<p>Three bunkers were built at the vast 19th-century Villa Torlonia – Mussolini’s private Rome residence from 1925-43 when he ruled Italy with a brutal policy.</p>
<p>The house was built to be a palace, with a casino, many lakes, and tennis courts <span id="e61a3649-ba0b-480e-a434-8f11b801081e" class="suggested-link">court</span>stables and more <span id="88522706-835a-4394-b7c0-f019c238677f" class="suggested-link">home</span>.</p>
<p>In 1940, Italy entered World War 2 and immediately began building the first underground shelter to protect Mussolini and his family from wartime bombing.</p>
<p>The first is an old wine cellar renovated in the garden under a small lake, about 150m from the living area.</p>
<p>To avoid the family having to run to safety, the second cellar was built by enclosing an underground kitchen with reinforced concrete.</p>
<p>In some places, it is up to 4 meters thick and has gas-proof doors and air filtration systems.</p>
<p>However, as the war continued, Allied forces moved closer and dropped bombs <span id="4b8256af-0d46-4b3c-aef9-944fad95e195" class="suggested-link">campaign</span> moving forward, a third armored bunker was planned.</p>
<p>Located outside the Noble Casino building, it is 6 meters deep, 15 meters wide and built in the shape of a cross.</p>
<p>Construction began in 1942 but Mussolini is said to have written to complain that it was behind schedule and cost overruns.</p>
<p>It was incomplete at the time of his arrest in 1943.</p>

<p class="article__content--intro">Born on July 29, 1883, Benito Mussolini was the leader of the country’s National Fascist Party.</p>
<div>
<p>Known as “Il Duce” (The Leader), he became Prime Minister in 1922, quickly consolidated his power to become dictator in 1925 and ruled until 1943.</p>
<p>After the Abyssinia Crisis of 1935–36, his invasion of Ethiopia was widely condemned by Western powers but he received the support of German leader Adolf Hitler.</p>
<p>Hitler and Mussolini established the so-called Rome-Berlin Axis and signed a treaty of cooperation.</p>
<p>On June 10, 1940, Italy entered World War II, sided with Germany, and passed racial laws under which thousands of Jews were persecuted.</p>
<p>In October of that year, Mussolini unsuccessfully sent Italian troops into Greece and the counterattack pushed them back into Albania.</p>
<p>Italy also suffered a humiliating defeat when it joined Germany in attacking the Soviet Union.</p>
<p>Mussolini also suffered defeat when the Axis powers were crushed in North Africa..</p>
<p>In July 1942, the General Assembly of Fascism passed a motion of no confidence in Mussolini and on 25 July the king dismissed him as head of government.</p>
<p>He was detained until rescued by the Germans.</p>
<p>By the time Allied bombings hit Rome in July 1943, the dictator was under Nazi protection and led a puppet state in northern Italy.</p>
<p>Mussolini then tried to flee the country with his mistress Clara Petacci to Switzerland but both were captured by communist troops and shot.</p>
<p>His body was then taken to Milan and hung upside down at a gas station to publicly confirm his death.</p>

<p>He was later killed while fleeing Allied forces in April 1945, and his body was hung by his feet for public viewing in Milan.</p>
<p>Inside the bunker system are explosion-proof doors, ladders leading to emergency exits, rust-proof gas equipment, works of art and secret passageways.</p>
<p>An air purifier label bearing the date November 1940 in Roman numerals fits Mussolini’s style of recalling the glory days of the ancient Roman empire as inspiration for his own rule .</p>
<p>“With the fall of Fascism, it was never fully completed so today we can see it as left behind,” said Marco Placidi, president of the nonprofit Underground Rome. Arrest Mussolini.”</p>
<p>If completed, it will be the best air-raid shelter in Italy for a single family.</p>
<p>The bunker and the rest of Mussolini’s luxurious villa and gardens were first opened to tourists in 2006 but closed two years later.</p>
<p>It reopened in 2014 with more parts to explore after they were found under a secret wooden door.</p>
<p>At the time, Rome’s culture ministry said it hoped it would remind locals and tourists alike of “one of the darkest pages of our history”.</p>
<p>Today, Villa Torlonia is a park shaded by pines and palms, where Romanians jog, stroll, play football or dine at outdoor restaurants.</p>
<p>Last October, Italian lawmakers backed a long-delayed project to build a Holocaust museum in part of Mussolini’s Villa Torlonia.</p>
<p>It has endured for many years due to bureaucratic hurdles but also what critics see as a reluctance to examine the role of the Italian fascist regime as the perpetrators of the Holocaust.</p>

<p>The divorce between the “Dancing with the Stars” alum and her estranged husband has become quite tense, but she is doing her best to take control of her life and her daughter’s. Season 29 contestant Jeannie Mai opened up about her difficult situation in a recent interview with People.</p>
<p>Mai married rapper Jeezy in March 2021, People noted. Mai and Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, welcomed a daughter, Monaco, in January 2022. Jeezy filed for divorce from the DWTS alum in September 2023.</p>
<p>Since filing for divorce, Jeezy and Mai have made many allegations against each other. The “Dancing with the Stars” alum alleges she experienced domestic violence during her marriage. He responded with his own denials and accusations.</p>
<p>Recently, Mai confided in People and shared that she would do “anything” to persevere during this difficult period of her life.</p>

<h2>Jeannie Mai is focused on life with her daughter Monaco</h2>
<p>In an April 17 interview, Mai told People that she was “doing well.” She noted that she is “so grateful that I can focus on the things that are more important than anything else in the world. It’s Monaco and Jeannie.”</p>
<p>“Those are the only two things that matter to me right now. So whatever it takes to make sure we’re healthy, happy and safe, I’ll do whatever it takes,” the “Dancing with the Stars” alum added.</p>
<p>“I think the reality is that I’m surrounded by a lot of things I like to do, whether it’s exercising, finding new dates to go out and things that Monaco likes to do like ballet or riding a motorbike” Mai said of what she is doing to take care of both herself and her daughter.</p>
<p>She continued, “I’m researching ways I can incorporate more music into her life.” The former “Dancing with the Stars” student also shared: “Cooking is really my big thing.”</p>
<p>Finally, Mai expressed: “There is no room for feeling lost in life when you fill it with things you love.”</p>

<h2>DWTS Alumni ‘Just Managing It’ During This Complicated Life Phase</h2>
<p>As the divorce was progressing, People noted that Mai and her daughter were in Boston, Massachusetts. The “Dancing with the Stars” veteran was filming “America’s Test Kitchen” while in Boston.</p>
<p>“I was wondering how to make sure I get some real quality time in Monaco and get some rest,” Mai said.</p>
<p>She explained that she changed both her and Monaco’s bedtimes so that they slept at the same time. “Then we wake up early and have a nice morning time together.”</p>
<p>When talking about navigating her busy life as a single mother, Mai shares, “I’ve just managed it.”</p>
<p>Mai added: “I handle every issue, whether it’s career or parenting skills or personal time, I handle it when I need to and give it my full attention when I’m involved.” .</p>
<p>The former “Dancing with the Stars” actress received a lot of support from fans throughout the divorce drama.</p>
<p>On a recent Instagram post, one of Mai’s followers commented: “Jeannie is booked and busy doing lighting.”</p>
<p>“We support and trust you. I’m so sorry this happened to you and your beautiful baby,” another follower shared on another of Mai’s Instagram posts.</p>

<p>Video posted on TikTok shows Ali being declared the winner before he began speaking.</p>
<p>As two men held a Palestinian flag behind him, he said he was running “for the Gipton and Harehills communities who are fed up of being abandoned by the Labor council.</p>
<p>“People who are tired of being taken for granted. Who is fed up of being abandoned by this corrupt council.”</p>
<p>At this point, Ali began to be interrupted by people in the crowd – including one man shouting at him to “shut up” and “f*** off”.</p>
<p>“This is a victory for the people of Gaza,” he continued. We will not be silent. </p>
<p>“We will raise the voice of Gaza. We will elevate Palestinian voices. Allahu Akbar”</p>
<p>Ali posted the video to his own TikTok page with the caption: Result for Gipton and Harehills, a huge win for our community, we have been neglected for too long, time to start working hard building our community back. </p>
<p>“Our community has rejected the Labor Party’s support for the genocide in Gaza.</p>
<p>“This has been a huge community effort, with people from all walks of life coming together to achieve this historic result.”</p>
<p>It comes after a Labor row erupted this week after party insiders blamed Hamas for a potential loss in local elections.</p>

<p>One of their own had secretly briefed the BBC, suggesting that the Conservative Party would retain the West Midlands mayoralty because Muslim voters disagreed with the Labor Party’s stance on the war in Gaza.</p>
<p>A Labor source said: “It is the Middle East, not the West Midlands, that will win the mayoralty.</p>
<p>“Hamas are once again the real villains.”</p>
<p>But the comments were criticized by senior Labor MPs, who called for the confidential source to be kicked out of the party immediately.</p>
<p>An official spokesman said: “The Labor Party has strongly condemned this racist quote, it did not come from anyone on behalf of the party or those whose values are welcomed within the party.”</p>
<p>The outcry came when leader Sir Keir Starmer admitted his party was losing Muslim votes because of its stance on Palestine.</p>
<p>He has spent months dodging calls for a ceasefire in war-torn Gaza.</p>

<p>The trio, along with another man from Colombia, were arrested in the operation supported by Humberside Police, the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organized Crime Unit and Border Force.</p>
<p>It follows the seizure of around 500kg of cocaine found in the back of a Vauxhall Vivaro van in the car park of the Stags Head Inn in Lelley.</p>
<p>It is believed the drugs had been transported from a larger ship off the Hull coast by a rigid inflatable boat several hours earlier.</p>
<p>The smaller boat was later found abandoned on rocks at Easington Beach, Co Durham.</p>
<p>The men questioned by NCA investigators are a 22-year-old man and a 32-year-old man from Oban, a 24-year-old man from Campbeltown and a 39-year-old man from Colombia.</p>
<p>NCA senior investigating officer Alan French said: “This was a significant amount of cocaine.</p>
<p>“There is no doubt that these drugs are being sold into communities across the UK, fueling increased crime and exploitation.</p>
<p>“Working with our law enforcement partners, we are determined to do all we can to prevent criminal activity and protect the security of the UK’s borders.</p>

However, they seem to have formed a solid friendship. Now, Noles revealed the latest information about her love life and fans are loving it.</p>

<h2>Susan Noles met her new Beau in a funny way</h2>
<p>On May 3, People shared an exciting update about Noles’ love life. The “Bachelorette” star has a new man in her life. Turns out, she met him in a very unrealistic way on television.</p>
<p>“He had bought a new house and was about to buy some things he needed, and he asked for a selfie,” Noles said of his new suitor. “I can’t go grocery shopping without someone noticing [me]. And this is Philly, the City of Brotherly Love. We all know everyone here,” she added.</p>
<p>The media shares that so far Noles and the mysterious man from Marshall’s have been “dating for a few days”.</p>
<p>While Noles didn’t find love on “The Golden Bachelor,” she did find a close friend. Noles and fellow bachelor Kathy Swarts have been practically inseparable since filming the show. They even launched a podcast together.</p>
<p>“We became very, very important in each other’s lives. And we are here to celebrate life,” Noles said of Swarts.</p>
<p>Swarts told People Noles is “perfect,” adding that any man would be lucky to have her as a partner. Swarts explains, “Susan loves to cook, she loves to clean, she loves to shop – all of you out there, check her out!”</p>
<p>The former “Bachelorette” even revealed: “Susan does the shopping for me. When we’re not doing the podcast, Susan tells me what I need to buy.” Noles also quipped that deciding what Swarts should eat is also her “job,” because she loves cooking.</p>

<h2>Noles doesn’t rule out appearing on ‘The Golden Bachelorette’</h2>
<p>News of Noles’ new romance may disappoint some “The Golden Bachelor” fans. Many are vying to see Noles take on the first lead role of “Golden Bachelorette.”</p>
<p>ABC has announced that it will film a season of “The Golden Bachelorette” and will air it in the fall. Although the network has not yet revealed the girl they chose, rumors have it that someone has been chosen. There are rumors that filming will begin shortly after Jenn Tran’s run on The Bachelorette ends.</p>
<p>However, Noles fans shouldn’t completely give up on seeing her return to television screens. “I hope we get a call back and give us some advice,” she told People. Noles did just that on Joey Graziadei’s season of “The Bachelor.”</p>
<p>“I want all the rejections,” Swarts quipped. I’m willing to spend sloppy moments” for “The Golden Bachelorette.”</p>
<p>Noles didn’t reveal much about her man at Marshall’s. Even so, “The Golden Bachelor” fans still seem happy for her.</p>
<p>One fan on Reddit joked: “You never know what kind of deals you’ll find at Marshall’s!!”</p>
<p>“Goal,” another Redditor declared.</p>
<p>“This makes me uncomfortable. I really want this to be product placement. Get those bags ladies,” another joked.</p>

<p>Some motorists even drove through the construction site, risking killing workers working on the road.</p>
<p>Highways maintenance operator Bear Scotland installed dash cams and dashboard cameras.</p>
<p>“We hope this will discourage the public from playing Russian roulette with workers’ lives,” the company said.</p>
<p>Ian Bennett, project traffic manager at Balfour Beatty, said: “We have endured abuse for many years. </p>
<p>“There was verbal abuse, physical abuse and throwing of objects, even urine, nappies and dirty bottles. </p>
<p>“It’s a constant battle.</p>
<p>“I’ve had co-workers pull out knives, machetes and a shotgun and say ‘I don’t care if the road is closed, I’m going down there anyway.’”</p>
<p>Now body cameras and CCTV are being used to fight back, with warnings that offending drivers will face court action.</p>

<p>National Highways says 1 in 10 people experience physical abuse each year.</p>
<p>More than 2,000 reports of abuse were made to road worker safety campaign Stamp It Out last year.</p>
<p>Kevin Robinson, director of Stamp It Out, said: “Abuse of doctors, nurses or teachers is unacceptable – so why should road workers put up with it?”</p>

<p>Galushko allegedly shot his comrades in the heart and chest at close range as they slept yesterday in a killing that sent shockwaves through the Russian military.</p>
<p>He is believed to be part of the artillery battalion of the 10th Tank Regiment, stationed in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region in southeastern Ukraine.</p>
<p>Galushko fled with an AK-12 Kalashnikov gas-powered assault rifle.</p>
<p>The alleged army turned back is believed to have originated in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region before moving to Russia’s Belgorod region, where he was later jailed.</p>
<p>Galushko was then one of hundreds of thousands of prisoners recruited into the Russian forces in exchange for freedom if they survived the fierce fighting at the front.</p>
<p>It is unclear why he was jailed.</p>
<p>He registered for military service on February 28.</p>
<p>Responding to the massacre, the Ukrainian Telegram channel Crimean Wind wrote: “This is what every Ukrainian who has been drafted into the occupying army should do.”</p>
<p>A report by the Telegram channel Project BARS – affiliated with the army reserves – called him an “animal”.</p>
<p>“Maybe he will try to get to the other side [Ukraine]”, an unidentified informant said in a recording on the channel.</p>

<p>There is still no official confirmation of the murder.</p>
<p>However, a document has emerged that appears to relate to a warning aimed at his arrest.</p>
<p>It said: “On May 4, 2024, sergeant Galushko, according to initial information, killed 6 soldiers of the artillery battalion of the 10th tank regiment, disappearing with personal weapons AK-12 from the artillery control point position. of the 10th tank regiment. </p>
<p>“The direction of travel has not been determined.”</p>
<p>The report describes the former prisoner as a Russian citizen with “average build, stooped shoulders, short, black and gray hair”. </p>

<p>“According to initial information, he was armed with an AK-12 assault rifle with a silent firing device.”</p>
<p>Soldiers were instructed: “If detected, arrest immediately […] notify the Deputy Chief of Staff of military service and military service security…”.</p>
<p>A report in Ukraine said he was originally from Ukraine and “was forced to fight for the Russian Federation.</p>
<p>“But he shot six occupiers and escaped. According to Russian media, they are looking for a Ukrainian in the occupied territories.”</p>
<p>The 10th Tank Regiment to which Galushko belonged is known to have fought in the brutal battle in the east for Avdiivka, which the Russian army claimed in February.</p>
<p>The massacre in the ranks occurred as Russians celebrated Orthodox Easter.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, this morning Putin paraded nuclear missile launchers, tanks and thousands of battle-ready soldiers ahead of his triumphant Victory Day event.</p>
<p>The 71-year-old Russian dictator has had to cancel most May 9 celebrations – the holiest day in the Russian calendar – but Moscow will go ahead.</p>
<p>The actual events will be held on Thursday under tight security, with reports suggesting the capital’s central show will be scaled back.</p>
<p>Victory Day parades are held across Russia as a means of commemorating the country’s defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.</p>

<p>“Dancing With the Stars” insider Kristyn Burtt doesn’t think fans have seen the last of the “Vanderpump Rules” alum in the ballroom — she just doesn’t think it will be anyone currently participating programme.</p>
<p>Burtt is a presenting reporter and mastermind on “Dancing With the Stars.” She sometimes appears on professional dancer Cheryl Burke’s “Sex, Lies and Spray Tans” podcast to talk about the DWTS headlines.</p>
<p>Following Ariana Madix’s impressive run on the ABC celebrity dance competition season 32, Burtt posted a TikTok video noting that there has been a lot of talk about other “Vanderpump Rules” stars wants to be on “Dancing with the Stars” for season 33.</p>
<p>Even though she doesn’t think it’s in the cards, Burtt still thinks Madix’s two former co-stars have a chance to compete for selection next season.</p>

<h2>Kristyn Burtt thinks the ship has sailed for 2 DWTS wannabes</h2>
<p>Madix was cast in DWTS after her ex-boyfriend Tom Sandoval brought them both to the forefront amid a shocking cheating scandal<u> in early 2023. </u>On TikTok, Burtt played a segment from Bravo host Andy Cohen noting that both Sandoval and “Vanderpump Rules” co-star Scheana Shay said their “dream” was to be on “Dancing With the Stars.” Burtt then gave his opinion.</p>
<p>“It was a terrible campaign coming from the cast of ‘Vanderpump Rules,’” she said. “I just think that for Scheana and Sandoval, time has passed. No one talks about Scandoval anymore. But do you know what everyone is talking about?”</p>
<p>Burtt then leaned forward to reveal a photo of “The Valley” stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright. “Yeah, it’s “The Valley,” Burtt continued. “And I think by season 33, these two are more likely to get invites. One, the other, or both.”</p>
<p>In his TikTok comments, Burtt added, “I think Brittany will thrive on the show!”</p>
<p>Burtt’s prediction may not be so far-fetched. Taylor and Cartwright have been in the news for their new reality show “The Valley.” The two also made headlines for their recent breakup amid cheating rumors. Taylor and Cartwright’s marital problems were fully examined on “The Valley” as fans watched them argue about everything from drinking to their sex lives.</p>
<p>It’s not like a couple that broke up was never invited to DWTS. Season 32 contestant Mauricio Umansky told “Access Hollywood” that his estranged wife Kyle Richards was also approached by producers. According to TMZ, Umansky, Richards and Richards’ rumored firebrand, singer Morgan Wade, were reportedly all offered DWTS at the same time, but Richards and Wade turned down the offer.</p>

<p>Just before Madix was cast in DWTS, Sandoval seemed to have put his name in the hat. In March 2024, he told “Vanderpump Rules Aftershow” that it was his “dream” to be on “Dancing With the Stars.” “I actually took dancing lessons and everything,” he said. “I’m working…. on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for many years.”</p>
<p>Likewise for Madix’s best friend Shay, whose apparent jealousy of Madix being cast became a “Vanderpump Rules” storyline. In the “Written in the Stars” season 11 episode “Vanderpump Rules,” Shay tells Lisa Vanderpump that her dream has always been to be on “Dancing With the Stars.” She admitted it was a “punch in the stomach” when she heard that Madix had been chosen as his replacement.</p>
<p>“This year I started taking dance classes. I was preparing just in case, you know, I got it,” Shay said. She made it clear that she is “happy” for Madix.</p>
<p>In a March 2024 interview on Heather McDonald’s “Juicy Scoop” podcast, Shay clarified that she is in talks with DWTS producers for late 2022 and to begin taking dance classes “ as a precaution”.</p>
<p>Madix responded to her co-stars’ DWTS dreams on the April 30, 2024 edition of “Watch What Happens Live.” Host Andy Cohen asked her to respond when “both Scheana and Sandoval said their dream is to do ‘Dancing with the Stars.’” Madix revealed that her ex discussed it with her.</p>
<p>“Yeah, he’s taking private lessons,” Madix confirmed before agreeing with Cohen that it was “ironic.” “Sure, don’t you think?” Madix is cracked.</p>
<p>Besides Madix, the only other “Vanderpump Rules” star to have competed on DWTS was Lisa Vanderpump during season 16.</p>
