Are you thinking of some link building strategies to get targeted quality backlinks to your website? I would like to share with you one of the best method to boost your link popularity of your website quickly and this method is getting more and more popular recently. It’s called contextual link building. As you incorporate this great method of link building as one of your Search Engine Optimization strategies, you are not just getting a mere backlink to your website, you are also benefiting from keyword targeting too.How do you increase your website link popularity? There are a few methods to get some quality targeted links to your website or blog.Below are a few popular ways to boost your website link popularity:– article marketing
- forum posting
- directory submissions
- blog reviews, etc. However, I realize that one of the best form of Search Engine Optimization strategy is contextual link building and this method is getting popular on the web.So, what is contextual link building in layman’s terms?Contextual link building is the act of receiving incoming or inbound links to your website or blog from pages of other websites that are also tropically or contextually related. This will include getting some of your keyword topics and the content of your website being written by websites or blogs. The benefit of this type of Search Engine Optimization method is definitely huge and should not be taken lightly. For example, let’s say that you have a web design consulting company; and you are seeking for quality backlinks from other web pages that also deal with web design consulting services, this will be viewed as a contextually related web page and will definitely enhance your website for the keyword focus of the page that is linking to your website.Contextual links is definitely a great way to build your popularity links. Not only does contextual link building improves your website or blog’s link popularity, it also helps with your keyword targeting in your website much more effective than any link building traffic strategies. In conclusion, if you are thinking of getting targeted quality backlinks to your website and implementing some Search Engine Optimization strategies on your site, it does make sense to go for contextual link building. In my opinion, contextual link building is a highly recommended strategy for the online business owners and network marketers.

Technology will be a hindrance to creativity until its potential is harnessed. The more we use the ability of technology, the more creative we become. When we see a screen, mobile, tablet or computer, we need to see it as a medium for creative expression.Research has shown that everyone is born with creative powers, some are creatively active and others keep creativity dormant. The creative potential in our lives is immense and we need to bring it to the fore. A question that crosses the mind more often than not is, how to do it? In this age of technology, it’s much easier to keep creativity intact and free-flowing.Education system
The constrained education system prevents students from thinking creatively leading to assembly line workers rather than intellectually creative individuals. To address this situation, the need of the hour is to take creativity back to classrooms and use technology to enhance it.With the capability of technology to transcend time and space, students have more opportunities to produce creative assignments and projects in a jiffy. As institutions of higher learning are encouraging the use of technology in classrooms, many educators are supporting the students creative minds. Number of Universities are turning to ICT (Information Communication Technology) to blend in technology and creativity for their students.Creativity, Technology and Students
Technology has given engineering students an opportunity to be creative and innovative. Streams like robotic have given students to play around with and create something more humane. For these students using technology and creativity is being career ready. For media students, professors are giving more opportunities and freedom to create and design assignments. The animation and gaming industry is technology and creativity driven. Students in this industry are relying on technology and programming to create new games and innovative solutions in everyday life. In the media industry, technology is creatively used to bring news, views, and events on to different platforms. Creativity and technology are inseparable where films, animation, and media industry are concerned. The newage social media is also encouraging creativity among the gen x students. On platforms like YouTube, Instagram and Tumblr students are creating resources and information which can be accessed globally with the help of technology and creativity. Students are able to collaborate with like-minded people across the globe and engage in online discussion on various topics and come out with creative output. As we are turning into the new millennium, students are using technology to expand creativity within and outside classrooms. It’s like using both the sides of our brains to advance technology to enhance our creativity.

This month the theme here on this blog is how projects are judged – a theme very close to my heart since I wrote a book on the topic in 2012. I could go on and on about how to set up schemes to assess project success and manage stakeholder expectations, but I won’t. At least, not today. Let’s talk about something else, something that is aligned to that but that you really need to get straight before you even think about working out success criteria.
Who is judging your project?
Projects don’t exist in a vacuum. It isn’t just you and your project team. Someone set your project up because it needed to be done. Perhaps it meets a tactical requirement such as sorting out an operational problem. Perhaps it’s part of a longer term strategy to drive revenue. Projects happen because someone decided that they should. And they also get to decide if your project has been a success.
Normally this person acts in the role of project sponsor. If it’s a committee that proposed the project, they will choose someone from amongst the ranks to be your project sponsor and represent their interests. They are typically the person who has the most to gain from whatever it is that your project is going to deliver. An IT Director would sponsor a project to upgrade the data center to the latest hardware, but not a project to improve the customer complaints process.

Beyond the project sponsor
Of course, the project sponsor has a large part to play when it comes to judging whether the project has been successful or not. They will help you identify and define success criteria and you’ll take your steer from them with regards to the direction you should go in to be successful. Their opinion matters. But they aren’t the only one who counts.
Your project team will be made up of a wide group of professionals, all with diverse interests and expectations (at least, it should be. If you have a team where everyone has the same outlook you are less likely to achieve success, according to McKinsey and there has been other research into this too). Everyone on the team will have an opinion about whether your project is currently successful and is going to continue to be successful up until the point that it finishes (and for a long time afterwards).
Building close working relationships with everyone on the team will help you identify what a successful project looks like to them. The motivation for everyone is going to be different. A junior project manager working alongside you might feel that the project has been successful if she manages to get sole responsibility for the next project that comes along as part of her career progression. A network engineer would consider the project to be successful when all the data center hardware is upgraded. A business manager would judge success as there being no downtime and no interruption to service. Everyone will look at it slightly differently.

Balancing the demands of your customers
When I talk about customers, I mean the people who receive the services and benefits of project management. As project managers, we provide a service to internal (or external) clients, and they are our customers. We exist to serve them and to deliver a service to them – the service of project management. They get to decide if we’ve done a good job.
If you start thinking about your project stakeholders as customers of the project management process it becomes easier – I think – to manage their expectations and requirements. You’ll be able to see how you’ll be judged by them and how they will judge your project because suddenly it’s all a lot clearer. When you put the project manager in the position of delivering a service, it changes your mindset.
This attitudinal change makes project managers more aware of how what they do delivers value (or otherwise). You judge people who deliver services all the time: a waiter, a ticket agent, a salesperson in a shop. Think of yourself like that and you’ll be able to see what they value and why. And of course, talking to them helps. Ask them what is important to them and then make sure you deliver that. If you can’t, tell them why not. In my experience most people are reasonable when they have to confront the fact that their expectations are unrealistic.
This is just a short introduction to the idea of customer-centricity on projects and how that relates to success criteria, and if you want to find out more you can find a talk on the subject here. How do you stakeholders look when you think of them as customers? Let us know your thoughts on this topic in the comments.

Every project manager has their own higher ups they have to answer to – those can be executives, other managers and stakeholders throughout the project. However, one of the most important people to have above you (or laterally to your side) is a project sponsor or two. As a project manager, you shouldn’t be a stranger to the concept of project sponsors, but a quick refresher on why they’re necessary to your project and how to build sponsorship might be needed.
What Is a Sponsor?
Sponsors have many different roles depending on the organization and the project in question. However, their primary role is one of support and promotion – they often act as go-betweens that work between you and your team, and upper management, as well as stakeholders. Their job is something akin to a cheerleader, but it goes much deeper than that.
Where cheerleaders might incite pride and support, a sponsor’s role goes deeper, and can help you foster better communication, understanding and more. They also keep a project aligned to the organization’s overall plan.
What Can Your Sponsor Do?
While the exact role and responsibilities of each sponsor will vary from one situation to another, there are some common things that these important individuals can do for your project and for future projects, including:

Determine the right type of project
Determine the need for a project
Select the project manager (that’s you)
Set the project’s budget and increase or decrease as necessary
Help build the project’s team
Communicate project progress to executives and higher ups
Make decisions that affect the project based on information supplied by the project manager (you, again)
Work with the project manager to ensure that planning is ongoing and accurate
What Can You Do to Ensure Better Sponsorship?
Encouraging appropriate sponsorship isn’t really your responsibility as a project manager (the responsibility usually runs the opposite direction), but there are some things that you can do to help ensure that you benefit from good sponsors.
You’ll need to interact with upper management and other high-level decision makers about the need for project sponsors. It’s their job to select a sponsor, as well as to provide training and education to each sponsor on their role during the project and how that role will fit with their other responsibilities in the organization.
In addition to communicating with upper management, there are some things you can do to help ensure that your sponsors are able to support you as best as possible. One of those is to make sure that you have open communication and that you and your sponsor are speaking the same language. Don’t expect your sponsor to be fluent in project management speak – you need to provide accurate, timely communications in a manner your sponsors understand inherently to avoid costly misunderstandings.
Work with your sponsors, educate them on what they should know, and translate technical jargon into business terms they can understand. You’ll see significantly greater success with your project with their support.

Forests full of trees have been felled printing articles about the pros and cons of working remotely. Maybe that should be scores of gigabytes have been consumed on the issue. Regardless, it may be time to move beyond the pro vs. con debate, accept that it’s here, and figure out the best way to do it.

Web developer Alex Ivanovs has some good advice at The Huffington Post. He says it’s important, above all else, to be flexible. As he puts it, have an open mind about everything. Do you sweat the small stuff? (I’m not talking project details – more like minor irritants.) You may find it difficult to work remotely without constant support around you.

He also talks about keeping your sanity. That also dovetails with openness. As he says, you need “the ability to stay sane when situations start becoming stories to tell.” A little mediation may not be a bad idea once in a while too.

PMStudent.com tackles the issue in a post called, Working Remotely? Three Tips to Maintain a High Profile. It lists these tips:

Over communicate
Be Seen
Change Your Method, Not Your Tone
Do we necessarily agree with all the tips? In theory but not necessarily in practice. However, just because my approach might be different doesn’t mean what PMStudent has to say is wrong.

In terms of over communicating, the site suggests daily communications. This might be important at the beginning, but on a sustained basis? Sending emails just to send emails can eventually be seen as a sign of insecurity. Of course, you might have a supervisor who expects it.

There’s no disagreeing with this advice, though: “Set an auto responder on your email when you are out of the office, make sure your voicemail states your normal hours and when you deviate from those hours make sure everyone knows.” I would add to that: don’t forget to adjust your auto responder and change your voicemail daily. Nothing worse than a voicemail stating you will be returning to the office by a certain date – and that day was three weeks ago.

Be seen also makes sense because it dovetails well with over communicating. PMStudent says to consider including your photo with communications. Or maybe set up a intraweb site where you can post pictures showing you and your project.

It should go without saying that the photos should show you are your most professional. People connect more quickly and easily with faces, as PMStudent observes, but you don’t want to be recognized for the wrong reasons.

The site’s third point deals with changing your method and not your tone. This is probably the strongest piece of advice of the three. It recognizes one of the huge difficulties of working remotely: access. People just aren’t going to be available when you need them. Sure, the same thing happens when you are in an office but it’s too easy to go off on someone you don’t deal with on a daily basis.

It’s kind of like road rage. People feel stronger in the relative anonymity of their vehicles. You might feel emboldened when you leave phone messages. As PMStudent points out, “Do not let others sense your frustration. Do not change your message so that it becomes threatening or hysterical. Remain calm polite and professional.”

PMStudent has a good video you might want to watch to reinforce the message:

Ryan Wilcox, a software developer, has some real practical advice at Toptal. Get a good, wired headset that runs off your computer’s USB ports. It will make you sound better on conference calls. He also recommends AwayFind, which sends urgent emails to you as texts. Sounds simple but often you can get texts when your cellphone signal may not be strong enough for web access. It can be as little as $5 a month not to miss important emails.

His advice echoes what the others said. Wilcox also reinforces how important communication is, especially daily check-ins. He suggests it could be particularly effective in the morning and does not always have to be work related.

Things have changed considerably in the world of project management over the years. At one point, inputs were the most important considerations, but today most projects are guided by value delivered on completion. Value-driven has become the mantra of project management, and as a project manager, you must understand how to ensure that the utmost value is delivered (and that the value is positive, rather than negative).
Negative Factors
A number of factors can transform a project’s value from positive to negative. For instance, if cost overruns occur that significantly detract from a deliverable monetary value, a loss is realized. Cost overruns can occur virtually anywhere in the project, from almost any source, including vendors, team members and changing goals based on feedback from stakeholders.
Another negative factor would be not meeting the planned deliverable value, even without the presence of cost overruns. In the old method of judging project success, as long as the project concluded on time, on budget and within scope, it could be considered a success (technically speaking). However, a project that produces results that are below expectations (regardless of why this is so) can no longer be considered successful.
You must also understand the your definition of value and the client’s definition of value (or upper management in the case of an in-house project) may differ. This is why it’s vital that every team member, management member and stakeholder be on the same page in regards to project deliverables and value prior to the project moving past the inception stage. If there are disparities here, you might feel that the project achieved its goals admirably, while the client will be nonplussed by the lack of value delivered.
Alignment of Goals and Value
From the very beginning, it’s important that project objectives are aligned correctly between all parties. This requires very clear, precise communication. All goals should be laid out clearly in a step-by-step formation, with one goal leading to the next, and ultimately culminating in the completion of the project with a predefined project value delivered to the client. Additionally, during alignment, any activities or goals that do not add to the project’s value or actively take away from that value must be eliminated.
Is It Achievable?
Achievability is another immense consideration here, and it’s a factor that must be evaluated throughout the entirety of the project. To ensure the utmost in terms of project value delivery, it’s important that all resources (human and otherwise) be constantly focused on achieving optimum value at the right time. With constant assessment of a project’s achievability at all steps along the way, an accurate assessment of the total value can be determined.
Project value can seem subjective, but if you, your team and all stakeholders remain on the same page from day one, it can be simple to ensure that the projected return is realized. It’s also important that the right tools are used and the correct team is assembled before the project commences.

If you’re in sales, then you’ve probably heard all sorts of advice, from “don’t oversell” to “focus on solving problems.” However, one of the best pieces of advice that many forget is to smile! After all, your smile is one of the first features people notice about you, and it plays an essential role in the first impression you make. Keep reading to learn all about the importance of a smile in sales (as well as how cosmetic dentistry can help!).

Smile: Your Sale Depends on It!

Knowing your product and knowing your audience are key in sales. However, you don’t get far if your client doesn’t trust you or believe you. That’s why it’s so important to make a good first impression! Here are a few ways a smile can help:

• Smiling is more powerful than you might think – One study found that smiling has the same effect on our brain as $25,000 in cash!

• Smiling communicates your state of mind – Smiling is a non-verbal cue that you are happy to be where you are, that you are confident in your product, and that you are ready and willing to help.

• Smiling creates a ripple effect of positivity – Have you ever seen a friend yawn and done the same? Or seen someone take a sip of water and immediately realized you’re thirsty? Thanks to the mirroring neurons in our brains, we naturally mimic the behavior of those around us.

But What If You Don’t Like Your Smile?

If you don’t like your smile, don’t worry – that’s where cosmetic dentistry comes in. Whether you’re struggling with misaligned, misshapen, cracked, or otherwise imperfect teeth, your smile goals aren’t out of reach. The first step? Scheduling an appointment with a skilled cosmetic dentist. For both my father and myself, providing high-quality, personalized, and judgment-free dentistry is a passion. There’s truly nothing better than seeing someone walk out of our office with a dazzling, confident smile! So, don’t wait to make your dream smile a reality – it could make all of the difference when it comes to your personal and professional life!

1999 was probably the worst year of my professional life. Unsatisfying office jobs followed by long periods of unemployment and claiming benefits. I’d also missed out on an opportunity to train as a Microsoft certified programmer because I was unable to find a placement. The dream of making my way into the world of employment had turned into an absolute nightmare, at times I felt like a total failure.

Towards the end of 1999 an opportunity arose for me to work in a casino. I’d always loved card games after seeing the glitz and glamour of casinos in James Bond movies. Dissatisfied with life in Northern Ireland, at the age of just 20, I packed a couple of suitcases and ended up going to the Isle of Man to train as a croupier (casino dealer) in January 2000. 18 months later I was working on my first cruise ship, and 18 months after that I was boarding the QE2 (the most famous ship of them all) to do a world cruise.

For a young man from a housing estate in Antrim, Northern Ireland this was beyond even my wildest dreams. On a ferry from Belfast to Liverpool in 1997, I’d once seen a pontoon table and croupier and dreamt what it may be to work as a casino dealer on the high seas.

Everything aboard the QE2 was as you would expect, starting with Captain Ron Warwick, who looked exactly what the captain of the QE2 should look like (Google the name if you don’t believe me). Passenger facing crew were immaculate in their appearance. I could probably have shaved with the crease on my pressed tuxedo shirts, and on a number of occassions when I had been sunburnt in port, I could feel the creases cutting into my tender skin as I dealt the cards that evening in the casino.

The great thing for croupiers on cruise ships is that they only work when the ship is in international waters, in port, the casino must close, and casino staff are free to do pretty much whatever they want. Casino staff have a cabin steward who cleans their cabin and takes away their dirty laundry and brings it back fresh each day. We did a 103 day world cruise which included stops in places like Hong Kong, Sydney, Cape Town, Hawaii, Mauritius, Nagasaki, Tahiti and Singapore to name a few. I managed to do some amazing excursions like diving in the great barrier reef, quad biking in the Namibian desert, and dining in all sorts of fine restaurants, trying delicacies like Springbok, Kangaroo, Crocodile and Kobe beef. We made stops in 5 continents, crossed the equator and even experienced living a Tuesday in consequetive days when we crossed the world timeline. Imagine that, you go to bed on Tuesday night, wake up the following morning and its Tuesday again, but this was far from groundhog day.

The role in the casino was not about taking passengers’ money like in a land-based casino, it was about providing them with fun and entertainment. The passengers were friendly and pleasant, many of them being extremely successful people (I understand the lowest cabin cost for a world cruise on the QE2 was about $50,000 in 2003). A lot of the passengers had never played in a casino and were fascinated to learn and experience the one onboard. Just getting to know some of these people was an experience in itself, and a large part of the role in the casino was simply to entertain them whilst they were in the casino.

There were also celebrity passengers. We would finish work and go to the crew/members bar where we would have guest entertainers like the late Des O’Connor and the magician, the late Paul Daniels down to have a drink. God bless them both.

Was my job the best job in the world? Maybe not for everyone, but it was beyond even my wildest dreams and the 6 month experience, as well as the amazing people I met will be something I treasure forever. I was very lucky to have lived this experience and will always be incredibly grateful for it.

Many years have passed since then and I’ve always missed the buzz of casinos which is how Fun 21 Casino Hire was created in 2021. My celebrities now are anyone who hires the No Money Fun Casino that I provide for parties and celebrations, and I aim to give the same experience that you would expect onboard the QE2.

Have you ever had a client who was a buyer “in today’s market” make an offer, get the offer accepted, only to back out after a bad home inspection? Well.. in order to limit this there are some things you as a Realtor can look for while showing the home to your client that are definitely red flags, and at least could be brought up so the client isn’t surprised by a bad report. As a home Inspector and owner of SafeHome Home Inspections (www.safetulsa.com) the easiest thing to look at for somebody who is not trained is a bad electric panel.

A “Bad” electric panel in the eyes of any home inspector means “unsafe” or less safe than other panels. It has been determined by studies, lawsuits, etc that these panels are not desirable.

Here is a list of bad panels that are very common in the Tulsa area. These panels are likely present in your local market as well, and every or nearly every home inspector will call them out in the report as in need of further evaluation for replacement: Zinsco, FPE (Federal Pacific Electric) Stab-lok, Challenger. These are the most common “bad” panels that I run into here in Tulsa.

You don’t need to do very much work to identify these panels, oftentimes they are labeled somewhere in plain sight. A word of caution though, the access door is fairly easy to open most of the time but you should never open the deadpan front cover, It’s dangerous and would require tools anyway and you might as well leave something for the inspector to do .

I could go into detail about why these electric panels are dangerous and the different studies that have been done about them over the years but why bore you with that? If you want more information you can do a quick google search on any of these brands or look up one of the main studies by Mechanical and Materials engineer Dr. Jesse Aronstein titled “Hazardous FPE circuit breakers and panels: Information for Homeowners, Inspectors, and Electricians”

While you may not have to avoid a home like this completely, letting the buyer know in advance will at least prepare them so there isn’t a shock on the report, and who knows, maybe a seller will still be willing to change out the panel “in today’s market”. If so, that’s a major win for the customer and a great value to your client.

Microsoft Excel comes to mind when considering a suitable reporting tool for businesses. Excel has been a natural choice for years because of its data organization and analysis capacity. However, as systems change and the demands for data analytics become more complex, it has become clear that the software has some limitations, hence it is necessary to shift from excel to power bi.

For organisations, Microsoft’s Power BI provides robust analytics and reporting features. Power BI delivers significantly more insight than Excel thanks to faster experimentation with visualisations, statistical functions, and calculations across large datasets and the capability to derive answers instantly through the quick recombination of fields.

Listed below are a few advantages of moving from excel to power bi:

Excel to Power bi – Accessing and Storing Large Quantity of Data

Microsoft Excel can perform simple and complex arithmetic operations and functions. However, its effectiveness wanes when you have enormous amounts of data that cannot be opened. This makes it less than ideal.

You can view, analyse, and visualise the more significant data sets that Excel struggles to manage with Power BI’s impressive comprehension capabilities. Not only are these things possible, but your files can also be stored and analysed using only 50 megabytes. To import and cache your data inside a .PBIX file, Power BI makes use of robust comprehension algorithms.

Efficiency is one of the most apparent reasons why Power BI is such a valuable tool. It eliminates the need to aggregate or reduce the size of large datasets to show a more comprehensive analysis. Instead, all the most minute details and summaries can coexist in one file and be evaluated through drill-downs.

In addition to having a massive amount of storage space, you can also edit and prepare your data. Many tasks are made simple by Power BI.

Excel to Power bi – Data Protection

Any business has always placed a high priority on data security. For all kinds of organisations, big or small, the growing threats of data theft, unauthorised access, and invasion by foreign entities have become major concerns. Excel has features that safeguard your data. Excel limits access to files, sheets, or any worksheet as part of security measures.

The user can keep any document locked to prevent unauthorised personnel from accessing the data. The read-only option prevents external parties from editing or otherwise altering the document. Excel does provide security features, but they are basic and lack more sophisticated features.

In contrast, Power BI offers data protection features that are highly dependable, scalable, and responsive to current business requirements. Power BI has the industry’s best built-in security control. Role-based authentication, cloud security, risk monitoring, risk identification, and network security are a few of the security features that Power BI offers.

Compared to Excel security features, Power BI’s data security measures are unquestionably more detailed and trustworthy.

Excel and Power BI provide analytics features, but in comparison, Power BI’s presentation of the visuals and analytical results is much more thorough and appealing. Excel offers basic analytical features, whereas Power BI provides advanced, business-focused analytical features.

Although some of the more recent charts are available in Excel, they cannot connect to the data model. Excel’s portfolio does not currently include some of the newest trending charts at the application level. It only has restricted access to the data model as a result.

However, Power BI has all the features necessary to satisfy customers’ new demands interactively. With the help of Power BI, an organisation can access real-time dashboards, performance indicators, and an alert system. Using data from the past, the organisation can visualise the present and future data.
