103.

 104.
Electroacoustic music composer and performer, alternative electronic music instrument maker, tutor and sound technologist.

 105.

 106.
During a decade of sound performances and recordings, Tasos Stamou has developed a unique style of live electroacoustic composition. Long and continuous pieces are created on stage or in the studio using a “portable electroacoustic music studio”. His gear consists of acoustic (prepared zither, reeds, recorders, objects) and electronic instruments (handmade electronics, modular synthesizer systems and live processed feedback loops). Based on sustained tonal textures and free improvised instrumental solos, his live compositions create a particular and unique atmosphere of ritual noise.

 107.

 108.
Although mainly a solo performer and recording artist, he frequently collaborates with other sound artists, improvisers and experimentalists (such as Adam Bohman, Alan Wilkinson, London Improvisers Orchestra, Mike Cooper, Andrea Parkins, Kuupuu & Lau Nau, Terry Day, Adachi Tomomi, Ilan Manouach, Ignaz Schick, Magda Mayas, Arma Agharta, Thodoris Ziarkas, etc.) at various venues and festivals for innovative music.

 109.

 110.
He is currently leading a workshop series exploring circuit bending & hardware hacking for experimental sound production.

 324.
(UK) ➣ Power Electronics / Harsh Noise

 325.

 326.
Italian Books began as an electronic solo Harsh Noise project, a disposable show opener for a local D.I.Y. Punk gig in rural Suffolk. The experimental improvised chaos was well received, and the seeds were sewn for the more uniformed approach that followed. To date, the act has performed in a number of locations, such as music venues and small art spaces. A debut C20 cassette ‘Liquid’ was released in July 2017. Italian Books are currently performing work in progress with a new collection of tracks to be released early 2018.

 327.

 328.
Using cassette samples, synthesisers, feedback loops, and angry distorted vocals, Italian Books explores the topics of confirmation bias and the idea of progress in a seemingly ever changing world.

 376.
OF MIRTH AND MISERY

 377.
(UK) ➣ Video / Installation

 378.

 379.
Mirth and Misery is a film production company born out of the desire to produce provocative ‘art-house’ films with commercial appeal.

 380.
Tom Metcalfe studied Film Directing at EICAR – the International Film School of Paris. John Rowley studied Film Production Technology at the University of Staffordshire before working as a cinematographer in film and television.

 381.
Over the past decade, they have directed and produced numerous projects together. Their last feature film – ‘The Wick. Dispatches from the Isle of Wonder’ was released through Indieflix to excellent reviews.

 382.
“... a reminder that film can be done differently” – David Ollerton, London Film Review.

 383.
“Thrillingly unique. The sort of movie that demands someone throw a pile of money at its directors to see what they can do on an actual budget” – Jordan Ferguson, Next Projection.

 384.
‘Of Mirth and Misery’ is a feature-length film, set for production in 2018. An absurdist pitch-black tragicomedy that takes a surreal, satirical swipe at society and the human condition.

 385.
A librarian is forced to embark upon a nightmarish odyssey to prove he exists when he is mistakenly declared dead by his bank.

 386.
Balthazar Bardo inhabits a surreal, Kafkaesque world in which elusive powers determine and yet simultaneously oppose him at every step. Influenced by Film Noir and German Expressionism, this monochrome purgatory is brought to life using a highly stylised aesthetic.

 387.
As well as being a vividly rendered, darkly humorous film that touches on topical issues, such as the continuing closure of our nation’s libraries, and the chronic recklessness and unchecked greed of the City’s bankers, the story also has universally applicable themes; such as the way in which our progress in life is impeded or aided by official decisions made for apparently random reasons by pen-pushers we never even meet.

 388.
This post-humorous tragedy is a highly ambitious project presented in a distinct and utterly original manner.

 389.

 489.
Continuing a project first started in the 1980’s founding member Dave Kirby brings an onslaught of industrial soundscapes, pounding drums and a dystopian vision of a world committed to destroying itself.

 490.
Comprising a mixture of harsh noise and power electronics with a harder and heavier percussive beat than before Satori enter 2018 with a collection of new songs “dispossession” based on the physical and mental disconnect facing everyone in the modern world. A constant pervasive undercurrent of violence, the feeling of a society on the brink of a total meltdown and the fears and torments of the powerless individual.

 491.
Satori was formed in Margate, Kent by Dave Kirby and Robert Maycock in 1984. Originally called Psychopath.

 492.
Satori have released material on Zeal SS, Broken Flag, Functional Records, Cold Spring Records, Dogma Chase, Reverse Records, Attenuation Circuit and many more.

 493.
Recent projects include collaborating with Lorenzo Abattoir (Nascitari) and a total remix of Dave Phillips’ “Homo Animalis” cd.

 544.
“The main feature of my work is meticulous attention to detail in microcosms packed with different characters and full of fertile psychological situations. I use a miniaturist approach, supported by the use of a magnifying glass to define every square inch of the painting.

 545.

 546.
Urban contexts are dismembered in a dream-like swarm of architecture, forms and social relations disrupted, provocatively juxtaposed with no apparent order. Childhood memories and paranoid nightmares are recomposed with graphite or color on canvas and paper, often through pareidolia, returning a duel between the freedom of the absurd and arbitrariness of the rule.

 547.

 548.
The masters that have most influence on my work ranging from Leonardo to The Clash, Brueghel, Dali, from Hieronymus Bosch to Dead Kennedys”.
