58.

The United States is deepening its war efforts by sending Ukraine drone strike kits to fulfill a Pentagon contract by the end of the year. If anyone thought this administration was going to be different than the previous one, this is just more evidence to the contrary. Both are willing to fund and keep a war going between Ukraine and Russia.

 59.
This drone package was first reported on by the Financial Times [behind a paywall]. According to the outlet, the U.S. is going to send 33,000 AI-controlled drones to Ukraine with plans to upgrade them later using swarm technology.

 60.
Auterion, the US-German start-up that developed the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles), recently unveiled its “drone swarm strike engine,” dubbed Nemyx, which transforms individual drones into a single force through a software app that allows any compatible system to join the swarm.

 61.

The new software has yet to be tested on the battlefield, but Auterion has said it plans to upload it to the AI drone “strike kits” it is set to deliver to Ukraine by the end of the year under a Pentagon contract.

 62.
While the delivery would be one of the largest of its kind, the volume is still relatively small compared to the hundreds of thousands of drones already used by Ukrainian forces each month. –RT

 63.
NO MATCH: High-Tech Western Weapons “USELESS” Against Russia’s Superior Jamming Technology

 64.
This is only going to prolong the inevitable. The Western countries responsible for Ukraine’s ability to even remain in existence are unable to convince their taxpayers to continue to keep this war propped up. Russia has repeatedly condemned the continued deliveries of Western weapons to Ukraine, arguing they only lead to more bloodshed and prolong the conflict without affecting its outcome.

 65.
Moscow has also consistently denounced Ukraine’s continued use of drones to strike civilian targets. These attacks often lead to the deaths of innocent people, including children. Russian officials have described these strikes as blatant terrorism carried out by the Kiev regime.

 97.

Is Project 2025 the goal of the religious right? No longer is prosthelitizing good enough. Now they want to use force and violence to convince the public that a Christian Nationalist theocracy, which, make no mistake, would be fascism, is the “correct” form of government. This is an alarming turn of events, and could help explain the current Charlie Kirk psyop.

 98.
Since all government is slavery, a Christian nationalist society would be no exception.

 99.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” ― C. This ideology is being further solidified in the wake of the death of infamous and often inflammatory Christian nationalist, Charlie Kirk, who is being lauded as a martyr for “dying for his faith.”

It was his biblical views, his biblical views of truth.”

 105.
Kirk pushed for a Christian Nationalist society, one in which men ruled over women and minorities, and no one was free to worship or avoid religion as they see fit for their own lives.

It’s made up by secular humanists.” Secular humanism posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or belief in a deity. Considering the most tyrannical governments in history have been religious theocracies (again, look at Islamic nations in the Middle East), it seems more moral to align with secular humanism than a religion right now.

 107.
Charlie Kirk was a huge fan of treating entire groups of people horribly and saying awful things about them while using his Bible to condone his behavior.

Once you start dehumanizing those who don’t believe as you do and call for a ruling class to impose your beliefs on everyone else, you have lost the script and can no longer claim the moral high ground. This is what’s happening with Christian nationalism, something Charlie Kirk promoted.

 109.
You have every right to be religious, tithe 10% of your income, and believe in whatever savior you want. You do not have the right to harm others who do not share in your belief, even if your belief system tells you to. It is also immoral to punish others for not believing like you do. What you can do is isolate yourself with others who only think like you and create an ever-increasing echo chamber where you are never exposed to others who see the world differently. If the right is truly the party of freedom, this will make sense.

(And yes, I have personally read or listened to his entire commentary in context, and the context does not make what he says “better.”)

 167.
A lot of the things Kirk said should be called out, and people have every right to take issue with and criticize what he says. Like everyone else, though, Kirk also has the right to say whatever he wants. A law or regulation targeting Americans can only end one way. Whether it’s Christian Nationalism or socialism, the result will look the same for everyone. The ruling class will control everyone else, and if you step out of line, you’ll be punished. Liberty and freedom will evaporate.

 169.
We are not responsible for what others say, and policing the speech of others is a double-edged sword that will be wielded against you in the future, when you don’t like the next ruler. We are responsible for our actions and what we believe.

 201.

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog.

 202.
How can we possibly undo the severe long-term damage that has been done to an entire generation of young people over the course of several decades? One of the most powerful pieces of evidence that our society is a failure is the fact that we have produced a “lost generation” of young adults that doesn’t have any hope.

 203.
We shipped most of them off to public schools, where they were trained to believe that they came from monkeys, that there is no purpose to their lives, and that when they die, nothing waits for them on the other side. This sick philosophy is endlessly pounded into the heads of our young people, and many of those who have adopted it have come to the conclusion that they might as well live as hedonistically as they can while they are here. Of course, that doesn’t give them any meaning or purpose either, and so a lot of them end up sort of drifting through life seeking anything that can fill the painful emptiness that they feel inside.

 204.
It isn’t really a mystery why so many of our young people have gone completely insane. Our modern liberal society urges them to constantly chase after things that will never satisfy them. As a result, we have a national epidemic of loneliness, a national epidemic of depression, a national epidemic of drug abuse, and a national epidemic of suicide.

 205.
Our young people are offered one hamster wheel after another. Each time, they are told that if they just run hard enough, they will finally be happy.

 206.
Of course, that never actually happens.

 207.
It all starts in the public schools. Parents send their children to these schools believing that they will receive a quality education, but the truth is that the quality of education in our public schools just keeps getting worse…

 208.

The reading and math scores of 12th graders have plunged to their lowest level in over 20 years.

 209.
The scores, part of a test from the National Assessment of Education Progress, showed the average reading score for 12th graders dropped to the lowest level since the NAEP first administered the reading assessment in 1992. The average score for 12th graders in math in 2024 was the lowest since 2005, when the math assessment framework changed significantly.

 210.
I went to public schools all the way through high school, and then I attended two public universities for a total of eight years.

 211.
The quality of the education that I received was a joke.

 212.
The entire system is a fraud! It is about time that we all finally admit that the emperor doesn’t have any clothes on.

 213.
But what our public schools are good at is indoctrinating young minds. For example, just consider what has been happening in the state of Maryland…

 214.

Schools are subverting students’ mental health by endlessly hectoring them to doubt or despise their own bodies. These school antics reached epidemic level even before the start of the Covid pandemic. In 2019, the state of Maryland issued regulations to promote “viewing each student’s” “gender identity and expression” as “valuable.” Government officials and political appointees arrogated to themselves the prerogative to redefine gender in the state of Maryland. Montgomery County, the largest school system in the state, announced that it would choose books for the curriculum “through an ‘LGBTQ+ Lens’ and ask whether books ‘reinforced or disrupted’ ‘stereotypes,’ ‘cisnormativity,’ and ‘power hierarchies,’” according to a brief filed at the Supreme Court by parents who successfully challenged the school system. That brief also noted that “teachers are told to frame disagreement with [pro-LGBTQ] ideas as ‘hurtful,’ and to counter with examples of ‘men who paint their nails’ or ‘wear dresses.’” The goal is to instill in children “a new perspective not easily contravened by their parents,” as the county school board admitted.

 215.
The indoctrination produced a 582% increase in the number of kids self-identifying as “non-binary” in Montgomery County schools. “Disrupting children’s thinking” has been so successful that almost half of the students identified themselves as non-binary.

 216.
Sadly, most parents have no idea what is really going on in these schools.

 217.
They just assume that their kids are being prepared for life in the real world.

 218.
But instead, they are having leftist “values” systematically shoved down their throats.

 219.
Needless to say, it gets even worse at the next level.

 220.
Our colleges and universities are completely and utterly dominated by radical leftists.

 221.
This is why so many of our young people abandon the values that they were raised with once they enroll in these “institutions of higher learning”. This is a point that was made exceptionally well in a recent article by Victor Davis Hanson…

 222.

Hundreds of thousands of students emerge from campuses not just indoctrinated with contempt for the Western tradition and American exceptionalism, and not just often thousands of dollars in debt from inflated tuition, but also poorly educated by the standards that once defined education.

 223.
The working classes and high school graduates, supposedly the losers of our society, are not those who are dividing the country. They are not often advocating violence or trying to use any means necessary to overturn the established order. But so often the products of the modern university are doing just that.

 224.
Sadly, in all these recent horrors, the ideology behind them—the premise that either birthed or appeased them—was birthed in modern higher education.

 225.
He is right.

 226.
Once upon a time, colleges and universities were primarily concerned with equipping students with the skills that they would need for their future careers.

 227.
Today, colleges and universities are primarily concerned with brainwashing impressionable young kids.

 228.
So, how is that working out for our society?

 229.
Well, we now have a raging epidemic of loneliness among our young people…

 230.

Half of U.S. youth say that loneliness has a daily disruptive impact on their mental health, according to Hopelab and Data For Progress survey results shared exclusively with Axios.

 231.
In addition, the percentage of the population that is suffering with or receiving treatment for depression has nearly doubled over the past decade…

 232.

Depression remains an ongoing problem in the U.S. as historically high rates persist, polling company Gallup reveals.

 233.
The reported percentage of U.S. adults suffering or receiving treatment for depression has been higher than 18 percent for the past two years. A decade ago, in 2015, the number was just over 10 percent.

 234.
“The increase is alarming, and it is important that we keep an open mind and explore all possible causes for the rapid, and apparently sustained, rise in depression rates over the past decade,” Dr. Gerard Sanacora, a professor of psychiatry, director of Yale Depression Research Program and co-director of Yale New Haven Hospital Interventional Psychiatry Service at Yale University, told Newsweek.

 235.
On top of everything else, “deaths of despair” caused by alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and suicide are absolutely soaring…

 236.

Two non-profits, Trust for America’s Health and Well Being Trust, published a report this month which paints a harrowing picture of reality for millennials with an addiction in the United States. According to the report, which is an analysis of data from the CDC, millennials are the most likely age demographic to die from alcohol, drug abuse, and suicide. Millennials are most often defined as people who were born between the years 1981 and 1996, although some definitions expand the category to cover people who were born up through the year 2000.

 237.
Over the course of one decade, from 2007 to 2017, the rate of alcohol-related deaths among millennials rose by 69%, the rate of deaths caused by drugs rose by 108%, and the suicide rate rose by 35%. The report also indicates that the opioid epidemic has devastated millennials. From 1999 to 2017, the rate of fatal opioid overdoses among millennials rose by 500% and the rate of fatal overdoses involving synthetic opioids (especially fentanyl) skyrocketed by 6,000%.

 238.
Please go back and look at those numbers one more time.

 239.
What we are doing is clearly not working.

 240.
We have a system that does not give our young people any hope, and the consequences have been absolutely devastating.

 241.
Those of us that refuse to go along with the system are increasingly being marginalized and pushed to the fringes of our society, but we will not yield because we have found hope in Jesus Christ. If you would like to study the evidence that proves that the Christian faith is true, I would strongly encourage you to read my book entitled “Why”, because it contains a lot of information that has been kept from the general population.

 242.
Our schools aren’t going to tell you the truth.

 243.
Neither will the other major institutions in our society.

 244.
If you are tired of being lied to, it is time to wake up and start thinking for yourself.

 245.
We live at a time when deception is literally all around us, but the truth is still out there, and you can find it if you are willing to search for it.

 289.

This article was originally published by Connor O’Keefe at The Mises Institute.

 290.
A week ago today, Charlie Kirk was assassinated. In the days since, details about and reactions to the very public and widely-watched murder of the prominent conservative commentator and organizer have been everywhere.

 291.
Supporters of Kirk are devastated and frustrated. And many have documented the blatant celebrations that took place in many progressive corners of the internet and the ongoing references to wanting someone to do “The Thing” (which means killing Trump) that are everywhere in these online spaces to argue that the collective delusion that a literal 1930s-style Nazi takeover of the US is taking place that in all likelihood convinced two gunmen to try and assassinate Trump last year has not been adequately reckoned with and is just as present as it was last summer.

 292.
People on the left and establishment figures closer to the center have countered by arguing that the killing of Kirk takes place in the context of a larger uptick of violence aimed at public figures that does not fall easily within partisan lines, but that is increasing at a concerning rate.

 293.
Both are right.

 294.
Many people in politics, media, and industry who had been doing well before the Trump years have maliciously exaggerated and embellished many aspects of the MAGA movement to terrify millions of people into thinking that a minor threat to the establishment’s power is actually a threat to their very lives. This is a sentiment that those in power, who are stoking these fears, clearly do not believe themselves, as could be seen in their cordiality to Trump after he was shot and Kirk after he was killed.

 295.
But this is not the only source behind the surge of violence in American political life that we’re now living through. Delusional online worldviews, collective fears about the future of the country, and even suspiciously belligerent FBI informants have increasingly been convincing people of many different ideological persuasions to adopt more violent means in attempting to achieve their political goals.

 296.
Where most have erred, however, is in viewing the “political violence” we’re seeing these days as some kind of unprecedented deviation from the political norm. It is not.

 297.
Politics is violence. Political history is full of violence. And, even though this kind of officially-unsanctioned violence against public figures has been mostly absent from domestic American politics since the late 1960s, Americans have—all this time—lived under a very violent regime in Washington, DC.

 298.
The only reason that may not seem obvious is that most of our government’s violence has been committed against people in foreign lands. And that is only because, for the familiar past, no serious threat to their power has materialized here at home. So the unseemly activities of our so-called leaders happen mostly out of sight.

 299.
But that cannot remain the case for long as the size of the federal government continues to rapidly grow. As the government comes to control more and more aspects of our daily lives, the sheer amount of alluring power available to whichever political tribe can momentarily grab the reins grows too. As does the danger of losing to an enemy tribe that—like nearly all political tribes—seeks to dominate their ideological enemies.

 300.
Adding fuel to that already perilous fire is the fact that young Americans—especially young American men—are growing historically disillusioned and disenchanted with the current system, mostly for reasons that are not their fault.

 301.
They were born into a world where politicians have borrowed an absurd amount of money, which is ratcheting up the future tax burden. These politicians have also deliberately destroyed the value of money, structured the entire economy around short-term consumption and debt over meaningful investment and production, prioritized the well-being of about every group above young native-born Americans, and turned nearly every big industry into a giant racket designed to transfer as much money as possible to well-connected companies. And now, as a result, Gen Z is at serious risk of being the first generation in American history to not live as materially or financially well as their parents’ generation.

 302.
Growing disillusioned with a system that is ripping you and your entire generation off is absolutely justified. But things can quickly get much worse if all that righteous anger is not mobilized and deployed in a precise, effective, and ethical direction that actually addresses the root cause of the problem.

 303.
And unfortunately, as righteously disillusioned as young Americans are, they remain mostly adrift.

 304.
Many have fallen into fringe, incoherent online ideologies or fallen for insincere political figures who promise imminent change without having any serious intention of delivering that change. Others have completely checked out of not just politics, but social life entirely—showing no interest in having a career or starting a family. And having a lot of young, out-of-work, single, disenchanted, and overall frustrated men, especially, is a major driver of violence and chaos.

 305.
So, again, the stakes of American politics have gotten much higher for all sides at the same time, young American men are becoming more isolated and frustrated than we’ve seen before. So it is reasonable to expect that we will only see more “political violence” in the future. We’re on a bad path.

 306.
There is a better one. But getting there involves bringing about a significant rollback of federal power and dramatic political decentralization—not trying to grab federal power, expand it, and use it to subjugate your ideological enemies in the ahistorical assumption that it will get them to calm down.

 307.
It also comes from those who are justifiably disillusioned, recognizing that the real source of our problems stems less from their pink-haired leftist college classmate or some tiny purposefully provocative anonymous account on X and more from the government officials and bureaucrats actively running all the corrupt rackets in Washington, DC.

 308.
But above all, if we’re ever going to see meaningful improvements to our national situation, we must face the fact that evil exists and that it is present in our country and in our political system. And that, especially when it seems advantageous or tempting in these increasingly frequent, highly-charged moments, it is imperative that we do not give in to that evil, but—as a great man once adopted as his personal motto—that we proceed ever more boldly against it.

 342.

The conservatives in the country are pushing for censorship in the aftermath of their hero, Charlie Kirk’s, assassination in Utah last week. Notice what’s coming out of the republican side of the government right now. It is heavily aligned with what the liberal leftists did back during the Obama years when they sought to silence anyone in disagreement with their ideology.

 343.
Breaking: IRS Admits To Specifically Targeting Tea Party Conservatives – Obama Was Going After His Political Enemies

 344.
The biggest problem is that the ruling class has the two sides fighting each other instead of looking at the real problem: the government itself that controls and manipulates, even pulls the strings to inflame these tensions further.

 345.
This is just more evidence that the problem isn’t the sides. The problem is that there’s a throne and a ruling class (s)elected by those sides to control everyone in the name of statism and power. Now the right can wield power to silence people who say things they don’t like, and the left will complain because they disagree.

 346.
“We are going to channel all of the anger that we have over the organised campaign that led to this assassination, to uproot and dismantle these terrorist networks,” said Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff. “It will happen, and we will do it in Charlie’s name.”

 347.
Conservatives have urged that businesses fire individuals who made celebratory posts over his death, fueling questions about free speech and cancel culture. According to a report by Newsweek, a website called the Charlie Kirk Data Foundation asks people to submit names of people who have celebrated the shooting. The group wrote to X that it has nearly 50,000 identities and that it’s not meant for “doxxing”—only to “lawfully collect publicly-available data to analyze the prominence of support for political violence in the interest of public education.”

 348.
Call it what you will, but that was doxxing, and the right spoke out when it was done to them.

 349.
“It’s not ‘cancel culture’ for someone to lose his job for celebrating a political assassination. It’s a just and necessary consequence if we want to maintain freedom of speech and our constitutional order,” wrote Representative Brandon Gill, a Texas Republican, to X.

 350.
There is a better way.

 351.
When someone looks out at the world and sees all manner of suffering and injustice, stretching back for thousands of years and continuing today, he invariably blames such problems on someone else’s hatred, greed, or stupidity. Rarely will someone consider the possibility that his own belief system is the cause of the pain and suffering he sees around him. But in most cases, it is. The root cause of most of society’s ills–the main source of man’s inhumanity to man–is neither malice nor negligence, but a mere superstition–an unquestioned assumption which has been accepted on faith by nearly everyone, of all ages, races, religions, education, and income levels. If people were to recognize that one belief for what it is–an utterly irrational, self-contradictory, and horribly destructive myth–most of the violence, oppression, and injustice in the world would cease. But that will happen only when people dare to honestly and objectively re-examine their belief systems. “The Most Dangerous Superstition” exposes the myth for what it is, showing how nearly everyone, as a result of one particular unquestioned assumption, is directly contributing to violence and oppression without even realizing it. If you imagine yourself to be a compassionate, peace-loving, civilized human being, you must read this book.

 402.
Two weeks ago, a resolution was passed by the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) stating that Israel’s conduct meets the legal definition as laid out in the United Nations Convention on genocide, according to a report by the BBC.

 403.
Charlie Kirk’s death has been quite good at taking attention away from basic human rights violations happening in Gaza. Kirk has defended Israel and claimed that it was not “starving Gazans,” although some conservative outlets have been quick to point out the Christian nationalist’s sudden change of heart. Grayzone reported that Kirk refused a funding offer from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu just before his death in Utah at an event at Utah Valley University. Could this have something to do with his death? Or was it just incredibly convenient that he happened to be talking about it?

 404.
As an evangelical Christian, Kirk had framed his support in religious and moral terms, stating that Israel is “not like every other nation” and that there is a “moral commitment” to the land based on biblical truth. He condemned antisemitism as “poison for the mind” and “demonic evil,” and positioned TPUSA as a counter to anti-Israel activism on college campuses.

 405.
Is it all a part of the psyop? Why is everything about Kirk and his rhetoric lately? Why has the right descended into mass hysteria, threatening and doxing those who didn’t like Kirk?

 406.
Is Israel’s incursion into Gaza being ignored because so many are focused on the death of Kirk? What do you think? We want to hear your thoughts!

 437.

The United States ruling class is becoming increasingly unhinged. They no longer seek just to control those underneath them; they are now eating their own, likely with a wider goal in mind. Representative Nancy Mace has accused Ilhan Omar of inciting violence and wants to “punish” the democrat.

 438.
Mace has said she will introduce a resolution to remove Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar from her House committee assignments over remarks the latter made following the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. Omar singled out Mace in her comments, claiming harassment, accoridng to a report by RT.

 439.
Charlie Kirk Psyop Continues: Divide And Conquer

 440.
Omar, who was born in Somalia and became a US citizen in 2000, criticized Republican lawmakers who blamed the left for Kirk’s death. Speaking last week to commentator Mehdi Hasan, she accused them of fostering hostility toward political opponents and said: “These people are full of s**t.”

 441.
She singled out Mace and US President Donald Trump, saying, “You have people like Nancy Mace, who constantly harass people that she finds inferior and wants them not to exist in this country … and you have people like Trump, who has incited violence against people like me.”

 442.
Christian Nationalism On the Rise: Ruler Reposts Video Saying Women Should Not Be Allowed To Vote

 443.
Omar also called the video of Kirk’s shooting “really mortifying,” and she said that her thoughts were with his wife and children.

 444.
“She is inciting violence against conservatives in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s political assassination,” Mace said in a video standing outside Omar’s office. “We have been villainized and dehumanized far too long. You can take your Sharia-loving, anti-American self back to Somalia.”

 445.
Mace, in earlier posts, had blamed Democrats for fostering a climate of political violence, saying, “If you have a different opinion from the left, they want to kill you.” To be honest, it sure looks like republicans are harboring the same opinion. Just ask what they want done to you if you didn’t like Charlie Kirk.

 446.
Neither side is the party of freedom, and neither is the party of free speech. Neither party is the party of “live and let live.’ Both parties want to use the force of the ruling class to make you comply with their ideas, whether they are good ideas or not. That is not freedom. That’s slavery.

 447.
The murder of Charlie Kirk has turned out the worst in both sides of the political spectrum, showing, once again, that statism is not moral. Stop being republicans and democrats and start being humans.

 519.
Israel’s claim of self-defense is exposed as a lie by the 50:1 Palestinian death toll and systematic destruction of civilian life.

 520.

 521.

 522.

 523.
When a nation’s top military commander openly admits to slaughtering more than 200,000 people — more than 10 percent of an entire population — while boasting that no legal constraints ever slowed him down, the world must recognize this for what it is: genocide. That is exactly what former Israeli army chief Herzi Halevi confessed this week, confirming what human rights groups, legal scholars, and the Palestinian Health Ministry have long documented.

 524.
Halevi, who led Israel’s assault on Gaza for 17 months before resigning in March, spoke to residents in southern Israel: “This isn’t a gentle war. We took the gloves off from the first minute. Sadly not earlier.” His words were not a slip; they were a proud declaration of a campaign so brutal that even Israel’s own military lawyers never once restricted his actions.

 525.
“Not once has anyone restricted me. Not once,” he repeated, dismissing the idea that legal or moral boundaries applied. Instead, he framed military lawyers as little more than PR cover: “There are legal advisers who say, ‘We will know how to defend this legally in the world,’ and this is very important for the state of Israel.” In other words, the law isn’t a constraint; it’s a narrative to be manipulated.

 526.
A death toll too massive to ignore

 527.
The scale of the carnage is almost unfathomable. Gaza’s Health Ministry reports 64,803 Palestinians killed and 164,264 wounded since October 7, 2023, but thousands more remain buried under rubble, uncounted. Independent analyses, including leaked Israeli intelligence data, suggest more than 80% of the dead are civilians, including women and children. To put it in perspective: If a foreign military killed 10% of America’s population, that would mean 33 million Americans dead or maimed.

 528.
Yet Israel’s apologists still dismiss these numbers as “Hamas propaganda”, a claim debunked by the United Nations and humanitarian agencies worldwide. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is investigating Israel for genocide, while the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes. Even the world’s largest association of genocide scholars recently passed a resolution, endorsed by 86% of its members, stating that Israel’s actions “meet the legal definition of genocide” under the 1948 UN convention.

 529.
Starvation as a weapon, hospitals as targets

 530.
The brutality extends far beyond bombs. Last month, famine was officially declared in Gaza after Israel enforced a total blockade, cutting off food, water, and medical supplies. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 361 Palestinians have already died from malnutrition, including 124 children. Hospitals, which are supposedly protected under the Geneva Conventions, have been systematically bombed, with Israeli forces even dressing as medics to infiltrate and attack patients.

 531.
When a nation deliberately starves civilians and obliterates healthcare infrastructure, it’s a premeditated campaign of annihilation.

 532.
Israel’s defenders still cling to the narrative of “self-defense” after the October 7 Hamas attacks, which killed 1,200 people. But two years of relentless bombardment — with a death toll now 50 times higher on the Palestinian side — exposes the lie.

 533.
Halevi’s successor, current IDF chief Eyal Zamir, has continued the pattern of defiance. According to Haaretz, Zamir ignored legal advice from Israel’s military advocate general, who warned against displacing 1 million Gazans without ensuring their safety. The result? Thousands trapped in rubble, families forced to flee repeatedly, and a humanitarian catastrophe that grows worse by the day.

 534.
Halevi’s admissions aren’t just a smoking gun. They’re a confession. When a military commander brags about taking “the gloves off” while 200,000 people lie dead or wounded, there’s no more room for denial.

 571.

This article was originally published by Ryan McMaken at The Mises Institute.

 572.
The Federal Reserve is set to lower the target policy interest rate this week in spite of the fact that price inflation rose again in August. The Fed has, for many years, insisted that it is equally committed to both sides of its so-called “dual mandate” of pursuing both “price stability” and maximum employment.

 573.
Yet, the Fed is increasingly showing that price inflation is not even one of the central bank’s chief concerns. If the Fed cuts the target federal funds rate on Wednesday, we will know that what really matters for the Fed is not price inflation. What really concerns the Fed is ensuring the Treasury has access to cheap credit while attempting to help the administration politically by temporarily driving up employment numbers with ever-higher levels of monetary inflation.

 574.
CPI Inflation Rose in August

 575.
According to the latest consumer price index (CPI) report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the CPI rose in August by 2.9 percent, year over year. That’s an eight-month high. During July of this year, the CPI year-over-year increase was 2.7 percent. When compared month over month, the CPI rose in August by 0.38 percent, which was also an eight-month high. Month over month, CPI inflation rose in July by 0.19 percent.

 576.

 577.
In other words, price inflation accelerated during August, coming in at the highest rates since January of this year.

 578.
Looking to core CPI inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, the situation was no better. Year over year, the CPI rose by 3.1 percent, a seven-month high, and above July’s increase of 3.05 percent. Month over month, the CPI rose in August by 0.34 percent, an eight-month high. This put core CPI even further from the Fed’s arbitrary target of two percent.

 579.

 580.
The latest CPI numbers also reflect the trend in the Fed’s preferred inflation measure: personal consumer expenditures (PCE). August data is not yet available for PCE, but July’s PCE report showed the PCE growing by 2.6 percent, year over year. The core PCE was no better with a July reading of 2.9 percent, which had accelerated above June’s core PCE growth rate of 2.8 percent.

 582.
Why has price inflation been so sticky following 2022-3, which saw 40-year highs in price inflation? Part of the reason is the Fed turned dovish long before price inflation had returned to the Fed’s two-percent target. Last fall, in the waning days of the 2020 presidential election, the Fed began a series of new cuts to the federal funds rate in September, while claiming that the US labor market was “solid.” It was widely suspected that the interest-rate cut was being done for political reasons, to facilitate economic stimulus to help the incumbent political party win re-election. To counter these accusations, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell claimed that price inflation was quickly returning to the two-percent target, and the Fed could cut interest rates without any danger of reigniting inflation. The Fed was clearly wrong. A year later, core CPI inflation is higher now than it was when Powell declared victory over price inflation.

 583.
The Fed Has Never Been Focused on Combatting Price Inflation

 584.
Regular readers of mises.org already know, of course, that the central bank is not now, and has never been, actually committed to controlling price inflation. After all, the central bank was created to facilitate monetary inflation, and that inevitably leads to price inflation, sooner or later.

 585.
In the present context, if the central bank were committed to reducing price inflation, it would, at the very least, stop using monetary inflation to purchase assets. Since 2008, for example, the Fed has purchased more than five trillion dollars in mortgage-backed securities and Treasurys. The Fed did this with newly “printed” money, meaning that these asset purchases have, since 2008, created nearly one-fourth of the entire current money supply. This has translated into much of the price inflation that is presently making life unaffordable for so many Americans. The Fed does this to ensure ongoing asset-price inflation for wealthy asset owners and the Fed’s Wall Street allies.

 586.
The Fed’s cut to the federal funds rate last fall, which was obviously politically motivated, was another glimpse into one of the Fed’s true priorities: using monetary stimulus to favor the ruling regime.

 587.
So, it’s safe to say that the central bank is certainly not committed in principle to combating price inflation. However, if the Fed again cuts its policy interest rate this week, the Fed will be abandoning even its performative opposition to price inflation, in which the Fed claims to be “committed” to returning price inflation to its two-percent goal.

 588.
Not only is consumer price inflation accelerating well above two percent in the August report, according to the federal government’s own data, but asset prices also continue to surge. As one observer on X/Twitter noted last week, asset prices remain robust with home prices, gold, bitcoin, and the S&P 500 all near all time highs. Yet the Fed will likely opt for more monetary inflation at its Wednesday meeting.

 589.
Part of the Fed’s ongoing lack of attention to its alleged two-percent target is due to significant pressure from the administration and from financial-sector activists who believe that an additional rate cut will further fuel asset price inflation and more employment. For example, on Wednesday, Donald Trump declared that there was “No Inflation!!!“—by which he meant price inflation—and demanded another Fed rate cut. (Trump didn’t have as much to say in response to Thursday’s CPI report showing rising price inflation.)

 590.
What Powell and the Fed Will Say

 591.
If Trump and Wall Street are successful in getting their demanded rate cut on Wednesday, we can expect more monetary inflation and more upward pressure on prices.

 592.
If the Fed cuts the target rate, Powell will have to come up with an explanation for why the Fed is embracing more easy money even as the price inflation rate is moving back up near three percent. Powell’s stated rationale will be that the Fed is willing to risk some additional price inflation if that’s what’s “necessary” to keep the economic boom going. Moreover, Powell and the Fed will maintain that if the economy is weakening, then this will lessen “inflationary pressures” overall, and price inflation will go down in any case.

 593.
If only it were that easy.

 594.
First, attempting to stimulate job growth with more easy money won’t actually produce economic strength. Real economic strength comes from saving and investment. On the other hand, more monetary stimulus will, at best, merely create the illusion of increasing demand as consumers and buyers of assets bid up prices with the extra money that is now sloshing around in the economy. Employers will misinterpret rising prices as economic strength and then hire more workers. Unless the central bank injects even more monetary stimulus—and does it repeatedly—it will soon become apparent that there is no economic strength backing up the easy-money fueled temporary demand.

 595.
So, why not just keep adding more monetary stimulus over and over to keep the economy going? If monetary stimulus actually works to create jobs, why stop doing?

 596.
The answer, of course, is that monetary stimulus results in rising prices for both assets and consumer prices. We’ve been living with asset price inflation for many years at this point, and it’s why for-sale houses have generally become unaffordable for first-time homebuyers while the average age of homeowners has been rapidly increasing. Moreover, monetary inflation in recent years produced the 40-year highs in price inflation we’ve endured in recent years, with purchasing power falling by nearly 25 percent in just five years. This has been especially devastating for ordinary savers, those on fixed incomes, and those who don’t already own assets.

 597.
In other words, a policy of endless employment stimulus via monetary inflation is a policy of mounting price inflation and a falling standard of living.

 598.
The only solution to this—and the only way to allow ordinary people to regain some of their purchasing power—is to reject more easy money and to allow deflation to occur. Deflation would also help to unravel 20-plus years of easy-money-fueled malinvestment and financial bubbles. Were this to occur, the economy would then be rebuilt along more sustainable lines that conform to actual market demand, in contrast to the easy-money economy of speculative manias that enriches wealthy asset-holders at the expense of ordinary people.

 599.
Unfortunately, we are unlikely to see much actual deflation, although it is badly needed.

 600.
Instead, the central bank will continue to force down interest rates as part of its easy money agenda. This is the opposite of what the central bank should do, which is to refrain from any further intervention in the economy. The Fed should stop buying assets of any kind and allow interest rates to be set by the marketplace instead of by central planners at the Treasury and at the Fed.

 601.
As a result, asset prices would fall substantially, and the prices would rapidly become more affordable. It would also become possible again for ordinary people to earn a decent amount of interest on ordinary savings as interest rates gradually rose. In other words, the economy would—for the first time in decades—begin to swing back in favor or ordinary savers, young workers, and first-time home buyers.

 602.
Financing Federal Deficits: The Hidden Agenda Behind It All

 603.
There’s another reason why the central bank won’t allow deflation and won’t allow interest rates to rise significantly. Although the Fed never publicly admits this, a central purpose of the Federal Reserve—and every other central bank—is to facilitate cheap borrowing for the government. As we saw last week, deficit spending in the United States continues to mount while the total size of the federal debt speeds toward 40 trillion dollars. Moreover, the US Treasury this year faces a challenge of refinancing more than $9 trillion in US debt during the next year. With Treasury yields now at much higher levels than they were in recent years, refinancing at current interest rates will add an enormous amount of new interest expense to the federal government, as the debt-to-GDP ratio continues to climb to 120%. The administration really wants to see the Fed force short-term yields back down to ease the expense of massive federal deficits.

 604.

 605.
The regime in Washington now faces a double threat: a worsening employment situation and a worsening fiscal situation. Washington thinks that the best way to address this is through even more easy money. Get ready for the Fed to embrace a new cycle of monetary inflation soon.
