18.

Pandora bracelets offer wearers the opportunity to create their own design that is as unique as they are. The that are placed on each bracelet are sold separately and can be chosen to fit the style vision of the wearer. Placing Pandora beads on a bracelet is a simple process that takes just a bit of planning and effort. About Pandora Beads and Bracelets Pandora charm bracelets are specifically made to be used in conjunction with beads manufactured by the same company. These beads are made in a variety of designs that reflect the personality of the wearer. People who own a Pandora bracelet have the opportunity to choose the beads that best fit their personality to create a unique combination. Adding Pandora Beads to a Bracelet The process of placing Pandora beads on a bracelet is easy to complete, and the end result is a personalized bracelet. Pandora bracelets and beads can often be given as gifts to show a loved one that the gift giver knows the design preferences of the recipient. Alternatively, people can give the base Pandora bracelet as a gift and allow their friends or loved ones to choose the beads they would like. The steps for adding Pandora beads to a bracelet can then be followed to create the finished piece. 1. Evaluate Placement People who purchase several beads at once should start the process of adding beads by determining how they would like to design the bracelet. Set up the beads next to the bracelet to get the order right before starting. 2. Open the Bracelet The clasp of the bracelet can be easily opened. Avoid jerking or tugging at the ends to prevent damage.

 45.

In our final post of this three-part-series we are going to discuss proper detangling and the use of excessive heat. If you missed the previous tips, you can check out part one here, and part two here. Tip #5: Proper Detangling Proper detangling is crucial when it comes to retaining length. The best thing you can do for your child’s hair is to finger detangle before a comb or brush ever reaches those curly tresses. After washing your child’s hair, you will add your conditioner of choice (hopefully one with lots of slip!). You will begin with small sections by gently running your fingers through your child’s hair, feeling for any small knots. Gently remove them. Once you are finished finger detangling one section, you can use your wide tooth comb or Denman brush. Be sure to always start from the ends, working your way up until that section is completely detangled. Braid or twist the section and move on to the next. Never comb or brush your child’s dry hair unless it has already been completely detangled and stretched (see banding), be sure to use a moisturizer. You’d be surprised at how often people are using heat on their child’s hair. Many parents and caregivers tell me they like to blow dry their child’s hair before styling. Not only does heat weaken the hair shaft, especially if proper heat protectant is not being used, but there’s a big risk with permanently damaging your child’s curl pattern. Once this is done, the damage cannot be reversed unless the heat damaged hair is cut off. Blowdrying before styling is an unnecessary step that can easily be achieved by banding. Banding is a way to stretch the hair without the use of heat. If you must use heat, make sure you go about it the right way. Check out this post and this post for flat ironing tips. I hope you have enjoyed this three-part series on how you can help your child grow long, healthy natural hair. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting long, Rapunzel-like hair, try not to put too much emphasis on length as it could create a complex in your little one’s mind. Be mindful of what your child wants and talk to your child about healthy hair care habits. It’s never too early to learn about caring for those beautiful locks, no matter what the length.

 90.

By Guest Blogger | By Diana Charabin Years ago when I first heard of Kris Carr, I wondered how could cancer be sexy? I understood the crazy part but I was yet to understand how Kris could take something with such an opposite connotation, “cancer, ” (just saying it makes me feel a punch in the stomach) and turn it into inspiration and hope. I have had a similar experience with mala beads. For those of you who don’t know, mala beads are meditation garlands that have been worn for thousands of years in traditions of Buddhism, Hinduism, yoga and meditation. From the moment I first laid my eyes on mala beads I was extraordinarily drawn to their uniqueness and energy. It was an unexplainable attraction. I also noticed in watching a few of Kris’ videos that she frequently wears mala beads! Mala beads are traditionally used for japa meditation – reciting a positive affirmation or mantra along each bead to come into a more calming, connected and spiritual state. When I started making mala beads I wanted to take the tradition of these esoteric beads and make them accessible and “sexy.” I wanted to link mala beads to setting an intention. Because I am very interested in the healing qualities of crystals we fused mala beads with healing crystals that each have their own energy and intention. There are crystals for love, strength, prosperity, healing, break-ups, focusing, letting go, spirituality, grounding, protection and so on. Choosing an intention is only half of the process. It is just as important to choose a mala that you are visually and aesthetically drawn to. The things we find beautiful are just as important in our healing as what they are meant for – whether it is art, a beautiful beach or a set of mala beads. One common blockage I have seen people struggle with when choosing mala beads or in general is figuring out what their dream or intention should be. Ask yourself : What do I want? If you cannot answer this, ask yourself: What do I not want? This is a good starting point. There are so many ways to get clear on this: yoga, meditation, goal setting and vision boarding. Or perhaps your intention is to start making clear decisions – that is a good place to start as well. There is something powerful about wearing your intention. It makes your goal tangible at every moment of the day. Every time you look at your mala or feel it, you are reminded to stay on your chosen path. Distractions that are coming at you from all directions are averted when you have a physical object to touch and gently be taken back. I often hold my mala beads during a conversation or gaze at them in front of my mat during yoga and they remind me why I am here.

 99.

Turn a large cardboard box into a giant abacus for some fun counting and addition games with kids! Kinaesthetic learning and fun, with some motor skills mixed into the play too.We had a huge cardboard box in our house for a couple of months which we used to made scenery at Pop’s pirate party, a fishing boat for some Bible storytelling (pop on over to my other blog to see that one) and a giant train tracks small world game! Not keen to ever let a box go (much to my poor husband’s despair!) we squeezed one more use out of the other box lid. The kids gathered some string and a big box of coloured wooden beads and we designed a huge abacus for counting and maths play! These are the beads that we used and love: I simply punctured some holes in either side of the box edges, making sure they lined up, then threaded the string across and knotted on the outside. Then the children were given the task of sorting the beads into piles according to colour, then counting gout 10 of each to thread onto the strings. This is itself was a great maths game for sorting, matching and counting! We threaded 10 of each colour onto individual strings, then I pulled very tight to tighten the string and added another knot on the opposite side. All finished and ready to play! We stood the box up and wedged it tight so it couldn’t fall down, then they started to move and count the beads across the strings. The abacus was fun for each girl at her own level of development. For baby Bean it was a great motor skill to be able to reach and pull the beads across the string. We talked about colours and shapes and I counted as she touched and moved them to help her become familiar with the number names. Pop named the colours and was able to count small amounts independently and to higher numbers with my help. We practised working on 1:1 correspondence (i.e. that each object touched or moved represents one number counted.) Cakie counted them with ease and we set the challenge of adding together groups. Can you ding out how many orange and blue beads there are altogether? How about green and yellow? Is it the same amount? Why? How many are there on each string? How many are there altogether on the whole abacus? She was able to practise counting and addition to far larger numbers that she has down before and it was plenty of fun too!
