42.

The industrial-focused names in the Club’s portfolio wrapped up a pretty solid earnings season last week, but their stocks were largely not rewarded. Shares of toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker and industrial gas giant Linde tumbled on fiscal results Thursday, so the Club added to both positions on the overblown reactions. DuPont was the exception. The stock hit multi-year highs Wednesday after the specialty chemical maker delivered top and bottom line beats. Shares of electrical components giant Eaton sank undeservedly Tuesday despite quarterly beats. Honeywell , out the prior week, came under pressure on its April 25 earnings day on softer guidance. Artificial intelligence, destocking, and pricing emerged as themes and reasons for optimism, despite some of the initial stock moves. AI spending First, a surge in AI investments was welcomed news for Eaton, DuPont and Linde. Eaton posted a better-than-expected quarter Tuesday, beating estimates for revenue and earnings. Front and center was the success of its largest division, Electrical Americas, which set another record for sales, profit, and segment margins. It benefited from increased spending by companies to build and retrofit data centers for AI workloads. Those facilities need lots of power and that means Eaton’s power management systems are in high demand. ETN YTD mountain Eaton (ETN) year-to-date performance On the post-earnings conference call, Eaton CEO Craig Arnold said AI data center orders “on a trailing 12-month basis have more than doubled, and our negotiations in the U.S. have increased by more than four times.” We touched on the data center tailwind as a way to invest in the next wave of AI in a commentary last month. This past week’s quarterly results put the opportunity into sharper focus. Despite the stellar quarter and guidance, Eaton shares declined 2.5% on Tuesday and another nearly 2% on Wednesday as investors took profits following a roughly 30% year-to-date gain. Still, the Club raised our price target to $350 per share from $330 because of stronger-than-expected demand for Eaton’s offerings on the back of AI spend. “Everything was about as perfect as you can get this quarter,” Jim Cramer said after the print. DD YTD mountain DuPont de Nemours (DD) DuPont delivered a much-needed rebound quarter this week, highlighted by improvements in the company’s crucial Electronics & Industrials (E & I) division. Management said that AI demand and data center growth will help spur more growth in this division. E & I creates materials used in the manufacturing process of semiconductors, which later goes into powering AI. During the earnings call, CEO Ed Breen forecasted that E & I will grow in the high single digits in 2025 — as fab utilization, shorthand for chip manufacturing, continues to improve. “People don’t realize what it’s like when Ed Breen gets on the juggernaut,” Jim said after the release. “This is the DuPont we wanted when we bought it.” LIN YTD mountain Linde (LIN) year-to-date performance Linde posted mixed a quarterly Thursday — an earnings beat but a revenue miss. The stock fell 5% on softer guidance, which we thought was conservative. The Club took the dip as a buying opportunity, scooping up shares of the quality industrial name for the first time in over two years. We upgraded the stock to our buy equivalent 1 rating . During the conference call, CEO Sanjiv Lamba said surging demand for new data centers and AI chips will help drive volumes in the back half of the year for Linde’s electronics business, which accounts for roughly 10% of its portfolio. Linde plays a role in the semiconductor fabrication process because of its specialty industrial gases. Destocking Destocking, or whittling down excess inventory, was important at Stanley Black & Decker, DuPont, and Honeywell. Supply chain disruptions and softening consumer demand on macroeconomic uncertainty were some of the factors that led to high inventory levels in recent years. SWK YTD mountain Stanley Black & Decker (SWK) year-to-date performance As supply chains continued to normalize and destocking costs eased, Stanley Black & Decker’s results indicated that gross margins improved for the first quarter. While posting top- and bottom-line beats , the toolmaker failed to impress Wall Street with its guidance — reiterating its outlook, rather than raising it. Investors took profits, driving SWK shares down 7.5% on Thursday. But we bought the dip. “I want to load up the boat on this one,” Jim said. The Club cut our Stanley Black & Decker price target to $105 per share from $110 in recognition of the delay. Timing around recovery for home improvement also remains unclear as interest rate cut expectations continue to get pushed out. Jim said SWK would benefit greatly from Fed rate cuts. Back at DuPont, its upbeat quarter — and subsequent share price surge — was largely due to overcoming destocking headwinds. The chemical maker has dealt with an inventory glut over several business lines, which has weighed on sales and profits for years. But destocking in DuPont’s Water unit and parts of its Industrial Technologies segment appeared to bottom as the company experienced an increase in orders. These improvements, in part, led us to raise our DuPont price target to $85 per share from $78. Once destocking ends across all business segments, Club analysts forecast more upside as the stock demands a higher multiple. HON YTD mountain Honeywell International (HON) year-to-date performance During Honeywell’s earnings call, CEO Vimal Kapur said the industrial conglomerate’s short-cycle business is beginning to see improvements on better inventory levels. “We are starting to see recovery in some areas of our short-cycle portfolio, including consecutive quarters of order growth in productivity solutions and services, while the other short-cycle businesses continue to normalize as the effects of destocking fade,” Kapur said on the April 25 post-earnings call. Overall, Honeywell’s quarterly results were better than feared. The company beat on sales and earnings, while its long-cycle business remained strong and jumped to a record of $32 billion. Pricing Our third takeaway was the importance of pricing for Linde and Stanley Black & Decker. Stanley Black & Decker’s pricing for its largest segment — known as Tools & Outdoor — was flat for the quarter. But the Club saw this as a positive because management isn’t lowering prices in order to boost demand for the company’s offerings. During Thursday’s conference call, Lamba described pricing as “an important lever ” for the firm. Linde CFO Matthew White said on the earnings call, “Price continues to drive underlying sales growth with a positive contribution of 2% year-over-year.” Lamba said, “While pricing remains an important lever for us, we’re also focused on other growth opportunities. … Add to that the contracted backlog and we have a solid growth pipeline for the next few years ahead.” We know Linde has immense pricing power because its products are high up on the supply chain. 115.

 116.
This year, Eurovision will be held in Malmo, Sweden, and already fans are descending on the country’s third-largest city, decked out in sequins, glitter, skin-tight metallics or neon, some of them with their country’s flags painted on their faces or draped around their shoulders.

 117.
For fans, it’s a yearlong buildup to this weeklong party. For viewers across Europe and around the world, the contest will be shown over three days next week.

 118.
Artists from 37 countries across Europe and beyond will perform original songs — ranging from soaring power ballads to the bombastically ridiculous — to compete for the public’s vote, before a winner is chosen in a high-drama Grand Final.

 119.
The glittery, pyrotechnic-filled spectacle draws in around 160 million viewers, making it the world’s most-watched nonsports event — surpassed only by the Olympics and the World Cup.

 120.
In fact, Eurovision is often likened to the Olympics of pop music. Paul Jordan, a superfan who wrote his Ph.D. on the contest, said: “They’ve got the spectacle of the opening ceremony. You’ve got the drama of the podium.”

 121.
“If you haven’t seen it or heard of it, you’re probably living in a sad world,” Silvester Belt, this year’s entrant from Lithuania, told NBC News. “It’s the funniest and most awkward, cringiest and fun event in the world. I don’t think there’s anything like [it].”

 122.
 123.
The first Eurovision was in 1956. Seven countries participated in what was essentially a technical experiment — national broadcasting organizations of the early TV era wanted to know if they could pull off a live, simultaneous, transnational broadcast. The show’s format was copied from a popular Italian song contest called San Remo and evolved from there.

 124.
Eurovision proved to be a success, both technologically and culturally. Seven decades later, Eurovision is more beloved than ever, moving beyond TV to spawn a vast ecosystem of superfan blogs and social media accounts breathlessly covering its every development.

 125.
Today, Eurovision features most of Europe and some countries farther afield like Israel, Azerbaijan and Australia.

 126.
When is it?

 127.
First semifinal: Tuesday, May 7, at 3 p.m. Eastern.

 128.
Second semifinal: Thursday, May 9, at 3 p.m. Eastern.

 129.
Grand Final: Saturday, May 11, at 3 p.m. Eastern.

 130.
In the U.S., the shows are available to watch on Peacock.

 131.
How does it work?

 132.
Eurovision is divided into two semifinals and a Grand Final. Fifteen countries perform their song in the first semifinal, and 16 in the second. After each semifinal, viewers at home vote for their favorites, and the top 10 from each are put through to the Grand Final.

 133.
In total, there are 26 performances in the Grand Final: the winners of the semifinals, plus the host country (this year, Sweden) and a group called the Big Five — France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom — which enter the final automatically because their countries make the biggest financial contributions to Eurovision.

 134.
The winner of the Grand Final is decided by a combination of a popular vote from viewers and an official Eurovision jury.

 135.
Each artist only performs one song throughout the contest. The songs can be in any language, but are limited to three minutes. Lead vocals must be performed live and there cannot be more than six people onstage during the performance.

 136.
How to vote

 137.
Viewers at home can vote by phone, text or via the official Eurovision app.

 138.
Voters from countries participating in the contest can’t vote for their own act, but even fans from places that don’t take part in Eurovision can have their say. Voting in the app or on a website, viewers from around the world make up a “rest of the world” category that equals one participating nation. Once Eurovision is up and running, this website will become active and allow viewers outside Eurovision nations to vote: www.esc.vote.

 140.
For the final, viewers vote for their favorite out of the 26 remaining contestants, and the popular vote is combined with votes from juries of music industry professionals from each participating country.

 141.
Presenters, hamming up the anticipation in a drawn-out process, announce the juries’ votes country by country, building tension as a few acts take the lead.

 142.
Then the real drama begins when the popular vote is revealed. As the popular votes are read out, the leaderboard can swing dramatically. In recent years, the jury and the public voted for different winners, meaning the act in the lead after the jury vote is in no way guaranteed to stay on top once the public has its say.

 143.
The winner is presented with a trophy and much glory for having won Eurovision. The country they represent will host the next year’s contest.

 144.
A variety of styles

 145.
Part of the joy of Eurovision is the sheer range of songs, often making for strange bedfellows with discordant musical styles performing back to back.

 146.
“Every single person on Earth can find something in Eurovision,” Belt, the Lithuanian singer, said.

 147.
Bambie Thug, this year’s entry from Ireland, calls their goth-inflected genre “Ouija-pop.” Their entry “Doomsday Blue” alternates between frantic growling and screaming and laid-back singing in the chorus.

 149.
Denmark’s Saba shows off her powerful vocals in “Sand,” a classic breakup ballad. The Czech entry, Aiko, sounds like her musical style was inspired by American pop–rock, while Austria’s entry is a Europop dance anthem that eschews subtlety with its title “We Will Rave.”

 150.
And then there are the off-the-wall entries that Eurovision is perhaps best known for, featuring eccentric musical styling and staging.

 151.
Iconic performances of past decades have included a group of Russian babushkas, a Finnish heavy metal band dressed as monsters, and a bearded Austrian drag queen singing what could have been a James Bond theme song.

 152.
“I think that the majority is in it to win it,” Eurovision co-host Petra Mede said, but some countries focus less on sending a strong singer, and more on a memorable performance that will have people talking, providing a “spectacular entry. And they know that they’re not going to win, but they’re going to give us a good three minutes.”

 153.
“I think there’s a couple of quirky ones,” said Jordan, the superfan who wrote a dissertation on Eurovision, inspired by last year’s runner-up, a chaotic performance called “Cha Cha Cha” by Finland’s Käärijä, who leapt around the stage in a puffy neon green outfit shouting “cha cha cha” between high-energy lyrics in Finnish about hitting the dance floor after a long week at work.

 154.
“I think there’s a few that have tried to emulate that success,” Jordan said.

 155.
He says “Europapa” by the Netherlands’ Joost Klein is one to watch. “It’s insanely catchy. It’s gone viral online. I can imagine people around Europe will be voting for that, they’ll be having parties, they’ll be loving it.”

 156.
<picture class="styles_image__1qciH" data-testid="picture"></picture>
Dutch musician, rapper, singer and former YouTuber Joost Klein.SANDER KONING / AFP – Getty Images

 157.
Klein performs in a blue suit with exaggerated pointy shoulder pads, with backup dancers who include a person in a bird costume wearing an E.U.-logo tie.

 158.
“Rim Tim Tagi Dim” by Croatia’s Baby Lasagna is also drawing attention. The high-energy song about leaving the countryside for city life is a buzzy way of putting a spotlight on the issue of Croatia’s brain drain.

 159.
Favorites to win

 160.
Winners of the contest come from all over the musical spectrum. In the past decade, successful genres have included pop from Sweden, jazz from Portugal, and rock from Italy.

 161.
Jordan says that unlike previous years when there were heavy favorites, “it seems to be really open this year. There doesn’t seem to be a runaway winner.”

 162.
<picture class="styles_image__1qciH" data-testid="picture"></picture>
Should Swiss singer Nemo Mettler succeed, they would be the first non-binary artist to win Eurovision.SANDER KONING / AFP – Getty Images

 163.
Some to watch include Switzerland’s “The Code” by Nemo, which is about the singer’s journey of discovering their nonbinary identity, and Italy’s Angelina Mango. Her entry, “La Noia,” which translates to “The Boredom,” is inspired by the cumbia music of Latin America.

 164.
The quirky Dutch and Croatian entries are also likely to be favorites with viewers at home, with splashy performances that can help them stand out in the crowded field.

 165.
The public and the juries often diverge on who they think should win, with votes from the jury tending to reward musical prowess while votes from the public are often swayed by spectacle.

 166.
Jordan says Ukraine “can never really be discounted — they know how to stage a song,” and are the only country currently in the competition that has always gone through to the final from the semis. Ukraine has won Eurovision three times since it joined the contest in 2003, and the Ukrainian entry usually finishes in the top 10.

 167.
Legendary pop singers have emerged from the Eurovision gantlet: Fifty years ago, then-little-known Swedish band ABBA won with “Waterloo,” a song that has since entered the ranks of pop classics. In 1988, a young Celine Dion was launched into fame when she won for Switzerland with the song “Ne partez pas sans moi.”

 257.
Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter Dannielynn Birkhead joined her father Larry Birkhead at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 4.

 258.
The 17-year-old Dannielynn and her father, 51, attended the 150th Kentucky Derby together in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, posing for photos before they made their way to the racetrack. Dannielynn wore a bright red Badgley Mischka gown and coordinating Jane-Rose Zupetz fascinator while her dad sported a light gray suit and a purple tie.

 259.
“We are having a great time,” Larry exclusively told Us Weekly on Saturday. “Dannielynn is enjoying for one of [her] first years getting into the fashion of the Derby. She wore a dress that was Janet Jackson’s on Friday and got a major haircut because she wanted ‘another look’ for Derby Day.”

 260.
Larry also noted that his daughter “likes the horse Mystik Dan because of her name Dannielynn.”

 261.
On Friday, May 3, the father-daughter duo attended the Barnstable Brown Gala at Barnstable-Brown Mansion in Louisville the night before Derby Day, as they do every year. Dannielynn wore a floor-length, long-sleeved black gown adorned with zippers and paired with platform combat boots. 313.
Every year, tens of thousands of investors flock to Omaha — and many more tune in around the world – to watch Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffett field questions from shareholders at his company’s annual meeting.

 314.
This year, as ever, Buffett shared his insights not only on the financial fundamentals behind Berkshire’s many subsidiaries and portfolio companies, but also the path to a successful life.

 315.
This year’s entire 4-plus-hour affair is worth a watch, listen or read. But without getting into the nitty-gritty, here’s two key pieces of advice Buffett shared on Saturday — one about money, and one about life.

 316.

 317.
On smart investing: ‘We never worried about missing something we didn’t understand’

 318.

 319.
One shareholder asked Buffett about one of the most fundamental decisions any investor can make: when to buy or sell an investment.

 320.
The description of the process he and longtime partner Charlie Munger employed offers tremendous insight to his investment philosophy.

 321.
“Charlie and I made decisions extremely fast, but in effect after years of thinking about the parameters that would enable us to make the quick decision when it presented itself,” he said.

 322.
He didn’t make his sizable investment in Apple, he said, until he felt he had a full grasp of consumer behavior, an understanding he came to after owning several other consumer businesses, both successful and unsuccessful.

 323.
After years of gathering intelligence on a particular subject, he said, “there is something that comes along and ticks a whole bunch of observations that you’ve made and knowledge you have, and then crystallizes your thinking into action, big action in the case of Apple.”

 324.
The point for investors: Buffett doesn’t buy any investment based on vibes or impulse. Only after he determined that the iPhone was “maybe the greatest product of all time,” did he buy.

 325.
Meanwhile, he never worries about missing out on an investment if it involves a product or company that he hasn’t devoted exhaustive research to.

 326.
“Charlie and I missed a lot of things … we never worried about missing something that we didn’t understand,” Buffett said.

 327.

 328.
On a successful life: Write your own obituary

 329.

 330.
Shareholders frequently ask Buffett for his musings on a life well lived, but rarely are they quite as straightforward as one question asker this year: “What advice would you like to share today that you believe everyone needs to hear?” she asked.

 331.
Buffett echoed guidance from Munger: Think about how you would like your obituary to read, and begin building a life that will get you there.

 332.
Buffett noted that those living in present day America have as good a chance at accomplishing this as anyone in world history. “You’re entering the best world that’s ever existed. And you want to find the people to share it with and the activities to participate in that fit you,” he said. “And if you get lucky like Charlie and I did you’ll find things that interest you young. But if you don’t find them right away you keep looking.”

 333.
That may require some trial and error, Buffett acknowledged.

 334.
“I always tell students, find a job that you would like to have if you didn’t need a job. Sometimes you can find that very early, and sometimes you go through various experiences,” he said. “But don’t forget what you’re actually trying to do.”

 335.
Regardless of what tribulations you go through, keeping in mind how you’d like to eventually be remembered is the best way to help you achieve it, Buffett said.

 336.
“Expect some difficulties along the way, but if you’re thinking that way, you’re more likely to get there.”

 367.

 368.
TEL AVIV — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that his government has voted unanimously to shut down the local offices of Qatar-owned broadcaster Al Jazeera.

 369.
Netanyahu announced the decision on X, formerly Twitter, but details on the implications of the step on the channel, when it would go into effect or whether the measure was permanent or temporary were not immediately clear.

 370.
There was no immediate comment from the channel headquarters in Doha, Qatar. An Al Jazeera correspondent on its Arabic service said the order would affect the broadcaster’s operations in Israel and in east Jerusalem, where it has been doing live shots for months since the Oct. 7 attack that sparked the war in Gaza.

 371.
It would not affect Al Jazeera’s operations in the Palestinian territories, the correspondent said.

 372.
Israeli media said the vote allows Israel to block the channel from operating in the country for 45 days, according to the decision.

 373.
“My government decided unanimously: the incitement channel Al Jazeera will close in Israel,” Netanyahu posted on X. Al Jazeera has vehemently denied that it incites against Israel.

 374.
The decision escalated Israel’s long-running feud against Al Jazeera. It also threatened to heighten tensions with Qatar, which owns the channel, at a time when the Doha government is playing a key role in mediation efforts to halt the war in Gaza.

 375.
Israel has long had a rocky relationship with Al Jazeera, accusing it of bias against it.

 376.
Al Jazeera is one of the few international media outlets to remain in Gaza throughout the war, broadcasting bloody scenes of airstrikes and overcrowded hospitals and accusing Israel of massacres. Israel accuses Al Jazeera of collaborating with Hamas.

 377.
Al Jazeera, the Doha-based broadcaster funded by Qatar’s government, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

 378.
While Al Jazeera’s English operation often resembles the programming found on other major broadcast networks, its Arabic arm often publishes verbatim video statements from Hamas and other militant groups in the region. It similarly came under harsh U.S. criticism during America’s occupation of Iraq after its 2003 invasion toppled director Saddam Hussein.

 406.
The union’s demands have not been made public but a leaked document sheds light on the eye-popping demands.

 407.
Union President Stacy Davis Gates’ audacious plan calls for members to bank at least 9% wage increases each year through fiscal year 2028.

 408.
The average salary of a teacher in Chicago Public Schools is $93,182, according to research by the Illinois Policy Institute, a conservative nonprofit think tank. Therefore, the average teacher’s pay will increase by half to $144,620 in the 2027-2028 school year, it says.

 409.
That figure would equate to more than double the median household income in Chicago, according to Census Bureau statistics.

 410.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the CPS budget will exceed $9 billion this year, up nearly 30% from $7.4 billion just five years ago. Much of that increase is reflected in teacher salaries, which are among the highest of any big-city teachers in the country, the

 411.
Last school year, the district spent more than $21,000 per student, far above the national average of $14,347, according to census data.

 412.
Gates’ plan also calls for teachers and counselors to be paid a stipend of $1,000 per student per semester when they are assigned a number of students above contractual limits and a retirement bonus of $2,500 for employees with more than 30 years of service.

 413.
“We are asking you to give us an opportunity to tell our story,” Gates said in a speech in March referring to the union’s plans. “It will cost $50 billion and three cents… yes it will, and so what, that’s audacity.”

 418.
CHICAGO TEACHERS UNION PRESIDENT USED ‘UNLAWFUL DEDUCTION’ ON HOME IN INDIANA FOR OVER A DECADE

 419.
While the figure might seem far-fetched, the union holds tremendous sway in city politics with deep ties to Mayor Brandon Johnson.

 420.
Johnson, a former CTU legislative coordinator who was put forward by the union to run for mayor. As of June 30, 2023, CTU had funneled more than $2.6 million into Johnson’s campaign while he received more than $6 million from teachers unions altogether, according to the Illinois Policy Institute.

 421.
Meanwhile, Davis herself has come under fire for sending her son to a private school after calling school choice racist.

 422.
The leaked demands also address “disparities” in health care with 100% coverage benefits for abortion care, 100% coverage benefits for fertility, including full coverage for storage of embryos and any other frozen storage needs.

 423.
But the union also wants more taxpayers’ funds to go to migrants in its far-reaching plan – earmarking $2,000 to be given to each migrant to help with academics, transportation and mental health counseling.

 424.
The union also wants each of the 646 public schools to have a “newcomer liaison” for new students as well as migrant students and unused school facilities to be converted into housing accommodation for migrants.

 429.
There is also a whole host of other social justice provisions the union wants, including making sure workers and educators are trained annually on LGBTQ+ issues as a qualification in their job description.

 430.
The union also wants to mandate that every school in the district has at least one gender-neutral bathroom.

 431.
Additionally, it wants the board to adopt policies that would prohibit any member from being compelled to tell parents when a student rejects his or her sex.

 432.
CLICK TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

 433.
Mailee Smith, senior director of labor policy at the Illinois Policy Institute, has blasted Davis’ demands and said that Mayor Johnson should recuse himself from contract negotiations.

 434.
“These demands read more like a political agenda than a serious contract intent on supporting teachers’ wages and benefits, and promoting the education of Chicago students,” Smith said in a statement last month.

 435.
“These demands are far outside the scope of traditional bargaining, putting taxpayer dollars on the line in pursuit of more union power and social activism.”

 436.
“We are in the process of calculating the cost of these demands, but we can already tell that funding them will require a sweeping overhaul of finances and new revenues – meaning more and higher taxes for residents. Chicagoans deserve to be represented by a neutral party who is looking out for their finances.”

The death of Munger last year brought the question of succession to the forefront of many investors’ minds at this year’s shareholders meeting.

 522.
At times, Buffett, who’s about to turn 94 in August, seemed to mull over his own mortality, even as he said he was feeling fine to continue running the business. He spoke from the dais at Omaha’s CHI Health Center, where the meeting was held, with his lieutenants Greg Abel, Berkshire Hathaway Energy chairman and Buffett’s heir apparent, as well as Ajit Jain, vice chairman of insurance operations.

 523.
“We’ll see how the next management plays the game out at Berkshire, [but] fortunately you don’t have too long to wait on that,” Buffett said. “I feel fine, but I know a little about actuarial tables.”

 561.
Buffett spoke often of Munger throughout the morning and afternoon sessions, referring to him as the “architect” of Berkshire’s success. The two men shaped Berkshire into a $900 billion conglomerate from what had once been a textile mill. He also noted the characteristics he admired most in the late business titan, such as his honesty. “When you get that in your life, you cherish those people and you sort of forget about the rest,” he said.

 562.
At one point during the question-and-answer session, Buffett referred to Abel, who was sitting to his left, as the late Munger in a slip-up, prompting laughter from the crowd. “I’m so used to that,” admitted Buffett, who said he’d likely “slip again” during the meeting. Abel, who is Buffett’s named successor, responded: “It’s a great honor.”

 563.
Buffett also took some time to honor Carol Loomis, the financial journalist who had edited his shareholder letter from 1977, all the way to the most recent Berkshire report. “Carol is the best business writer,” Buffett said, adding, “Nobody came close to her, and she started from scratch.”

 564.
Despite the more solemn meeting, Buffett appeared intent to keep going for as long as he could at the helm. Addressing his shareholders at the conclusion of the 2024 shareholder meeting, the investor said: “I not only hope you come next year. I hope I come next year.”
