66.
The Buffalo Bills have dealt with a lot of injuries during training camp this year. So who is to blame for the injuries and the time out we are seeing?

 67.
 68.
Bills already have a new strength and conditioning coach

 69.
 70.
Buffalo moved on from their head strength and conditioning coach this offseason and one of the potential reasons for the move was the inability of players to get back on the field after injuries. But a some of these injuries can’t be avoided with more strength such as concussions and broken collarbones.

 71.
 72.
Bills are being very cautious during camp

 73.
 74.
The Bills coaching staff has been holding players out with soreness, and it’s probably fair to think they are being conservative with guys they know are going to make the team. Benching Tyler Bass when he’s a little sore in the preseason makes sense. Ditto Dorian Williams and Terrel Bernard at linebacker, Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox at tight end, and more.

 75.
 76.
Are the Bills adding injury-prone players?

 77.
 78.
It could be that the Bills are signing injury-prone players, and we know that’s the case for Joey Bosa. But Bosa has been participating for the most part. Baylon Spector missed two games his senior year at Clemson but played in every other game of his college career. That didn’t translate to the pros, as he was oft injured.

 79.
 80.
The Bills only have one player on injured reserve

 81.
 82.
Only one player is on injured reserve for the Bills, as the team chose to waive Baylon Spector and the other players injured. Contrasting that with other teams, the Bills are pretty darn low.

 83.
 84.
Are you concerned with all the Bills injuries in camp?

 85.
 86.
Regardless of why, several Bills players have missed chunks of training camp. Does that concern you and which specific players are worth discussing here? Probably safety Cole Bishop, potentially wide receiver Curtis Samuel, but the list isn’t very long.

 87.
 88.
Leave your thoughts in the comments section

 132.
Both of these plays were huge factors in deciding the outcome of their respective games. Against Kansas City, Buffalo was ahead by two points and there was two-and-a-half minutes left on the game clock. Going for it on 4th & 2 was a gutsy call that paid off in Josh Allen highlight reel fashion. This play effectively sealed the game.

 133.
 134.
Against the Baltimore Ravens, Terrel Bernard’s forced fumble didn’t seal the game. However, the Ravens were at midfield and down by five with just over half of the fourth quarter to play. With the ball back, the Bills were able to come up with a field goal to go up by eight. That gave the Bills just enough cushion to survive a Ravens comeback (thank you failed two-point conversion).

 150.
In direct contrast to the two plays above, neither of these plays ultimately mattered all that much in the outcome of their respective games with blowouts against the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers. However, there’s a good case to be made that these are two of the most miraculous plays in recent memory.

 151.
 152.
Against the 49ers, the Bills were already up 21 – 3 when Josh Allen threw a short pass to Amari Cooper on first down. I point out the down as there was zero reason to force anything at the goal line with at least two more chances. We all know that Cooper enabled Josh Allen’s highlight reel habits though.

 153.
 154.
For Ty Johnson’s touchdown, the game was actually close at this point with Buffalo up 13 – 7 late in the third quarter. On fourth down, rather than safely go for the yard-and-a-half they needed to keep things moving or the even safer field goal attempt, Buffalo went for the score. A sliding Ty Johnson managed to keep his toes above the white paint and therefore in bounds to start what would become a late rout.

 194.
Josh Allen’s 2020 season (4,544 passing yards, 37 TDs, 10 INTs, 421 rushing yards, 8 rushing TDs) served as his breakout party, establishing him as a dual-threat superstar. His rocket arm, play-extending mobility, and exciting runs make Allen a defensive nightmare. Allen’s 2022 season (4,283 yards, 35 TDs) further showcased his clutch ability to lead comebacks and shred defenses with deep-ball accuracy. Still well within his peak and coming off an MVP season, Allen is a one-man wrecking crew. He’s the undisputed QB1 for this roster.

 210.
Fitzpatrick’s 2011 season (3,832 yards, 24 TDs, 23 INTs) showed off his gunslinger mentality, delivering big plays despite turnover risks. 214.
Allen’s prime is unmatched, with his ability to dominate through the air and on the ground making him the clear starter. Taylor’s mobility, deep pass accuracy, and especially his ability to take care of the football, edge out Fitz for the backup role. Fitzpatrick’s magic on his best days is very valuable, but his inconsistencies (especially in the clutch) are very risky. Drew Bledsoe (2002-2004) had a strong 2002 (4,359 yards, 24 TDs), but his lack of mobility and declining prime kept him off this list.

 234.
Fred Jackson’s 2011 season (934 rushing yards, 6 TDs, 442 receiving yards) was special before injuries cutting it short. His all-purpose grit and leadership were easy to notice in what was an early Offensive Player of the Year-worthy campaign. A tough runner with soft hands and a contact balance like few others, Jackson could do it all and always delivered in clutch moments. 246.
McCoy’s 2016 peak, blending explosiveness and receiving skills, makes him the ideal starter for a modern offense. Jackson’s all-around game edges out McGahee for the backup role, offering flexibility. McGahee’s power is valuable but less dynamic. C.J. Spiller (2010-2014) flashed brilliance in 2012 (1,244 yards, 6 TDs), but his inconsistency and limited receiving role kept him out. Travis Henry was great as a workhorse, and Marshawn Lynch had his moments as a Bill as well, but I couldn’t have any of them over my top three. 258.
Eric Moulds’ 2002 season (1,292 yards, 10 TDs) well-illustrates what he could do in his prime, leveraging his 6’2”, 210-pound frame to dominate with physicality and jump-ball prowess. His ability to win in the red zone and stretch the field made him a matchup nightmare. Moulds’ peak performance as a true WR1 edges out others for this spot, reflecting his dominance in Buffalo. We’ve never seen anyone else like him wearing a Bills uniform (sorry Andre).

 298.
Price’s 2002 season (1,252 yards, 9 TDs) was a breakout year, one loaded with speed and play making. In his prime, nobody complemented Moulds as the number one better. His performance as an elite WR2 earns him an outside role.

 313.
 314.
The starting trio of Eric Moulds, Sammy Watkins, and Stefon Diggs blends physicality, explosiveness, and slot precision, which are all ideal for Josh Allen. With this group, he’d be able to explore mismatches all game long.

 315.
 316.
Backups Stevie, Evans, and Bease aren’t physically imposing as the starters, but offer route-running, speed, and slot reliability. The third team — Peerless Price, TO, and Robert Woods — provides depth with speed, physicality, versatility, and blocking value.

 317.
 318.
John Brown (2019: 1,060 yards), Khalil Shakir (2023: 611 yards), and Josh Reed (2002: 509 yards) were considered but excluded for limited versatility, lacking the all-around impact of the selected players in route diversity, physicality, red-zone production, and especially the ability to play multiple roles in the WR group.

 322.
Final Thoughts

 323.
 324.
This group of Bills is a juggernaut, built to dominate a quarter-century Super Bowl matchup. Josh Allen’s dual-threat brilliance, LeSean McCoy’s game-breaking runs, and a receiving corps of Eric Moulds, Sammy Watkins, and Stefon Diggs create an unstoppable attack. The backups — Tyrod, Jackson, Johnson, Evans, and Beasley — provide depth and flexibility, while the third team adds explosive potential. This unit can exploit any defense, with Allen’s deep balls to Moulds and Watkins, Diggs’ chain-moving reliability, and McCoy’s electric runs.

 325.
View Link

 326.
It was tough to “cut” guys like “Beast Mode,” who became the best version of himself elsewhere, C.J. Spiller, whose 2012 peak was electric but inconsistent, Travis Henry, who was the definition of a workhorse, and John Brown at receiver, whose speed was valuable but didn’t match the selected players’ primes.

 327.
 328.
The 2025 season could elevate players like Khalil Shakir or James Cook, potentially reshaping this list. For now, this roster is a force to be reckoned with. Bills Mafia, what do you think? Did I miss anyone, or would you tweak the lineup? Drop your thoughts below, and stay tuned for the coaches and special teams! Go Bills!

 357.
The Buffalo Bills run a defensive system that relies heavily on its front four to generate pressure on the quarterback. This strategy has served the team well against most NFL clubs. However, when that group can’t generate pressure against certain clubs and their elite quarterbacks, they have struggled greatly. With that in mind, general manager Brandon Beane has remained on a continued quest to find a pass-rush group that can put pressure on quarterbacks when it matters most.

 358.
 359.
A few years back, the Bills took a big swing on a big-name pass rusher when they signed future Hall of Famer Von Miller. That signing didn’t pan out, as Miller suffered a torn ACL and took a whole season to come close to his old form. This offseason, the Bills took another big swing on an elite edge, hoping that his long injury history is more a thing of the past.

 360.
 361.
In today’s installment of “90 players in 90 days,” we discuss a man who will be looked upon to create havoc in opposing backfields.

 362.
 363.
_____________________________________________________________________________

 364.
 365.
Name: Joey Bosa
Number: 97
Position: DE
Height/Weight: 6’5”, 280 pounds
Age: 30 (31 on 7/11/2026)
Experience/Draft: 10; selected by the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers in the first round (No. 3 overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft
College: Ohio State
Acquired: Signed with Bills on 3/13/2025

 366.
 367.
Financial situation (per Spotrac): Bosa signed a one-year deal for $12.61 million. It’s almost fully guaranteed, as the Bills will carry a dead-cap charge of $12 million thanks to the guarantees if they release him. Bosa’s cap hit for the season is just $5.32 million. That’s because the contract includes four void years at cap hits of $7.2 million (2026) and $1.8 million (2027-2029).

 368.
 369.
2024 Recap: Bosa played in as many games last season (14) as he did during the 2022 and 2023 seasons combined. After establishing himself as one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers, notching 58 sacks in his first 78 games, a litany of injuries has kept Bosa from playing at his best. He suffered a core muscle injury in 2022 that required surgery and caused him to miss most of the regular season. Then, during the 2023 season, he missed time with a hamstring strain, a broken toe on his left foot, and a right foot sprain.

 370.
 371.
Last year, he missed three games with what the team termed a hip injury, but what Bosa called a glute strain. In spite of the injury, Bosa was named to his fifth Pro Bowl in 2024. He totaled 5 sacks, 22 tackles, five tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles. He had two tackles, one quarterback hit, and one sack in the Chargers’ 32-12 playoff loss to the Houston Texans.

 372.
 373.
Positional outlook: Bosa is one of eight edge rushers on the current roster. Nelson Ceaser, Landon Jackson, Greg Rousseau, Paris Shand, Michael Hoecht, A.J. Epenesa, and Javon Solomon are the others.

 374.
 375.
2025 Offseason: Bosa is healthy and participating in practices this offseason. He saw limited action in Buffalo’s preseason matchup with the New York Giants, but did not play in the blowout loss at the Chicago Bears.

 376.
 377.
2025 Season outlook: Should he remain healthy, Bosa will add an element to Buffalo’s pass rush that they thought they had when they signed veteran Von Miller ahead of the 2022 season. Of course, that element was there when Miller was healthy, but after he tore his ACL in November 2022, Miller wasn’t the same player. The Bills are hopeful that Bosa, who is three years younger than Miller was when he signed that mega-contract, can provide enough pass-rush juice in year one to push the team to a Lombardi Trophy.

 378.
 379.
Buffalo can roll out plenty of disruptive combinations of four down linemen with the personnel they project to have. Bosa, Rousseau, and Epenesa can all kick inside to play a defensive tackle spot in obvious passing situations, which helps the Bills to design a “race car” personnel package of speedier defensive ends in those must-throw times.

 380.
 381.
If Bosa can play in all 17 games, it would be the first time since 2017 that he played an entire season. With that in mind, I expect that he’ll miss at least one contest during the season. The Bills are likely comfortable with that — as long as the games he misses aren’t in January.

 382.
 383.
If Bosa can help the Bills slay that big, red dragon in the Midwest, then it will all be worth it.

 407.
The Buffalo Bills just wrapped up training camp for 2025, now set to fly south for a preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The bulk of Buffalo’s starters won’t see action on Saturday night and, in fact, quarterback Josh Allen and a select few others won’t have seen a preseason snap before the regular season begins.

 408.
 409.
It’s a bit of a change in philosophy by head coach Sean McDermott, who noted that the reigning NFL MVP has proven exempt of playing exhibition football. Will this plan impact the Bills and what does FanDuel Sportsbook have to say about the team’s regular-season win total in 2025?

 410.
 411.
The Bills finished 13-4 last season in what was a dominant campaign highlighted by the franchise’s record-setting fifth straight AFC East title. A season later, Buffalo returns most of last year’s core roster in place, most significantly head coach Sean McDermott, running back James Cook, and reigning NFL MVP quarterback Josh Allen.

 412.
 413.
No matter what, it may prove difficult for Buffalo to improve on last season’s record in the face of a first-place schedule — but that was also true of the previous four seasons the Bills won the East. It remains to be seen just how good the rest of the AFC East is after Buffalo cruised to a division title with a Week 11 win in 2024.

 414.
 415.
Per the oddsmakers at FanDuel Sportsbook, there isn’t much concern about the Bills’ preseason tactics (or on-field performances). There are no current odds available below the over/under 7.5 wins, with bets available all the way up to over/under 15.5 wins. However, should the team finish anywhere near 7.5 wins, that would be seen as a massive letdown in a season where the goal remains Super Bowl or bust.

 543.
The Buffalo Bills final training camp session of 2025 proved to be a tense and concerning affair, per reports from various members of the media on August 21. Tension is building with key roster decisions just days away. Also building, appears to be Buffalo’s already lengthy list of injuries. Bills reporter Sal Capaccio shared a massive update out of the final session, noting:

 544.
 545.

 546.
“Bills CB Tre’Davious White hopped off the field on one leg today and was immediately looked at by trainers. He stood by the outside wall with them for several minutes before walking slowly (on his own, with a trainer nearby) into the locker room area. White later walked back down the tunnel towards the field where he then sat in a cart and was driven out.”

 547.

 548.
 549.
White is back with Buffalo after a difficult season away in Los Angeles and Baltimore. He remains in line to start at outside cornerback, with team’s top 2025 draft pick, rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston still recovering from an LCL sprain.

 554.
 555.
This is news that’s likely to have Bills Mafia a tad concerned, but it’s key to note that the team has provided no official word or injury diagnosis as of publishing. To that end, Joe Buscaglia with The Athletic, provided an update that gives a bit of perspective and context behind why White may have been on a cart, tweeting:

 565.
There is no clear timetable set for Hairston’s return (and his immense lack of experience to this point), so White’s situation will bear monitoring. Behind White (and Hairston), Buffalo lists Ja’Marcus Ingram and Te’Cory Couch as direct subs.

 566.
 567.
Adding potential insult to (unconfirmed) injury, is the news shared by ESPN Bills reporter Alaina Getzenberg that cornerback Christian Benford also left practice early on Thursday. Buffalo has Dane Jackson as Benford’s primary sub, with Dorian Strong (rookie), and Daequan Hardy at the back end.

 568.
 569.
The Bills also list Brandon Codrington, Zy Alexander, Tre Herndon, and Jordan Hancock (rookie, injured) at cornerback. Thankfully, it appears as though Benford is fine, and that he just needed some rest:

 755.
The Buffalo Bills have dealt with myriad injuries at the wide receiver position this summer. Truthfully, they’ve dealt with injuries everywhere, but at wideout, there seems to be a bigger issue involving players who have a good chance at making the roster this season.

 756.
 757.
As for how many receivers will make the roster, there really isn’t any way to tell that as of yet. The Bills won’t keep fewer than five, but they are unlikely to keep seven, too. With twelve receivers in camp, the competition for those final two or three spots on the roster will be intense.

 758.
 759.
Some players have contracts that indicate what the Bills think about them, but what happens when a player doesn’t live up to that contract? It creates a dilemma for the club. Do they keep a player with a bloated contract? Or do they eat some dead money and move on, allowing other players the chance to step up and earn time?

 760.
 761.
In today’s installment of “90 players in 90 days,” we discuss a receiver whose play — or lack thereof — has landed him on the roster bubble in spite of his big contract.

 762.
 763.
_____________________________________________________________________________

 764.
 765.
Name: Curtis Samuel
Number: 1
Position: WR
Height/Weight: 5’11”, 195 pounds
Age: 29 (30 on 8/11/2026)
Experience/Draft: 9; selected by the Carolina Panthers in the second round (No. 40 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft
College: Ohio State
Acquired: Signed with Buffalo on 3/14/2024

 766.
 767.
Financial situation (per Spotrac): Samuel enters the second year of the three-year, $24 million contract he signed last March. If he makes the 53-man roster, Samuel carries a cap hit for the year of $9.065 million. If he’s released, Buffalo will carry $12.085 million in dead-cap money spread across two seasons. This year, Buffalo’s dead-cap number would be $8.635 million, with the remaining amount hitting the cap next season. If he’s traded, the only dead-cap amount for the Bills is $1.725 million, or the value of his void year in 2027.

 768.
 769.
2024 Recap: Samuel dealt with turf toe for most of last season, which is a major issue for a receiver who makes his money on speed, quickness, agility, and sharpness in his cuts. Between that, learning and fitting into a new offense, and Buffalo’s general strategy of allowing every pass-catcher to eat, Samuel had one of the worst statistical seasons of his professional career.

 770.
 771.
He caught 31 passes for 253 yards and one score. Samuel saw 46 targets in the passing game. He also ran the ball five times for 14 yards. In the postseason, he looked much more comfortable, logging six catches for 81 yards and two scores on eight targets.

 772.
 773.
He played in 14 games, making two starts, as that lingering turf toe issue combined with shoulder and rib injuries caused him to miss some time in the regular season.

 774.
 775.
Positional outlook: Samuel is one of a dozen receivers competing for a spot on the 53-man roster. Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman, Elijah Moore, Tyrell Shavers, Laviska Shenault Jr., Deon Cain, Kristian Wilkerson, Grant Dubose, Stephen Gosnell, and K.J Hamler (sent to IR on 8/21) are the others.

 776.
 777.
2025 Offseason: Samuel is, once again, dealing with injury. He’s had a hamstring issue that’s hampered him for most of training camp and the offseason. Samuel has yet to appear in a preseason game, but he’s now logged two consecutive practices ahead of the final preseason game.

 778.
 779.
2025 Season outlook: While it’s unclear what the Bills will do, I think it’s clear that most fans would love for the team to find a way to move on from the oft-injured wideout and find someone more available to take his spot on the roster. That person could be Shavers or Moore, or perhaps there’s another training camp favorite of yours that you’d like to see on the roster. The biggest obstacle to that, of course, is Samuel’s contract, which makes trading him even more difficult than his light stat line from last season.

 780.
 781.
Would the Bills eat the dead-cap hit and just move on, leaving them with a receiver group that likely consists of Shakir, Palmer, Coleman, Moore, and Shavers, with perhaps one other player (Shenault Jr., for example) as either a special teams ace or a game-day inactive? It’s certainly possible, and head coach Sean McDermott said as much when he noted that the team has a good idea of who the top three receivers are, but they don’t yet know who the next three could be. If we assume that the top three is Shakir, Coleman, and Palmer, that leaves Samuel in the “next” group fighting for roster space.

 782.
 783.
Buffalo could choose to keep seven receivers, including Samuel, if they’re comfortable with their depth elsewhere. They could also cut it smaller and keep only five, but given that they aren’t completely sure about Shakir’s availability as he works back from a high ankle sprain, that feels risky (in general, I also think that five receivers is too few). Six feels like the sweet-spot where they can keep adequate depth while also building a receiver room with diverse skill sets. In that scenario, Samuel is likely in a group that includes Moore, Shavers, Shenault Jr., and Wilkerson fighting for two or three spots on the roster.

 784.
 785.
If I were a gambler, I would bet heavily on general manager Brandon Beane calling around and shopping Samuel in a pick-swap situation. I would also bet on most teams not biting, preferring instead to wait it out and see if the Bills cut the veteran rather than giving up an asset for him.

 786.
 787.
The most likely scenario is that Samuel makes the team, doesn’t play up to the value of his contract, and is released in February of 2026. Even if he doesn’t play to the value of a $9 million receiver, he can still create plenty of separation at all three levels when he’s healthy.

 788.
 789.
I know, I know — the last part of that sentence is the key element. Is it worth releasing a player who showed that he could still be useful last postseason to save $430,000 this season? I don’t think so. I also don’t think Samuel’s presence on the roster takes away snaps from a player like Shavers, who has flashed this offseason. Given Samuel’s contract, if the Bills can’t find a trade partner, the best course of action might be to keep him and see how the season goes.

The Bills released rookie kicker Caden Davis who they signed to play the first two preseason games, and it’s highly unlikely that running-back-turned-emergency-kicker Ray Davis is their plan for the future (despite his insistence that he can hit field goals from 40-plus yards).

 882.
 883.
Alec Anderson had a scope on his knee unrelated to anything that took place in training camp. Khalil Shakir has a high ankle sprain, but is expected to be ready to go Week 1. Connor McGovern tweaked a hamstring last Friday, but said he could have played on Saturday if it was a regular-season game. Javon Solomon developed a wrist injury on Wednesday, August 20. Tylan Grable was in concussion protocol, and Taylor Rapp has already returned to practice after missing some work earlier in August.

 884.
 885.
The only real concerns here — and they are big concerns – are Curtis Samuel, Cole Bishop, Max Hairston, and Dalton Kincaid. Samuel spent much of last season struggling to return from a preseason toe injury. Now again this season, he hasn’t had a productive or healthy training camp. Bishop missed last preseason with a collarbone injury. This year it’s his quad. In fact, McDermott made mention about his lack of availability in a recent press conference, and on Wednesday, defensive coordinator Bobby Babich said that he was “seeing progress, maybe delayed progress” in regard to Bishop’s development as a safety.

First-round draft pick Maxwell Hairston suffered a right knee LCL sprain on July 29. The rookie cornerback escaped what, at first, appeared to be a season-ending ACL injury during a non-contact, tackling dummy drill. Hairston has been spotted walking without the aid of crutches anymore and riding the stationary bike on the sideline at practice (albeit with a large brace on his right leg). McDermott has been non-committal in response to any type of timeline for the rookie’s return.

 886.
 887.
Then there’s Dalton Kincaid. The third-year tight end was the victim of a Rapp hit during Wednesday’s practice. No specifics were given, but Kincaid stayed down on the field a little too long. While it was reported he eventually was able to walk to the sideline, that’s where he stayed. He could be fine. But he also could be banged up. Last year, Kincaid was sidelined with a knee injury, and he has yet to make the impact as a target for Josh Allen in the way many were expecting. If Kincaid misses time, or plays through another injury, he may find himself mired in the “less than expected” category of general manager Brandon Beane’s draft picks.

 908.
 909.
Edefuan Ulofoshio was one of several names McDermott rattled off after Tuesday’s practice as having a new injury. The 2024 fifth-round draft pick has an injured toe. Not great news for a guy who was only active for four games his rookie season and is in a room with depth the likes of Dorian Williams, “Buffalo Joe” Andreessen, and Shaq Thompson.

In 2024, Buffalo placed the running back on IR but designated him to return. In October, when he was healthy, the Bills released him and Evans signed with the Chicago Bears. Now, in his sixth season in the NFL, Evans will once again try to overcome an injury to hopefully play regular-season football in Buffalo.

 954.
 955.
Spector suffered a calf injury last year that had him struggling to stay in the game. After four weeks on IR, he — in an uncharacteristically McDermott move — was activated to the game-day roster the same week he was taken off IR. The result? A return to IR two weeks later.

 956.
 957.
Did the Bills activate him too soon in 2024? Possibly. Will Spector return to Buffalo at a future date? Probably. When he was released with an injury settlement, it opened the door for the Bills to bring him back once his settlement period (plus six weeks) expires. McDermott and Company seem to like the 2022 seventh-round draft pick.

 960.
 961.
Why all the injuries? Is it because head coach Sean McDermott inspires guys to play bigger than they are (insert classic Taron Johnson here)? Is it because they want it “too much” and are trying “too hard” to make the team/win the big one/earn a bonus? Is it because the team focuses a lot on health — both physical and mental — and players are in tune with how they feel? Is it because guys are “soft” as some fans would like to claim?

 962.
 963.
Regardless of the reason, there are definitely some roster concerns, some bigger questions that still need to be answered, and some names that need to be watched over the next two weeks.
