The higher the CPU clock speed, the more power it needs and in turn, a faster core voltage will be required for overclocking purposes as well.</p> <h5 class="wp-block-heading">Power Limit</h5> <p>The power limit in the MSI Afterburner shows the power limit of the cores. If you increase or decrease it, then it will have an effect on your performance because more voltage is needed for overclocking if the limits are lower.</p> <h5 class="wp-block-heading">Temp Limit</h5> <p>The temp limit in the MSI Afterburner shows the temperature limit of the cores. If you increase or decrease it, then it will have an effect on your performance because more voltage is needed for overclocking if the limits are lower.</p> <h5 class="wp-block-heading">Memory Clock Speed</h5> <p>The memory clock is the clock speed that is supplied to the memory. The faster the memory clock, the more games will be able to use it without significant performance loss and at a higher resolution with better graphics settings.</p> <h5 class="wp-block-heading">Core Clock</h5> <p>The core clock is how many GHz your CPU core operates at when executing instructions from RAM or other storage devices connected directly to it (without involving any of the CPU cache). In order for overclocking in applications like MSI Afterburner, you’ll need a high-end cooling system such as an aftermarket heat sink or fan and thermal paste applied evenly across all surfaces of the heat sink or else your computer may overheat and shut down due to overheating.</p> <h4 class="wp-block-heading">The Monitoring Tab</h4> <p>This tab shows the visual representation of your PC’s temperature, as well as the CPU and GPU load, which is interesting to see if you’re overclocking these items as well. This is because overclocking a CPU and/or video card will increase its core clock speed, which can lead to instability in some programs that may not be compatible with the higher speeds.</p> <p>If you are aware of the risks and are still interested in overclocking your system, then you can proceed with the insructions below to use the overclocking feature of MSI Afterburner.</p> <p>TIP: If you are not sure how to overclock your computer, please do some research before trying it on your own. You may find helpful information in this article “How To Overclock Your Computer”</p> <p>Also before you do any overclocking tweaks, it is recommended that the Kombustor is running in the background for testing purposes (for making sure if there aren’t crashes) and possible power usage reading as well. This will allow you to test your system to make sure it is not unstable and that any overclock settings are working correctly.</p> <p><strong>Step 1:</strong> Click the gear icon, then on the General tab, check the box beside “Unlock voltage control” and “Unlock voltage monitoring”. After that, click OK then run MSI Afterburner again.</p> <div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="543" height="743" src="http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/unlock-voltage.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7207" srcset="http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/unlock-voltage.jpg 543w, http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/unlock-voltage-219x300.jpg 219w" sizes="(max-width: 543px) 100vw, 543px" /></figure></div> <p><strong>Step 2:</strong> If you have multiple GPUs, select the card from the Master Graphics Processor Selection that you wish to overclock</p> <p><strong>Step 3:</strong> Set the Power Limit and the Temperature Limit to maximum. With the power and temperature limits maxed out, the GPU will have no other choice but to increase in speed.</p> <p><strong>Step 4:</strong> Increase core clock slider gradually until you find an appropriate stable level. Do not increase the core clock speed slider by more than 50 MHz at a time, as this could be dangerous and cause instability in your system. The recommended increase is around 25 MHz.</p> <p><strong>Step 5:</strong> As you gradually increase the core clock, you will experience graphical issues in the GPU’s performance which means you have reached the limit of your graphics card. When this happens, lower the core clock in small increments until you find a stable level. The recommended clock speed decrease is around 17 MHz.</p> <p><strong>Step 6:</strong> Next is to play around with the memory clock speed using the same increase and reduction as the core clock until you find the stable settings.</p> <p><strong>Step 7:</strong> Once you are satisfied with the overclocked settings, save the overclocking profiles so you can load it in the future. Make sure to give a new name for your newly created overclock settings, or else this will overwrite all of your current overclocked settings with no warnings</p> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Using the OC Scanner</h3> <p>Another way to overclock using Afterburner is by using the OC scanner. The OC scanner is a powerful tool to find the highest stable overclock for your computer. The default fan profile sets up the fans to ramp up when your computer is under load or over 60 degrees Celsius, and then slow down as things cool off again.</p> <p>This setup might not be for everyone because it means that you will hear from time-to-time (though in most cases) some heavy duty cooling noise while gaming. To avoid this, there are two options: a balanced option that keeps the CPU at around 50% utilization without exceeding 60 degrees Celsius, or an aggressive one where the CPU never exceeds 90%.</p> <p>Both of these alternatives provide enough cooling power so that all we would need is to change out our stock cooler with something more powerful like a liquid cooler – however if you decide on how aggressively you want your CPU to be cooled, you may have an issue with the size of the cooler.</p> <p>The MSI Afterburner also has a built-in log that keeps track of all changes made by users and logs them for future reference.</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2> <p>Afterburner is a handy tool for any overclocking enthusiast. That’s not to say that the Nintendo Switch isn’t worth it, and I’ll get into why in a bit.</p> <p>First of all, I need to point out that the Nintendo Switch is a system with strengths and weaknesses. It’s not perfect for everyone by any means, but it does excel in one area where most systems usually don’t-portability. The Nintendo Switch can be played on your TV when docked or away from home via its built-in screen (I’ll get into this more later) and also as a handheld gamepad much like an Xbox One controller might work if you’re playing games on your phone.</p> <p>When you buy Switch, it comes with two controllers and a dock with three usb ports, so you can play games on your TV or up to four people at the same time in splitscreen. It’s also compatible with most Wii Remote Controllers as well (although it doesn’t come with one), which I found was pretty awesome.</p> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="769" height="455" src="http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/switch-in-docking-station.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7152" srcset="http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/switch-in-docking-station.jpg 769w, http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/switch-in-docking-station-300x178.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px" /></figure> <p>The only downside is that if you’re playing away from home without docking the Switch to its stand, then it will run out of battery after about three hours of use- much like no longer than two hours before fully charged again, depending on how drained the battery already is to begin with.</p> <p>The device has some pretty reasonable specs considering how small it is: under three pounds and just over ten inches wide. Some gamers may find themselves wanting something beefier, but I appreciate that the Switch is more of a livable gaming device.</p> <p>In terms of games, you have a few ways to buy games for your game library and add into your game collection by either buying a physical game or downloading the digital version.</p> <p>Make sure to check some of the Nintendo Switch buying guide to know more about the best games that are worth to buy.</p> <p>You can also play two player games with just a single Nintendo Switch unit, with its joy con controllers. I found this to be a really great option for multiplayer games like Mario Kart-it was so much easier than having two separate controllers.</p> <p>Ultimately Nintendo Switch deserves a chance because its portability can be beneficial depending on what type of gamer you are. Also, Nintendo Switches are not very expensive, and for the price, it doesn’t really hurt to try one out.</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">My Personal Experience with Nintendo Switch</h2> <p>I bought Nintendo Switch last year as a gift for my son and it was worth buying because my son loved playing with it and I got him Minecraft as well so he could continue his world building even when we were not at home.</p> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="771" height="400" src="http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/switch.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7151" srcset="http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/switch.jpg 771w, http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/switch-300x156.jpg 300w, http://www.fifthgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/switch-768x398.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px" /></figure> <p>I also tried to play with it and it was really easy to get into co-op mode with my son, which is really nice because we are both having fun playing one game together.</p> <p>I also found out that there is a Nintendo Switch Online which is another subscription service where you can play online games and they are really good.</p> <p>Another thing I found out is that you can play old school SNES games with the Nintendo Switch like the Super Smash Bros which really brings back memories of when I was a kid, and it is also really fun.</p> <p>Switch also has the Labo which is an interactive experience that includes assembling the cardboard pieces into different things like a piano and fishing rod and it is really enjoyable to watch your kids having so much fun. They look silly with all the cardboard boxes but they are really enjoying it and they like the variety of things that Labo has to offer.</p> <p>Nintendo Switch is an amazing console in its own right, but what makes it even better is the fact that you can change out parts called “Joy-Cons” or use them separately as tiny little controllers. This feature allows us to share our experience by enabling multiplayer gaming</p> <p>It’s not as powerful as some game consoles like PS or Xbox One or a gaming pc so if you are looking for that high end gaming experience then Nintendo Switch might not be worth your time. But I think its portability is great because I can play when there isn’t anything else around to do, and some people just don’t want all those wires laying around in their room.</p> <p>Overall, I think Switch is a good option for kids or younger gamers who want to have fun playing their favorite games together without having everyone crowded around one screen.</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Things I Like about Nintendo Switch</h2> <p>One of the things I like about Nintendo Switch is that it is a lot more portable than most consoles so you can play when there isn’t anything else to do.</p> <p>The lack of wires and cables makes it easy for me to travel with my console as well because it doesn’t matter if something happens in transit because all of the information is stored on an SD card anyways.</p> <p>I just love how immersive this system offers, whether its using two joy cons to create depth from movements or simply holding them while watching tv at night before bedtime.</p> <p>The motion control features of Nintendo Switch are also a major selling point because they allow me to play without having to get up and the in game feedback is always instantaneous.</p> <p>I haven’t had too many problems with this console as I have heard from other people, but one thing that does bother me about it is how small the screen is when playing on big TVs.</p> <p>But all things being said, this system has been great for killing time on long car rides where we would normally watch movies or TV shows together</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Some Drawbacks</h2> <p>With positives, comes the negatives too and Nintendo Switch has its drawbacks too.</p> <p>For one, the battery life of the Switch is not what it could be, since only a couple hours of playtime can be achieved before charging is needed.</p> <p>The joy con controllers are also a bit small for my hand, but it is a manageable problem that can be resolved with an adjustment of the grip.</p> <p>The screen might also not be large enough for some people, and I know this has been an issue for many because there are plenty of complaints about it on social media sites like Twitter.</p> <p>I also hope that Nintendo releases more games that are exclusive to the console like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. More Nintendo exclusive games would make it worth the purchase.</p> <p>Overall though, Nintendo Switch has been great for me! The only thing I would recommend they do differently next time around would be to make sure that the screen size doesn’t decrease so much when you’re using big TVs instead of handheld mode since it kind of defeats the purpose of the console.</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Available Versions of Nintendo Switch</h2> <p>Currently, the versions of Switch available are the Original, V2, and the Lite.</p> <p>The Switch v2 is the newer and upgraded version of the original Switch and battery lasts longer compared to the original.</p> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Switch Lite</h3> <p>The Lite is lighter than v.02 and there are no gimmicks like motion controls or won’t find HD rumble because this was designed for people who want to play quick sessions without having to worry about charging quickly in between game plays.</p> <p>The one I bought is the Switch V2 because it has more advanced features such as the ability to connect two consoles wirelessly for multiplayer mode and also longer battery which can last up to six hours with a single charge!</p> <p>I personally chose this version because I wanted a console that was easier to carry around on-the-go (since its primarily for my son) while still being able to play using touch screen capability without running out of batteries quickly at the same time</p> <p>There is also a rumor that Switch pro will release and is supposed to have more power, better screen resolution and also a longer battery as well, but up to nw, we still have to find out.</p> <p>You can buy this console from Online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Target.</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is Nintendo Switch Worth It?</h2> <p>So the million dollar question is – is Nintendo Switch worth buying? I love how it’s so easy to just take the Switch out of my bag and have a mini-game session with friends or family, making sure we’re staying connected in spite of busy schedules.</p> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Play Games with Cross Platform Compatibility</h3> <p>Yes you heard it right, there are Nintendo games that allow you to play game with people on any other platform.
