However Sufian El Bakkali failed to finish after appearing to injury himself while running and two-time Olympic medallist Nick Willis managed to qualify further in time despite his age.

 103.
In the 2020 Paris Olympics marathon race, Kipchoge won for the second time. He became one of three people to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals in a discipline, again joining Abebe Bikila (1960 and 1964) and Waldemar Zerpinski (1976 and 1980).

 105.
Eliud Kipchoge Born in Kenya, Kenya. Grew up in Nandi District of Rift Valley Province, Kenya. He was the 4th child of 6 children. Eliud is from a Maasai ethnic background and grew up with an alcoholic father and his mother who worked as a teacher by profession.

 106.
He graduated from Kapsisya Secondary School (1999) and then went to attend Kaptel High School in North West region for one year before moving to Iten where he started running distances which helped him excel quicker than some Kenyan runners already established in the sport. At 16 years old he met his future coach Patrick Sang at World Championships 1992 when Rhodesian athlete won silver medal, Patrick Sang’s.

 107.
Kenyan marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge is good friends with Sang. They are both from the village of Kirirom (near Eldoret) in Kenya, where they live on either side of the Ilemi Triangle. The two runners regularly train together and did so prior to Munich’s World Championships in 2012. At the Olympics, their rivalry continued even though Saudi Arabia was already out-of-the-running by then. Kipchoge has been married since 2009 and has three children who live with him in Eldoret near his family home there.

 109.
As he did two years ago, Kipchoge ran with 41 pacesetters who rotated in succession. The pacemakers were all the world’s fastest runners and included Swiss Julien Wanders, Australians Jack Rayner and Brett Robinson, as well as Norwegian Ingebrigtsen brothers.

 110.
Drinks were handed to Kipchoge by the attendants on bicycles so the athlete didn’t have to slow down at refreshment points for drinks or gels during the marathon.

 111.
According to the IAAF, it is not permitted for athletes to have a pacer during races and receive any form of sustenance. This race outside of the IAAF’s jurisdiction renders Kipchoge’s record unofficial just like his Monza course records were considered as such.

 112.
“In Berlin [Berlin Marathon 2018] and the run in Vienna you have to create history. It’s like the first man on the moon,” said Kipchoge before the race.

 113.
The journalist inquired if the monumental achievement of running a marathon in under two hours would improve attitudes towards high performance sport, given current negative sentiment in society due to doping scandals.

 114.
Kipchoge replied that “There are flowers and then there are weeds as well. Let’s always think about the flowers and how they can make the world happy.”

 183.
On day nine of the Tokyo 2020 athletics event, there will be many major events. The first one is the women’s marathon final followed by the high jump and 10,000m finals. Next are the javelin and 1,500m finals with relay races beginning afterward including both men’s 4x400m and women’s 4x400m finals to conclude it all.

 184.
Who should we expect to see?

 185.
The women’s marathon to be held in Hokkaido and Sapporo, has been an Olympic event since 1984 and Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei will be favourites alongside the Ethiopian trio of Birhane Dibaba, Rose Dereje and Zeineba Yimer. In the high jump, three-time world champion Maria Lasitskene of the Russia team is worth a look.

 186.
USA’s Emily Sisson will be competing with New Zealand’s Camille Bascombe and Ethiopia’s Tsehai Gemechu in the 10,000m final. Meanwhile men like Johannes Vetter of Germany and Finn Lassi Etelatalo will also compete for medals in their respective events.

 187.
Considering America’s deep past in this competition, it would not be surprising to see athletes representing the U.S. leading the relay over team members of other countries for a 4x400m event victory on Saturday while also giving some scare to female competitors from other nations that are more well-known in these niche competitions such as Alisson Felix of Brazil.

 189.
Ethiopia’s Tsegay runs faster than Kenya’s Obiri in women’s 5000 meter preliminaries. Gudaf Tseabee ran 14:55.74 seconds to win the event for Heat 2 of the preliminary rounds, over two-time world champion Hellen Obirie from Kenya and fourth place finish USA runner, Elise Cranny.

You can revisit their results in this post. In this one, we’ll focus on what finalist runners might surprise us with next time around.

 245.

Kenya’s Emmanuel Kipkurui Korir celebrates after winning the men’s 800m final during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo on August 4, 2021. 246.
Men’s 1500m running. Who’s not starting?

 247.
However, Elijah Manangoi (the 2019 world champion) has been disqualified for misconduct in the past and will not be able to compete at this time.

 248.
In 2016, the Algerian runner Taoufik Makhloufi won the silver medal at last year’s Asian Games in Jakarta. He was named by his country to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he would be looking for a fourth and final Olympic medal.

 249.
Mohamed Katir was not on many people’s radar prior to this year. But in recent months he has risen, improving his personal bests and achieving a second place in Monaco with a Spanish record of 3:28.76. Even before that run, he only made the Olympic list for the 5,000 meter event and there has been no change since then.

 250.
Kamar Etyang was no better known before this season, but his second place in the Kenyan qualifying race is an automatic Olympic medal contender. However, for Kenya (Category A country), each athlete must undergo 3 out-of-competition doping tests in the last 10 months before Olympics. It’s unlikely that Kamar can complete these three tests because he isn’t a regular participant internationally; he will have to postpone trips to international championships until rectified.

 251.
Key talking points

 252.
The two Kenyans that competed in the Tokyo race and qualified for the Olympics, Charles Simotwo and Abel Kipsang, were each beaten by Cheruiyot. However, a 5th place finish at a Monaco race with 3:30.30 looks pretty competitive given where they are ranked this season. For Kipsang, on the contrary, a third rank had turned out to be his worse performance this season ahead of Hengelo where he was second behind Weitman but won all of his other races back in Kenya.

 253.
Serbia and Kenya have both had a lot of success recently, but their popularity doesn’t compare to Cheruiyot who has broken multiple records for her time.

 254.

TOKYO, JAPAN – AUGUST 04: Emmanuel Kipkurui Korir of Team Kenya celebrates winning the gold medal in the Men’s 800m Final on day twelve of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Olympic Stadium on August 04, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. (Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty Images)

 255.
The Olympic qualifiers finish in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi

 256.
When it comes to the prospect of beating Cheruiyot, Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen is the first to stand out. The 19-year old wasn’t very happy with 4th place at the World Championships in Doha but since then he has become dominant and his goal in this race will be to finally overtake a reigning champion who happens to be Kenyan.

 257.
Norwegian hammer thrower Jakob Ingebrigtsen had a very tough couple of weeks, missing starts in Oslo and Stockholm with what he called ‘a cold’ that he picked up during the grueling Diamond League stage.

 258.
At the World Championships, two Brits Jake Wightman and Josh Kerr surprisingly took 5th and 6th places. Both athletes are trained to have improved since that time:

 259.
– Wightman was able to run 3:30 in Monaco last year, this year he won the race in Hengelo with two Kenyan Olympians.

 260.
– Kerr is better known for his finish: he ran the 800 meter individual start of running 55.8 – 50.5 (total time of 1:46) which is a lap spread of 37 seconds at British Championships with 300 meters remaining on a straight part of 100 meters (3:40).

 261.
But both Serbia and Kenya have only played each other once in the Diamond League stages (and hardly any international competitions) this year, so it is hard to predict anything. It’s certainly possible that one of them ends up in the top three. Even if third-placed Briton Jake Heyward does as well.

 282.
Lloyd George Harris

 283.
One of the best-loved American tournaments before the US Open is in full swing. The ATP City Open is taking place in Washington, with Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin Del Potro among its main contenders for the trophy.

 284.
After beating the Dominican Republic 3-0 for his first two matches in Tokyo, Serbian tennis player Dusan Lajovic will face South Africa’s Lloyd George Harris on July 29. The tennis players have never met before. Spain’s number three player is the favorite in face-offs with the South African, who ranks 50th in world rankings.

 285.
On July 29, Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will play an American named Jack Sock. The country is only ranked outside the top 100 in the ATP rankings, but he competed with little success against Rafa on Sunday in Ferrol. He lost despite making a good fight in sets two and three before falling to his opponent who won only at tiebreak six-two four-six seven point one (6:2 4:6 7:6).
286.
287. This match was played less than twenty-four hours ago and as such it wasn’t easy for Rafa. Much of the tennis competition focused on one-sided matches. Next, at 6-4 and serving for her own serve in the first set, Lloyd George was an ace away from clinching victory over Sandgren when he suddenly withdrew. The South African is more than just consistent with his service shots; in the first set alone he had ten aces.

 288.
Harris is ranked 50th in the world and last year was his best season to date. Despite early success this year, he lost in the first round of the tournament at Atlanta. Nadal’s last match was in the 2019 French Open semi-finals where he lost to Novak Djokovic. He missed almost two months of scheduled games with an injury.

 289.
The conclusion of the match between Nadal and Soca makes it clear that the Spaniard is not ready for his strongest tennis come summer, in other words, this tournament in Washington D.C. will be training for him – a chance to condition himself ahead of Wimbledon and the US Open. His main focus right now is those titles; he won’t mess with anything else before then.”

 290.
Harris may not be in the best of form, but if he can serve his first serves properly then there is no way that he will lose. Our bet for this match includes Nadal as our opponent at 4.5-plus handicap and we hope that the South African doesn’t wilt before stepping up to play. The Spaniard won’t have it easy then, and will need to give everything he’s got for every break point.

 291.
Betting on Rafael Nadal v Lloyd George Harris in Washington on August 6, 2021

 292.
The Washington tournament is such a prestigious event that Nadal should win at least one of his matches. But, after winning in three sets against Lamet at the previous match (25:23 25:16, 26:24), it will be challenging to repeat this victory against him again.

 293.
Betting: Harris wins with a handicap (+4.5 game) for 1.67.

 321.
Georgian shot putter Benik Abrahamian has been suspended from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to an anti-doping rule violation, according to a press release by the International Agency for Doping Testing.

 322.
A sample of drug testing taken from Underlined Twice competitor Lilit Abrahamyan on July 31st in Tokyo has found that it contains three banned substances; Dehydrochloromethyl-testosterone, methandienone and tamoxifen. This athlete is entitled to request the second sample for a counter test. The men’s shot put competition will begin on August 3rd.

 323.
On July 29th, in Tokyo, Serbia and Kenya will play a volleyball match. Serbia won the first two games “without sweep”, beating both Dominican Republic (3-0 – 25:18, 25:12, 25:20) and Japan (3-0 – 25:23,25-16. 26:24). The African teams were defeated by Japan (0 to 3 – 15:25, 11:25 23:25) and South Korea (0 to 3 – 14.25 22;26 24;26). Serbian team played with Kenyan one just during Japanese World Cup 2019 edition and then Balkan girls won three sets ahead of their opponents after dominating matches from beginning until end being quite unstoppable throughout them all.

 325.
The Independent Anti-Doping Authority has banned 20 athletes from the Tokyo Olympics. 347.

 348.
Elaine Thompson-Hera from Jamaica won gold in yesterday’s race with a time of 21.53 and an extraordinary accomplishment under her belt. She is the first athlete to claim the 100 and 200 meter titles at two Olympic Games; she joins Usain Bolt, who accomplished that distinction in 2008, 2012, and 2016.

 349.
As for bronze, Gabrielle Thomas of the USA was placed third. Her time is 21.87.

 351.
What’s wrong with Mbom’s success

 352.
The issue is in the uniqueness of their bodies, specifically high levels of testosterone. After all, Mbom and Masilinga have a natural excess in testosterone like another representative from Namibia Beatriz Masilinga (who became the best with a world youth record) did.

 353.
Hyperandrogenism, often referred to simply as “Athlete’s Triad,” is a condition affecting the reproductive system. Knowing the benefits of Hyperandrogenism when it comes to running- explosive starts, endurance and stress tolerance- soccer pro Christine Sinclair would be one athlete not disturbed by this hormonal disorder that makes her female rather than male.

 354.
Despite these benefits for athletes in terms of track and field events 400 metres and shorter, Hyperandrogenism cannot be recognized due to its traits as a hormonal abnormality with or without gender understanding; record setters who have been identified as having hyperandrogenisms are not independently recognized for their achievements in such events.

 355.
Female athletes who have a different chromosomal and/or hormonal makeup are not allowed to compete in distance running events over 400 yards and up to 1500 meters.

 356.

 357.
Criticism, it’s here too

 358.
The public’s displeasure with the athlete is understandable. In fact, the silver medalist from Tokyo has high levels of testosterone and executed techniques that were lower than other girls. The only thing Mbom did to get away with it was not break any rules – which seem hardly enforceable at this point.

 359.
However, in the short term a solution has been found. In the long term, officials should reconsider rules for admitting special athletes and stop entering minority position at the expense of defeating majority of athletes deprived of “natural” advantage.
