Michael Tully has been named as the ninth fire chief in the history of the Midland Fire Department. Tully, a lifelong resident of Midland, has served with distinction for more than two decades within the MFD. Since joining in 2004, he has held several key positions, from Firefighter and Engineer to Captain, Battalion Chief, and most recently, interim Fire Chief following Chief Charles Blumenauer’s promotion to Managing Director of Public Safety. “I would like to thank those who have supported and challenged me over these last 8 months,” Tully said. “I am humbled for this opportunity to serve the men and women of the Midland Fire Department. I believe we are headed in a positive direction, but there is always room for improvement based off input from leadership and most importantly the boots on the ground. Again, thank you for this opportunity to work beside the men and women of the Midland Fire Department.”

KMID-TV ABC 2 Midland

The post Michael Tully named Midland Fire Department chief appeared first on Daily Dispatch.

VIDEO: A long-treasured bit of history in Dade County has been deemed a loss after an overnight fire Wednesday. The Frye House, which is currently known as the site of Valley Venues, was hit by fire and despite the efforts of multiple firefighting agencies, was left severely damaged. The roof of the building caved in as a result of the fire, with gaping holes visible. A post from Dade County government on their Facebook page mourned the loss of the building, noting the sad news and thanking firefighters for their efforts. Various mutual aid groups assisted in fighting the blaze, including Chattanooga’s ladder truck, with a request for Walker County Fire, DeKalb County, Jackson County, and McKemore Fire.

WRCB-TV NBC 3 Chattanooga

The post Historic home in Dade County appears to be total loss after fire appeared first on Daily Dispatch.

VIDEO: Fountain residents will soon have a new fire station. The nearly $3.6 million project will go to building the Fountain Community Center right off Highway 20. The 10,000 square-foot brick facility will replace the condemned East Hiland Fire Station. We are told this project will strengthen emergency response in the area. The fire station will be part of a larger Fountain Community Center. “We’ve been working on this for the last four to five years, and we’ve been able to get the funds approved through USDA funds as well as other funds,” said Bay County Commissioner Doug Moore. “From that, we’re gonna be able to build this new complex.

Over a dozen people are displaced, and two people are in the hospital after a fire broke out at a north Phoenix apartment early Wednesday morning. According to Phoenix Fire, around 8:30 a.m., crews received reports of a fire at the Enclave at Paradise Valley apartments, located near Paradise Village Parkway and Tatum Boulevard. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the first and second floor, with the flames extending to the third floor. Crews quickly upgraded the response to a first alarm “due to the fire’s size and complexity,” investigators said. Two people, including a 2-year-old, were able to escape the flames.
