The women’s national volleyball team improved its world ranking after snapping a 30-match losing streak in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) against Thailand.

With the win, South Korea moved up six spots to No. 37 from No. 43. Portugal dropped back down two spots to 43rd, and Vietnam, which was once ranked ahead of Korea, dropped from 39th to 40th. Thailand, which lost to South Korea, dropped one spot to 14th. South Korea is ranked fourth in Asia, behind China (6th), Japan (8th), and Thailand (14th).
South Korea climbed as high as No. 14 in the world rankings in December of that year after reaching the quarterfinals of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, but plummeted to No. 40 after suffering 30 consecutive VNL losses over the next three years. The losing streak began in the final three games of the 2021 VNL and continued in 2022 (12 losses) and 2023 (12 losses). This year, they’ve lost their first three matches of the year as well.
However, the win over Thailand paved the way for them to climb the rankings. “First of all, the goal is to improve our world ranking,” said Fernando Morales, who took over the reins of the women’s team ahead of the VNL. The goal is to move up in the rankings and to be in a good position at the World Championships and <a href="http://bioimagingcore.be/q2a/user/edwardsrailcar1">Asian Games</a>,” he said. The victory over Thailand gave the team momentum.

After two seasons in the V-League, Ahmed has made it to the big leagues.

In 2022-23, he won the All-Star Game’s Serve King contest with a 117-kilometer-hit speed and became a five-time Triple Crown winner.
However, Ahmed’s career in South Korea came to an end after last season when he did not reapply for the 2024 Korea Volleyball Organization (KOVO) men’s foreign player tryouts. His choice was to play in Italy, the world’s top league.
Modena, where Ahmed will play next season, had a disappointing season last season, finishing eighth in the league and fifth in the cup competition. The team is making major changes this off-season. They’ve let go of a number of key players, including veterans Bruno Hazende (BRA) and Osmani Huantorena (ITA), and have brought in eight new faces to fill the void. Ahmed is one of them.
Of course, competition is inevitable. There are eight new faces in the squad, and Ahmed is one of them. Team Busan basketball class wins the Suwon City Sports Chairman’s Cup.
Team Busan, which opened a dedicated gym in Gangseo-gu, Busan, in April, has been at the forefront of promoting the city through the medium of basketball. The self-proclaimed ambassadors of Busan, Team Busan recently traveled to Suwon as part of its efforts to expand its reach across the country.
The team traveled to Suwon for two days and three nights, where they spent time training with elite basketball teams, taking part in daily skills training lessons, <a href="https://www.texasholdemsite.info/">텍사스홀덤</a> and competing in tournaments.

Team Busan was the only non-metropolitan team at the 2024 Suwon City Sports Chairman’s Cup Youth Basketball Tournament, where a total of six teams participated. After finishing the preliminary round as the group leader with two wins, Team Busan went undefeated in the final tournament.
Playing with players in grades 4 and 5, Team Busan showed off their superiority and finished with a sweep. With this victory, Team Busan has taken the first step toward becoming a national basketball classroom.

The Wonju DB Promy Basketball Team has signed free agent point guard Kim Si-rae, who played for the Seoul Samsung last season, to a one-year, $100 million contract.
Kim was drafted by the Ulsan Mobis in the first round in 2012 and led them to a championship as a rookie, and also won a regular season title with Kim Jong-kyu at Changwon LG. He played 36 regular-season games for the Seoul Samsung in the 2023-2024 season, averaging 6.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.

Park graduated from Sangmyung University in 2015 and joined the Ulsan Mobis before playing for the Gasworks, averaging 2.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 35 regular-season games for Daegu KOGAS in the 2023-2024 season.
“With the signing of Park Bong-jin, we strengthened our forward lineup and expected him to perform well in my perimeter defense based on his strength and determination,” DB said.
Park Bong-jin said, “First of all, I would like to thank DB for the great offer. I am looking forward to the challenge in my new team and will quickly integrate into the team under the guidance of the manager and coaches.”
After re-signing Lee Sun-albano on the 13th and Kang Sang-jae on the 14th, DB is building a more solid roster for the upcoming new season for a second consecutive title. DB re-signed Lee Sun Albano to a two-year, $195,000 after-tax contract (approximately $342.5 million before taxes) and Kang Sang-jae to a five-year, $700 million contract (including $200 million in incentives).

Albano became the first Asian Quarter player to win the MVP award at the 2023-2024 Jungkwanjang Professional Basketball Awards, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, last month, receiving 50 of the 111 total votes cast, beating out teammate Kang Sang-jae (47) by just three votes.
“Above all, I’m really grateful to DB for giving me another chance. I’m so happy to be back in Wonju with the fans who gave me so much love. I was very disappointed to lose the playoffs last season, and my goal is to do my best to win the championship for the fans in the coming season.”

Doosan Bears starting pitching prospect Kim Yoo-seong is raising his chances of returning to the first team with back-to-back strong performances in the KBO Futures League.
