blend of spiritual authority and factual precision, Shri Maruti Guruji detailed the irrefutable evidence that makes this project a national disgrace:

 60.
Annihilation of a Sacred Ecosystem: The project will permanently destroy 142.7 hectares of pristine, old-growth rainforest within the Sharavathi Valley Lion-Tailed Macaque Wildlife Sanctuary and dangerously close to the Kali Tiger Reserve. This is a direct assault on what is effectively a ‘Singalika Reserve’: the local name for the Lion-tailed Macaque’s sanctuary, and a critical habitat for the ‘Kalinga Sarpa,’ the majestic King Cobra. It requires the felling of over 16,000 mature trees and extensive blasting, which will trigger catastrophic landslides. The Ministry’s own field report warned the project could be “disastrous not only to the ecology of the area but also to human habitations”. A forest once lost cannot come back at any cost, and the idea of ‘compensatory afforestation’ is a complete fallacy when dealing with an ancient, irreplaceable ecosystem.

 61.
A Cruel Betrayal of Our People: This project will forcibly displace 130 families, including the indigenous Kunbi Marathi community. For these families, this is the second time in 50 years they will be uprooted by the state, repeating a cycle of trauma from the original Linganamakki dam construction which displaced 12,000 families. This is a cruel repeat of history, as many of those families displaced by the original dam have still not been provided proper replacement land or compensation even after 60 years; a failure of the state so profound that it has recently drawn the attention of the Supreme Court.

 62.
An Economic and Technical Sham: The project is a colossal waste of public funds and energy. It is a net consumer of electricity, losing a staggering 24% of the energy it uses in the pumping process. The economic justification is a proven fraud; the project proponent, KPCL, was forced to slash its claimed cost-benefit ratio by 97% – from an absurd 1:2643 down to 1:74.65 – only after being questioned by officials. Meanwhile, the project cost has ballooned from an initial Rs 4,862 crore to over Rs 10,240 crore. All this while ignoring superior, non-destructive, and modern alternatives like Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) that can achieve the same grid-stabilizing goals without destroying a single tree.

 63.
A Brazen Collapse of Governance and Law: The entire process is rotten with illegality. The tender was rushed through in just 21 days, violating procurement laws, and awarded to a contractor facing scrutiny from central agencies. Most damningly, the Ministry of Environment’s own expert submitted a detailed site inspection report with 15 compelling reasons to REJECT the project, only to be inexplicably overruled by her superior officer. The project is a flagrant violation of Section 29 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and stands in direct defiance of a binding Supreme Court order. The directive from November 13, 2000 (in W.P. No. 337/1995), places a blanket ban on the de-reservation of any wildlife sanctuary in the country, making any such land diversion for this project fundamentally illegal without the apex court’s explicit approval.

 64.
“When a government’s own scientific experts warn of catastrophe and are silenced, it is a sign of systemic rot,” declared Shri Maruti Guruji. “This is no longer about energy; it is about integrity, justice, and our moral compass as a nation.”

 65.
“As this project directly threatens a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, I also call upon UNESCO to immediately intervene and investigate this impending cultural and natural catastrophe. The world is watching, and international covenants to protect such irreplaceable sites must be honored, not bulldozed in the name of flawed progress.”

 66.
Shri Maruti Guruji has issued a direct and solemn appeal to the Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka, the Honorable Prime Minister of India, and the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

 67.
I implore you, in the name of Dharma and in the interest of our nation, to act with wisdom and righteousness. Heed the undisputed facts. Listen to the cries of the people and the silent agony of the forest. This project is a monumental mistake; ecologically, socially, economically, and legally. I urge you to intervene personally and cancel the Sharavathi Pumped Storage Project immediately and permanently. Let your legacy be the protection of this priceless natural heritage, not its obliteration.”

The AAI has issued a tender to close the gaps beneath the airport’s boundary wall. The tender involves civil engineering works including filling spaces under the plinth beam of the wall, along with strengthening measures to ensure no wildlife or domestic animals can enter the active runway zone.

 113.
The step comes in response to a long-standing safety concern. Over the years, multiple cases of wild and stray animals entering the runway have been reported, raising serious risks for flight operations.

 114.
In one such incident, two fox carcasses were found on the runway after the landing of the Udaipur-Surat flight in December 2019. The carcasses were disposed of by the airport authorities without notifying the Forest Department, which later issued a notice under the Wildlife Protection Act, pointing out that laid down procedures for animal disposal were ignored.

 115.
The airport authorities had declined to share the incident report into the recovery of the two fox carcasses under the Right to Information Act (RTI).

 116.
Following this, the Forest Department carried out a detailed inspection of the airport’s perimeter along with AAI officials and strongly recommended that the gaps beneath the boundary wall be sealed. The department even offered assistance in the work, but for years the issue remained unattended.

 117.
The most alarming episode took place in 2014, when a buffalo collision with a SpiceJet aircraft occurred at Surat Airport. The incident was considered a unique case in world aviation history, severely damaging the reputation of the airport. SpiceJet suspended its services from Surat for a period after the mishap, underlining how critical the issue had become.

 118.
Now, with the tender floated for construction of watchtowers, road works, and—most crucially—closing the boundary wall gaps, authorities seem to have finally acknowledged the seriousness of the matter.

 119.
While the move has come late, aviation observers believe it marks a much-needed corrective step to improve operational safety and restore confidence in Surat Airport’s infrastructure management.

The union has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an urgent economic package, wage support, and assistance for the families of workers who have taken their own lives amid the prolonged crisis.

 218.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, the DWUG highlighted how the Ukraine-Russia war, the Israel-Hamas conflict, and a global economic slowdown have battered the industry for the past two years. Adding to the woes, the G7 ban on Russian diamonds has reduced supply, and now, the US tariff is set to hit India’s diamond and jewelry exports hard.

 219.
“Industry on the brink of collapse”

 220.
Bhavesh Tank, vice-president of DWUG, minced no words: “The diamond industry has been in recession for a long time, and many workers are unemployed. In just two years, more than 80 workers have committed suicide in Surat. Hundreds are leaving the industry altogether. If the US goes ahead with the tariffs, nearly two lakh jewelers will lose their jobs and five lakh diamond workers will be directly affected. This is not just an economic threat—it will also fuel suicides and crime.”

 221.
The DWUG has also reached out to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, urging them to intervene diplomatically and provide immediate relief to safeguard livelihoods.

 222.
Surat at the heart of global diamonds

 223.
Surat is the nerve center of the global diamond trade, cutting and polishing nine out of every ten diamonds in the world. About 30% of its finished diamonds are exported to the United States. A steep 50% tariff would cripple demand from America, reducing production in Surat and leaving artisans either jobless or forced to work for drastically lower wages.

 224.
Tank warned, “If demand from the US shrinks, our workshops will fall silent. Instead of being dependent on one market, India must urgently look to diversify into other countries. The government should also promote domestic demand by encouraging Indians to wear diamond jewelry in place of gold.”

 225.
Union demands and government response

 226.
Among its demands, the DWUG has sought the Ratnadeep scheme for unemployed diamond workers, the formation of a welfare board, abolition of professional tax, and a rise in wages. Crucially, it has urged the government to provide direct financial assistance to the families of workers who died by suicide.

 227.
The union has also petitioned Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput, and other state leaders to immediately release the pending education assistance of ₹13,500 for the children of diamond workers.

 228.
Industry insiders say the crisis has united voices across party lines. Surat MP Mukesh Dalal, Rajya Sabha MPs Govind Dholakia and Shaktisinh Gohil have already raised concerns in Parliament, pressing for urgent government action.

 229.
A senior member of the union said, “The diamond industry is the pride of Surat and India. It has weathered many storms, but this time the crisis is unprecedented. Without government support, we risk losing not just jobs but an entire ecosystem of skilled artisans.”

Young, passionate, and fuelled by a relentless thirst to build something of his own, Dhrumil stepped into the world of creativity with a boldness that defied his age. What started as an instinctive pull toward theatre, visual media, and digital storytelling quickly grew into a purpose-driven pursuit. While most were still exploring their interests, he was already shaping narratives — experimenting with content, studying audience behavior, and laying the groundwork for a career rooted in innovation. Over time, he established DhruVats, a boutique marketing consultancy known for original campaigns, emotionally intelligent branding, and sharp consumer insight. From launching regional blockbusters like Shu Thayu and Chaal Mann Jeetva Jaiye to driving over 200 brand campaigns, DhruVats has grown into a name synonymous with substance, strategy, and soul. But Dhrumil didn’t stop there. He ventured into the world of luxury weddings with Julio & Maclovia, a premium global wedding company that has successfully executed more than 50 events known for their visual poetry, cultural detail, and flawless execution. Under his leadership, Julio & Maclovia has become a quiet force in the destination wedding space — trusted by families across continents who seek more than grandeur: they seek meaning. Whether building a brand from scratch or designing an experience that lives in memory, Dhrumil’s strength lies in understanding emotion and translating it into something unforgettable.

 289.

 290.
At the intersection of culture, commerce, and creativity, Dhrumil continues to expand his portfolio with a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of audiences. His work spans industries but is tied together by one common thread — experience-driven storytelling. Whether it’s managing large-scale brand activations, leading digital strategy for high-impact campaigns, or curating intimate, globally styled weddings, every project reflects a unique blend of precision and personality. One of his most notable cultural contributions, Garbina Garba, remains close to his heart — a carefully curated Navratri celebration that reintroduces tradition through a contemporary lens. Yet, it’s just one piece of a much larger canvas. Today, Dhrumil leads teams across multiple verticals, delivering insight-led solutions that feel both culturally rooted and creatively bold. His entrepreneurial journey is not one of linear growth but of consistent reinvention — proving that when passion meets purpose, impact is inevitable.

 330.
Travel, fitness, public speaking and travelling have shaped his personality; he likes to explore different possibilities and make the most of it. Beyond the runway, Shevam is deeply passionate about social causes, particularly education accessibility for underprivileged children and animal welfare. One of his most memorable achievements was winning the Phoenix Best Runway Model title at the Prasad Bidapa Mega Model Hunt in 2019, a moment that marked the beginning of his journey in the world of fashion and modelling.

 331.
Mr India Supranational 2026 Abel Biju: Kottayam’s grace, Kerala’s glory, Abel Biju is a banker by profession. 332.
Passionate about animal welfare, Abel works with rescue groups to provide care and raise awareness for neglected street animals. He believes a compassionate society starts with kindness toward the voiceless. Among his memorable achievements are being a finalist in Mr India, being the only one on his campus to secure placements at Federal Bank and Godrej, along earning a university-level table tennis position.

At only 24, he has emerged as one of India’s most celebrated young traders and content creators.

 391.
Early Beginnings: A Teenage Entrepreneur

 392.
Abhay Patil’s entrepreneurial instincts showed up early. At the age of 16, while most teenagers were busy preparing for board exams, he was building his first business. Selling customised merchandise, he managed to generate profits of over ₹3 lakh in his very first year.

 393.
This initial success not only gave him confidence but also provided him with the capital he needed for his next big chapter — trading.

 394.
The Pune Chapter: Balancing Studies and Markets

 395.
When Abhay Patil shifted to Pune for college, he was just 18. While pursuing his B.Tech degree, he simultaneously entered the world of trading, investing the profits from his merchandise business.

 396.
But trading wasn’t easy. The lack of structured guidance, the negative perception surrounding the industry, and the risks involved made his journey extremely challenging. He often had to sacrifice classes, internships, and even opportunities that most college students would consider invaluable.

 397.

“Everyone thought I was wasting my time, but I believed in the process,” Abhay Patil recalls.

 398.
Adding to his struggles, the removal of leverage in Indian markets hit him hard. Yet, instead of quitting, Abhay Patil adapted and kept learning, making mistakes, and evolving.

 399.

 400.
The YouTube Struggles: From 100 Subscribers to 780K

 401.
Parallel to trading, Abhay Patil also began creating content to share his experiences. But his YouTube journey was filled with setbacks. Between 2020 and 2022, he lost three entire channels, along with more than 500 videos.

 402.
Despite this, he never gave up. For two years, he had only 100 subscribers — a number that would have discouraged most creators. But Abhay Patil persisted.

 403.
By 2024, his hard work finally paid off. His channel skyrocketed to 500K subscribers, and today, he commands a massive audience of over 780K on YouTube and 435K on Instagram.

 404.
Expanding Horizons: From Indian Markets to Crypto and Forex

 405.
Initially, Abhay Patil’s focus was on the Indian stock markets. But in 2022, he discovered cryptocurrency trading and realised the immense potential of global markets. By 2023, he had fully entered the world of forex trading.

 406.
Seeing the limitations of Indian markets compared to international opportunities, Abhay Patil decided to go all-in on forex and crypto.

 407.
His decision paid off. In 2024, he moved to Dubai, positioning himself at the global hub of finance and innovation. There, he not only attended international trading events but also networked with some of the world’s top financial minds.

 408.
Abhay Patil also became the first Indian trader to live-stream forex trading, giving his community real-time insights and strategies.

 409.
Milestones of Success: Supercars and Six-Figure Days

 410.
For Abhay Patil, trading wasn’t just about charts and numbers. It was about turning dreams into reality. Before his 24th birthday, he achieved one of his lifelong goals — buying his first dream car, a Chevrolet Corvette.

 411.
But that was just the beginning. In December 2024, Abhay Patil achieved another milestone by making $100,000 in a single day from trading. To celebrate, he purchased his second dream car, the iconic Mercedes G-Wagon.

 412.

 413.
Beyond Wealth: Building a Community

 414.
While luxury cars and big profits are part of Abhay Patil’s story, he insists they are not his biggest achievements. For him, the real joy comes from the messages he receives daily from his followers.

 415.
“When someone tells me they learned trading from my videos and were able to buy their dream bike, support their parents, pay off debts, or just change their life — that means more to me than any milestone,” he says.

 416.
This philosophy of giving back to the community has become central to the Abhay Patil brand. His content is not just about profits, but about financial literacy, discipline, and inspiring people to take control of their financial futures.

 417.
The Bigger Picture

 418.
Abhay Patil journey is a reflection of a larger movement in India, where young traders and creators are breaking stereotypes and building global careers. His story shows that with determination, resilience, and adaptability, it is possible to turn challenges into stepping stones.

 419.
From a 16-year-old selling merchandise in Latur to a 24-year-old trader in Dubai, Abhay Patil’s rise is proof that age and background are no barriers to success.

 420.
And for him, this is just the beginning.

Titled Edible Archives, this immersive series invites patrons to savour a Sattvik thali while tasting a slice of history, literature, and storytelling.

 446.
Beginning on Sunday, August 24, 2025, the curated experience will bring together culinary heritage and cultural narratives through a thoughtfully designed programme hosted once every month. The inaugural session of the series will be themed around Paryushan, one of the most significant spiritual observances among the Jain community of Gujarat.

 447.
Facilitated by food historians Tana Trivedi and Love Joshi and titled Flavours of Gujarat: A Culinary Journey Through History, the one-hour experience will take guests on a discovery of Gujarat’s timeless food traditions, blending guided tastings, storytelling, and interactive activities. Designed for food enthusiasts, students of culture, and community members, the session aims to help participants rediscover the state’s diverse culinary legacies.

 448.
The programme will explore Gujarat’s food heritage through the influences of ancient trade, Jain vegetarian traditions, and colonial history. Guests will savour a curated thali featuring everyday staples, festive delicacies, and modern street foods, each paired with stories of their origins. Interactive elements such as storytelling circles, food memory sharing, and playful games will further deepen the engagement, making the afternoon as much about conversation and memory as it is about taste and aroma.

 449.
Edible Archives celebrates India’s culinary diversity by pairing timeless vegetarian traditions with cultural narratives. As part of this initiative, Royal Vega will host a thematic session every month, that will not only showcase regional cuisines but also highlight the stories, rituals, and histories that make them special.

 450.
Each subsequent edition will highlight a different facet of India’s culinary culture, guided by seasonal ingredients, regional histories, and local storytelling traditions.

 451.
In doing so, Edible Archives becomes more than just a dining experience, it is a cultural journey that praises the living heritage of Gujarat and India. Rooted in ITC Hotels’ philosophy of Responsible Luxury, the series is yet another initiative to celebrate indigenous cuisines, promoting local culture, and preserving age-old culinary wisdom for future generations. By curating mindful gastronomic journeys, ITC Narmada not only brings the richness of regional thalis to the fore but also honours the communities, traditions, and environments that sustain them.

 452.
ITC Narmada invites patrons to participate in the inaugural session of Edible Archives, on Sunday – August 24, 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm, at Royal Vega, ITC Narmada, Ahmedabad. The session will take guests through Gujarat’s culinary traditions and let them rediscover food as a living archive of culture, migration, memory, and celebration. Prior reservations are highly encouraged.
