32.

So… you’re shopping around for car insurance. What do you think you need to know? Well, there are lots of things most people ask me when they come into my office. Here’s a few answers to some questions you probably have.1. Will My Rates Go Down When My Policy Renews? – Most of our clients believe insurance rates are based on tenure with an insurance company. There is some truth to that, as most insurance companies have discounts available, but those discounts usually don’t kick in until you’ve been with the same company for 3 to 5 years. Rates are based on a variety of factors, such as how long it’s been since you’ve had a ticket or accident, how long you’ve had insurance in total, and the performance of other people your company insures in your area.

 33.
Tip. Talk to your agent about what they’ve seen happen recently. Some policies come with loyalty bonuses just for renewing your policy every six months.
34. 2. How Long Do I Have Until My Policy Cancels? – Most policies have a grace period of 5 to 7 days from the due date, unless you are at your renewal. At renewal, there is no grace period and those payments must be made on time to ensure coverage is in force if you have an accident.

 35.
Tip. Make sure you know exactly how long your grace period is. Talk to your agent so you know you’re covered at all times. To avoid lapses, consider setting your policy up so it’s paid by automatic bank draft. Your payments are never late, and you won’t have a lapse if you overlook your grace period.
36. 3. What Coverage Does The State Require? -Arizona currently requires Bodily Injury Liability limits of $15,000 per person / $30,000 per accident and $10,000 for property damage liability.New Mexico currently requires Bodily Injury Liability limits of $25,000 per person / $50,000 per accident and $10,000 for property damage liability.

 37.
Tip. If you have anything to lose, I hope you aren’t relying on the State to save you. Talk to your agent about what is really right for you and your family.
38. 4. How Long Do Tickets and Accidents Stay On My Insurance Record? – Tickets usually stay on your insurance record for 3 to 5 years, depending on what you were cited for. Speeding and other minor violations usually stay out there for 3 years. DUI’s and other Major violations can stay on your insurance record for 5 years or more! Accidents, including ones that weren’t your fault, can stay on your record for the same 3 to 5 years, depending on the insurance company you are with.

 39.
Note. To get detailed information on your policy, ask your agent.
40. 5. When Do I Have To Add My Children As Operators on My Policy? – If your young one is licensed to operate a motor vehicle, you should add them to your policy immediately upon being licensed. Once your insurance company is able to run Motor Vehicle Reports on their license, add them. This is the only way to make sure they are covered drivers on your policy. Many people are worried about the additional investment of adding their children to their insurance properly. Simply consider the cost of not doing so. An uncovered liability loss where another person is injured could easily be financially devastating, even if the injuries to the other person are minor. Health care costs have tripled in the last 10 years, and a visit to the ER could leave you with a bill in the tens of thousands of dollars.

 41.
Tip. If your child has a B average or better and is still in school, most insurance companies offer a heafty discount that could save you hundreds of dollars a year when you add your child to your policy.
42. 6. If I Let Someone Borrow My Vehicle, Are They Covered Under My Policy? – Let’s say you let Uncle Bob use your pick-up to go to the city and pick up a refrigerator. If Uncle Bob has your permission to drive the vehicle AND he has a valid driver’s license, he’ll be covered under your insurance for the vehicle you allow him to use.

 43.
Tip. As a general rule, most anyone you allow to use your vehicle temporarily will be covered – unless their license is suspended, revoked, or otherwise invalid.
44. 7. I Recently Got Divorced. Can I Remove My Ex From My Policy? – Auto insurance companies are regulated by the State. Most all States are all common law States. It is illegal for your insurance company to remove your ex-spouse without their express consent. Insurance companies always require a signature from the ex-spouse to remove them from your policy. If your ex refuses to sign themselves off your policy, most insurance companies will allow you to Split-off of your existing policy to start one of your own, leaving the spouse unaffected on the original policy you established together.

 45.
Tip. Make sure you are on speaking terms with your ex to make life a lot simpler for you.
46. 8. What is the Difference Between Preferred (Standard) and Non-Standard Insurance Companies? – Generally, most major insurance companies have two different sub-companies: a Preferred, or Standard, company they put all the good risks into, and a Non-Standard company for the bad risk drivers. It is usually easy to qualify for a Preferred company if you have a good driving record and a history of continual insurance in your name. For those who have bad driving records, accidents, or don’t have insurance within the last 30 days in their name – it is almost impossible to get into a Preferred insurance company. That’s why most major insurance companies have a Non-Standard company they can place those risks in until they can qualify for the Standard or Preferred company

 47.
Fact. Rates can really vary from Standard to Non-Standard companies. If you’re placed into a Non-Standard company, expect to pay more for the next couple of years.
48. 9. Why Do Insurance Companies Use My Credit To Rate My Policy? – The banks have been so successful with credit scoring models that many companies simply can’t overlook the value of running a credit report any longer. Most major insurance companies will ask to run a credit report on you when you apply for insurance because there is a direct correlation between credit risk and insurance risk. Statistics have shown that those drivers with a good credit rating are less likely to file a claim – and if they do, the severity of the claim will be relatively low. On the other side of that coin: if a driver has a poor credit rating, statistically the frequency and severity of claims filed goes way up.

 49.
Fact. Many insurers now use your credit history as a major factor in determining what to charge you for auto insurance. In some cases, with some companies, you could save money by shifting your business to an insurer that uses credit as a rating factor – even if you have a so-so or poor driving record. There is another side to this coin. If you have a poor credit history, you could save money by moving your auto insurance to a company that does not use credit as a rating factor. Many insurers do not use credit as a factor.

 50.
Tip. Regardless of your credit status, you should talk to your agent to make sure you have the best situation given your credit record, good or bad.
51. 10. I See The Commercials On T.V. About Getting Money Back and “Vanishing Deductibles”. Is it really worth it?More and more companies are offering Bonuses for safe drivers or rebates toward your next renewal if you don’t have any accidents or get any tickets during that time. You must opt-in to these benefits, as there are usually extra costs associated with them.As for the “vanishing” deductibles, I’d always stick with a deductible you can afford. If you set your deductibles up at $1,000, and you don’t have that in the bank right now, purchase lower deductibles. The last thing you want to do is park the car and save up your deductible before you can have it repaired. These bells and whistles typically cost more than policies without them. Good, sound coverage discussions should never revolve around the extras you can get on a policy. Once you’ve got the basics covered, then look to see what else is appealing you may want.Whatever your driving record or coverage needs, you should let an experienced insurance professional show you what coverage options are available to you AND how they benefit you. They will be able to explain what’s in it for you. After all, that’s what you really want: Coverage that will actually help you when you file a claim. There are literally thousands and thousands of coverage options from hundreds and hundreds of insurance companies. We know it can get confusing. That’s why agents are here to help you chose the right package option and coverages that are right for you and your family.

 67.

For the qualified graphic designer, there are numerous career options as a result of the increasing demand for those gifted in the creative spectrum. Business and institutions all over the world are attempting to differentiate themselves, create brand awareness and a loyal following of customers. The development of brand messages, images and logos appears as a clear and proven approach to achieve these goals. With the advent of the internet and increasing demand from consumers to search for, and purchase, products online; as well as utilise the web for entertainment and recreational purposes; consumers are demanding higher levels of interactivity and multimedia content. The services of experienced graphic designers are again in high demand because of this. The term ‘graphic design’ encompasses a range of occupations and specialisations, including art and creative directors, layout artists, logo design, flash designers, illustrators, Photoshop editing, multimedia designer, web designer and brand identity design. As mentioned previously, because of the need for commercial enterprises to create a competitive edge in the marketplace, many are turning to graphic designers, specialising in the creative design of brand identities and logos.Brand identity is primarily concerned with the visual aspects of an organisations brand, which forms the key visual element that provides instant recognition of the business, the range of products and services offered by the company, along with the principles and ethics it incorporates in the course of business practice. An organisations brand identity provides the visual representation of the business through a range of creative principles, images and logo design. These are then communicated to the marketplace through a range of communicative and marketing tools, such as signage, business cards, websites, offline and online advertisements, packaging and promotions. With the competitive nature of the business world encouraging innovation and forward thinking, the application of brand identity messages will continue to evolve. One of the most vital elements of brand identity is the company logo. This is a graphically designed symbol or image, which utilises unique typeface, font, shapes, colours and backgrounds to distinguish the business from others. The logo is often what attracts the customer to your business and keeps them coming back.Even though a career in graphic design provides you with numerous options of specialisation and a secure career pathway, to qualify for the roles requires the acquisition of a specific set of skills; ones that can only be obtained through the completion of a graphic design course. When considering the specific education institution, make sure they have experience in delivering the graphic design course that will allow you to take the next step in your chosen profession.

 83.

Within this article on debt consolidation loans, there will be a discussion as to what a debt consolidation loan is as well as the pros and cons of using this versus other forms of loans to help you pay off your debt. Debt consolidation loans are especially good for when you need to consolidate credit card debt. Many people are able to get themselves into debt to find that they struggle to get themselves out of this particular situation. This article will help you decide whether or not debt consolidation loans will be for you as well as other ways in which you can manage your debt. When to Use Debt Consolidation LoansDebt consolidation loans are often used to consolidate all your debts into one single payment. The reason many people will look at doing this is to reduce the headache of having many different payments every month.People will also do this so that they can see the total amount of their debt along with how much of their debt is being paid off every month. This can have good effects as well as bad effects and the next paragraph will focus upon the bad effects that can come from having debt consolidation loans. The bad effects of debt consolidation loans are that many people see great interest rates for these loans but are not explaining that these rates which are offered often do not apply to people with high debt loads. These interest rates usually opt for people with stellar credit who have little to no debt.Falling Into The Debt Trap…Again!Debt consolidation loans can also encourage new debt to get as many people who take on a debt consolidation loan tend to find themselves in a similar situation within two to five years. This paragraph will focus upon the good effects of debt consolidation loans. Debt consolidation loans can be very good for you because you are able to see all of your debts within one place. Many individuals who have struggled with that do not realize how much debt that they have. When a person takes on debt consolidation loans, he or she is taking a step to try to manage their debt and this is something that many people are unwilling to do.You can look beyond debt consolidation loans as an option as well. If you find that most of your debt is encompassed by credit cards, you could look at consolidating much of that debt onto a 0% credit card. I love to recommend this option as an easy solution for people looking to consolidate credit card debt. The money which you have to pay in interest on a debt consolidation loan could be applied to the principal on your credit card. This will help you pay off your debt much more quickly.Hopefully this article on debt consolidation loans has given you more information to help you make a decision when working on consolidating debt.A debt consolidation loan can be very positive for you but it can also have negative ramifications so you must weigh the pros and cons before deciding upon this route.Good luck in working towards developing a debt consolidation plan and getting a debt consolidation loan. Just remember that the sooner you start, the sooner you will be finished. The key is to learn as much as possible about the options that are available to you, sort out which debt repayment options are best for you and take action…today!

 99.

A great social media manager is, as Ron Burgundy would say: “The balls”.It’s an undisputed fact that every business needs to be active in social media. The ever-changing demands of the modern day consumer requires brands to think fast and adapt quickly in order to stay one step ahead. The role of a social media manager has appealed to the mass generation of socially-active internet users. It’s hard not to. Especially when some might think that you can earn big bucks from posting Facebook updates. Hardly.Being a social media manager is kind of like being a stand-up comedian. You have to quickly understand your audience and your engagement with them is vital. In order to accomplish this, you need to know if the audience is laughing at your jokes and you need to know this in real-time. If you can do this, then you have already won the crowd. So, how do you become a social manager? More to the point, how do you become a great social manager? The answer will be surprising to some. Firstly, you have to want it. Second, you have to love it. Third, you have to learn it. And even if you tick all these boxes, you should ask yourself: “Am I a social person?” If the answer is no, then becoming a social media manager is probably not for you…So let’s take a look at the stats.

 100.
LinkedIn shows 57,910 results for “social media manager”

 101.
Social media has now overtaken porn as the number 1 activity on the web

 102.
97% of all consumers search for local businesses online

 103.
71% of consumers receiving a quick brand response on social media say they would likely recommend that brand to others

 104.
93% of marketers use social media for business

 105.
In terms of difficulty of execution, nearly half (49%) of B2B marketers put social media marketing at the top, followed by content marketing (39%), SEO (26%) and mobile (25%)

 106.
77% of B2B marketers use a blog as part of their content marketing mix

 107.
On average, 25% of marketing budgets are now spent on content development, delivery and promotion

 108.
78% of small businesses attract new customers through social sites

 109.
When asked to rank their company’s social business maturity on a scale of 1 to 10, more than half of global business executives gave their company a score of 3 or belowBut the statistic that is most relevant to this article is:

 110.
Just 12% of those using social marketing feel they actually use it effectively.Being a social media manager brings with it some key benefits within a freelance setting. The most recognisable being the fact that you are your own boss. You make the decisions and answer to no one. You send the invoices and you set the policies. Heck, you could sit in your underpants all day on the computer if you wanted to.The other is money. It is an in-demand role, but one that companies are still struggling to come to terms with. Some companies realise and understand the value social media could bring to their enterprise and are willing to invest heavily in robust social media campaigns. Being your own boss, you can decide how to set your costs and price accordingly.Another attractive reason is the low barriers to entry. With low start-up costs and plenty of online resources (like this one!) to rapidly decrease the learning cure, anyone can launch a freelance social management business within a short space of time.I’ll tell you my story shortly but first, let’s explore the essential skills you’ll need to become a great social media manager..Fundamental Skills:Marketing KnowledgeYou should have a good grasp of the basic marketing principles. Some education in marketing would be beneficial, but otherwise you can find many quality resources online.ExperienceYour experience doesn’t necessarily have to be limited to life experiences. Have you managed your own social media profiles for a while? Do you know how to effectively maintain your own social accounts and understand what clients expect?SociableI touched on this at the beginning of the article. If you are not a sociable person – someone who doesn’t like communicating much and isn’t very outgoing, then becoming a social media manager just isn’t for you. Sure, you can hide behind a keyword and monitor for a while, but clients will usually want to meet, speak on the phone, or have Skype sessions at some point.Project ManagementYou don’t have to have a Prince2 certificate, but you do need to be able to manage projects and your time well. It’s typical for social media manager’s to work with multiple clients at any one time. Keeping tabs on everything is important so that it doesn’t get overwhelming.TechnologicalSocial media exists online. Therefore, you need to have a certain degree of computer literacy. Having good knowledge of social technology will enhance your services and ensure you are keeping up to date with the latest social trends and developments.Interpersonal Skills:CommunicationIt kind of goes without saying that if you’re going to be representing a company and engaging with their customers, then you will need to have strong communication skills.PersonalityCompanies tend not to want to hire people with no personality to act on behalf of their brand. It doesn’t resonate well with them, or their audiences.ResponsivenessI’ve touched on this a few times – social media is very fast-paced. Imagine if one of your social assignments was largely focused on customer service and you didn’t respond to customer complaints or queries for weeks. People online want rapid responses. Being able to fulfil these needs can stand your client (and you!) in good stead.EntrepreneurialTo become a social media manager in a freelance capacity, you have to be a self-starter. You should be willing to go the extra mile and take a few financial risks along the way. If you don’t land a job that pays enough in one month, how will this affect you?MultitaskingA great social media manager must be able to effectively carry out a wide range of tasks.OrganisationYou should always be very well organised when delivering social media management services. I use all kinds of traditional tools like calendars, white boards and task lists to keep myself organised. I also use many online organisational tools, such as: Thunderbird for accessing all my email accounts in one place, Dropbox to easily share documents with clients and bookmarks to keep track of all the websites I frequently visit.Strategic ThinkingBeing able to think campaigns through before they happen and sometimes thinking outside the box when needed, are great asset to have as a social media manager. Clients tend to want to know how you will do something before letting you do it, so being able to present a clear and concise strategy is essential.Flexible (with travel)Contrary to popular belief, a freelance social media manager has to leave his office sometimes! If this is a problem for you, then you should think about starting another profession. Nearly every sizeable project I undertake involves multiple meetings with the client. You should have reasonable pitching skills, as you may be required to sell your services face to face too, before being hired. You may even opt to take on in-house work.Wider Skills:CopywritingEvery good social media manager is a great writer. Writing forms the foundations of many aspects of online marketing, be it creating ads, writing blogs, engaging with customers, scripting sales copy or writing press releases.Graphic DesignPretty much all social media platforms provide the functionality to customise the interface and incorporate your own branding. If you are sharp with Photoshop (or similar design software), then you are in a good position to offer these services as part of your social media package. Similarly, creating content such as infographics, banners or images is standard practise for a social media manager.AdvertisingEvery social media manager should have sound knowledge of advertising. Be it Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising or banner advertising, you should know the ins and outs of each discipline and understand how to optimise each format.PRPublic relations is closely tied to social media marketing, in the sense that both involve managing the spread of information between a business and the public. You may start out not needing to have a deep knowledge of PR, as it is typically managed by larger brands who have an interest in persuading stakeholders, investors or the public to maintain a certain point of view.StatisticalEverything in marketing should be measured. You should periodically measure and analyse your social marketing performance and produce reports to your clients to demonstrate your value.SEOUnderstanding how social media affects search engine optimisation will ultimately improve campaign performance. In 2012, there was an average of 5,134,000,000 searches on Google every day. If you think SEO doesn’t matter to your social activities, think again.Traditional MarketingEven though you generally won’t be involved in traditional marketing practises while undertaking a social media management role, you should understand how both forms of marketing affect each other and how each can be best leveraged to complement the other.Video EditingThis will probably be the least used of your wider skills, but nevertheless it can assist you in your social marketing positions. I’ve had a few clients that required presentations or demonstration videos to be edited before being used within their social media campaigns. I’m for sure no expert, but having a reasonable level of knowledge in using Windows Movie Maker (or similar video editing software) can turn that video file straight from the camera into a beautiful, YouTube-ready video.Even if you possess all the necessary skills to become a social media manager, there is still scope to improve your services by using different social tools and software. I’ll quickly recap on two different pieces of software I use that may help you in becoming a great social media manager:

 111.
Hootsuite: I wrote an in-depth review of Hootsuite on my blog that also includes a video tutorial which should provide all the information you will need to know about Hootsuite.

 112.
BuzzBundle: This is my favourite and most valued piece of software I’ve ever used. I use it mainly to find keywords around my content subject from across a huge range of blogs, forums and social sites and stream all this information back to me in one interface. I can then see who is discussing my topic and jump straight into the conversations to add my two cents. What You’ll Be Expected To Do… So, what does a social media manager actually do? As you can probably tell by now, the role of a social media manager is diverse. It’s not a case of “Well, I post updates to Facebook.” Here are a few general activities that social media managers will be expected to execute:StrategyYou will be required to formulate campaign and platform specific strategies that meet the business objectives. You will create actions plans, content calendars, set metrics and KPIs, undertake various research activities and perform different types of analysis.Content CreationContent creates the foundations of any marketing campaign. How you decide to execute your campaigns will depend on the different forms of content you produce. As you would have no doubt already heard from someone, content is king. Believe them.Community ManagementManaging accounts also means managing communities. You should be the go-to person when representing brands in social domains and continually reach out and engage with your audiences. You will need to constantly strengthen social relationships in order to develop long-lasting followers.Audience BuildingMarketing to the same people over and over will not widen your scope and social reach. You should be increasing readership and your level of influence within your target audiences.Customer ServiceMany companies use social media as an instant channel for customer service. You will have to be responsive and helpful in your social activities, regularly being the first point of contact. You will be representing the brand and managing their customer perceptions.MeasurementEvery effort that consumes investment will need to be measured and analysed. I’vve previously written tutorials that demonstrate how you can set up your Google Analytics account on my blog.ReportingOnce your efforts have been measured and analysed, your clients will want to understand how their investment has performed. This can take the form of visual aids for meetings or digital reports. Reporting is a key ingredient of any social media manager in order to prove your worth and demonstrate the value you have added to the business. How I Became A Social Media ManagerI’ve been active in social media since July 2007. This was before the time of all the latest social marketing tools and software that nowadays are ingrained into all social marketers everyday life. Resources or tutorials weren’t as widely available that could help speed up the learning curve.I did find an online course that looked pretty good in teaching me how to turn my social skills that I had been practising on my own accounts into a fully fledged business. I invested £600 on this online course to learn the basics and now that some years have passed, I can look back and say the value wasn’t all that great, but the ideas were there. It pushed me to think outside the box and motivated me to start my trajectory towards becoming a social media manager. So before I had decided to turn my love for social media and networking into a freelance opportunity, I attended Brunel University where I completed my BSc and MSc in Business Management. It was at this time when I jumped on board with the poker boom and started playing online cash games and tournaments. Poker really helped me to develop my own time management, money management and analysis skills. I always knew I wanted to start my own business so this was a good platform to get my feet wet. Throughout my time playing poker, I was always engaged in online social discussions and even wrote a few guest posts for poker sites. Before I knew it, I was a fully-fledged freelance social media manager…So to kick-start my freelance social media work, I joined a bunch of freelance sites like Elance, oDesk and Freelancer. I still use some of them today. After a few years of freelancing on small one-off projects and developing my social marketing acumen, I was hired by an online business services company to run their social media campaigns, as well as handle all their own clients social marketing campaigns. I still work with them today, which just shows the power of forging good working relationships.I managed to attract clients in most months for the next few years and each project ended up being pretty diverse from the next. This allowed me to develop wider skills that I have since found almost a necessity in order to provide a well-rounded social media marketing service. I mentioned some of these wider skills required to become a great social media manager towards the middle of this article.I also kept maintaining and building my own social media profiles. It’s important to practise what you preach and showcase your expertise on your own domains. My social profiles have regularly attracted clients, which keeps work coming in and builds up my networking potential.I have been writing on my blog for a few years, but only recently updated my site. My own social activities also serve to build traffic to my sites, where I generate passive income. I like to “listen” to the social environment and engage with people who are already looking for my content. This serves well in building and strengthening connections, as well as attracting targeted traffic.I have also been a keen guest blogger. I believe that writing articles for other relevant blogs only serves to increase your scope and exposure. Once or twice, I have had my articles featured by online magazines and publications, which was always nice.Keeping my ears to the ground and getting myself ‘out there’ was one of the things I promised myself I would do, even though I knew the vast majority of my time would be spent in my home office. I tried to regularly meet up with business connections and clients to make sure they could match an online persona to a real life face. The vast majority of the time, I even managed to remember my business cards!A strategy I’ve always tried to employ while freelancing is to try and turn one client into three. What I mean by that is word of mouth is the most powerful advertising there is. People do act on solid recommendations that their friends make. I found that taking as basic an approach as asking clients at the end of projects if they knew anyone who could benefit from social media marketing, worked out surprisingly well.As social media is such a dynamic environment with start-ups booming and busting every few months, I knew that it was essential to keep up to date with social developments. Every so often, a client would ask me to set up profiles or campaigns on sites that some social media managers would have never heard of. Keeping tuned in enabled me to have at least some knowledge and experience in using these platforms, which dramatically lowered my learning curve and ultimately lead to better performing campaigns.Around a year and a half ago, I decided to broaden by service offerings and set up a web design company with my business partner. “Thinking Forwards” was born in the summer of 2012. Websites and social media go hand-in-hand, so this enabled me to up-sell my services both ways.So that brings me loosely to where I am now. Just to be clear; I have never used paid advertising or SEO for my own benefit while being a social media manager. My progression came solely through content marketing and guerrilla marketing tactics. To Summarise On How I Became A Social Media Manager:

 113.
Joined freelance sites

 114.
Practised what I preached and actively maintained my own social media profiles and blogs

 115.
Kept consistently networking and building my contact lists

 116.
Continually created my own content on my own sites

 117.
Took my content straight to prospects

 118.
Proactively kept asking if people needed my assistance

 119.
Guest blogging and featured articles

 120.
Attended networking events and met up with clients and business contacts

 121.
Tried to turn one client into three

 122.
Kept up to date with new social networks and developments

 123.
Started other initiatives where social media services were complementary

 124.
Never turned down any work or networking opportunities

 125.
Worked long hours, sometimes for small rewards, to build reputation, authority and presenceI thought I would leave you with some final advice from things I have learnt from my own experiences being a social media manager.Remember that…

 126.
Sometimes you won’t be right for a project, even if you think you are

 127.
It’s OK to work for less than your desired amount, if the benefits warrant it

 128.
You won’t win every contract, so don’t beat yourself up if you get turned down

 129.
Things change really quickly in social media, so you will have to continually adapt

 130.
You never know as much as you think you do!Starting a career in anything takes time and effort. If you think it’s easy to become a great social media manager, then think again…I wish you all the best in your future endeavours!

 146.

Have you lost your energy and your spunk that you used to rely on to get you going? Instead, do you often feel down and out like you just don’t feel like doing anything? Well there are two likely culprits. You could be mildly (or even more) depressed or down and out because you are not happy with how your life is going or where you are at in your life right now. This could even be causing you to get less exercise which contributes to the “not feeling like doing anything” issue. The second likely cause is that your physical body is getting clogged and filled with toxins accumulated over the years. This can cause the body’s organs to have to overwork trying to get the intended vitamins and nutrients from the food you eat or in trying to filter the toxins. The solution is simple, yet not widely known. ‘Body detoxifications’ or ‘colon cleansings’ are ways to cleanse you body and system and to renew yourself and your body. This can make you feel better and can help get you out of the “funk” you might be feeling. Make a conscious decision to improve the health of your body and your mind. Take a little time to focus on “you.” Focusing on renewing your body and your spirit are ways to get back that energetic and happy feeling again! There are many ways you can detoxify and cleanse the body. You can begin the process by increasing your normal intake of healthful liquids – like water, fruit juice and tea combined with reducing and limiting your intake of certain foods that are not as healthy for you. Oh, and make sure it is filtered and pure water you drink or that you use to make your tea or mix with juice. Our bodies are made up of over 70% water – so simple logic tells you how important it is to our health and wellness. Just the drinking of more water on a regular basis will help your body cleanse harmful toxins from your body more regularly. How much should you drink? The answer really depends on each person. A person’s size and weight is important in determining the amount of water to be consumed. A heavier person should definitely drink proportionately more water.Fruit juices and tea can also be helpful – juice provides your body with needed vitamins and nutrients – and both help in cleansing your system. There are many varieties of teas readily available in the supermarket and tea is very rich in antioxidants which can help your body eliminate free radicals that may cause cancer in the body. For teas lovers, a nice cup or glass of tea is a form of relaxation and a way of detoxifying your body all rolled into one.Another critical part of the best body detoxification processes is a good colon cleansing. Once the colon has been cleansed properly, the body will begin to absorb more easily the vitamins and minerals from the food you eat. It is also important during your body detoxification and colon cleansing to avoid consuming processed foods with lots of manufactured additives and preservatives. Eating as much nutrient rich, fiber filled food as possible and eliminating or reducing the consumption of foods that are made with preservatives or are high in fat and sugar is important in the cleansing process. You should always eat food in as close to its natural form as possible. It will do wonders for the body and allow your system to better absorb and use the nutrients in the food – and the food will contain more of their original natural vitamins and minerals when they are closer to their natural form.To further boost your detoxification and rejuvenation experience, eat more brown rice. Brown rice contains a lot of B vitamins. Did you know that these vitamins are known to be stress reducers? Brown rice is also very rich in fiber which is very beneficial to the digestive system and can also help you eat less of other foods by making you feel full from the fiber. Not only should you watch what you are eating but you should also watch what you are thinking, saying and focusing your attention on. Your mind and your body are all part of the same system. Changing your thoughts will change how you feel. Replace any negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Think about what you do want, not what you don’t want. Other ideas: Go on a weekend getaway or trip, reward yourself with a trip to a spa – even a day spa, or enjoy getting a massage which will help relax your mind along with your muscles. Anything you like to do to pamper yourself. Clear your mind of the clutter of thinking of things that might be bothering or troubling to you. This will help reduce stress as well as help you relax. Anything you do to help your spirit will in turn help your body.So you can see that to get a true full “healthy body detoxification” you must focus on treating not just you physical body, but your mind and soul as well. Your physical body is affected negatively by high stress in your mind, so ignoring your mind and spirit will leave you without the full positive effects that you could experience.Begin to enjoy a more relaxed and healthy lifestyle. By following these simple ideas and recommendations you can not only help your body to heal but also your soul!

 162.

Music therapy is one of several healing art forms that is progressively gaining prominence and a place among complementary mind, body, spirit therapies offered in hospitals in the United States. Music as a healing art has been around for eons and now there are research reports that document its effectiveness and benefits.Music has been a part of cultures and societies throughout history. It may have been in the form of drumming, chanting, toning and musical instruments of the time. Shamans, medicine woman and man, tribal sweat lodge singings, initiation ceremonies and funerals used music to promote healing and a smooth transition after life.BenefitsIt is, without a doubt, a beautiful, melodic form of therapy that can reduce stress and anxiety, relieve pain, lift depression and produce feelings of happiness. Music is energy and produces a flowing of inappropriate (negative effect) energy within the body, outward from the body (positive) resulting in restoration of balance and harmony.Sound waves are produced by music and they are processed in many areas of the brain which then influences the condition of the body. Thereby, bringing harmony to the body, mind, spirit and the emotions. Research has demonstrated the beneficial effects on a person’s blood pressure, muscle tension and respiratory rate.Categories of music include:1. Big Band-Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman
163. 2. Jazz-John Coltrane, Miles Davis
164. 3. Blues-B. B. King, John L. Hooker
165. 4. Ambient/New Age-Brian Eno, Halpern
166. 5. Baroque-Bach, Handel
167. 6. Classical-Beethoven, MozartListening to music one hour a day can improve learning, promote clarity of values, personal intent and creativity.Harp music (harp therapy) has been used to reduce pain, anxiety and promote relaxation.Music has the ability, according to various studies and lived experiences, to increase dopamine levels. Dopamine, a neurotransmitter, is released when there are rewards and pleasures such as music, food, sex and drugs. It is a ‘feel good’ substance, a motivator. Music for healing is pleasurable experience. The pleasure of music can distract a person from feelings of pain, lower blood pressure and reduce depression.

 184.

As a software manager, I’m responsible for a lot, I go to meetings, I run project and feature development, I interview new employees, work with my team through design meetings and yes from time to time I still do some coding to keep me honest. But at the end of the day there is one piece of my job that is the most important and if I don’t do it all others would fall by the wayside. No it’s not status reports, team meetings, enterprisey design like architecture stuff or anything else really related to technology… no it’s something much simpler – the professional growth of every member of my team… and no… this is not done through annual performance reviews. So why’s this so important? Well the hallmark of a great team is when they can execute without their manager around, that means the ship stays on course and keeps heading North, maybe making some well-thought out corrections along the way, but they get there. This is not an easy thing to do and cannot be done overnight, it involves a two things a) working with everyone as a team so everyone understands the skills that member A brings to the table and b) working with everyone individually – you know where you want your team to be and now YOU need to push them in the direction to get it done. So how do you do this?Hire the Right People
185. If you hire bad people, you WILL get bad results. That little voice going off in your head, it is little now, but if you hire this guy, the moment he screws up the first time (like maybe being 10 minutes late) that voice is going to become a blaring siren, Game Over, time to move on. Trust your gut instinct, at the end of the day you might get pressure from HR or others to just “make a hire” but at the end of the day, they are not the one that has to work with this person for a hopefully long time. Chemistry is important in an interview, some people get very nervous, what’s the best way to relax people? Get them to talk about their accomplishments, then dig in some very open-ended questions so you see how they think. Remember you are not looking for someone like you, but someone to complement your group, fill the gaps you have and bring some extra-added value to your team. At the end of an interview if you’re not willing to fight to get that guy, then you don’t really want him, so move on. But if he is a great fit for your team well then the real fun begins.Challenge Them
186. I have not many a person in my life that does not want to try something different or new at some point in their lives. People might have different thresholds for when they want to do this, but at some point they will. It is your job to get them to identify when they are getting close to that point and give them the boost they need to motivate them for the next big thing. I am constantly asking my team if they are happy with what they are working on, is there something else they want work on, etc, etc, not because I like job sharing or copious knowledge transfer but because I want them to enjoy what they are doing and I want them to keep pushing themselves to be better. If you are not challenging your team, then they’ll get bored and start looking elsewhere and then you’re done for.Give them Feedback
187. Everyone wants to know how they’re doing but what everyone doesn’t tell you is – “Hey can you tell me when I really blow it so I know not to do it next time?” Yeah sorry, no one is going to stand up and tell you that… but if you don’t tell them when they screw up they are never going to get better and really bring their game to the level you need it to be at. I’m not advocating telling someone they are a piece of garbage with no future, but if mistakes are made on a feature you gotta put them in the shoes of your customer or support group? If code blows up because it was sloppy you need to point them to it and hard – “Look I know you wanted to make it faster, but really 45 threads? That was the silver bullet here?” The key is to give them feedback in a way that you clearly indicate the bad but at the same time highlight how you know they can get there and then give them the opportunity to do it. They will get mad at you, most likely they will cross their arms when discussing it and look like they want to leave… the keepers are the ones that go away and cool off and come in on Monday with new ideas looking to get better, these are the guys you want to hold onto because you know they want it as bad as you.Back in the early days when I had just became a manager I made a massive misstep by hiring someone I knew was not a good fit, but I bowed to the pressure and hired them… six months later I sent them packing, I ignored my instinct and wasted 6 month’s of their time and mine. I can now look at every person in my group and tell you I am at a different stage of growth with all of them, some are ready for the next challenge, some are chewing on feedback and some are doing a kick-ass job day in and day out while helping others on the team grow. It goes counter to popular culture, but I’m willing to miss a few dates to see a guy work through a problem and come out the other side better for it because the next project he’s on he’ll do it better then if he never had the opportunity to try at all.

 202.

At last pets are being recognized by the Department of Transportation, airlines, airports, hotels, restaurants, and other establishments. May 13, 2009 the Department of Transportation established regulations designed to assist passengers with service animals. All airlines must make certain there are pet relief areas and airports have been instructed to work with the airlines in establishing these pet parks. Although the ruling is for service dogs most airports allow the use of the pet parks for all travelers with dogs.Note that LAX of Los Angeles World Airports has expanded their number of pet parks for its travelers. All pet parks are on the arrivals levels between Terminals 1 and 2, Terminals 3 and TBIT (Tom Bradley International Terminal), and TIBIT and Terminal 4, across from Terminals 5 and 6, and at the end of Terminal 8. The new parks all have water spouts a water bowl, doggie poop bag stand, a trash receptacle and are recognizable by the carved out doggie bone and fire hydrant. Additionally, note that you can find all current airport pet parks at http://petfriendlytravel.com.When traveling with your pet, research all airlines and hotels to see what their policies are. Also, check on pet policies at restaurants and inquire if there are boarding facilities at or near airports. A few airports and airlines have pet boarding facilities. A fairly good resource is the North American Pet Book.Aside from transportation, lodging, and dining, you should provide your pet with proper identification, medication, collars and leashes when traveling. Note that heart worm medication is important during mosquito season. Being aware of all the support that is available for you and your pet these days as it should make it easier for you to travel with your furry family member.

 232.

The more macho male pretends he has no interest in gardening or using gardening equipment. It is, however, a fact that most men do take pride in their gardens and enjoy working with both innovative tools and basic equipment. Gardening gifts for men cover the whole spectrum from the man with green fingers, to the man who just potters in the shed, to those who simply cook on the barbecue. The range of gardening presents for men available in hardware stores, garden centres and on-line can be mind boggling so it is best to choose a gardening gift for a man which is practical, affordable, appropriate to the size of your garden and which will be used by him and not simply left in the shed. The alternative of course is to choose a gift for him which is decorative or indeed a garden accessory which will complement your garden design. If the man in your life definitely is not green fingered and shows little enthusiasm to help in the garden then perhaps the ideal present for him is a hammock to relax in or a barbecue which he can be in charge of when dining al fresco. If on the other hand he is green fingered, loves the garden and appreciates gifts why not be innovative and give him a one year subscription to a well known and respected garden magazine. These are normally filled with handy tips, informative articles and stories about well known gardens and gardeners. They also display and comment on gardening gifts so perhaps he can tell you which gardening gift he would like for Christmas or his birthday. The normal range of gardening gifts are easily viewed on-line or visible in your local garden centre.Let’s look however at some more innovative gardening presents for men.• Solar powered weather station is a great gift for the gardener who likes to track local weather patterns and keep records. Many of these are quite cheap but will give min and max temperatures, humidity, wind speed and direction plus rainfall.• Birdcam as a gardening gift will give him much pleasure as he watches the birds that live in his garden and those birds who visit the garden. Birds nesting and the chicks being born is always exciting to watch.• Bin stacking worm composting system into which you firstly add the worms and then the kitchen scrapings on a daily basis.• Small chipper shredder which will handle garden debris and branches up to 3″ in diameter.• Every man would like a gardening gift of a leaf mulcher as he suddenly thinks he is Mr Action man. There are of course a whole range of accessories which make wonderful gardening gifts for the man in your life as well as making a statement in your yard. These can be items such as furniture, ornaments, garden lanterns and water features. One gift for men which is timeless is the bird table. If gardening is his absolute passion why not push the boat out and fund a trip to the Chelsea Flower Show. One thing is clear there are gardening gifts for men to suit all budgets.
